Background: To evaluate chest CT findings of pandemic influenza A/H1N1 pneumonia without co-infection. Methods: Among 56 patients diagnosed with pandemic influenza A/H1N1 pneumonia, chest CT was obtained in 22 between October 2009 and Februrary 2010. Since two patients were co-infected with bacteria, the other twenty were evaluated. Predominant parenchymal patterns were categorized into consolidation, ground glass opacity (GGO), and mixed patterns. Distribution of parenchymal abnormalities was assessed. Results: Median age was 46.5 years. The CURB-65 score, which is the scoring system for severity of community acquired pneumonia, had a median of 1. Median duration of symptoms was 3 days. All had abnormal chest x-ray findings. The median number of days after the hospital visit that Chest CT was performed was 1. The reasons for chest CT performance were radiographic findings unusual for pneumonia (n=13) and unexplained dyspnea (n=7). GGO was the most predominant pattern on CT (n=13, 65.0%). Parenchymal abnormalities were observed in both lungs in 13 cases and were more extensive in the lower lung zone than the upper. Central and peripheral distributions were identified in ten and nine cases, respectively. One showed diffuse distribution. Peribronchial wall thickening was found in 16 cases. Centrilobular branching nodules (n=7), interlobular septal thickening (n=4), atelectasis (n=1), pleural effusion (n=5), enlarged hilar and mediastinal lymph nodes (n=6 and n=7) were also noted. Conclusion: Patchy and bilateral GGO along bronchi with predominant involvement of lower lungs are the most common chest CT findings of pandemic influenza A/H1N1 pneumonia.

Colostrum contains various kinds of cytokines including TGF-${\beta}$ which is known to be multifunctional in immune response and act as an anti-inflammatory agent. First, we measured the amount of TGF-${\beta}$ in bovine and human colostrum. Expression pattern of TGF-${\beta}$ isotypes was dramatically different between human and bovine colostrial samples. Bovine colostrum collected on day 1 post-delivery retained $41.79{\pm}16.96ng/ml$ of TGF-${\beta}$ 1 and $108.4{\pm}78.65ng/ml$ of TGF-${\beta}$ 2 while in human, $284{\pm}124.75ng/ml$ of TGF-${\beta}$ 1 and $29.75{\pm}6.73ng/ml$ of TGF-${\beta}$ 2. Thus, TGF-${\beta}$ is the predominant TGF-${\beta}$ isotype in bovine colostrum and vice versa in human colostrum. Both TGF-${\beta}$ isotypes diminished significantly in human and bovine colostrum with time. Next, biological activity of colostrial samples was examined in vitro. Both human and bovine colostrum increased IgA synthesis by LPS-activated mouse spleen B cells, which is a typical effect of TGF-${\beta}$ on the mouse B cell differentiation. Futhermore, we found that anti-proliferative activity in MV1LU cells by colostrum samples disappeared by addition of anti-TGF-${\beta}$ 1 and anti-TGF-${\beta}$ 2 antibody. In conclusion, there are substantial amounts of biologically active TGF-${\beta}$ 1 and TGF-${\beta}$ 2 in bovine and human colostrum. The results that the colostrum can increase IgA expression has important implications since IgA is the major Ig class produced in the gastrointestinal tract. We have previously shown that the stimulatory effect of Bifidobacteria bifidum on spllen B cells was quite similar to that of LPS which is a well-known polyclonal activator for murine B cells. In the present study, we further asked whether B. bifidum regulate the synthesis of IgA by mucosal lymphoid cells present in Peyers patches (PP) and mesenteric lymph nodes (MLN). B. bifidum alone, but not C. perfringens, significantly induced overall IgA and IgM synthesis by both MLN and PP cells. This observation indicates that B. bifidum possesses a modulatory effect on the mucosal antibody production in vivo. We, therefore, investigated the mucosal antibody prodduction following peroral administration of B. bifidum to mice. Ingested B. bifidum significantly increased the numbers of Ig (IgM, IgG, and IgA) secreting cells in the culture of both MLN and spleen cells, indicating that peroally introduced B. bifidum enhances mucosal and systemic antibody response. Importantly, however, B. bifidum itself does not induce the own specific antibody responses, implying that B. bifidum do not incite any unwanted immune reaction. Subsequently, it was found that excapsulation of B. bifidum further augments the total IgA production by increasing the number of IgA-secreting cells in the culture of both MLN and spleen cells. Finally, we found that the immuno-stimulating activity of B. bifidum is due to its cell wall components but not due to any actively secreting component(s) from bacteria. Thus our data reveal that peroral administration of B. bifidum can enhance intestinal IgA production and that encapsulation of B. bifidum further reinforces the IgA production.
This study intends to examine the influence of foliage treatment and seed treatment on the suppression of the succulent growth of tomato seedlings, and further, to clarify the proper way of suppressing the succulent growth of tomatoes. For the foliage treatment, the time and the concentration of diniconazol treatment were considered, and for the seed treatment, the soaking time was considered. As a result of examining the stem elongation of tomatoes based on the time and the concentration of diniconazol treatment, suppression of stem elongation and internodal length was found in step 1, 2, and 3. Plants absorb more quantity of a chemical when they are young, so a good chemical effect was found. In step 1, the number of suppressed nodes was 4, which was decreased to 3 in step 2 and to 2 in step 3. As a result of examining the influence of chemical tenacity on stem elongation, $5\;mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ in step 1 and 2 showed the suppression of stem elongation after chemical treatment, but it became recovered fast after a particular time, compared with others. In step 3, the period of stem elongation suppression was short and they were recovered fast. In step 1, the effect of chemical tenacity was found for 5 weeks, but in step 2 and 3, it lasted for 4 weeks respectively. After raising seedlings was finished, they got planted and the quantity of living bodies increased fast so there was no significant difference in breeding from non-treatment.
An experiment was carried out to investigate the effects of plant growth regulators on the growth and fiber yield of ramie. Gibberellin (GA) and Atonic acid were applied at the various levels of application dates, application frequencies and concentration. Stem growth of ramie increased greatly by applying GA on the meristem of shoot apex. Among three treatments of application frequencies of GA, that is, one time application at the stage of stem length with 50cm, twice applications at the stem length of 50cm and 100cm, and three times applications at stem length of 50cm, 100cm and 150cm, stem growth increased more as application frequency increased. GA application is more effective on stem growth at the later stage of growth than the earlier growth stage. GA treatment of 100 to 300 ppm is more effective on stem elongation than 50 ppm, which was due on the elongation of internodes without increase in number of nodes. One time application of GA enhanced leaf growth more or less regardless of concentration, but GA was applied more frequently, leaf growth was inhibited more at higher concentration. Fiber yield was the highest at the treatment of three times application of GA with 100 ppm. This treatment also showed the highest percentage of fiber with 5.3%, which is much higher value compared with that of control treatment with 4.6%. Atonic acid was less effective on stem elongation than GA, but it also seemed to be effective on the enhancement of fiber development.

