The beauty itself cannot be changed by the time, but the concept of the beauty can be influence by the time and cultural background. The purpose of this study is to analyze the beautiful faces or ugly faces among the young women and to provide useful guideline to make up for the modem concept of beauty. The facial photographs of 180 adlut women(aged between 20 and 29) in Pusan and Ulsan area were sampled to be measured and classified as the beautiful or ordinary or ugly faces. Data were analyzed by Frequencies, Mean, Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The major results were as followings; the Beautiful face has a relatively small face with a broad forehead and a small lower face. It also has a wide palpebral fissure, narrow intercanthal distance, a narrow nose and a big mouth. Physiognomic face length was 182.38mm, the upper face length was 59.82mm, the middle face length 60.82mm, the lower face length 61.76mm, and the index of face length to face breadth was 1.35. And also the faces within the figures are considered as the beautiful or ordinary or ugly faces from those measurements like face length/bizygion breadth, intercanthal distance, mouth width, upper vermilion height, lower vermilion height.

Women's face types were classified by 6 types and there were round shape(29.4%), oblong shape(18.9%), inverted triangle shape(16.1%), square shape(13.9%), egg shape(11.7%), diamond shape(10.0%) in the subject. Phyiognomic facial height was 182.38mm, the upper face length was 59.82mm, the middle face length 60.82mm, the lower face length 61.76mm, and the index of face length to face breadth was 1.35. The face width was 134.90mm, interocular distance 34.75mm, the nose width 33.93mm, and mouth width was 43.87mm. And also, differences from those measurements like forehead breadth, face length/bizygion breadth, forehead slopper, bigonion breadth, bignathion breadth, bignathion slopper.
The author presents Bardach' s technique for the residual unilateral cleft lip nasal deformity, The key to a successful and stable correction of the nasal deformity is to lengthen the columella on the cleft side and to mobilize alar cartilage from its surrounding tissue, creating a symmetric shape and length, The major advantages of the technique are lengthening of the cleft columella and creation of a symmetric and well-projected nasal tip.
Subsonic aerodynamic force and moment characteristics have been determined for parametric groups of launchers. Geometric variables considered in the experimental study were body length, nose planform, fin planform (body-alone contained), number of stage and existence of extrnal booster, All data were obtained for angles of attack from 0 to 27 deg in 3-deg. increments.
There are several characteristics of the nose of orientals. The dorsum of nose is flat and low, the skin is thick with severe tension, the nasal tip is bulbous, the nostril is wide, and the projection of the nose is limited due to a poorly developed alar cartilage with a short columella. In order to improve these untoward characteristics of the nose of Orientals aesthetically, plain augmentation of the dorsum and tip-plasty with conventional methods has been performed by many plastic surgeons. However these conventional rhinoplasty is not enough to obtain satisfactory results when transforming into a more beautiful and aesthetically charming appearance. In order to produce the optimal nasal shape and profile, it is extremely important to consider the aesthetic surgical factors, which are; the position of the nasion, the optimal nasolabial angle(95-100 degree in Orientals), the natural exposure of infra-tip lobule with and columella, the position of the tip defining point in harmony with the dorsal profile and the smooth and natural silhouette of the lateral nasal profile as it descends into the inferior portion of the nose. From April, 2003 to August, 2004, a total of 52 patients underwent open rhinoplasty, adhering to the strict aesthetic principles considered and described priorly. Surgical approach was done through a transcolumella incision and an alar rim incision. The nasal dorsum was augmented with a silicone implant and the shape of the columella and the nasolabial angle were finessed with a silicone strut implant which was placed in between the medial crurae in a manner of a non-visible graft. The nasal tip was corrected by alar cartilage suture technique and onlay graft of shield shaped Alloderm and Gore-Tex. Author obtained the optimal nasal shape and profile aesthetically, and the results, considered satisfactory in all patients without any complications, are as follows; 1. the average increase in nasal length was 2.5 mm, 2. the average decrease in nasal width was 2.1 mm, 3. the average increase in nasal tip projection was 3.2 mm, 4. the changes of nasolabial angles were from 85.5 degree to 94.7 degree, 5. the changes of the angle between the long axis of the external naris was from 101.3 degree to 89.5 degree. In conclusion, this surgical procedure is an effective, reliable and a valuable method in improving the nasal shape, tip projection, nasolabial angle and especially, the lateral facial profile of Orientals aesthetically.
The temporalis fascia graft has been widely used in the correction of nasal deformities. The fascia can be used alone or combined for augmentation rhinoplasty. The fascia graft provides adequate coverage, contour, and bulk on the profile of the nose, as well as an inconspicuous donor site. A depressed radix area can be successfully corrected by the fascia graft. We present two cases of nasal radix augmentation by using temporalis fascia graft. Two male patients presented with the skeletal class III malocclusion and the depressed radix. A planned orthognathic surgery and the temporalis fascia graft to the radix were performed. The malocclusion and the profile of the patients were markedly improved after the operation. Not only the radix but also the nose was improved in its size and length. There was no noticeable resorption or displacement of the radix area at follow-up. The temporalis fascia graft could be an appropriate surgical technique in radix augmentation and nose lengthening.
