Motion planning with planar geometric models

  • We present algebraic algorithms for collision-avoidance robot motion planning problems with planar geometric models. By decomposing the collision-free space into horizontal vertex visibility cells and connecting these cells into a connectivity graph, we represent the global topological structure of collision-free space. Using the C-space obstacle boundaries and this connectivity graph we generate exact (non-heuristic) compliant and gross motion paths of planar curved objects moving with a fixed orientation amidst similar obstacles. The gross motion planning algorithm is further extended (though using approximations) to the case of objects moving with both translational and rotational degrees of freedom by taking slices of the overall orientations into finite segments.

The application of neural network system to the prediction of pollutant concentration in the road tunnel

  • In this study, it was purposed to develop the new method for the prediction of pollutant concentration in road tunnels. The new method was the use of artificial neural network with the back-propagation algorithm which can model the non-linear system of tunnel environment. This network system was separated into two parts as the visibility and the CO concentration. For this study, data was collected from two highway road tunnels on Yeongdong Expressway. The tunnels have two lanes with one-way direction and adopt the longitudinal ventilation system. The actually measured data from the tunnels was used to develop the neural network system for the prediction of pollutant concentration. The output results from the newly developed neural network system were analysed and compared with the calculated values by PIARC method. Results showed that the prediction accuracy by the neural network system was approximately five times better than the one by PIARC method. ill addition, the system predicted much more accurately at the situation where the drivers have to be stayed for a while in tunnels caused by the low velocity of vehicles.

  • 게임의 장르가 다양해지고 대규모의 온라인 게임이 가능해 징에 따라 게임 환경과 더불어 게임 안에 등장하는 캐릭터의 수도 많아지고 있다. 게이머에 의해 움직이는 캐릭터 외에도 여러 종류의 다양한 NPC(Non-Player Character)들이 각각 맡은 임무를 띠고 각기 움직이게 된다. 본 논문에서는 NPC들의 자연스러운 이동을 위해 제안된 일반화 가시성그래프를 이용하여 계획된 경로의 효과적인 구현을 위한 조타행동(steering behaviors)과 경로 이동 중에 만나는 다른 캐릭터에 대한 NPC들의 조타행동을 정의하고 구현하여 이동에 따른 효율을 실험해 본다.

Efficient Algorithms for Approximating the Centroids of Monotone Directions in a Polyhedron

  • We present efficient algorithms for computing centroid directions for each of the three types of monotonicity in a polyhedron: strong, weak, and directional monotonicity, which can be used for optimizing directions in many 3D manufacturing processes. Strongly- and directionally-monotone directions are the poles of great circles separating a set of spherical polygons on the unit sphere, the centroids of which are shown to be obtained by applying the previous result for determining the maximum intersection of the set of their dual spherical polygons. Especially in this paper, we focus on developing an efficient method for approximating the weakly-monotone centroid, which is the pole of one of the great circles intersecting a set of spherical polygons on the unit sphere. The original problem is approximately reduced into computing the intersection of great bands for avoiding complicated computational complexity of non-convex objects on the unit sphere, which can be realized with practical linear-time operations.

  • In the article, an analysis of the factors was carried out, which injected into the efficiency of the function of navigation systems in the minds of unimportance. Carrying out analyzes allowing for the visibility of relevant direct adjustments to the effectiveness of the function Inertial navigation systems in the minds of non-value. The designation of the navigation system was assigned to a complex of navigation systems on ships processing of the vector of navigation parameters, so that they can be victorious in the control systems of the ship's collapse, and the safety of floating is safe.

부산 지역 미세먼지 농도의 시간변동 특성 및 기상인자 분석을 통한 먼지생성 해석 (Characteristics of Time Variations of PM10 Concentrations in Busan and Interpreting Its Generation Mechanism Using Meteorological Variables)

  • In an effort to interpret the characteristics of fine particle concentrations in Busan, time variations of hourly monitored concentrations $PM_{10}$ (Particulate Matter with aerodynamic Diameter ${\le}10\;{\mu}m$) in Busan are analyzed for the period from 2000 to 2005. The characteristics of aerosol second generation formation process is also interpreted qualitatively, by using the statistical analysis of the meteorological variables including temperature, wind speed, and relative humidity. The result shows some significant annual, seasonal, weekly and diurnal variations of $PM_{10}$ concentrations. In particular, seasonal(i.e., spring) variations are governed by frequency of yellow sand events even for the non-yellow sand cases where yellow-sand days are eliminated in our analysis. However, in seasonal variation, summer season predominate lower $PM_{10}$ concentrations due to the frequent precipitation, and weekly and diurnal variations are both found to be reflecting the emission rate from traffic amount. Correlation coefficients between $PM_{10}$ concentration and meterological variables for non-yellow sand days show overall negative correlation with visibility, wind speed, cloud amounts, and relative humidity. However for non-precipitation days, during non-yellow sand period positive correlation are found clearly with relative humidity, suggesting the importance of secondary aerosol formation in Busan that can be achieved by both homogeneous aerosol formation and heterogeneous transformations resulting from hygroscopic aerosol characteristics.

