표면처리된 탄소나노튜브의 질소 및 산소관능기 도입에 따른 전기화학적 특성 (Combined effect of nitrogen- and oxygen functional groups on electrochemical performance of surface treated multi-walled carbon nanotubes)

  • In this work, the electrochemical properties of the surface treated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) are investigated for supercapacitors. Nitrogen- and oxygen functional groups containing MWNTs are prepared by nitrogen precursors and acidic treatment, respectively. The surface properties of the MWNTs are confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Zeta-potential measurements. The electrochemical properties of the MWNTs are investigated by cyclic voltammetry, impedance spectra, and charge-discharge cycling performance in 1 M $H_2SO_4$ at room temperature. As a result, these functionalized MWNTs lead to an increase in the specific capacitance as compared with the pristine MWNTs. It proposes that the pyridinic and pyridinic-N-oxides nitrogen species influence on the specific capacitance due to their positive charges, and thus an improved electron transfer at high current loads, since they are the most important functional groups affecting capacitive behaviors.

Plasma Characterization of Facing Target Sputter System for Carbon Nitride Film Deposition

  • The plasma properties in the facing target sputtering system during carbon nitride film deposition have been investigated. The ionized nitrogen species of the deposited films increased with increasing discharge current and were independent of the nitrogen pressure. The nitrogen content in the films did not vary significantly with the variation of nitrogen gas. The electron temperature was high close to that in the inter-cathode region, reduced as the electrons moved away from the most intense region of magnetic confinement and increased again outside this region. Calculations based on the film composition showed that the ion to carbon atom ratio at the substrate was about 50 and that the ratio between the ionized and neutral nitrogen molecules was about 0.25.

Mycelial Growth of Edible Ectomycorrhizal Fungi According to Nitrogen Sources

  • Ectomycorrhizal fungi are associated with plants roots and acquire significant amounts of nitrogen sources from the soil. For artificial cultivation, mass production of ectomycorrhizal fungi in liquid media is required. We studied the edible ectomycorrhizal mushrooms Hygrophorus russula, Ramaria fumigata, Sarcodon aspratus, and Tricholoma matsutake. All strains except S. aspratus NIFoS 2031 grew generally well on modified Melin-Norkran's (MMN) medium compared to on other media. All strains analyzed in this study showed significantly higher growth on organic nitrogen. Specifically, two strains of H. russula significantly responded to both tryptone and neopeptone media. Among different species and strains, there were clear differences in the capacity to grow on animal-based organic nitrogen sources.

금화 철원지역 자연초지의 군락구조, 생산력, 재생력 및 토양특성에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Composition, Productivity, Regrowth and Soil Properties of Grasslands in Kimhwa and Chuiwon Areas)

  • The investigation was made on the relationship among vegetation, net productivity, regrowth and soils of Moonheri-Wasoori, Soodowon-Sungilkyo and Mt. Kumhak grasslands in Chulwon area. The following conclusions have been made as the results of this study. The vascular flora of the grassland in Moonheri-Wasoori was composed of 102 species, the most of which were Medicago denticulata, Miscanthus sinensis, Arundinella hirta, Festuca ovina and Cassia nomame. The flora of Soodowon-Sungilkyn grassland was composed of 74 species, the most of which were Arundinella hirta, Miscanthus sinensis, Carex nanella, Festuca ovina and Cassia nomame. It of Mt. Kumfiak grassland was composed of 78 species, the most of which were Arundinella hirta, Carex nanella, Festuca ovina, Miscanthus sinensis and Aster scaber. These five species contributed greatly to the standing crop of live material which was in excess of 60% of it. The peak standing crop of each 413.7, 307.6 and $348.7g /m^2$ in Moonheri-Wasoori, Soo- dowon-Sungilkyn and Mt. Kuruhak grasslands wars reached in August under flooded conditions as a result of the growth of dominant species, Medicago denticulata and Arundinella hirta. The net prodution of organic matter was slight in some intervals but occurred throughout the growing season After cutting of grasses, the regrowth of new leaves mainly depended on growing stage and edaphic factors. Characteristics of the natural grassland soils, especially, concerning water, total nitrogen, avail-able phosphorus and exchangeable calcium were clarified and might be depend upon the quantity of plant production. Nitrogen, phosphorus and calcium concentration of leaves of Medicago denticulata, Arundinella hirta and Miscanthus sinensis were higher than of stems. Even if diem we diffurmem in the a-mb of nutrients among Medicago denticulata hirta and Miacanthus sinensis for single species and stands. they were covered by variations within species in the present survey. 몽골 반건조 지역에서 토양 개량이 백양나무와 비술나무 묘목의 활착 및 생장에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Soil Amendments on Survival Rate and Growth of Populus sibirica and Ulmus pumila Seedlings in a Semi-arid Region, Mongolia)

