To improve the efficiency of mass propagation in vitro of Fritillaria thunbergii, bulb scale and nodes were cultured in LS medium supplemented with the combination of 2, 4-D and kinetin or NAA and BA. The number and size of bulb, the number of adventitious shoot, the ratio of callus formation, rooting, and the effects of light and dark on the culture, plant regeneration from calli, and the gelling substances were investigated. The combination of 2, 4-D and kinetin in media was more effective than the media of NAA and BA for the bulblet formation. The media supplemented with 2 mg/L 2, 4-D and 1 mg/L kinetin, $1{\sim}2\;mg/L$ 2, 4-D without kinetin and $1{\sim}3\;mg/L$ BAA only were effective in the adventitious shoot development. Callus formation and root formation, respectively were effective in the medium supplemented with 2mg/L 2, 4-D and 1mg/L kinetin. In bulb formation, the medium with 5 mg/L kinetin was effective, and the most of bulbs were formed from the axillary bud of node part. In bulb formation, shoot growth, callus and root formation, the light culture for 16 hours per day was better than that in the dark culture. Bulb was nicely formed in the medium with 0. 2 mg/L 2, 4-D, 1 mg/L kinetin. The medium without hormone was most effective for plant regeneration. The phytagel was more effective than agar in the medium as the gelling agent.
Background: Treatment strategies for octogenarians with lung cancer remain controversial. The purpose of this study was to compare surgical outcomes and survival between octogenarians and younger patients with stage IA and IB lung cancer. Methods: We reviewed the medical records of 34 consecutive octogenarians and 457 younger patients (<70 years) with stage I lung cancer who underwent surgical resection from January 2007 to December 2015. We analyzed the survival and surgical outcomes of the 2 groups according to the lung cancer stage (IA and IB). Results: The only significant differences in the clinicopathological features between the groups were the higher proportion of sublobar resection (56.3% vs. 18.9%) and the smaller number of dissected lymph nodes (LNs) in octogenarians. There was no significant difference in hospital stay (11 days vs. 9 days), pneumonia (5.8% vs 1.9%), or operative mortality (0% vs 0.6%) between the 2 groups. Among patients with stage IA lung cancer, 5-year recurrence-free survival was not significantly different between the octogenarians (n=16) and younger patients (n=318) (86.2% vs. 89.1%, p=0.548). However, 5-year overall survival was significantly lower in octogenarians than in younger patients (79.4% vs. 93.4%, p=0.009). Among patients with stage IB lung cancer, there was no significant difference in 5-year recurrence-free survival (62.1% vs. 73.5%, p=0.55) or overall survival (77.0% vs 85.0%, p=0.75) between octogenarians (n=18) and younger patients (n=139). In multivariable analysis, male sex, the number of dissected LNs, and tumor size were factors related to survival (hazard ratio [HR], 5.795; p=0.017; HR, 0.346, p=0.025; and HR, 1.699; p=0.035, respectively). Conclusion: Surgical outcomes and survival after pulmonary resection for stage I lung cancer were comparable in octogenarians and younger patients. Continued careful selection of octogenarians for pulmonary resection is important to achieve good results.

Most of routing schemes that protect the source's location from a malicious attacker usually make use of a path of a long length per message for the sake of lengthening the safety period. The biggest problem to such approaches is taking a very long latency in transferring messages to the destination. In this paper we show the problem to find the least-cost single path that is enough to keep the source-location always secure from the attacker, provided that it is used for the delivery of a set of messages given in priori, is NP-complete. Consequently we propose a routing protocol GSLP-w(GPSR-based Source-Location Privacy with crew size co) that is a trade-off between two extreme approaches. The advantage of GSLP-co lies in its enhanced safety period for the source and its lowered delivery latency in messaging. We consider NSP(Normalized Sefety Period) and NDL(Normalized Delivery Latency), measured in terms of the least number of hops to the destination, to achieve tangible interpretation of the results. We ran a simulation to confirm our claim by generating 100 topologies of 50,000 nodes with the average number of neighbors being 8. The results show that GSLP-$\omega$ provides more enhanced NSP compared to other protocols GSLP, an earlier version of GSLP-$\omega$, and PR-SP(Phantom Routing - Single Path), the most notable existing protocol for the source-location privacy, and less NDL than that of GSLP but more than that of PR-SP.

