Background: Despite muscle latency times and patterns were used as broad examination tools to diagnose disease and recovery, previous studies have not compared the dominant arm to the non-dominant arm in muscle latency time and muscle recruitment patterns during reaching and reach-to-grasp movements. Objects: The present study aimed to investigate dominant and non-dominant hand differences in muscle latency time and recruitment pattern during reaching and reach-to-grasp movements. In addition, by manipulating the speed of movement, we examined the effect of movement speed on neuromuscular control of both right and left hands. Methods: A total of 28 right-handed (measured by Edinburgh Handedness Inventory) healthy subjects were recruited. We recorded surface electromyography muscle latency time and muscle recruitment patterns of four upper extremity muscles (i.e., anterior deltoid, triceps brachii, flexor digitorum superficialis, and extensor digitorum) from each left and right arm. Mixed-effect linear regression was used to detect differences between hands, reaching and reach-to-grasp, and the fast and preferred speed conditions. Results: There were no significant differences in muscle latency time between dominant and non-dominant hands or reaching and reach-to-grasp tasks (p>.05). However, there was a significantly longer muscle latency time in the preferred speed condition than the fast speed condition on both reaching and reach-to-grasp tasks (p<.05). Conclusion: These findings showed similar muscle latency time and muscle activation patterns with respect to movement speeds and tasks. Our findings hope to provide normative muscle physiology data for both right and left hands, thus aiding the understanding of the abnormal movements from patients and to develop appropriate rehabilitation strategies specific to dominant and non-dominant hands.

Even if the linearly separable patterns can be classified by the conventional single layer perceptron, the non-linear problems such as XOR can not be classified by it. A fuzzy single layer perceptron can solve the conventional XOR problems by applying fuzzy membership functions. However, in the fuzzy single layer perception, there are a couple disadvantages which are a decision boundary is sometimes vibrating and a convergence may be extremely lowered according to the scopes of the initial values and learning rates. In this paper, for these reasons, we proposed an enhanced fuzzy single layer perceptron algorithm that can prevent from vibration the decision boundary by introducing a bias term and can also reduce the learn time by applying the modified delta rule which include the learning rates and the momentum concept and applying the new linear activation function. Consequently, the simulation results of the XOR and pattern classification problems presented that the proposed method provided the shorter learning time and better convergence than the conventional fuzzy single layer perceptron.

Viscosities of $LaCl_3$-CsCl binary melts were measured by the capillary method over the range of their liquidus temperatures to about 1200 K. The cell constant were determined by using pure water. The results obtained are summerized as follows: Viscosities of melted $LaCl_3$ were decreased with the content of CsCl for all over the composition range of binary melts. Composition versus viscosity relation for the binary melt showed a non-linear relationship from the additivity line and the deviations showed a maximum value at about 60 mol% CsCl. This suggest the existence of the complex ion of $LaCl_4{^-}$ in the melt. Activation energy for the viscous flow of the binary melts decreased monotonously with the increasing content of CsCl after a few increasement till 40 mol% CsCl. All of these results were the resemble with the viscosities of $LaCl_3$-NaCl binary melts.
In this study, drying kinetics of onion slices was examined in a laboratory scale vacuum dryer at an air temperature in a range of $50-70^{\circ}C$. Moisture transfer from onion slices was described by applying the Fick's diffusion model, and the effective diffusivity was calculated. Temperature dependency of the effective diffusivity during drying process obeyed the Arrhenius relationship. Effective diffusivity increased with increasing temperature and the activation energy for the onion slices was estimated to be 16.92 kJ/mol. The experimental drying data were used to fit 9 drying models, and drying rate constants and coefficients of models tested were determined by non-linear regression analysis. Estimations by the page and Two-term exponential models were in good agreement with the experimental data obtained.

