Scheme for transmitting Data and TDM based on E-PON (E-PON 기반 데이터 및 TDM 전달을 위한 방안)

  • This paper addresses the scheme for transmitting Data and TDM signals based on E-PON. E-PON technology, that combines low-cost Ethernet technology and optical fiber infra-structure, has been appeared as a solution of next generation access network. The transmission speed of E-PON is 1Gbps and symmetric in both direction, such as downstream and upstream. Therefore, it is possible to save the cost through sample network architecture, efficient operation, and low maintenance cost of optical IP Ethernet network. By adding TBMoIP(Time Division Multiplexing over Internet Protocol) module to this E-PON system, and implementing QoS(Quality of Service) control function, this system can provide data and TDM service efficiently.

On the QoS Behavior of Self-Similar Traffic in a Converged ONU-BS Under Custom Queueing

  • A novel converged optical network unit (ONU)-base station (BS) architecture has been contemplated for next-generation optical-wireless networks. It has been demonstrated through high quality studies that data traffic carried by both wired and wireless networks exhibit self-similar and long range dependent characteristics; attributes that classical teletraffic theory based on simplistic Poisson models fail to capture. Therefore, in order to apprehend the proposed converged architecture and to reinforce the provisioning of tightly bound quality of service (QoS) parameters to end-users, we substantiate the analysis of the QoS behavior of the ONU-BS under self-similar and long range dependent traffic conditions using custom queuing which is a common queuing discipline. This paper extends our previous work on priority queuing and brings novelty in terms of presenting performance analysis of the converged ONU-BS under realistic traffic load conditions. Further, the presented analysis can be used as a network planning and optimization tool to select the most robust and appropriate queuing discipline for the ONU-BS relevant to the QoS requirements of different applications.

  • The ubiquitous-transportation sensor network (u-TSN) system is a next generation transportation system that provides traffic information through analysis and processing periodic information from vehicles. In this paper, we propose the adequate transmission scheme from vehicles for collecting vehicular information. The conventional scheme is transmitting each vehicle information every 0.1s. A variable transmission period scheme is proposed in this paper according to vehicle speed. The proposed and conventional schemes are compared with computer simulations.

  • Multiple antenna techniques employed in fourth generation mobile communication systems are affected on their performance mostly by transmission environments and antenna configurations. The performance of the indoor LTE(Long-term Evolution) MIMO(multiple input multiple output) has been rigorously evaluated with considering various diversity transmission schemes and propagation conditions in the paper. Specifically, MAC TP(medium access control throughput) and LTE system parameters related to the MIMO technique are analyzed for several indoor propagation conditions. The performance comparison between multiple antenna diversity mode and single antenna mode has been derived as well. The results performed in the paper give the guideline on antenna configurations of polarization diversity in LTE 2×2 MIMO for various indoor channel environments, and possibly are exploited by network operators and antenna manufacturers.

  • An inevitable trend in the next generation wireless network environments is coexistence of different wireless access networks in a complementary, manner. In addition, mobile devices equipped with multiple air interfaces simultaneously executing diverse applications have been emerging, In such network environment, It is required that a solution for mobile users to seamlessly roam between different access networks as well as to satisfy QoS requirements of each application by efficiently utilizing coexisting various wireless access networks. In this paper, therefore, we propose a mobility management platform based on per-application end-to-end mobility management and cross-layer handover controls. Four core functional modules composing the proposed platform for end user devices are defined: Monitoring Agents, Profile Database, Decision Engine, and IP Agent. We show through simulations that the presented platform provides an improved QoS as it selectively utilizes the best available networks.

  • Inter-RNC(radio network controller) and inter-BSC(base station center) hard handovers involve rerouting. Thus additional delay time for the new bearer setup and reroute determination should be considered. For theses kinds of handovers we propose a new scheme and coined it as ICHP(Inter-Cluster Handover Prediction). When a call approaches a boundary cell of a cluster, ICHP prepares for the handover by performing resource reservations and reroute computation in advance. Performance analysis shows that ICHP provides faster handover and that it lowers the blocking probability.

