In this paper, some performance characteristics of VoIP(Voice over Internet Protocol) for MANET(Mobile Ad-hoc Networks) with simulation is studied and appropriate condition for implementation of VoIP service is suggested. VoIP simulator is implemented with NS(Network Simulator)-2. VoIP traffic for simulation is generated with some codecs of G.711, G.723.1, G.726-32, G.729A, GSM.AMR and iLBC. As simulation results for traffic transmission under $670{\times}670m$ 50node MANET environment, performance data for MOS(Mean Opinion Score), network delay, packet loss rate and transmission bandwidth are measured. Normalized analysis about measured results shows that maximum VoIP connection satisfying VoIP service quality condition is 15.

In this paper, Transmission performance over MANET(Mobile Ad-hoc Networks) under DDoS Intrusions is evaluated. Intrusion counterplan requirement, which have to be used for MANET under DDoS intrusions, is suggested through this evaluation. VoIP simulator based on NS-2 network simulator is used for performance measurement. MOS, network delay, packet loss rate and call connection rate is measured with this simulation. Finally, requirement of intrusion continuing time shorter then 10 seconds is suggested for VoIP service over MANETs under DDoS intrusions.

WiBro has advantages when both WLAN and 3G UMTS are adopted. Much research is being carried out in this area. However, the WiBro specification does not consider end-to-end security. Hence, another security protocol has to be adopted to support secure communication. Most previous research only focused on WiBro MAC performance improvement or security. In this paper, we adopt a security protocol such as IPsec, TLS, and DTLS, well known end-to-end security protocols, to make full use of WiBro in the IP network. Using NS-2 we simulated the adoption of end-to-end security protocol and evaluated performance and usability. Simulation shows DTLS had some performance advantages. All the protocols, TLS and IPsec are also suitable for use in WiBro.

Usage of LTE(Long Term Evolution) technology is expanded to industrial an emergency service field beyond commercial communications of mobile internet focused on smartphone. In this paper, transmission performance of LTE technology be supplied to various service area is analyzed on the level of application traffics. Performance is evaluated with compter simulation based NS(Network Simulator)-2, CBR(Constant Bit Rate), VBR(Variable Bit Rate File) traffic is used as simulation target. Results and methods of this paper can be used for research and developmemt of LTE based networks.

LTE-R(Long Term Evolution-Railway) based on LTE technology is expected to use core communication technology for high speed railway as one of standards for railway communications. In this paper, transmission performance of video traffic as an application is analyzed on LTE-R networks. Performance is evaluated with compter simulation based NS(Network Simulator)-2, open video traffic is used, RTP(Real Time Protocol) is used for transmission protocol. Results and methods of this paper can be used for research and developmemt of LTE-R networks.

RED 파라미터를 가장 적합하게 설정할지라도 RED 라우터의 처리량(Throughput)이 TD 라우터 보다 획기적으로 향상되기는 매우 어려운 일이다 하지만 REO 라우터를 이용하여 TCP 커넥션들간의 페어니스(Fairness)와 페어니스 향상에 따른 전체 네트워크 이용률(Utilization)을 높일 수는 있다. 본 논문에서는 네트워크 상황에 따라 동적으로 RED 파라미터를 조절하면서 빠르게 안정적인 상태로 적응하는 진보된 RED 알고리즘인 ea-RED(Efficient Adaptive RED)의 성능을 네트워크 시뮬레이션 툴인 NS-2를 이용하여 TD. RED 알고리즘과 다양하게 실험하고 비교 분석한다. 이 실험을 통해 병목구간에서 혼잡이 심할 경우, ea-RED 라우터가 RED나 TD 라우터에 비해 큐를 효율적으로 사용하면서도 보다 높은 페어니스 인덱스 값을 갖는다는 점을 확인할 수 있다.

최근 3G를 지나4G를 향해 가면서 모바일 통신이 많은 발전을 이루었다. 하지만 아직까지도 모바일 장치를 사용항에 있어서 전력, 기반 속도, 이동성 등에 따라서 불편을 겪고 있는 것이 사실이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하고자 Wi-Fi와 블루투스를 함께 사용하는 모바일 회의 시스템을 구현하고 실험과 시뮬레이션을 통하여 성능 평가를 하였다. 실험을 위해 모바일 회의 시스템을 구현하였고 시뮬레이션은 NS-2를 사용하였다. 본 시스템의 구현과 실험 및 시뮬레이션 결과를 통해서 모바일 어플리케이션을 제작함에 있어서 Wi-Fi와 블루투스의 두 가지 모바일 기술을 함께 조합하여 구성하고 동시에 사용하는 방식이 효과적임을 알 수 있었다.

배터리를 주 전력원으로 사용하는 MANET(Mobile Ad hoc NETwork)에서 전력 소비를 줄이는 방법에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있지만, 이의 실험을 지원하는 시뮬레이션 도구를 찾아보기는 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 IEEE 802.11의 DCF-PSM 시뮬레이션 환경을 제공하기 위해 ns-2에 PSM 모듈을 구현하였고, 특히 전력 소비와 관련된 결과 자료를 쉴게 생성하기 위해 여러 가지 편의성을 제공하는 에너지 모델을 제안하였다. 이러한 모들의 개발로 PSM 환경에서의 상위 계층 프로토콜의 성능 평가나 PSM에 적합한 새로운 상위 계층 프로토콜의 개발이 가능해졌고, PSM을 개선하는 알고리즘의 구현과 그의 성능 평가도 훨씬 쉽게 이루어질 수 있게 되었다.

In this paper, we present a simulation model of Slammer worm propagation process which caused serious disruptions on Internet in the you of 2003 and analyze the process of Slammer by using NS-2. Recently introduced NS-2 modeling called "Detailed Network-Abstract Network Model" had enabled packet level analysis. However, it had deficiency of accommodating only small sized network. By extending the NS-2 DN-AN model to AN-AN model (Abstract Network-Abstract Network model), it is effectively simulated that the whole process from the initial infection to the total network congestion on hourly basis not only for the Korean network but also for the rest of the world networks. Furthermore, the progress of the propagation from Korean network to the other country was also simulated through the AN-AN model. 8,848 hosts in Korean network were infected in 290 second and 66,152 overseas hosts were infected in 308 second. Moreover, the scanning traffics of the worm at the Korean international gateway saturated the total bandwidth in 154 seconds for the inbound traffic and in 135 seconds for the outbound one.

Grayhole attack, one of attack to MANET routing function, is very severe in point of view of causing results which disturbs normal transmission function of network with uneasy finding of attacks. In this paper, effects of grayhole attack to application service on MANET is analyzed. Based on this analysis, some conditions is suggested for anti-intrusion to operate an application service on MANET under grayhole attack. This study is done with computer simulation based on NS-2 be added grayhole attack function which is implemented in this paper.
