CFD를 이용한 부분흡입형 터빈 공력형상 설계 (Aerodynamic Shape Design of a Partial Admission Turbine Using CFD)

  • Aerodynamic shape design of a partial admission turbine using CFD has been performed. Two step approaches are adopted in this study. Firstly, two-dimensional blade shape is optimized using CFD and genetic algorithm. Initially, the turbine cascade shape is represented by four design parameters. By controlling the design parameters as variables, the non-gradient search is analyzed for obtaining the maximum efficiency. The final two-dimensional blade proved to have a more blade power than the initial blade. Secondly, the three-dimensional CFD analysis including the nozzle, rotor and stator has been conducted. To avoid a heavy computational load due to an unsteady calculation, the frozen rotor method is implemented in steady calculation. The frozen rotor method can detect a variation of the flow-field dependent upon the blade's circumferential position relative to the nozzle. It gives a better idea of wake loss mechanism starting from the lip of the nozzle than the mixing plane concept. Finally, the combination of two and three dimensional design method of the partial admission turbine in this study has proven to be a robust tool in development phase.

선형 탄성지반 위에 놓인 압축부재의 자유진동 (Free Vibrations of Compressive Members Resting on Linear Elastic Foundation)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate both the fundamental and some higher natural frequencies and mode shapes of compressive members resting on the linear elastic foundation. The model of compressive member is based on the classical Bernoulli-Euler beam theory. The differential equation governing free vibrations of such members subjected to an axial load is derived and solved numerically for calculating the natural frequencies and mode shapes. The Improved Euler method is used to integrate the differential equation and the Determinant Search method combined with the Regula-Falsi method to determine the natural frequencies, respectively. In numerical examples, the hinged-hinged, hinged-clamped, clamped-hinged and clamped-clamped end constraints are considered. The convergence analysis is conducted for determining the available step size in the Improved Euler method. The validation of theories developed herein is also conducted by comparing the numerical results between this study and SAP 90. The non-dimensional frequency parameters are presented as the non-dimensional system parameters: section ratio, modulus parameter and load parameter. Also typical mode shapes are presented.

잠제가 설치된 유공형 해수교환방파제의 도수량 특성 분석 (Analysis of Discharge Characteristics for the Seawater Exchange Breakwater Composed of Tunneled Breakwater and Submerged Mound)

  • Five parameters such as the entrance size of the front wall, conduit size, wave period, wave height and the width of water pool were selected to estimate the inflow rate, which is basic and essential input data to design seawater exchange breakwater with a submerged mound by conducting hydraulic model experiments. In the results of multiple regression analysis, log-log equation showed a good agreement rather than linear equation and the estimation of inflow rate was well done with only two parameters except entrance size of the front wall, wave period and the width of water pool. Finally, non-dimensional flow rate equation is derived.

  • 이 논문은 두 변수 탄성지반 위에 놓인 불연속 변단면 수평 곡선부재의 자유 진동에 관한 연구이다. 회전관성과 전단변형효과를 고려하여 두 변수 탄성지반 위에 놓인 변단면 수평 곡선부재의 자유진동을 지배하는 무차원 상미분방정식을 유도하였다. 변단면은 불연속 변단면으로 채택하였고, 회전-회전, 회전-고정 및 고정-고정의 단부조건을 갖는 원호형, 포물선형, 정현형, 타원형 곡선보의 고유진동수를 산출하였다. 수치해석의 결과로 무차원 고유진동수와 곡선부재의 변수들 사이의 관계를 표 및 그림에 나타내었으며 진동형의 예를 그림과 같이 나타내었다.

$\textsc{k}$-ι 난류모형을 이용한 연안류 수치해석 (Numerical Modelling of Longshore Currents using $\textsc{k}$-ι Turbulence Closure)

  • 2-방정식 난류모형을 이용하여 단순파에 의해 발생하는 연안류를 해석하였다. 난류운동에 관한 2-방정식으로 $ extsc{k}$-ι 보존식을 사용하여 계산된 유속분포 뿐 아니라 확산계수 분포도 비교하여 보았는데, 두 분포 모두 상당히 만족스러웠다. ι 보존식을 구성하는데 있어 몇 가지 항들은 난류운동과 관련되는 여러 변수들을 조합하여 경험식으로 만들어야 하는데 본고에서 ι 보존식에 사용되는 난류발생주파수로 새로운 형태를 제시하며, 제 경험상수들은 실험자료와 대비하여 추정하였다. 적용된 각 경험상수에 대하여 여러 수치를 적용하여 민감도분석을 실시하였으며, 여러 조건의 실험자료에 공통적으로 일치하는 상수를 추출하여 수치모형의 예측성을 높이고자 하였다.