웨이브릿 변환 영역에서 스토케스틱 영상 모델을 이용한 적응 디지털 워터마킹 (Adaptive Digital Watermarking using Stochastic Image Modeling Based on Wavelet Transform Domain)

  • 본 논문에서는 쌍직교 웨이브릿 영역에서 워터마크를 삽입할 수 있는 연속 부대역 양자화 및 스토케스틱 다해상도 특성을 갖는 지각 모델을 제안한다. 적응 워터마킹 알고리즘을 갖는 지각모델은 보다 강인한 워터마크 은닉을 위한 방법으로 연속 부대역 양자화(successive subband quantization: SSQ)에 의해서 텍스쳐 및 에지 영역에 삽입한다. 워터마크 삽입은 국부 영상 특성을 갖는 NVF(noise visibility function)함수에 의해 계산된다. 이 방법은 워터마크가 노이즈 특성을 갖기 때문에 영상의 통계적 특성에 기초한 비정상상태(non-stationary state) 가우스 모델과 정상상태(stationary state) 일반화 가우스(generalized Gaussian: GG)모델을 이용한다. 정상상태 GG모델의 삽입은 다해상도 내의 각 부대역별 분산과 형상계수(shape parameter)를 사용한다. 형상계수를 추정하기 위하여 모멘트 정합 방법을 사용한다. 비정상상태 가우스 모델은 각 부대역의 국부 평균 및 분산을 이용한다. 실험결과 우수한 비가시성과 강인성을 확인하였으며, 공격에 대한 실험으로 Stirmark 3.1 benchmark test를 수행하였다.

Improving the Reception Performance of Legacy T-DMB/DAB Receivers in a Single-Frequency Network with Delay Diversity

  • This paper describes a simple delay diversity technique for terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting (T-DMB) and digital audio broadcasting in a single-frequency network (SFN). For the diversity technique, a delay diversity scheme is adopted. In the delay diversity scheme, a non-delayed signal is transmitted in the first antenna, and delayed versions of the signal are transmitted in each additional antenna. For an SFN environment with multiple transmitters, delay diversity can be executed by controlling the emission times of the transmitters. This SFN delay diversity scheme does not require any hardware changes in either the transmitter or receiver, and perfect backward compatibility can be acquired. To evaluate the performance improvement, laboratory tests are executed with various types of commercial T-DMB receivers as well as a measurement receiver. The improvement in the bit error rate performance is evaluated using a measurement receiver, and an improvement of the threshold of visibility value is evaluated for commercial receivers. Test results show that the T-DMB system can obtain diversity gain using the described technique.

MULTI-SENSOR DATA FUSION FOR FUTURE TELEMATICS APPLICATION

  • In this paper, we present multi-sensor data fusion for telematics application. Successful telematics can be realized through the integration of navigation and spatial information. The well-determined acquisition of vehicle's position plays a vital role in application service. The development of GPS is used to provide the navigation data, but the performance is limited in areas where poor satellite visibility environment exists. Hence, multi-sensor fusion including IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), GPS(Global Positioning System), and DMI (Distance Measurement Indicator) is required to provide the vehicle's position to service provider and driver behind the wheel. The multi-sensor fusion is implemented via algorithm based on Kalman filtering technique. Navigation accuracy can be enhanced using this filtering approach. For the verification of fusion approach, land vehicle test was performed and the results were discussed. Results showed that the horizontal position errors were suppressed around 1 meter level accuracy under simulated non-GPS availability environment. Under normal GPS environment, the horizontal position errors were under 40㎝ in curve trajectory and 27㎝ in linear trajectory, which are definitely depending on vehicular dynamics.

안개제거의 깊이 맵 추정을 위한 비선형 모델 (Nonlinear model for estimating depth map of haze removal)

  • 안개가 낀 악조건의 날씨에서는 가시성이 저하되어 카메라로 포착한 정보들을 정확히 인식하기 어렵다. 안개 낀 날씨에서도 사물인식, 차선 인식 등 카메라 기반의 기기들이 정상 동작할 수 있도록 안개제거 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 안개 영상에서 밝기와 채도의 차이가 영상의 깊이에 따라 비선형적으로 증가한다는 분석을 통해 깊이 맵 추정을 위한 비선형 모델을 제시한다. 비선형 모델의 안개 제거 방법은 여러 가지 안개제거 방법과의 정량적 수치평가(MSE, SSIM, TMQI)를 통해 동등 이상의 결과를 보여줌으로써 우수한 성능을 자랑한다.