This study was carried out to analyze the dynamic characteristics of laser tailor-welded blanks (TWBs) made of dissimilar materials. The analysis was performed using Hyper Works 10.0 with Solver LS-DYNA v.971. 2D-Shell was used as the modeling element, and the number of elements and nodes was 35,641 and 36,561, respectively. The impact speed was 10 km/h. To analyze the impact characteristics according to the height of the weld line for the upper and lower parts of the center pillar, the length of the lower part was set as 300 and 400 mm. When the lower part was made of SPFC980 steel with a length of 300 mm, the deformation was the smallest and the absorbed energy of the impact force was the largest. On based the lower part of center pillar, the position of TWB shows the shorter and the better value. In other words, the performance depended on the proportion of the upper part made of high-strength SABC1470 steel. A lower part made of SPFH590 steel showed large deformation. In contrast, a lower part made of SPFC980 steel showed significantly lesser deformation. Therefore, the impact performance of a lower part made of SPFC980 steel with a length of 300 mm showed the best analysis result.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the shortterm outcome of a pylorus-preserving proximal gastrectomy by comparing it with a jejunal interposition after a total gastrectomy in proximal gastric adenocarcinoma. Materials and Methods: For 22 patients (12 men and 10 women) who underwent a pylorus-preserving proximal gastrectomy, several clinical parameters were obtained from the medical records retrospectively. In this study, the data were collected between September 1993 and December 1999 at Chungnam National University Hospital, and the results were compared with those of 25 patients (17 men and 8 women) who underwent an isoperistaltic simple jejunal interposition. Results: The average operative time in the pylorus-preserving proximal gastrectomy group (220 minutes) was shorter than that in the jejunal interposition group (243 minutes) (P<0.05). The hemoglobin and hematocrit levels were significantly higher in the pylorus-preserving proximal gastrectomy group at 2 years after the operation. The body weight ratio (postoperative body weight/preoparative body weight) in patients who had a pylorus-preserving proximal gastrectomy was significantly higher than that in patients with a jejunal interposition at 2 years after the operation. The jejunal interposition procedure had better outcomes in anastomotic site stricture, duration of hospital stay, and number of removed lymph nodes (P<0.05). Conclusions: We think that from the viewpoint of quality of life, a pylorus-preserving proximal gastrectomy, as well as a jejunal interposition, is a useful reconstruction method for early adenocarcinomas of the proximal stomach. However, stricture of the esophagogastrostomy site in the pyloruspreserving proximal gastrectomy is a common problem to be solved in the future.

