  • This work investigated the electromechanical performance of a cantilevered vibration energy harvester incorporating the single crystal PMN-PZT, manufactured with the most recent technology of solid-state single crystal growth. The performances of single crystal PMN-PZTs with two different crystallographic axes such as [011] and [001] are compared with those of PZT ceramics. From the investigations, it is shown that the [001]-poled PMN-PZT is advantageous for the excitations containing single dominant frequency component, while the single crystal [011]-$d_{32}$ is superior in terms of the energy storage density and energy conversion efficiency.

  • The active noise control (ANC) technique attenuates acoustic noise in a flexible and effective way. Traditional ANC design aims to minimize the residual noise energy, which is indiscriminative in the frequency domain. However, human hearing perception exhibits selective sensitivity for different frequency ranges. In this paper, we aim to improve the noise attenuation performance in perceptual perspective by incorporating noise weighting into ANC design. We also introduce psychoacoustic analysis to evaluate the sound quality of the residual noise by using a predictive pleasantness model, which combines four psychoacoustic parameters: loudness, sharpness, roughness, and tonality. Simulations on synthetic random noise and realistic noise show that our method improves the sound quality and that ITU-R 468 noise weighting even performs better than A-weighting.

  • The vibration generated by the machinery on board is transmitted to the hull and into the water. At the early design stage, the prediction of the hull vibration and the radiated noise level is very important to reduce their levels. In this study, SAE(Statistical Energy Analysis) technique is applied to predict structureborne noise level of the hull considering fluid loading. Rayleigh integral is applied to predict the radiated noise level. The results of comparision between the predictions and measurements for the reinforced cylindrical shell have shown good agreements.

  • It is recent trend that the manufactures of refrigerator use BLDC motor which RPM is changed by voltage of DC power, instead of induction motor in order to reduce energy consumption and noise radiation. It can be controlled two or more RPM suitable to environmental condition. For example it is operate much lower RPM than normal(usual) in the night. This paper introduce the method of noise control in the case of using BLDC Fan motor for refrigerator.

  • With recent advanced in portable electric devices, wireless sensor, MEMS and bio-Mechanics device, the new typed power supply, not conventional battery but self-powered energy source is needed. Particularly, the system that harvests from their environments are interests for use in self powered devices. For very low powered devices, environmental energy may be enough to use power source. In the generality of cases, these energy harvesting systems are used in the piezoelectric materials as mechanisms to convert mechanical vibration energy into electric energy. Through the piezoelectric materials, the ambient vibration energy could be used to prolong the power supply or in the ideal case provide endless energy f9r the devices. Therefore, the piezoelectric power harvesting cantilever beam is developed. Also, the output voltage and power are predicted in this study. We also discuss the developing system of the piezoelectric energy scavenger. An experimental verification of the model is also performed to ensure its accuracy.

  • Structure-borne noise is the interior noise that results from the low frequency vibrational energy transmitted through those body and joint parts. The relation between the excitation of powertrain and resultant interior sound must be analyzed in order to identify and predict the structure borne noise. The method of acoustic source excitation is preferred than the method of mechanical force excitation to measure the NTF(noise transfer function). Because acoustical method is more convenient and reliable. In this paper, to analysis and identify vehicle interior noise by powertrain is performed, and the vibro-acoustic transfer function is extracted from experimental measurement. These are important step of TPA(transfer path analysis) to identify effect of interior noise resulted from powertrain running excitation.

  • Wind turbines produce aerodynamic noise which fluctuate periodically at a blade passing frequency. This sound characteristic is called amplitude modulation, or swishing sound. Several previous studies claimed that this amplitude modulation has a possibility to increase noise annoyance. Thus, this study performed a listening test to find the relationship between the amplitude modulation in wind turbine noise on noise annoyance. The stimuli for the listening test was recorded from a 1.5MW wind turbine in Jeju island. The result of the listening test shows that the amplitude modulation in wind turbine noise significantly increase noise annoyance. Moreover, this study analytically examined the effect of amplitude modulation on noise perception. The result indicates that amplitude modulated sound can be easily perceived even though the background noise level is higher than the sound level of the signal.

  • Generally, container carrier has larger engine than other commercial vessels and the engine casing is located in accommodation space. Therefore, the noise levels of cabins and engine room could be exceeded the specified noise limits and might be an annoyance to crews, and which can result in poor ship quality. Main subject of this study is to predict noise levels of the 4,500 TED container carrier by statistical energy analysis method in order to comply with contracted noise limits and to compare with the measured values. Additionally, through the contribution analysis of noise sources to each cabins, and appropriate countermeasures are proposed and the reduction effect of each noise control measure is studied by the analysis method. This study will contribute to reduce the noise levels of similar vessel.

  • This paper presents a composite control strategy for the active suppression of vibration due to the unknown disturbances, such as external excitation, harmonic effects and control spillover, as well as high-frequency accelerometer measurement noise in the all-clamped stiffened plate. The proposed composite control action based on the modal approach, consists of two contributions including feedback part and feedforward part. The feedback part is the well-known PID controller, which is widely used to increase the structure damping and improve its dynamic performance close to the resonance frequencies. In order to get better performance for vibration suppression, the weight matrixes is optimized by chaos sequence. Then an improved disturbance observer (IDOB) as the feedforward compensation part is developed to enhance the vibration suppression performance of PID under various disturbances and uncertainties. The proposed IDOB can simultaneously estimate the various disturbances dynamically as well as measurement noise acting on the system and suppress them by feedforward compensation design. A rigorous analysis is also given to show why the IDOB can effectively suppress the unknown disturbances and measurement noise. In order to verify the proposed composite control algorithm (IDOB-PID), the dSPACE real-time simulation platform is used and an experimental platform for the all-clamped stiffened plate active vibration control system is set up. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness, practicality and strong anti-disturbances ability of the proposed control strategy.
