  • Lately concerns about structure have been increased by advantages of floor impact noise, poilitical induction and changeability. Hence, Flat Plate Structure has been constructed increasingly. This study shows the comparison of the performance of sound insulation of Flat Plate Structure System and the existing Wall Structure. For this study, taking the same level organization of Daelim Architectural Environmental Research Center, I found the performance of sound insulation between the upper and lower floors about Wall Structure and Flat Plate Structure. Consequently, the performance of sound insulation between upper and lower floors of Flat Plate Structure was 3-5dB higher was approximately 3-5dB higher than one of Wall Structure. Especially, the performance of sound insulation on the upper floor was 1-3dB higher than on the lower floor. In addition, as the result of comparing radiation sound which radiates from the wall of lower floors with each structure system, Flat Plate Structure was about 4dB higher with Rw than Wall Structure. As we see totally, the performance of sound insulation of Flat Plate Structure is highter than one of the Wall Structure. It is 3-5dB higher and the main reason for this result depends on the existence of the wall which can radiate sound and nonexistence.

  • A-Scan NDT equipment is widely used in the industrial field because it is inexpensive and easy to carry but it is necessary to have a skilled inspection specialist who is trained to analyze the waveform of ultrasonic signal. Since the welding quality is judged subjectively by the specialist, there is a problem in the reliability of the quality. In the C-Scan NDT which overcomes the shortcomings of the A-Scan, welding part can be represented in the form of two dimensional image by combining one dimensional ultrasonic waveform so that the quality of welding can be grasped without the help of specialist. In order to develop C-Scan NDT, it is necessary to develop an array type two dimensional transducer and an algorithm to composing image by combining ultrasonic signals generated from a two dimensional transducer. In addition, the noise component must be minimized in the ultrasonic signal in order to display the quality of welding in the form of images. Therefore we propose a method to remove noise component from the ultrasonic wave and construct a two dimensional ultrasonic image.

  • Transition jitter noise is one of major sources of detection errors in high density recording channels. Implementation complexity of the optimal detector for such channels is high due to the data dependency and correlated nature of the jitter noise. In this paper, two types of hardware efficient sub-optimal detectors are derived by modifying branch metric of Viterbi algorithm and applied to partial response (PR) channels combined with run length limited modulation coding. The additional complexity over the conventional Viterbi algorithm to incorporate the modified branch metric is either a multiplication or an addition for each branch metric in the Viterbi trellis.

  • In this paper, we verify the performance of LDPC coded OFDM/DS system by Monte-Carlo simulation of BER on Eb/No. The simulation results show that LDPC coded OFDM/DS has a strong anti-jamming characteristic over pulse-noise jammer and partial-band noise jammer. The performance of LDPC coded OFDM/DS system is evaluated on both faded waveforms and non-faded waveforms. For non-faded waveforms, high coding gain is attained due to LDPC, even when waveforms have short PN sequence and JSR is only 5dB. Especially, the increase in the repeated number of LDPC decoding enhances coding gain. However, faded waveforms cannot achieve sufficient average effect when PN sequence is short. High coding gain of faded waveforms can be achieved by extending length of PN sequence. In addition, we compare LDPC coded OFDM/DS system with Convolutional coded OFDM/DS system. The simulation results illustrate that when LDPC coded OFDM/DS system with short PN sequence has sufficient average effects, the system shows lower BER than Convolutional coded OFDM/DS system with long PN sequence.

  • The application fields of the image processing get gradually diversified as the society develops to the highly leveled digital information era and is highlighted as an important field. Especially, many studies on image restoration, a key technology in the image processing have been carried out. This paper proposed a filter which applies the directivity and spatial weighting based on the degraded pixels in order to restore the image degraded in the high density salt and pepper noise environment. In addition, this paper compared this filter with the current methods for objective judgment using PSNR(peak signal to noise ratio) as a criterion of judgment.

  • In this paper, the two sample locally optimum rank detector is obtained in the weakly dependent noise with non-zero temporal correlation between noise observations. The test statistic of the locally optimum rank detector is derived from the Neyman-Pearson lemma suitable for the two sample observation models, where it is assumed that reference observations are available in addition to regular observations. Two-sample locally optimum rank detecter shows the same performance with the one-sample locally optimum rank detector asymptotically. The structure of the two-sample rank detector is simpler than that of the one-sample rank detector because the sign statistic is not processed separately.

  • In establishing silent environment such as automobile and industrial instrument, the roles of the insulating materials are critical. The proper and effective positioning of insulating materials is essential in the field of noise as well as in designing silent automobile. In this paper, we proposed the systematic and efficient scheme for optimizing complete automotive interiors for noise control. In order to attain this purpose, following analysis has been carried out: First, measuring the Biot parameters of insulating materials and the transmission loss with reflecting the appropriate arrangement of insulating materials has been experimented. In addition, we made comparison among transmission loss by the tools of analysis and verification, experimental value under consideration of various situations of automobile and analysis by the SEA.

  • Structure-borne noise and vibration is one of the main complaints of home appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, etc. There have been many efforts to reduce the emitting noise and vibration. Mostly the efforts have been concentrated to optimize the mounts shape and its material properties realizing that the vibration power is mainly transmitted to the structure via mounts. It is known that softer mounts have the better vibration isolation effect. But mounts have another important function in addition to the vibration isolation. That is to support the motor and compressor safely. Thus mounts should be stiff enough to resist the supporting items. But the two properties, stiff and soft, are contradict each other. So the designer should compromise the two complicity properties properly in between. Noticing that, motors and compressors themselves are very quite until they are connected to the base structure via mounts, wire connecting idea was proposed in this work. Instead of using conventional mounts, as shown in Fig 4, compressor was mounted using six wires as shown in Fig 5. Since wire is very flexible in bending but stiff in tension, we can realize the ideal mount design requirements, stiff enough to support and soft enough to isolate vibration power. The suggesting idea was tested with an air conditioner outdoor unit.

  • The feasibility of passive detection of fishes which had been caught in the fishing grounds near the Korean peninsula was theoretically investigated. Considering the commercial importance and the acoustical informations readily identified, although many species of fish make noise, Croaker is clarified to be a representative fish for passive fish detection. Assuming a source level of the sound produced by croakers is given as 150-18OdB (re 1l'pa, 500 Hz bandwidth), The range detected by a passive line array sonar is estimated to be about 3-20km. In addition, the tonal noise (700~800Hz) made by croaker that is easily separated from underwater noise is expected to increase the ability to discriminate from the other species of fish.

  • Recently, many scholars have emphasized the importance of English listening ability for smoother communication. Most audio materials, however, were recorded in a quiet sound-proof booth. Therefore, students who have spent so much time listening to the ideal audio materials are expected to have difficulty communicating with native speakers in the real life. In this study, we examined how well thirty three Korean university students and five native speakers will repeat the recorded English sentences under noise and speed conditions. The subjects' production was scored by listening to each recorded sentence and counting the number of words correctly produced and determined the percent ratios of correctly produced words to the total words in each sentence. Results showed that the student group correctly repeated around 65% of all the words in each sentence while the native speakers demonstrated almost perfect match. It seemed that the students had difficulty perceiving and repeating function words in various conditions. Also, high-proficiency student group outperformed the low-proficiency student group particularly in their repetition of function words. In addition, the student subjects' accuracy of repetition remarkably dropped when the normal sentences were both sped up and mixed with noise. Finally, it was observed that the Korean students' percent correct ratio fell down as the stimulus sentence became longer.