Probabilistic bearing capacity of circular footing on spatially variable undrained clay

  • The present paper investigates the spatial variability effect of soil property on the three-dimensional probabilistic characteristics of the bearing capacity factor (i.e., mean and coefficient of variation) of a circular footing resting on clayey soil where both mean and standard deviation of undrained shear strength increases with depth, keeping the coefficient of variation constant. The mean trend of undrained shear strength is defined by introducing the dimensionless strength gradient parameter. The finite difference method along with the random field and Monte Carlo simulation technique, is used to execute the numerical analyses. The lognormal distribution is chosen to generate random fields of the undrained shear strength. In the study, the potential failure of the structure is represented through the failure probability. The influences of different vertical scales of fluctuation, dimensionless strength gradient parameters, and coefficient of variation of undrained shear strength on the probabilistic characteristics of the bearing capacity factor and failure probability of the footing, along with the probability and cumulative density functions, are explored in this study. The variations of failure probability for different factors of safety corresponding to different parameters are also illustrated. The results are presented in non-dimensional form as they might be helpful to the practicing engineers dealing with this type of problem.

미출산 여성과 출산 여성의 맥파 비교 - 난임 맥파 지표 연구를 위한 - (A Study on the Pulse Wave Parameter in Non Delivery and Delivery Women)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the differences of pulse wave parameter between the non delivery group (single women with no childbirth experience) and the delivery group (married women who gave birth(s) in delivery). Methods : Sixty one healthy (non delivery) nulliparous women and fifty three delivery women participated in this study. We used 3 dimensional pulse analyser(3D MAC, DAEYOMEDI co., Korea), which measures radial pulse waveform non-invasively by way of tonometry method at 5 different applied pressure levels. From 114 subjects enrolled, pulse wave parameters were measured on the six locations of Chon, Kwan and Cheok of each hands. Results : Delivery group's pulse showed larger values in the following pulse wave parameters (Energy, Ap, RAI, As, Aw, h1, h2, h4, h4/h1, t, t1, t2, t4, Wm, Wm/t). Non delivery group's pulse indicated larger values in the pulse wave parameters such as Energy of left Chon, difference pulse energy between left and right hand, Ad, h5, h5/h1, t5. Conclusions : According to the analysis result, delivery group's pulse has bigger values in most part of pulse wave parameters, especially in Kwan and Cheok which correspond to Liver, Kidney, and Myeong-mun. We interpret these results that delivery women are more mature and stable in reproductive organs than non delivery group, as they have experienced delivery(deliveries) and child-caring through married life.

Investigation of bar parameters occurred by cross-shore sediment transport

  • Cross-shore sediment transport is very important factor in the design of coastal structures, and the beach profile is mainly affected by a number of parameters, such as wave height and period, beach slope, and the material properties of the bed. In this study cross-shore sediment movement was investigated using a physical model and various offshore bar geometric parameters were determined by the resultant erosion profile. The experiments on cross- shore sediment transport carried out in a laboratory wave channel for initial base slopes of 1/8, 1/10 and 1/15. Using the regular waves with different deep-water wave steepness generated by a pedal-type wave generator, the geometrical of sediment transport rate and considerable characteristics of beach profiles under storm conditions and bar parameters affecting on-off shore sediment transport are investigated for the beach materials with the medium diameter of $d_{50}$=0.25, 0.32, 0.45, 0.62 and 0.80 mm. Non-dimensional equations were obtained by using linear and non-linear regression methods through the experimental data and were compared with previously developed equations in the literature. The results have shown that the experimental data fitted well to the proposed equations with respect to the previously developed equations.

  • Investigated via a series of finite-element(FE) process simulation is the effect of diverse process variables on some selected non-dimensional parameters characterizing the thermo-mechanical behavior of the roll and strip in hot strip rolling. Then, on the basis of these parameters, on-line models are derived for the precise prediction of the temperature changes occurring in the bite zones as well as in the inter-stand zones in a finishing mill. The prediction accuracy of the proposed models is examined through comparison with predictions from a FE process model.

  • The paper presents a critical analysis of selected topics related to the modeling of interacting species in which prey has nonlinear reproduction, which is in competition with predator. The mathematical model's stochastic stability is investigated. The method of designing appropriate Lyapunov functions is used to identify permanence conditions among the parameters of the model and conditions for the structure to no longer be extinct. The system's two-dimensional diffusive stability is regarded and studied. The system experiences the process of saddle-node bifurcation by varying the death rate of predator parameter. Further effects of parameters that undergo inherent oscillations are numerically investigated, revealing that as the intensity of predation parameter b is increased, the device encounters non-periodic and damped oscillations.
