  • This paper presents a nonlinear least squares decision feedback equalizer Bilinear systems are attractive because of the ability to approximate a large class of nonlinear systems efficiently. The nonlinearity of channel is modeled using a bilinear system. The algorithms are derived by using the QR decomposition for minimization covariance matrix of prediction error by applying Givens rotation to the bilinear model. Result of computer simulation experiments that compare the performance of the bilinear DFE to two other DFE's in eliminating the intersymbol interference caused by a nonlinear channel are presented In the paper.

  • The authors have recently proposed a new method for identifying Volterra kernels of nonlinear control systems by use of M-sequence and correlation technique. A specially chosen M-sequence is added to the nonlinear system to be identified, and the crosscorrelation function between the input and output is calculated. Then every crosssection of Volterra kernels up to 3rd order appears at a specified delay time point in the crosscorrelation. This method is applied to a saturation-type nonlinear feedback control system of mechanical-electrical servo system having torque saturation nonlinearity. Simulation experiments show that we can obtain Volterra kernels of saturation-type nonlinear system, and a good agreement is observed between the observed output and the calculated one from the measured Volterra kernels.

  • A nonlinear engine torque and speed control algorithm using throttle angle control is developed with an engine load torque estimation algorithm. Three 3-dimensional nonlinear engine maps as a part of the nonlinear control algorithm are obtained from steady state engine dynamometer tests. An electric throttle actuator is developed using a stepper motor and a 8 bit micro-processor. The speed control and external load estimation algorithm are tested via engine speed control experiments, and show performance good enough for using various engine torque and speed control applications.

  • The pneumatic vibration isolation systems have been widely used in industry and laboratories, but the full mathematical analysis and nonlinear modeling techniques have not been reported yet, even while the nonlinear features of the pneumatic vibration isolation system decide the main characteristics. For instance, the orifice in a pneumatic vibration isolator has been traditionally considered as a simple viscous damper, which was too much simplified to explain the performance of the isolation system. In this paper, the nonlinear characteristics are considered for the orifice and chamber, etc. The numerical simulation is carried out by the MATLAB/Simulink software. From the analysis result, a clear trend of the nonlinear features is shown: the vibration transmissibility changes not only due to the excitation frequency but also due to the amplitude of the vibration excitation. Therefore various design parameters are optimally chosen for the vibration isolation system. The proposed methods show good compatibility between the analysis results and the experiments.

  • This paper presents nonlinear and parallel design for synchronous pipelining in IP-based H.264 decoder implementation. Since H.264 decoder includes the dataflow of feedback loop, the data dependency requires one NOP stage per pipelining latency to drop the throughput into 1/2. Further, it is found that, in execution time, the stage scheduled for MC is more occupied than that for CAVLD/ITQ/DF. The less efficient stage would be improved by nonlinear scheduling, while the fully-utilized stage could be accelerated by parallel scheduling of IP. The optimization yields 3 nonlinear {CAVLD&ITQ}|3 parallel (MC/IP&Rec.)| 3 nonlinear {DF} pipelined architecture for IP-based H.264 decoder. In experiments, the nonlinear and parallel pipelined H.264 decoder, including existing IPs, could deal with full HD video at 41.86MHz, in real time processing.

비선형 보상기와 외란관측기를 이용한 공기압 실리더의 위치제어 (Position Control of a Pneumatic Cylinder with a Nonlinear Compensator and a Disturbance Observer)

  • A position controller which can achieve a specified dynamic performance irrespective of the different operating position of the pneumatic cylinder is proposed. The position controller developed in this paper is composed of a nonlinear compensator and a disturbance observer. The nonlinear compensator which feeds back position, velocity and acceleration is derived from the nonlinear dominating equations of the position control system to compensate for variation of dynamic characteristics of a pneumatic cylinder according to the change of the operating position. The disturbance observer including a simplified linear model is designed to reduce the effect of model discrepancy in the low frequency range which cannot be suppressed by the nonlinear compensator. The results of the experiments show that the position control performance maintains a designed performance regardless of the variations of an operating position of the pneumatic cylinder.

  • In this paper, we proposed a new robust control scheme to implement stable control of robot manipulators including nonlinear perameters The proposed robust controller is composed of a nonlinear controller and linear compemsation controller. It shows a good robust performance in reaching mode which does not possess invariance property. Thus, the proposed nonlinear controller showed a good robust performance in the whole region, It was illustrated that the proposed control showed a good transient response and trajectory tracking performance for robot manipulator with four joint by experiments.

  • Many researchers had considered biological systems as linear systems. In many cases of biological systems, the phenomena that show the regular and periodic dynamics are considered the normal state. However, some clinical experiments reported, in some cases, the periodic signals represented the abnormal state. We assume that signals from human body system are generated from deterministic, intrinsic mechanisms and can be represented a simple equation that show nonlinear dynamics dependent on control parameters. The objective of our study is to model a nonlinear dynamics correctly from the nonlinear time series using the genetic programming method; to find a simple equation of nonlinear dynamics using collected time series and its nonlinear characteristics. We applied genetic programming to model RR interval of ECG that shows chaotic phenomena. We used 4 statistic measures and 2 fractal measures to estimate fitness of each chromosome, and could obtain good solutions of which chaotic features are similar.

Van de Vusse 반응기 동특성을 구현하는 액위시스템 및 제어 실험 (Liquid Level System Realizing Van de Vusse Reactor Dynamics and its Control Experiments)

  • Van de Vusse 반응기는 정상상태 입출력 관계에서 최대값을 그리고 이 최대값을 기준으로 동특성의 형태가 크게 바뀌는 특성을 보인다. 운전영역에 따라 정상상태 이득의 부호가 바뀌고, non-minimum phase 동특성 등의 제어를 매우 어렵게 하는 특성들이 나타난다. 매우 많은 비선형제어 방법들과 새로이 고안되고 있는 방법들이 이 Van de Vusse 반응기 공정에 적용되어 그 성능 검증이 이루어지고 있다. 이 반응기의 실제 예가 보고되어 있으나, 화학반응 특성상 제어기 실험에 일상적으로 사용되기에는 어려움이 많아 대부분 모사연구에 그치고 있다. 여기서는 이 Van de Vusse 반응기의 특성을 모두 구현하는 액위시스템을 제작하고, 새로이 고안되는 비선형 제어기의 성능을 밝히는 기준이 될 수 있는 간단한 두 제어 방법의 실험 결과를 제안하고자 한다. 액위시스템 실험장치와 제안된 제어 방법들은 매우 간단하며, 비선형 제어기의 성능과 현장 적용 가능성을 검증하는데 유용하게 사용될 수 있을 것이다.

  • 비선형소자를 사용한 주파수체배기의 효율은 소자의 특성에 따라 변화한다. 비선형 저항소자를 사용하여 이체배된 마이크로파주파수를 얻었고 체배기의 효율은 이론치와 측정치로 비교하였다. 비선형 저항소자를 사용한 주파수체배기의 효율은 주파수에 관계없이 역방향대순방향의 저항비에 비례하여 증가함을 보았다.
