  • In this paper, Fengshui Theory Analysis Eunpyeong-New Town. The analysis frame is man and nature integrated, suit one measures to local conditions, analysis of macro environment site selection, analysis of micro environment site selection, analysis of traffic lines, orientations of residential analysis. The result is as follows: The analysis of the macro environment site selection of Eunpyeong-New Town at Northwest Mountain shape is open, so in the winter exposure of the northwest there is wind. Therefore, according to Fengshui there is a bad pattern formation. Analysis of the macro environment site selection has four animal frames seperated into two districts. The result is district one has "bad" ground. District two uses Bibo to restore small brooks so the formation has "good" ground. Finally, we use Fengshui of Bibo to propose solutions.

High Deformable Concrete (HDC) element: An experimental and numerical study

  • High deformable concrete (HDC) elements have compressive strength rates equal to conventional concrete and have got a high compressive strain at about 20% to 50%. These types of concrete elements as prefabricated parts have an abundance of applications in the construction industry which is the most used in the construction of tunnels in squeezing grounds, tunnel passwords from fault zones or swelling soils as soft supports. HDC elements after reaching to compressive yield stress, in nonlinear behavior have hardening combined with increasing strain and compressive strength. The main aim of this laboratory and numerical research is to construct concrete elements with the above properties so the compressive stress-strain behavior of different concrete elements with four categories of mix designs have been discussed and finally one of them has been defined as HDC element mix design. Furthermore, two columns with and without implementing of HDC elements have been made and stress-strain curves of them have been investigated experimentally. An analysis model is presented for columns using finite element method adopted by ABAQUS. The results obtained from the ABAQUS finite element method are compared with experimental data. The main comparison is made for stress-strain curve. The stress-strain curves from the finite element method agree well with experimental results. The results show that the dimension of the HDC samples is significant in the stress-strain behavior. The use of the element greatly increases energy absorption and ductility.

  • Recently, parking problems have repeatedly occurred not only in the residential areas of the old town, but in detached residential areas, neighborhood living facilities, and commercial areas of the planned New Town. This study suggests a strategy to minimize parking problems before constructing a New Town by reviewing these parking problems at the new city district planning stage. Parking problems can be divided into supply-demand and non-supply-based, and the solution strategy is reviewed in terms of supply and operation. The procedure for applying the solution strategy is proposed according to the effectiveness and ease of application.First, this paper suggests the PAZ (Parking Analysis Zone) as the basic analysis unit. Second, the supply-based parking problem in the concerned area based on the land use plan of Hanam Gyosan is reviewed. Last, solutions to a parking problem for each PAZ are presented.

  • The new spectrometer for X-ray Induced Electron Emission Spectroscopy (XIEES) .has been recently developed in KRISS in collaboration with PTI (Russia). The spectrometer allows to perform research using the XAFS, SXAFS, XANES techniques (D.C.Koningsberger and R.Prins, 1988) as well as the number of techniques from XIEES field(L.A.Bakaleinikov et all, 1992). The experiments may be carried out with registration of transmitted through the sample x-rays (to investigate bulk samples) or/and total electron yield (TEY) from the sample surface that gives the high (down to several atomic mono-layers in soft x-ray region) near surface sensitivity. The combination of these methods together give the possibility to obtain a quantitative information on elemental composition, chemical state, atomic structure for powder samples and solids, including non-crystalline materials (the long range order is not required). The optical design of spectrometer is made according to Johannesson true focusing schematics and presented on the Fig.1. Five stepping motors are used to maintain the focusing condition during the photon energy scan (crystal angle, crystal position along rail, sample goniometer rail angle, sample goniometer position along rail and sample goniometer angle relatively of rail). All movements can be done independently and simultaneously that speeds up the setting of photon energy and allows the using of crystals with different Rowland radil. At present six curved crystals with different d-values and one flat synthetic multilayer are installed on revolver-type monochromator. This arrangement allows the wide range of x-rays from 100 eV up to 25 keV to be obtained. Another 4 stepping motors set exit slit width, sample angle, channeltron position and x-ray detector position. The differential pumping allows to unite vacuum chambers of spectrometer and x-ray generator avoiding the absorption of soft x-rays on Be foil of a window and in atmosphere. Another feature of vacuum system is separation of walls of vacuum chamber (which are deformed by the atmospheric pressure) from optical elements of spectrometer. This warrantees that the optical elements are precisely positioned. The detecting system of the spectrometer consists of two proportional counters, one scintillating detector and one channeltron detector. First proportional counter can be used as I/sub 0/-detector in transmission mode or by measuring the fluorescence from exit slit edge. The last installation can be used to measure the reference data (that is necessary in XANES measurements), in this case the reference sample is installed on slit knife edge. The second proportional counter measures the intensity of x-rays transmitted through the sample. The scintillating detector is used in the same way but on the air for the hard x-rays and for alignment purposes. Total electron yield from the sample is measured by channeltron. The spectrometer is fully controlled by special software that gives the high flexibility and reliability in carrying out of the experiments. Characteristics of the Strategies and Plans for Activating Central Area in the Rural Town Regeneration Projects in Chungcheongbuk-do (충청북도 농촌중심지활성화사업에 적용된 거점강화전략과 계획의 특성)