  • 최근 국내는 물론 전세계적으로 차세대 가입자망 구축이 활발히 진행되면서 EU를 중심으로 차세대 가입자망의 규제정책에 대한 논의가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 현재까지의 차세대 가입자망 관련 규제정책 논의는 차세대 가입자망 구축 활성화를 위한 투자 유인 제고 및 동등접근성 보장을 통한 경쟁활성화라는 두 가지 핵심 정책 목표에 초점이 맞추어져 있다. 이에 따라 EU의 차세대 가입자망에 대한 기본적인 규제정책 방향은 물론 유립내 각국들은 두 가지 핵심정책 목표 달성을 위한 차세대 가입자망 관련 구체적인 정책방향을 수립하고 다양한 정책대안을 제시하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 차세대 가입자망에 대한 기본적 개념, 국내외 차세대 가입자망 구축 현황과 EU 차원의 차세대 가입자망 규제정책 방향 및 EU 각국들의 정책 동향을 통해 국내 차세대 가입자망의 규제정책 수립시 고려해야 할 이슈들을 살펴보고자 한다.

  • 스마트 디바이스의 확대 및 IPTV, UHD등 광대역 멀티미디어의 수요가 증가함에 따라 트래픽이 폭증할 것으로 예상되는 상황에서 광가입자망은 이러한 급변하는 가입자망의 변화에 효과적으로 대처할 수 있는 기술로써 인터넷 서비스 사업자와 가입자를 연결하는 네트워크이다. 본 논문에서는 광가입자망에서 널리 사용되는 PON기술에 대한 기술 및 동향을 분석하고 차세대 네트워크로 거론되는 NG-PON2 기술에 대한 표준화 및 기술에 대해 분석한다.

  • 광통신 기술의 발달과 인터넷 서비스 수요의 급격한 증가로 2000년대 초반부터 광가입자망 연구 및 상용화가 이루어졌다. 최근에는 스마트폰 등 모바일 단말의 확산과 IPTV의 수요 증대에 따른 폭발적 트래픽 증가에 대처하기 위하여 친환경, 에너지 절감형 차세대 초고속 대용량 광가입자망 기술에 대한 요구가 증대되고 있다. 차세대 광가입자망은 국내뿐 아니라 국외에서도 다양한 프로젝트를 통해 전송 거리, 분기 수 및 전송 용량을 늘리는 방향으로 연구개발이 진행되고 있으며 기존의 TDM, WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing) 기술뿐만 아니라 무선 통신에서 사용되던 OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing) 등의 신호변조 기법들을 광가입망 기술에 접목하려는 시도들이 진행되고 있다. 이와 같은 광가입자망 기술들은 ITU-T, IEEE, IEC뿐만 아니라 FSAN(Full Service Access Network), BBF(Broadband Forum), MSF(Multi-service Forum) 등의 표준화 단체에서 활발히 국제표준화가 진행 중이다. 본고에서는 현재 진행되고 있는 차세대 광가입자망 기술에 대한 국내 외 기술개발 현황 및 표준화 현황을 살펴보고자 한다.

The Performance Analysis of Mobile Data Traffic Offload using LIPA in Femtocell Networks (펨토셀 네트워크에서 LIPA를 이용한 모바일 데이터 트래픽 오프로드 성능 분석)

  • In this paper, we first introduce a mobile data traffic offload method called Local IP Access (LIPA) with femtocell networks. Then, we evaluate the traffic transmission time and probability of mobile data traffic that is transmitted to the core network (CN) when mobile devices transmit the mobile data traffic to indoor devices in three different scenarios, i.e., conventional systems, femtocell based systems, and femtocell and LIPA based systems. Through performance results, it is shown that the next generation mobile network with the femtocell and LIPA not only decrease the density of the mobile data traffic in CNs but also reduce the total transmission time of the mobile data traffic in indoor environments. That is, for the traffic transmission time, the conventional systems and femtocell based systems have 3 and 4 times higher than the femtocell and LIPA based systems, respectively, when the Internet delay is 10ms while 14 and 26 times higher than that, respectively, when the Internet delay is 100ms.
