야외지질학습에서 '생소한 경험 공간(Novelty Space)'에 대한 초등 예비교사와 중등 지구과학 예비교사들의 인식 탐색 (Exploring the Perception of Elementary and Secondary Pre-service Teachers about 'Novelty Space' in Learning in Geological Field Trip)

  • 이 연구는 초등 및 중등 지구과학 예비교사들을 대상으로 생소한 경험 공간(Novelty Space)에 대한 인식 조사를 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 A 교육대학교의 초등 예비교사 38명과 B 대학교 지구과학교육과에 재학 중인 31명의 중등 지구과학 예비교사들이 설문에 참여하였다. 또한 연구 참여자 중 추가적인 면담 참여에 동의한 초등 예비교사 3명과 중등 지구과학 예비교사 9명, 총 12명을 대상으로 비대면 면담을 실시하였다. 생소한 경험 공간에 대한 요소를 사전 지식(인지), 사전야외학습 경험(심리), 야외조사지역과의 친숙도(지리)에 덧붙여, 사회적인(social) 요소과 기술적인(technical) 요소를 추가하였다. 초등과 중등, 학년를 기준으로 분류하였을 때 생소한 경험 공간의 요소에 대해 인지적 영역, 심리적 영역, 지리적 영역, 사회적 영역에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 통계적인 차이는 야외학습과 관련된 경험이나 자본이 중등 지구과학 예비교사들이 초등 예비교사들보다 더 많은 것으로부터 비롯되었을지도 모른다고 해석하였다. 반-구조화된 면담에서 초등 예비교사 및 중등 지구과학 예비교사 모두 가상야외지질학습의 가치나 필요성을 강조하였으며 특히 기술적인 영역에서의 역량을 강조하였다. 이 연구는 초등 및 중등 지구과학 예비교사들을 대상으로 야외지질학습을 실행하기 위한 생소한 경험 공간에 대해 현재의 교육 맥락적인 상황을 고려하여 새롭게 정의할 필요성을 제안할 뿐만 아니라 생소한 경험 공간 요소들을 구체화하였다는 점에서 학술적인 의의를 갖는다.

'광물과 암석' 관련 야외지질학습에서 초등학생들의 학습 효과에 대한 탐색 - 생소한 경험 공간을 중심으로 - (Exploring Learning Effects of Elementary Students in a Geological Field Trip Activity concerning 'Minerals and Rocks' - Focus on Novelty Space -)

  • 이 연구는 광물과 암석을 주제로 진행된 야외지질학습에 참여한 초등학생들의 학습 효과를 생소한 경험 공간(Novelty space) 개념을 중심으로 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 방과 후 자율 동아리 활동 형식으로 서울의 한 공립초등학교에서 진행된 본 프로그램에 6학년 학생 총 10명이 참여하였다. 학생들은 교실 학습 환경에서 광물과 암석 표본을, 야외 학습 환경에서 노두에 노출되었거나 정원석 등으로 쓰이고 있는 광물과 암석을 각각 관찰하였다. 저자들은 각 차시별 연구 참여자들이 작성한 활동지(글, 그림), 연구자 참여 노트, 연구 참여자의 활동이 담긴 영상 및 음성 자료와 사후 인터뷰 자료를 수집하였다. 인지적 영역에서 학생들의 학습 효과를 분석하기 위해 Remmen and Frøyland (2020)의 암석 분류를 위한 관찰 분석틀과 Oh (2020)의 암석 기술어 분석틀을 활용하였다. 또한 심리 및 지리적 영역의 학습 효과를 탐색하기 위해 학생들의 그림과 담화 및 면담 자료를 귀납적으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과 학생들은 교실 학습 환경에서 '일상적', '과도기적' 관찰 양상을 보였으며 야외 학습 환경에서(학교 운동장, 지역사회)는 '과도기적' 및 '과학적' 관찰 단계까지 발전하는 모습을 나타냈다. 덧붙여 과학적 관찰 단계로 갈수록 더 많은 종류의 암석 기술어가 사용되는 것 또한 확인되었다. 심리, 지리적 측면에서 학생들은 익숙한 야외 학습 환경으로의 답사 장소 선정, 야외지질학습에 대한 긍정적인 인식, 심미적 감상 등을 표현하였다. 끝으로 이 연구는 학생들의 학습 효과 분석을 위한 도구로써 생소한 경험 공간 개념이 유용한 도구가 될 수 있음을 강조하며 아울러 가상야외지질학습과 같은 새로운 학습환경을 고려하는 학술적인 접근이 필요함을 제안하는 바이다.