  • 본 연구는 몽골 반건조 지역 현지에서 토양 개량이 묘목의 활착 및 생장에 미치는 효과를 알아보기 위해 수행되었다. 이를 위하여 알칼리성 사질 토양인 연구대상지에 2년생 백양나무(Populus sibirica)와 비술나무(Ulmus pumila) 묘목을 심고 질소(시비량에 따라 2수준), 황, 인공보습제, 황토가공소재 등을 처리하였다. 4개월 뒤, 두 수종의 묘목 활착률은 질소 시비량의 증가에 따라 감소하였다. 일반적으로 질소의 시비는 양분을 공급하여 묘목의 활착률 및 생장을 높이는 것으로 알려져 있다. 그러나 본 연구 결과에서 나타난 활착률 감소는 과다시비로 인한 토양 삼투압의 증가에 의한 것으로 보인다. 두 수종 모두 황토가공물질 처리구에서 근원경 생장에 유의한 증가가 나타났다. 그리고 백양나무의 경우 인공보습제 처리구에서도 근원경 생장이 유의하게 증가하였는데, 이는 백양나무가 건조에 내성이 있음에도 불구하고 수분 요구도가 높은 포플러속에 속하기 때문인 것으로 보인다. 반면 황 처리는 두 수종의 활착률과 근원경 생장 모두에서 효과가 없는 경향이 나타났는데, 이는 건조지 토양의 낮은 황산화율 때문으로 추정된다. 향후 건조/반건조 지역에서 토양 개량의 장기적인 효과를 알아보기 위하여 묘목 생장 및 토양 특성에 대한 지속적인 모니터링이 요구되며, 연구 수종에 적합한 시비량 산정을 위한 추가 연구가 필요한 것으로 판단된다.

공단지역에서 생육하는 가로수 27종의 항산화특성과 잠재적 환경정화능력 (Antioxidant Characteristics and Phytoremediation Potential of 27 Taxa of Roadside Trees at Industrial Complex Area)

  • 대기오염물질을 정화하기에 적합한 수종을 탐색하기 위하여, 공단지역의 가로수로 식재된 27개 수종의 잎에서 항산화 능력, 과산화 지질 함량 및 질소함량을 조사하였다. 2깨 수종 중 항산화 능력이 가장 높은 수종은 개잎갈나무(91.4%) 이었고, 가장 낮은 수종은 벽오동(56.9%) 이었다. MDA함량이 가장 적은 수종은 배롱나무와 은행나무였으나, 양버즘나무, 구실잣밤나무, 후박나무 및 향나무에서는 높은 MDA 함량이 측정되었다. 낙엽활엽수의 항산화 능력은 상록수의 항산화 능력과 뚜렷한 차이가 없었으나, 낙엽활엽수의 MDA 함량은 상록수의 MDA 함량보다 낮게 나타났다. 27개 수종은 항산화 능력과 과산화지질 함량을 기준으로 하여 다음과 같이 4개의 범주로 구분하였다. 범주 I은 높은 항산화 능력과 낮은 과산화지질 함량을 가진 수종, 범주 II는 높은 항산화 능력과 높은 과산화지질 함량을 가진 수종, 범주 III은 낮은 항산화 능력과 낮은 과산화지질 함량을 가진 수종, 범주 IV는 낮은 항산화 능력과 높은 과산화 지질 함량을 가진 수종. 이들 4개 범주에 속하는 수종은 각각 7종(범주 I), 6종(범주 II), 8종(범주 3), 6종(범주 IV) 이었다. 높은 항산화 능력을 가진 범주 I과 II의 수종들은 낮은 질소함량을 나타냈으나, 낮은 항산화능력을 가진 범주 III과 IV의 수종들은 높은 질소함량을 나타냈다. 그러나 범주 I과 II에 속하는 메타세코이아, 굴피나무, 양버즘나무는 예외적으로 높은 항산화 능력과 높은 질소함량을 나타냄으로써 이들 수종들은 공단지역의 식재 수종으로 적합한 것으로 판단되었다.

연속배양에서 Microcystis aeruginosa의 질소 인 흡수와 생장 특성 (Nitrogen and Phosphorus Uptake and Growth Kinetics of Microcystis aeruginosa Cultured under Chemostats)