Token ring systems which control to switch the data stream of networks by passing the token have been widely used to medium access controls in many ring or bus topology LANs. The system could be modeled for analysis as single-server-multi-queue system of the cyclic service method. These concepts could be expanded to multi-token ring systems interconnected with single ring consisting of bridges implemented simply to be stored and transmitted. In the proposal for the performance analysis of the interconnected token ring system, in has been assumed M/G/1 queueing model that frame arrivals are the Poisson process at each station queue and frame sizes are independently and identically distributed. And the average time delays were analyzed mathematically for arbitrary frame transferred from source station to destination area. The time delay of the frame transmission could be explained as the sum of the average time which the token passed from arbitrary position to source station, such as the waiting time in the source station transferring the previous arrival frames, and the propagation time from source station to interdestinated point. These delays were given as the sum of the duration from inner and outer bridge queues, the time delays from inner and outer bridge queues, and the time from outer bridge queue to destination station. These results were investigated by varing parameters effected to total time delays. In the results, those factors to be effected to dominant the total time delays were increased were in the cases of the high arrival rates and the high ration of destination of the other outerring. The system were shown the time delays increased exponentially in spite of the priority service policy. In order to decreasing the number of outerrings and increasing the number of nodes in backbone relatively, so the systems could be decreased the total delay in the interconnected token ring system.

This study was designed to clarify the morphometrical change of lymph node, deep cortex and lymph follicles in draining lymph nodes of young mice in response to local injection of lipopolysaccharide(LPS). 1. In the group stimulated with LPS, aged 0 day and 3 days, the number of lymph follicles were not significantly different from those of control group. 2. In the group two to four weeks after injection with LPS, aged five days and one week, the number of lymph follicles were significantly increased from those of control group. 3. In the group one to four weeks after injection with LPS, aged 0 day, three days, five days and one week, the area of lymph node and deep cortex increased about 1.5-3 times more than that of the control group. 4. In the group two to four weeks after injection with LPS, aged three days, five days and one week, the lymph follicles(the area: larger than 0.1 mm2) were increased from those of control group. 5. In the group two to four weeks after injection with LPS, aged five days and one week, the lymph follicles(the area: smaller than 0.01 mm2) were increased from those of control group. In view of these experimental findings, the formation of lymph follicles were induced by LPS stimulation from 5 days to one week after birth. The newley formed lymph follicles area in response to LPS may be less than $0.01mm^2$.

Curved beams are increasingly used in buildings, vehicles, ships, and aircraft, which has resulted in considerable effort towards developing an accurate method for analyzing the dynamic behavior of such structures. The stability behavior of elastic curved beams has been the subject of many investigations. Solutions to the relevant differential equations have traditionally been obtained by the standard finite difference or finite element methods. However, these techniques require a great deal of computer time for a large number of discrete nodes with conditions of complex geometry and loading. One efficient procedure for the solution of partial differential equations is the differential quadrature method (DQM). This method has been applied to many cases to overcome the difficulties of complex algorithms and high storage requirements for complex geometry and loading conditions. Out-of-plane buckling of curved beams with rotatory inertia were analyzed using DQM under uniformly distributed radial loads. Critical loads were calculated for the member with various parameter ratios, boundary conditions, and opening angles. The results were compared with exact results from other methods for available cases. The DQM used only a limited number of grid points and shows very good agreement with the exact results (less than 0.3% error). New results according to diverse variation are also suggested, which show important roles in the buckling behavior of curved beams and can be used for comparisons with other numerical solutions or experimental test data.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the protection of glutamate (GLU) against the impairment in intestinal barrier function induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stress in weaned pigs. Methods: Twenty-four weaned pigs were divided into four treatments containing: i) non-challenged control, ii) LPS-challenged control, iii) LPS+1.0% GLU, and iv) LPS+2.0% GLU. On day 28, pigs were treated with LPS or saline. Blood samples were collected at 0, 2, and 4 h post-injection. After blood samples collection at 4 h, all pigs were slaughtered, and spleen, mesenteric lymph nodes, liver and intestinal samples were obtained. Results: Dietary GLU supplementation inhibited the LPS-induced oxidative stress in pigs, as demonstrated by reduced malondialdehyde level and increased glutathione level in jejunum. Diets supplemented with GLU enhanced villus height, villus height/crypt depth and claudin-1 expression, attenuated intestinal histology and ultrastructure impairment induced by LPS. Moreover, GLU supplementation reversed intestinal intraepithelial lymphocyte number decrease and mast cell number increase induced by LPS stress. GLU reduced serum cortisol concentration at 4 h after LPS stress and downregulated the mRNA expression of intestinal corticotropin-releasing factor signal (corticotrophin-releasing factor [CRF], CRF receptor 1 [CRFR1], glucocorticoid receptor, tryptase, nerve growth factor, tyrosine kinase receptor A), and prevented mast cell activation. GLU upregulated the mRNA expression of intestinal transforming growth factor β. Conclusion: These findings indicate that GLU attenuates LPS-induced intestinal mucosal barrier injury, which is associated with modulating CRF signaling pathway.