This paper presents the structural analysis of two-span structures constructed by incremental launching method to traverse the existing facilities. The structure with a relatively short launching span can not be secure the structural stability caused by excessive deflection and overturning prior to reaching the maximum strength, because the length of the other span is different or the rear structure is not continuous. In order to estimate the stability of the construction stages of deflection and the overturning, the structural analysis was carried out. The parameters of the analysis is launching span ratio of the launching nose and the upper structure, weight ratio and so on. From the analysis result, the effects of parameters were investigated and a deflection formula of the launching nose and the condition of the overturning of structure were proposed.
The papilloma of the nose and the sinuses is uncommon benign neoplasm that was pro bably first described by Billroth in 1855 as a "villiform cancer": It may polypoid or papillomatous in the nose or sinuses and is frequently multiple. Clinically, there are 3types of the papilloma found in the nasal cavity and sinuses, vestibule, fungiform, inverting. The vestibular type is the keratotic lesion arise from the squamous epithelium lining the vestibule of the nose. The inverting type, which is covered by the columnar or metaplastic squamous epithelium is pliable, pink and tends to bleed quite easily. The fungiform type is covered by the stratified squamous epithelium which shows varying degree of cornification. It is more caulflow like than the inverting type and does not bleed easily. Recently, the authors experienced a case of the fungiform type papilloma which occupied right nasal cavity and nasopharynx. So, we reports the case, with review of the current brief literatures. A 55 year old man was admitted with the chief complaints of right nasal obstruction by the protruded movable mass on right nasal cavity, which was noticed about 7 months ago. The biopsy report revealed fungiform type papilloma.(length 18cm. width 2.5 cm. weight 41 gr.) The tumor mass was removed surgically through intranasal approach under the general anesthesia. Postoperative course was uneventful and the patient was discharged after 7 days hospitalization. No evidence of recurrence has been observed up to date.
Background: Patients with secondary deformities associated with unilateral cleft lip and nose might also suffer from nostril stenosis due to a lack of tissue volume in the nostril on the cleft side. Here, we used full-thickness skin grafts (FTSGs) to reduce nostril stenosis and various methods for skin volume augmentation. We compared the changes in the symmetry of both nostrils before and after surgery. Methods: From February 2016 to January 2020, 34 patients underwent secondary cheiloplasty and open rhinoplasty for secondary deformities of the unilateral cleft lip and nose with nostril stenosis. FTSG was used on the nostril floor, nasal columella, and alar inner lining. The measured nasal profile included the nostril surface, nostril circumference, width of the nostril floor, and distance from the alar-facial groove to the nasal tip. The "overlap area," which was defined as the largest overlapping area when the image of the cleft nostril was flipped to the left and right and overlaid on the image of the normal side nostril, was also calculated. The degree of symmetry was evaluated by dividing the value of the cleft side by that of the normal side of each measured profile and expressed as "ratios." Results: The results of all profile ratios, except for the nostril floor width, became significantly close to 1, which represents full symmetry. The overlap area ratio improved from 62.7% to 77.3%, meaning that the length and width of the nostril as well as the overall shape became similar (p< 0.05). Conclusion: When performing cleft rhinoplasty with nostril stenosis, FTSG is useful to achieve symmetry in the nostril size and shape. Skin grafting is simpler to perform than the other types of local flap, and the results are generally satisfactory.

Background Surgical correction of bilateral cleft lip deformities remains one of the most challenging areas in facial plastic surgery. Many surgical techniques and conservative devices have been offered for the early management of bilateral cleft lip in infants. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of lip adhesion on the lip and nose of patients with bilateral cleft lip. Methods A retrospective review of 13 patients with bilateral cleft lip was performed and compared with age-matched noncleft children. Patients underwent lip adhesion at a mean age of 2.8 months, and cheiloplasty at 6.6 months of age using a modification the Mulliken method. Secondary rhinoplasty was performed at the age of 6 in 13 patients. The surgical results were analyzed using photographic records obtained at the age of 1 and 7 years. Twelve length measurements and one angle measurement were obtained. Results All measurements were not statistically different from those of the noncleft age-matched control group at the age of 1. At 7 years of age, upper lip height and vermilion mucosal height were shorter (p < 0.05) than in the control group. Nasal tip protrusion and the nasolabial angle were greater (p < 0.05) than in the control group. Conclusion Lip adhesion followed by secondary rhinoplasty resulted in an acceptable lip and nasal appearance. Although nasoalveolar molding is now widely used, lip adhesion can be an appropriate alternative if an orthodontist is not available due to geographical or economic constraints.
