  • In this paper, we aim to design and implement supporting IPv6 Bluetooth Access point(AP) in Linux. Bluetooth is a cable replacement technology designed for short range ad-hoc connections, which most likely change the way we handle and access information in the near future. In Personal Area Network(PAN) mobile devices need many IP address space, then we need next generation Internet Protocol(IPv6). We designed Bluetooth Access Point with Bluetooth stack and MAC bridge function in Linux. The implementation tested on Linux system based on Bluetooth Access Point with other Bluetooth devices.

천리안 위성을 활용한 위성 통신용 공공 테스트베드 운용에 관한 연구 (A Study of Public Test-bed Operation for Satellite Communications via COMS)

  • 본 논문에서는 현재 운용중인 천리안 위성을 활용한 위성 통신용 공공 테스트베드 시스템 구성 및 서비스 이용 현황에 대해 소개하고자 한다. 공공 시범 서비스 운용을 통해 차세대 VSAT 서비스 제공 시 Ka 대역의 활용도가 높아짐에 따른 광대역 멀티미디어 서비스가 가능할 것으로 된다. 또한, 향후 위성을 통한 UHD 방송을 통해 방송서비스의 보편적 접근성 향상을 예상해 본다.

  • VoIP(Voice over IP) is the technology to transport voice and video over IP networks such as Internet. Today, VoIP technology is viewed as the right choice for provide voice, video, and data communication over next generation network. We are sure that the multipoint VoIP will help enhancing the various application services in ubiquitous environment. The paper shows multipoint VoIP system implemented with end-point mixing model and introduces various embedded systems such as UFC(Ubiquitous Fashionable Computer), tourist guide terminal and industrial terminal which use the multipoint VoIP.

  • A new dynamic balancing algorithm has been proposed to minimize the number of sensors necessary for the horizontal balancing of the mobile inverted pendulum while maintaining the same level of the commercial performance. The inverted pendulum technique is getting attention and there have been many researches on the Segway since the US inventor Dean Kamen commercialized. One of the major problems of the Segway is that many sensors are required for the control of the Segway, which results in the high price. In this research, a single gyro and a tilt sensor are fused to obtain the absolute tilt information, which is applied for the control of the mobile inverted pendulum. A dynamic balancing technique has been developed and applied for a robust control system against disturbances. The intelligent handling and stable curving of the Segway as a next generation mobile tool are verified with a human loading.

차세대 음성통신 시스템을 위한 상호부호화 알고리듬 (A Transcoding Algorithm for the Next Generation Speech Communication System)

  • 본 논문에서는 비동기식 3 세대 이동통신망인 WCDMA의 표준 음성 부호화기인 AMR(Adaptive Multi-Rate)[1]과 VoIP(Voice over Internet Protocol) 응용분야에 최근 널리 활용되고 있는 ITU-T 8kbit/s 0.729A[2]의 효율적인 연동을 위한 상호부호화(transcoding) 알고리듬을 제안한다. AMR은 통신 채널 환경에 따라 4.75kbit/s부터 12.2kbit/s까지 가변 하여 통화품질을 보장한다. 따라서, 제안된 상호부호화 알고리듬은 순방향 8 모드, 역방향 8모드를 합하여 총 16모드를 지원한다. 제안된 알고리듬의 성능 평가를 위해 지연 추정, 연산량 측정과 주/객관적 음질평가를 수행한 결과, 제안한 알고리듬은 기존의 tandem보다 최소 5㎳의 짧은 지연, 평균 50.2%의 적은 연산량으로 우수한 음질의 복호화 음성 신호를 제공함을 확인하였다.

Performance Analysis of Future Video Coding (FVC) Standard Technology

  • The Future Video Coding (FVC) is a new state of the art video compression standard that is going to standardize, as the next generation of High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) standard. The FVC standard applies newly designed block structure, which is called quadtree plus binary tree (QTBT) to improve the coding efficiency. Also, intra and inter prediction parts were changed to improve the coding performance when comparing to the previous coding standard such as HEVC and H.264/AVC. Experimental results shows that we are able to achieve the average BD-rate reduction of 25.46%, 38.00% and 35.78% for Y, U and V, respectively. In terms of complexity, the FVC takes about 14 times longer than the consumed time of HEVC encoder.

분산 환경에서의 NGS를 위한 성능평가 도구 설계 (Design of Performance Evaluation Tool for NGS on distributed System)

  • NGS(Next Generation Storage) 시스템은 전형적인 분산파일 시스템 구조의 병목 현상을 제거하고 입출력 대역폭을 늘려 성능을 최대화 하기 위한 차세대 저장시스템으로 기존의 저장시스템과는 달리 DRAM을 기반으로 스토리지를 구성하고 있다. NGS 시스템의 대용량 지원 및 기업 내부에서의 활용을 위해서는 SAN 기반에서 활용할 수 있도록 설계되어야 하며, SAN 환경에서 성능 향상을 위한 연구가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 NGS 시스템에 대한 성능평가 및 분산 환경에서 NGS 를 활용하기 위한 성능평가도구 개발을 기술한다. 성능 도구의 활용은 전형적인 전체 시스템 아키텍처 내의 병목 현상을 제거하고 입출력 대역폭을 늘려 성능을 최대화 할 수 있어야 한다.

  • This paper describes elemental technologies for the creation of three-dimensional(3-D) sound-field to implement the next-generation Ship Handling Simulator with human -computer interaction, known as Virtual Reality. In the virtual reality system, Head-Related Transfer Functions(HRTF's) are used to generate 3-D sound environmental context. Where, the HRTF's are impulse response characterizing the acoustical transformation in a space. This work is divided into two parts, the part Ⅰis mainly for the model constructions of the HRTF's, the part Ⅱis for the control of 3-D sound-field by using the HRTF's . In this paper, as first part, we search for the theory to formulate models of the HRTF's which reduce the dimensionalityof the formulation without loss of any directional information . Using model HRTF's we report results from psychophysical tests used to asses the validity of the proposed modleing method.

  • Ubiquotuous technology should be adopted in railroad business to provide passenger's security and convenience. In this project, IT and smart sensor technologies are reviewed, benchmarked, designed, and implemented. The target system is the next generation high speed train to be developed and operated in Korea with the maximum speed of 400km/h. Wireless sensor network with smart sensors is implemented around a train car. PC-like IT terminal will be designed and implemented so an individual passenger can use it to do information retrieval through the Internet, personal data processing, the e-learning, shopping on the railroad, and so on. These provision will give comfort, convenience, and safety of a passenger during his/her trip.

High Throughput Radix-4 SISO Decoding Architecture with Reduced Memory Requirement

  • As the high-throughput requirement in the next generation communication system increases, it becomes essential to implement high-throughput SISO (Soft-Input Soft-Output) decoder with minimal hardware resources. In this paper, we present the comparison results between cascaded radix-4 ACS (Add-Compare-Select) and LUT (Look-Up Table)-based radix-4 ACS in terms of delay, area, and power consumption. The hardware overhead incurred from the retiming technique used for high speed radix-4 ACS operation is also analyzed. According to the various analysis results, high-throughput radix-4 SISO decoding architecture based on simple path metric recovery circuit is proposed to minimize the hardware resources. The proposed architecture is implemented in 65 nm CMOS process and memory requirement and power consumption can be reduced up to 78% and 32%, respectively, while achieving high-throughput requirement.