  • 연속배양의 평형 정상상태 조건에서 담수조류 Microcystis aeruginosa의 최대생장률 (${\mu}_m$)과 세포내 영양염의농도(Q)의 관계, 질소 결핍 상태에서 액체배지에서 영양염 농도(S)와 홉수율(V)의 관계를 각각 조사하였다. 질소제한조건에서 M. aeruginosa의 세포 당 $Q_{0N}$은 0.04 pmol $cell^{-1}$. ${\mu}_m$은 1.1 $day^{-1}$였고, 제한조건에서 최저값 $Q_{0N}$과 충분조건에서 $Q_N$을 탄소기준하여 각각 6.1 ${\mu}mol$ mg $C^{-1}$ 및 9.5${\sim}$12.4 ${\mu}mol$ mg $C^{-1}$였다. 다른 미세조류와 비교f'1면 세포의 질소 함량이 매우 높았고 질소 결핍시에도 그 함량이 높게 유지되어 질소 요구도가 높은 종이었다 질소 제한조건에서 영양염 홉수 측정 결과에서 반포화계수($K_s$)와 최대흡수율 ($V_m$)은 각각 36 ${\sim}$ 61 ${\mu}M$ 및 0.28 ${\sim}$ 0.35 ${\mu}mol\;cell\;{\cdot}\;hr^{-1}$ 범위였다. M. aeruginosa의 $K_5$값은 매우 높았고 $V_m$도 높은 편이었다. $K_s$와 흡수력 $V_m$은 미세조류의 영양상태 즉 영양염의 세포내 함량(Q)이나 제한영양염의 결핍의 강도의 영향을 받고 미세조류 생장균과도 관련이 있다. M. aeruginosa는 다른 미세조류에 비하여 세포내 질소 함량과 생장률이 높기 매문에 질소와 인에 대한 횹수율이 높을 것이다. 그러나 질소 흡수력의 반포화계수 $K_s$값이 높고 $V_m/K_s$비율은 낮아 수게에서 질소가 저농도 일 때에는 다른 미세조류와 비교하면 경쟁력이 떨어지고 질소에 대한 기질 친화력은 약한 것으로 나타났다. 낙동강 하류지역에서 M. aeruginosa가 대발생하는 시기에 수중 영양염의 농도 변동은 M. aeruginosa의 영양생리 kinetics 특성과 잘 부합하는 것으로 나타났다.

Fallow Cover Crop Species and Nitrogen Rate of Fertigated Solution on Cucumber Yield and Soil Sustainability in Greenhouse Condition

  • Nutrient accumulation in surface soil has become a serious problem for cucumber production in greenhouse. However, still in many cases, soil management practices are only focused on maintaining crop yield, regardless of sustainability related with soil chemical properties. This study was conducted to propose a sustainable soil management practice by investigating the impact of cover crop species and nitrogen rate of fertigated solution on cucumber yield and soil chemical properties in greenhouse condition. Rye and hairy vetch were tested as a fallow cover crop, and each amount of urea (1/2, 3/4, 1 times of N fertilizer recommendations), determined by soil testing result, was supplied in fertigation plots as an additional nitrogen source. The result showed that the yield of cucumber was higher in rye treatment than control and hairy vetch treatment. In addition, rye effectively reduced EC and accumulated nutrients from the soil. Meanwhile, N concentration of fertigated solution showed no significant effect on the growth and yield of cucumber. Consequently, these results suggest that it is desirable to choose rye as a fallow catch crop for sustainable cucumber production in greenhouse.

Unexpected Chemical and Thermal Stability of Surface Oxynitride of Anatase TiO2 Nanocrystals Prepared in the Afterglow of N2 Plasma

  • Passivation of surface defects by the formation of chemically inert structure at the surface of $TiO_2$ nanocrystals can be potentially useful in enhancing their photocatalytic activity. In this regard, we have studied the surface chemical states of $TiO_2$ surfaces prepared by a treatment in the afterglow of $N_2$ microwave plasma using X-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS). We find that nitrogen is incorporated into the surface after the treatment up to a few atomic percent. Interestingly, the surface oxynitride layer is found to be chemically stable when it's in contact with water at room temperature (RT). The surface nitrogen species were also found to be thermally stable upon annealing up to $150^{\circ}C$ in the atmospheric pressure. Thus, we conclude that the treatment of oxide materials such as $TiO_2$ in the afterglow of $N_2$ plasma can be effective way to passivate the surface with nitrogen species.

Influence of oxytetracycline on the fate of Nitrogen species in a recirculating aquaculture system

  • Common aquaculture practices include the use of certain pharmaceuticals such as antibiotics in avoiding diseases and promoting a healthier growth of the culture. The aim of this study is to monitor and assess the influence of different low oxytetracycline concentrations on the transformation of nitrogen compounds under aeration condition in a lab-scale recirculating aquaculture system (RAS). Over $1mg\;L^{-1}$ dose of oxytetracycline to aquaculture had induced ammonia($NH_4-N$), nitrate($NO_3-N$), soluble COD accumulation in RAS. In addition, nitrous oxide ($N_2O$) emission from RAS was significantly reduced during the oxytetracycline dose periods. After ceasing the dose of oxytetracycline, ammonia oxidation and nitrous oxide re-emission were observed. This observation indicated that low concentrations of oxytetracycline could affect the nitrogen species in RAS. Also, the emission mechanisms of $N_2O$ may not be only dependent on nitrification process but also dependent on denitrification process in our RAS system.