The present study was conducted to evaluate agronomic characters of the soybean germplasm which was collected from the sites covering southern parts of Korean peninsula. The total collections of 2748 native soybean varieties were grouped by eight levels of seed weight and the correlation between the seed weight and the other agronomic traits were determined. Seed weight was ranged from 7. 3g to 48. 4g with a great variation and averaged 23. 5g. Seed size of the many local lines were relatively large than that of foreign varieties. Frequency distribution of the germplasm for seed weight were 2.2% in Group 1 (below 10.0g), 14.7% in Group 2 (10.1-15.0g), 11.7% in Group 3 (15.1-20.0g), 26.2% in Group 4 (20.1-25.0g), 30.2% in Group 5 (25.1-30.0g). 10.6% in Group 6 (30.1-35.0g), 3.3% in Group 7 (35.1-40.0g) and 1.1% in Group 8 (over 40.0g). There was positive correlationship between seed weight and maturity or fruiting period, while there was negative correlationship between the seed weight and the other traits such as days to flowering, plant height, and number of nodes and pods. While 100 seed weight of 464 lines (16.9% of total lines) were below 15g, and those are adequate for the bean sprouts. The fruiting period of large seeded lines was longer, however the number of pods per plant of those were less lines than that of small seeded lines.
This study was conducted to measure the major agronomic characteristics of 85 local varieties of perilla at Chungbuk Agricultural Research and Extension Services in 2001. Perilla accessions examined were classified into three maturity groups, i.e, early, medium, and late maturity group of 19 (23%),57 (67%), and 9 (10%) accessions, respectively. The early and late maturity groups mainly consisted of collections from middle-northern area and southern area, respectively, while the medium group consisted of accessions from all over the country. Average 1,000-seed weight (TSW) was 2.7 g. TSW of the collection from Hamyang was the greatest a 3.9 g, while the TSW of Pyungchang collection was the smallest as 1.7 g, and most of collections produced medium and small seeds. Perilla accessions with greate 1,000-seed weight seemed to be belonged to the late maturity group. Seed coat colors of perilla accessions were dark brown (30%), brown (55%) and gray brown (6%), respectively, Among seed coat colors, brown color consisted of 91%. Stem height, the number of nodes, branches, flower clusters, and capsules per flower cluster, and the length of flower cluster were positively correlated occ, while these characteristics were negatively correlated with the number of capsules per flower cluster and 1,000-seed weight. These results allowed us to select 5 perilla collections, containing 1 collection with gray white seed color, and 4 collections over 2.5g 1000 seed weight, as parental lines in the breeding program.
Fifty-day-old plug seedlings of yacon (Polymnia sonchiflolia Poeppig & Endlicher) were transplanted on Mar. 23, Apr,8, Apr,23, May 8, May 23, and June 7,2002 at Jeju to evaluate the effect of transplanting date on the growth and yield of yacon in Jeju island. Delaying the transplanting until May 23 greatly decreased plant height stem height, main stem diameter and number of nodes per plant. The number of marketable tuberous roots was about 6.0 per plant with the early transplanting from March 23 to April 231 but decreased to 1.9 per plant with the latest transplanting time, June 7. The yield of marketable tuberous roots of early transplanted (March 23 to April 23) yacon was about 27 MT/ha, and was 32.4 MT/ha at April 23 transplanting, but was remarkably reduced at the three later transplantings, May 8, May 23, and June 7. Dry matter and soluble solid contents of marketable tuberous roots were 14% and 15%, respectively, regardless of transplanting date. The weight of a marketable tuberous root ranged from 153 to 183.9 g at the first three transplantings, but gyeatly reduced with delaying transplanting until May 7. The optimum transplanting date for yacon in Jeju island seems to be from mid-April to late April considering tuberous root yields, the risk of late-spring frost, and cost of seedling raising.