광고 커뮤니케이션 3요소를 통해 나타나는 자동차 광고 속 건축물 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Architectural Buildings for Car Advertisements based on Three Elements for the Advertising Communication)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide the connectivity between the preference of architectural buildings and automobile companies as the most widely used background images for automobile advertisements. Based on the familiarity of the brand, the complexity of the message, and the novelty of the advertisement, this research is discovered with preferred images of automobile companies as well as the connectivity by analyzing architectural buildings emerging with various background images of automobile advertisements. After analyzing all three elements for the advertising communication, the conclusions through case investigations of nine automobile companies are the below. Firstly, the familiarity of the brand from nine automobile companies was high ranked satisfaction scores after questionnaire surveys. Secondly, all the aspects for the space, formative, material, height, and utilization related to the complexity of the message are not only matched the preferred images which automobile companies persue but the same preferred design elements after reviewing the most preferred and next most preferred images from the companies. Lastly, the methods for emphasizing the automobile itself which is related to the novelty of the advertisement simplify background images along with preferred artificial structures.

장소성 구현을 통한 공간 재생 디자인 연구 (A Study of Design For Reviving Space through Realizing Place Property)

  • Though the physical environment of life through technological evolution has rapidly improved, the quality of life due to a variety of undesirable environmental issues has been seriously damaging. This study has tried to suggest the positive & sustainable direction of space design which can contribute to improving the quality of human lives by reviving 'place property' which a site itself has, trying to analyze the recycling space which the sustainability has been applied to in a true sense. For this cause, we've tried to draw four 'methods of realizing place property' such as meeting a site, understanding a site, finding the identity of a site, and adding novelty to a site through advanced research. I've tried to suggest the design direction for reviving space which can relieve the artificial aspect of design with pursuing the co-existence with nature on the foundation of realizing 'place property' through case analysis selected on the basis of this, and can express the 'sustainability' through environment-friendly space structures & high efficiency of its function.

Effects of environmental enrichment on behaviour, physiology and performance of pigs - A review

  • This paper aims to critically analyse and synthesise existing knowledge concerning the use of environmental enrichment and its effect on behavior, physiology and performance of pigs housed in intensive production systems. The objective is also to provide clarity as to what constitutes successful enrichment and recommend when and how enrichment should be used. Environmental enrichment is usually understood as an attempt to improve animal welfare and to a lesser extent, performance. Common enrichment objects used are straw bedding, suspended ropes and wood shavings, toys, rubber tubings, colored plastic keys, table tennis balls, chains and strings. These substrates need to be chewable, deformable, destructible and ingestible. For enrichment to be successful four goals are essential. Firstly, enrichment should increase the number and range of normal behaviors; secondly, it should prevent the phenomenon of anomalous behaviors or reduce their frequency; thirdly, it should increase positive use of the environment such as space and fourthly it should increase the ability of the animals to deal with behavioral and physiological challenges. The performance, behavior and physiology of pigs in enriched environments is similar or in some cases slightly better when compared with barren environments. In studies where there was no improvement, it should be borne in mind that enriching the environment may not always be practical and yield positive results due to factors such as type of enrichment substrates, duration of provision and type of enrichment used. The review also identifies possible areas that still need further research, especially in understanding the role of enrichment, novelty, breed differences and other enrichment alternatives.

Humanitarian Documentary: A Comparison Study between VR and Non-VR Productions

  • Virtual Reality is broadly recognized as an "empathy machine". This reputation is due to the feeling of 'presence' that it provides to users, which is the sensation of being bodily present in a space, even when that space is virtual. The possibility of complete immersion attracts many creators looking to induce empathy and awareness about the most diverse subjects. One of the first types of VR non-fiction productions to be released was in the morally sensitive humanitarian documentary genre. This research aims to explore how VR productions differ from non-VR productions with a focus on humanitarian communication. Rather than targeting mechanical aspects of VR technology, this article compares the visual and narrative storytelling characteristics in VR and non-VR media. First, humanitarian communication and its nuances are explained. Then, 360° video filming characteristics are analyzed, followed by a comparison table contrasting VR and non-VR non-fiction. After evaluating VR non-fiction empirical studies, a discussion is initiated over the betterment of VR non-fiction storytelling in a way that could help it generate more empathy, since many productions seem to purely rely on the technology as a production novelty, and end up lacking emotional depth and audience engagement through story.

  • In a word, Behnischs architecture can be said to be the architecture of humanism based on an interpretation of the human being. The architecture of Behnisch in which it is not space but people that becomes the subject in architecture is newness or novelty, which is proceeding to position itself as one architectural style representing the times. He refrain from the environment that is defensive and oppressive, and destructive and disruptive in composing his architecture and instead is directed towards the continuos, creative and open environment. With such an architectural language, he is pursuing a minimum of the best rather than quantity based on trust and respecting for man and nature as his unchanged theme. That is, he is seeking for the purpose of architecture that does not disregard individuality such as consumers wants and needs. As can be seen from it, his architectural work has aroused freshness and stimulus to the architectural environment that can not be boring, allowed us to look back on the architectural world and triggered our interest. His architecture has the human energy that moves us.
