Development of a Noise Map in Neighboring Areas Around Korean Train Express Line and Analysis of the Related High Speed Railway Noise Influence (한국형 고속철도 노선 주변 지역의 소음 지도 작성과 소음 영향 분석)

  • The purpose of present study is to develop a noise map around Korean Train Express (KTX) line. It is also to evaluate the high speed railway noise influence in neighboring areas around KTX. In order to develop the noise map, noise source modeling and 3-D noise radiation simulation have been performed by means of SoundPLAN program. The result of the noise map has been verified in comparison with the measured noise level. Noise measurements have been performed at 15 locations around KTX line. At each locations, 6 microphones were located 1.5m and 3m above the ground at each of 25m, 50m and 75 m distances from a center of the KTX track. The noise map showed clearly the high speed railway noise influence in neighboring areas around KTX line. The present study has also showed the noise could be reduced by using noise barriers constructed at severely noise-exposed locations.

A Study on the Influence Analysis of noise and shaking in Fishing Area of the Surface of Sea (해수면 어장에서의 소음.진동영향분석 연구)

  • This study is on the purpose that the influence caused by noise and shaking through construction works shall be ranged to the fishing species of fishing area of the surface of sea. This study have been performed through analysis of physical effect by the value of noise and shaking test. The resulted purpose of this study has been carried out regarding whether influence factor of the fishing species and others are related or not as per the noise and shaking. For the purpose of the survey of noise and shaking, observances have been performed regarding the direct water surface of fishing area are as well as undersea. As for this result, the influence area for the injury at the fishing area caused by the noise and shaking have been stretched out to the distance of 10km from the source of sound. In this conclusion, this study is regarded as the reference basis of the compensation of injury for the species of fish and others in fishing area.

Ambient Underwater Noise in the Somjin Estuary (섬진강 하구에서의 수중 환경 소음)

  • This paper describes that air noise and underwater noise in the Somjin Estuary are measured and analysed to get the basic data to find out the influence of environment on the underwater. The results obtained are summerized as follows: 1. The spectrum level of air noise in the Somjin Estuary increases until 500Hz, and decreases a little over 2KHz. 2. The spectrum level of underwater noise in the Somjin Estuary increases from 50 Hz to 1 KHz, but it decreases over 1 KHz as the depth is deeper. 3. When the influence of other factors is scarce but the influence of flowing speed is significant, the noise level seems to be higher at speedy layer than at slower layer. 4. The underwater sound level seems to be wider at speedy layer than at slower layer.

Psychological Reduction Effect of Road Traffic Noise Perception by the Visual Information of Landscape components (조경요소의 영상을 이용한 도로교통소음 인지도의 심리적인 저감효과에 대한 연구)

  • The influence of the visual information on the sound perception would be considerable. Furthermore, if the sound perception ranges in noisiness or annoyance beyond the loudness, it will depend much more on the shape of the visual information. This paper aims to estimate the influence of the several kinds of visual information on the perception of road traffic noise by means of the psycho-acoustic test method. The findings of present study on the influence of visual information on subjective noise perception are summarized as follows: Presenting visual images of mild and comfortable scenery reduced the noise perception reaction at the less noisy environments not exceeding 65 dB(A). At highly noisy environments exceeding 65 dB(A), however, the noise perception can be reduced by strong image of waterfall. Even eliminating the road traffic image may be helpful. Visual image of waterfall reduced the noise perception at all levels. It is inferred that the road traffic noise perception can be effectively ameliorated by presenting strong and real landscape images at any noisy environment.

  • The firing noise produced at artillery test range or military training ground is impulsive burst noise which energy is generated within tens of milliseconds and distributed an isolated burst of sound energy separated to one by one noise. The long range propagation of this noise is affected by a caliber of gun, amount of propellant, distance between source and receiver, ground and meteorological condition. In this paper, main influence parameters have been described based on experimental analysis of measured data. It is considered that this analysis result can be used as useful materials for study of effective firing noise management and development of propagation model.

  • In order to minimize the influence of aircraft noise in the vicinity of domestic airports, the establishment of proper land-use plan according to the influence scope of aircraft noise in the opening part of preparing a housing site around domestic airports is needed. For the purpose of doing it, the environmental impact assessment accompanied by the accurate prediction of aircraft noise distribution is preceded, and this paper describes the improvement plan for performing the trustworthy environmental impact assessment of aircraft noise in the neighborhood of domestic airports.

  • In the sound insulation measurements, the influence of background (extraneous) noise is often serious problem and how to reduce its effect and to improve the signal-to-noise(S/N) ratio is an important theme. As the background noise, such extraneous noises as road traffic noise and machine noise often disturb the measurement. In laboratory measurements on specimens with high sound insulation performances, even the internal noise of the measurement system can become a problem. To improve the signal-to-noise ratio and to improve the measurement accuracy, various kinds of digital signal processing techniques can be applied. In this paper, four kinds of digital signal processing techniques are applied and their effectiveness is examined by a simple sound insulation measurement.

  • The purpose of this study is to present a fundamental data for evaluating aircraft noise of building site development. By the field experiments and the predicted equal noise level contours using the INM program, actual condition in the building site development arranged district was investigated. In order to get the results, Analysis of factors effected on noise level, sound level on the rate of increase to aircraft demand and difference on the aircraft noise levels according to floor level in apartment house was carried out. As a result the influence of the take-off and landing direction were appeared greatly. The influences of the height at receiving point, movement number of aircraft and increase to aircraft demand were appeared small And the influence of 1 day average WECPNL must be considered.

  • The present study investigates the effects of the flight paths of military aircraft on noise map and its WECPNL(Weighted Equivalent Continuous Perceived Noise Level) distribution. Aircraft noise modeling and simulation have been performed on a Korean military air base by means of INM(Integrated Noise Model) with the input data of airfield location, aircraft specifications, flight paths and aircraft's operation schedules. The result of noise modelling has been verified in comparison with the result of measured noise level. The flight path of military aircraft, as the key parameter of the present study, was modeled by combining takeoff, overfly, approach and touch-and-go modes. The present INM simulations have been conducted for various flight path cases with different takeoff, approach modes and overfly modes. The simulation results showed that the change of flight path can remarkably affect the noise influence region and the WECPNL distribution around the airfield.