Electric Conductivities of $LaCl_3$-LiCl binary melts have been measured by the Kohlausch bridge method over the range of their liquidus temperatures to about 1200 K. The electric conductivity increases with the content of LiCl for all over the composition range of binary melts. Composition dependence of the electric conductivity and molar conductivity for the binary melt shows a non-linear relation from the additivity line, and the deviations displays a maximum value at about 60 mol % LiCl. This suggest the existence of the complex ion of$ LaCl_{4}^{-}$ in the melt. Activation energy for electric conductivity of the binary melts decrease monotonously with increasing content of LiCl.l.
Solvolyses of methanesulfonyl chloride (CH3SO2Cl) in water and methanol have been studied theoretically using ab initio self-consistent reaction field (SCRF) molecular orbital method. All stationary structures including transition state on the potential energy surface in solution have been found and compared with the gas phase structures. The overall reaction occurs via a concerted SN2 mechanism with a non-cyclic trigonal bipyramidal transition state, and the activation barrier is lowered significantly in solution. The transition state for the hydrolysis reaction is looser than that for the methanolysis reaction, and this is in accord with the experimental findings that an SN2 type mechanism, which is shifted toward an SN1 process or an SAN process in the hydrolysis and alcoholysis reaction, respectively, takes place. The catalytic role of additional solvent molecules appears to be a purely general-base catalysis based on the linear transition structures. Experimental barrier can be estimated by taking into account the desolvation energy of nucleophile in the reaction of methanesulfonyl chloride with bulk solvent cluster as a nucleophile.

Current investigation aims to analyze the characteristics of magnetohydrodynamic boundary layer flow of bioconvection Casson fluid in the presence of nano-size particles over a permeable and non-linear stretchable surface. Fluid passes through the Darcy-Forchheimer permeable medium. Effect of different parameter such as Darcy-Forchheimer, porosity parameter, magnetic parameter and Brownian factor are investigated. Increasing Brownian factor leads to the rapid random movement of nanosize particles in fluid flows which shows an expansion in thermal boundary layer and enhances the nanofluid temperature more rapidly. For large values of Darcy-Forchheimer, magnetic parameter and porosity factor the velocity profile decreases. Higher values of velocity slip parameter cause decreasing trend in momentum layer with velocity profile.
The effects of aluminum nanoparticles (AlNs) on the thermal decomposition of ammonia perchlorate (AP) were investigated by DSC, TG-DSC and DSC-TG-MS-FTIR. Addition of AlNs resulted in an increase in the temperature of the first exothermic peak of AP and a decrease in the second. The processing of non-isothermal data at various heating rates with and without AlNs was performed using Netzsch Thermokinetics. The dependence of the activation energy calculated by Friedman's isoconversional method on the conversion degree indicated the decomposition process can be divided into three steps. They were C1/D1/D1 for neat AP, determined by Multivariate Non-linear Regression, and changed to C1/D1/F2 after addition of AlNs into AP. The isothermal curves showed that the thermal stability of AP in the low temperature stage was improved in the presence of AlNs.

Selenium is an antioxidant trace element linked to cardiovascular disease and cancer. Although diet is a major source, relatively little else is known about independent determinants of selenium levels in free-living humans. In this study, we aimed to investigate the independent demographic. lifestyle, and dietary determinants of selenium levels in 1,997 men and 1,905 women in two large prospective U.S. cohorts. Toenail selenium levels were quantified using neutron activation analysis. Diet, geographic residence, demographic, and environmental factors were assessed by validated self-administered questionnaires. Multivariate generalized linear models were conducted to assess the independent relations of these factors with toenail selenium levels, correcting for measurement error in the diet. In multi variable-adjusted analyses, independent predictors of higher selenium were male gender (6.3% higher levels); living in West and Northern-Midwest U.S. regions (8.9% and 7.4% higher than Southern-Midwest regions, respectively); consumption of beef and bread products (between 0.7 - 2.5% higher per daily serving); and selenium supplement use (6.9% higher than non-users); whereas cigarette smoking (5-10% lower than never smokers), older age (0.6% lower per 5 years), and consumption of eggs, white rice, dairy products, coffee, and alcohol (between 0.1 to 2.0% lower per daily serving) were associated with lower selenium. Multiple dietary and non-dietary factors independently predicted selenium levels, suggesting that both consumption and non-dietary processes (e.g.. related to oxidant status) may affect levels. Significant geographic variation in selenium levels exists in the US.

The objective of this study is to investigate an effect of curing temperature on autogenous shrinkage of high strength cement mortar with 0.15 of W/B incorporating fly ash and silica fume in terms of equivalent age. The contents of fly ash and silica fume are varied from 10% to 30%. Non linear regression model applying equivalent age was used to estimate the autogenous shrinkage evolution. To obtain apparent activation energy($E_a$), setting time method by Pinto and existing method were calculated and compared respectively. Test results showed that use of silica fume increased autogenous shrinkage while use of fly ash decreased it. It was also found that poor agreements were obtained when $E_a$ by setting time was applied. But, application of existing $E_a$ resulted in a good agreement between calculated autogenous shrinkage and measured one.
