In patients having a short nose with a short septal length and/or severe columellar retraction, a septal extension graft is a good solution, as it allows the dome to move caudally and pushes down the columellar base. Fixing the medial crura of the alar cartilages to a septal extension graft leads to an uncomfortably rigid nasal tip and columella, and results in unnatural facial animation. Further, because of the relatively small and weak septal cartilage in the East Asian population, undercorrection of a short nose is not uncommon. To overcome these shortcomings, we have used the septal extension graft combined with a derotation graft. Among 113 patients who underwent the combined procedure, 82 patients had a short nose deformity alone; the remaining 31 patients had a short nose with columellar retraction. Thirty-two patients complained of nasal tip stiffness caused by a septal extension graft from previous operations. In addition to the septal extension graft, a derotation graft was used for bridging the gap between the alar cartilages and the septal extension graft for tip lengthening. Satisfactory results were obtained in 102 (90%) patients. Eleven (10%) patients required revision surgery. This combination method is a good surgical option for patients who have a short nose with small septal cartilages and do not have sufficient cartilage for tip lengthening by using a septal extension graft alone. It can also overcome the postoperative nasal tip rigidity of a septal extension graft.
The purpose of this study was to establish a set of standard values for the form of the nose and its relationship to other craniofacial structures in young korean adults in angle's class I occlusion. The subjects were 40 (20 male, 20 female) Korean dental students in angle's class I occlusion. Lateral cephalometric radiographs were used to determine the form of the nose and its positon relative to other craniofacial structures. The results were obtained as followed. 1. There was a significance between the registered male and female measurements in nasal height(P<0.05). (Male: 58.23mm Female : 54.62mm) 2. There was a significance between the registered male and female measurements in nasal length(P<0.05). (Male : 54.18mm Female : 49.38mm) 3. The vertical distances from the tip of the nose in Korean adults were significantly greater in the male(P<0.05) and were smaller in both sex in comparison with caucasian.

Flow phenomena such as the pressure transients Inside a high-speed railway tunnel and the Impulsive waves at the exit of the tunnel are closely associated with the characteristics of the entry compression wave, which is generated by a train entering the tunnel. Tunnel entrance hood may be an effective means for alleviating the Impulsive waves and pressure transients. The objective of the current work is to explore the effects of the train nose shape and the entrance hood on the characteristics of the entry compression wave. Numerical calculations using the method of characteristics were applied to one-dimensional, unsteady, compressible flow field with respect to high-speed railway/tunnel systems. Two types of the entrance hoods and various train nose shapes were employed to reveal their influences on the entry compression wave for a wide range of train speeds. The results showed that the entry compression wave length increases as the train nose becomes longer and the train speed becomes lower. The entry compression wave length in the tunnel with hood becomes longer than that of no hood. Maximum pressure gradient in the compression wavefront reduces by the entrance hood. The results of the current work provide useful data for the design of tunnel entrance hood.