Experiments were carried out to find the varietal differences in histological structure and outer characteristics, and its relationships between each characters in the internodes of 15 barley varieties (5 covered barley, 5 naked barley and 5 malting barley). The length of 1st-3th internodes from the top was longer in malting barley varieties, covered barley varieties and naked barley varieties in the order, but of 4th-5th internodes was longer in naked barley varieties, covered barley varieties, and malting barley varieties in the order. The diameter of naked barley varieties internodes was much thicker that of malting barley varieties. The thickness of culm wall in 1st-3rd internodes was thicker naked barley varieties, covered barley varieties, and malting barley varieties in sequence and in 4th-5th inter-nodes was covered barley varieties, malting barley varieties, and naked barley varieties in the order. The number of large vascular bundles in covered barley varieties had more than that of naked barley varieties and malting barley varieties in 1st internodes. The size of large vascular bundles in covered barley varieties and naked barley varieties was larger than that of malting barley varieties. The size of large vascular bundles had significant positive correlation with thickness of culm wall and the diameter of internodes. The thickness of culm wall was negatively correlated with the length of internodes and culm, but positively correlated with the diameter of internodes.

Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) is a multicentric human immunodeficiency virus-associated neoplasm characterized by multiple vascular nodules in the skin, mucous membranes, and viscera. Gastrointestinal acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS)-related KS is the most common visceral involvement reported in disseminated disease. Here, we present the findings of a rare case of KS involving multiple organs with abdominal pain and active bleeding in the colon. Multiple intraluminal lesions were found in the terminal ileum, sigmoid colon, and rectum by ileocolonoscopy, and in the jejunum and ileum by fluoroscopy. Abdominopelvic CT revealed multiple enhanced flat lesions in the ileum and enlarged lymph nodes. The diagnosis was confirmed by histopathology, and antiretroviral therapy was initiated as the treatment of choice for KS. Owing to the increasing number of AIDS patients, it is essential for radiologists and clinicians to be aware of the imaging characteristics of KS to protect physicians from indiscriminate exposure to AIDS.
This experiment was conducted to study the effexts of seeding time and varieties on yield components, protein and oil content of soybean. Four varieties of soybean(Chung Buk Baek, Iksan, Keum doo, Chang dan Baek mok)wrere applied in this experiment and were seeded at May 15th, June 5th, and June 25th, the results obtained are as follows. 1.When the soybean was seeded at May 15th, stem height, stem diameter and number of nodes on main stem came to an end about 70days after seeding. In case that the seeding time was delayed 20 days and 40 days from May15th, respectively, the time to be almost cimpleted the growth of the characteristics was shortened 10days and 20days during ther debelopment. Among varieties, Chung Buk Beak grew faster than any other varieries. 2.When seeded at May 15th, the plants produced many pods, and had high proportion of branch pods. When seeded late, the proportion of branch pods were low. Branches had large proportion of empty pods and one grain pods, but on main stem, the proportion of two grain pods and three grain pods were more than that of branch. Among varieties, Chung Buk Baek had high proportion of two and three grain pods, Keum doo and Chang dan Baek mok had high proportion of one and two grain pods, and Iksan had high proportion of one and three grain pods. 3.Tields were less by the late seeding. The proportion if decreased yields to the yields when seeded at May 15th, that of Chung Buk Baek was decreased 6% when seeded at June 5th and 14% when seeded at June 25th, that of Ik san was decreased 9% and 17%, that of Keum doo decreased 15% and 26% and that of Chang dan Baek mik decreased 18% and 27%. 4.Protein content was highest in the plots seeded on May 15th, but oil content was highest in the plots seeded in June 25th. Among varietiesm Xhang dan Baek mok had the highest proportion of protein content and Iksan had the highest of oil content.

This study was conducted in 2014 in the Gangjin area of Jeonnam province for the purpose of confirming the potential of Kenaf as an alternative feed crop of rice. The weather and soil conditions were favorable and there was no adverse effect on the growth of Kenaf. The amount of seeding was given at 10 kg, 15 kg and 20 kg. As the seeding volume increased, plant height and dry matter yield increased, and stem diameter and number of nodes decreased. The highest growth rate was observed between 75 and 90 days from the date of planting(p<0.05). As the growth progressed, stem rate increased and leaf rate decreased(p<0.05). Increased amount of seeding and growth resulted in decreased CP and TDN and increased ADF and NDF, which resulted in the decreased economic value of Kenaf as a feed crop. The result of increasing the use of organic fertilizer to 20 kg and 30 kg was similar to increasing the amount of seeding. As organic fertilizer usage increased, dry matter yield and growth rate improved(p<0.05).