This study analyzes the facial data required for sheet design in order to pursue the facial compatibility of disposable sheets used in facial mask products that are increasing in popularity as self-care methods. The subjects of the study were 23 facial measurements of 1,001 women in their 20s to 60s from Size Korea's 6th 3D data. Through factor analysis, sheet-related facial measurements were collected into six factors included in the vertical length of each part of the face: length of face surface from the ear to each part of the face, width of eyes, nose, lips, length of nose, vertical length of lower face, width of the head and width of chin. Three sheet face types were classified using six factor scores as variables, and the characteristics of each type differed according to age group. As a result of the discriminant analysis to identify the dimension items that classify the three cluster types, 12 contributing items were extracted out of 23 items. This study provides useful information and data for further studies of products requiring facial fitness.
Objectives This study was aimed to find the significant features of face form according to the Taeeumin and Soyangin by analyzing the three-dimensional face information data. Also, making standard face of the Taeeumin and Soyangin was an object of this study. Methods We collected three-dimensional face data of patients aged between 20~45 years old diagnosed by a specialist of Sasang constitutional medicine. The data were collected using a 3D scanner, Morpheus 3D(Morpheus Corporation, KOREA). Extracting a face feature point total of 64, was set to 332 pieces(height, angle, ratio, etc.) of each variable between feature points. ANOVA test were used to compare the characteristics of subjects according to the Taeeumin and Soyangin. Results When not to consider gender, the Taeeumin and Soyangin were different from the 18 items(3 items in the ear, 9 items in the eye, 1 item in the nose, 1 item in the mouth, 4 items in the jaw). When to consider gender, the Taeeumin and Soyangin men were different from the 6 items(1 item in the ear, 2 items in the nose, 3 items in the face). And the Taeeumin and Soyangin women were different from 17 items(1 item in the ear, 10 items in the eye, 2 items in the nose, 1 item in the mouth, 3 items in the face). Conclusions These results show Taeeumin's face(both men and women) width of the right and left is larger than the length of the top and bottom. Compared to men of Soyangin, men of Taeeumin has greater wings of the nose. Compared to women of Soyangin, women of Taeeumin has longer length of the eye. Soyangin's face(both men and women) length of the top and bottom is larger than the width of the right and left. Compared to men of Taeeumin, men of Soyangin has smaller wings of the nose. Compared to women of Taeeumin, women of Soyangin has more stereoscopic facial features at the top and bottom of the lateral face. Also, by accumulating three-dimensional face data, this study modeled the standard facial features by Taeeumin and Soyangin. These results may be helpful in the development of Sasang constitutional diagnostics utilizing the characteristics of the facial form at later.
In this paper, the behavior of woven E-glass fabric composite laminate was experimentally investigated under quasi-static indentation and high velocity impact by flat-ended, hemispherical, conical (cone angle of $37^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$) and ogival (CRH of 1.5 and 2.5) cylindrical perforators. Moreover, the results are compared in order to explore the possibility of extending quasi-static indentation test results to high velocity impact test results in different characteristics such as perforation mechanisms, performance of perforators, energy absorption, friction force, etc. The effects of perforator nose shape, nose length and nose-shank connection shapes were investigated. The results showed that the quasi-static indentation test has a great ability to predict the high velocity impact behavior of the composite laminates especially in several characteristics such as perforation mechanisms, perforator performance. In both experiments, the highest performance occurs for 2.5 CRH projectile and the lowest is related to blunt projectiles. The results show that sharp perforators indicate lower values of dynamic enhancement factor and the flat-ended perforator represents the maximum dynamic enhancement factor among other perforators. Moreover, damage propagation far more occurred in high velocity impact tests then quasi-static tests. The highest damage area is mostly observed in ballistic limit of each projectile which projectile deviation strongly increases this area.

The next generation of Korean high-speed train under development will be designed for the maximum operating speed of 350km/h and maximum speed of 400km/h. This high-speed operation may cause the noise and vibration problems around tunnel exit due to the higher micro-pressure wave than present level. In this study, the nose shape optimization was conducted for the countermeasure against these problems. Axi-symmetric solver was used for numerical simulation, and response surface was used for efficiency of optimization process. Also the multi-step optimization was conducted to find out more accurate optimal shape. Through these analysis and optimization, it was found out that the optimal nose shapes for minimization of micro-pressure wave are definitely different along the nose length variation. And the mechanism of micro-pressure wave reduction was closely investigated by the analysis of generation process of compression wave in tunnel. The results are expected to be used as design guideline for performance improvement of the next generatin of Korean high-speed train.

This paper describes on aerodynamic analysis based on the truncation rate of guided-weapon nose using computational fluid dynamics. The shape to perform the analysis is only the body of the guided weapon and the diameter to length ratio is 10.7. Three nose shapes were selected and hemisphere, 25% and 50% truncation were compared. For the accurate CFD analysis of the body, the grid method and the analytical method were selected and verified using NASA wind tunnel test data. For the three nose shapes, the drag analysis for the flight Mach number is 6~20% different. This difference was analyzed by the pressure distribution from nose to base.
Purpose: In patients with unilateral cleft lip and nose deformity, alar retraction is commonly seen on the non-cleft side after cleft side is corrected. Spacer graft was used to drag down the inferior border of the alar cartilage of the non-cleft side so as to match the cleft side. By performing spacer graft and septal extension graft together, symmetry and cosmetic improvements were achieved. Methods: Seven unilateral cleft lip and nose deformity patients underwent surgery for alar retraction correction. The median age was 24 years (ranged from 15 to 34 years), and the median follow-up period was 7.4 months (ranged from 6 to 12 months). The perpendicular length from the longitudinal axis of the nostril to the alar rim, the nasolabial angle and the ala-labial angle were measured in the lateral view photo. The longest perpendicular length from the cephalic border of the alar rim to the parallel line of the alar base was measured in the frontal view photo. Results: Improvement in alar retraction was seen after the surgery. There were no specific complications during the follow-up and the symmetry of both nostrils was satisfactory. No increase in the nasolabial angle or exposure of the nostrils was seen after the tip projection via tip plasty. Conclusion: The fundamental factor in correcting alar retraction with secondary cleft lip and nose deformity is repositioning the alar rim with spacer graft, which seems to be more physiologic than other methods. The method combining spacer graft with septal extension graft will bring symmetry as well as more cosmetic improvement in correction of alar retraction with secondary cleft lip and nose deformity.