  • Due to population decline and aging, many rural towns have become increasingly declining, and the government has been carrying out the rural town regeneration project to activate central area with the concept of compact city. The purpose of this study is to analyze the strategies and plans promoted in the rural town regeneration projects for the six towns in Chungcheongbuk-do and to identify their characteristics. The main subjects of the study are hardware plans such as the public facility plans and streetscape plans, which were carried out by local governments to revitalize the centre. In particular, the contents of each detailed plan, the location of each facility, detailed budget, and relationship between public facilities and commercial street in the six cases were analyzed by distribution map, relationship map and data comparison. Through this, the characteristics of the new application methods of each project to strengthen the central area were analyzed and classified into five types. The results of the study are to provide useful basic research to determine the direction of the project and select the contents of the plan in the rural town regeneration projects.

  • This study aims to research into a plan for the spatial design on the major facilities in new-town region in Mongolia by using the spatial analytical technique in GIS. In case of Mongolian region, the demand for new-town development is rapidly increasing around Ulaanbaatar, where is the capital. On the other hand, the adequately relevant ground or the spatial-design technique is failing to be applied. This study extracted the region available for developing new down by using spatial analytical technique in GIS, and researched into the spatial-design plan for housing complex, filtration plant, sewage disposal plant, power plant, general park, crematory. The housing complex in the targeted region could be known to be adequate to be positioned around watercourse and road. It could be known to be adequate for filtration plant, which is the source of drinking water, to be located in the upper-stream region of a river, which is secured good quality of water, and for sewage disposal plant to be located in the lower-stream region available for minimizing occurrence of contamination. It is judged to be required for a proposed site of power plant to be located in the upper-stream region, for the park unit, which is space of the living culture, to be repaired and expanded the existing facilities, and for traffic network to be expanded through predicting demand along with new-town development. It is judged to be probably needed to be reflected even the flexible aspect for changing design through surveying the feasibility and economic efficiency on the future spatial design.

Post-Occupancy Evaluation of Housing Environments of Jangyou New Town in Gimhae (장유신도시 주거환경에 대한 거주 후 평가)

  • The purpose of the study was to perform the post-occupancy evaluation of housing environments of Jangyou New Town in Gimhae. The data for the analysis was collected through questionnaire survey method from August 10 to 27, 2010, and the sample consisted of 524 respondents living in apartment complexes in Jangyou. The features of housing environment were categorized into unit housing, apartment complex, and neighborhood and total 28 specific items were included in the evaluation. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and analysis of variance with Duncan's multiple range tests. The results were as follows: 1) Overall evaluation of housing environment of the residents in Jangyou were relatively high, expecially in floor plan layout of unit housing, self-expression through apartment complex, and natural environment of neighborhood. 2) The demographic and housing variables that had significant influences on the post-occupancy evaluation were age of the respondent, monthly income, apartment size and tenure type of apartment. Respondents who were over sixty years old, with monthly income of less than 2,000,000 won, or living in public rental apartments were more likely to evaluate overall housing environment positively than rest of the respondents.

A Study on the Residents' Recognition of Social-Mix Apartment (사회적 혼합아파트에 대한 거주자 인식 연구)

  • In Korea, apartment complexes are built according to the social strata for which they are intended to house, thus the buildings tend to separate society both physically and even visually. Because of the sense of social exclusion this has caused the government has conceived a plan to develop a "social-mix" apartment complex master plan. Perhaps the foremost example of this type of plan is the Seoul Eunpyeong New Town. This study examines how resident's perception of the social mix plan has evolved, and also attempts to better understand the effectiveness of the government's attempt at social integration. The result shows that the perception of social-mix housing has improved after residents moved into the Eunpyeong New Town and that people responded positively to the concept of actually mixing residents socially. From the result, we can see that the visually unexposed environmental elements of rental housing and socials exclusion which was felt in the past has been reduced to a certain extent. However, residents living in solid-lot apartments have a negative reaction to social mixing especially when they are in the same building. Therefore, to achieve better social integration in a socially-mixed apartment complex, we need now to change the perception toward socially mixed housing among the residents living in solid-lot apartment buildings.

A Basic Study on the Features of Public Open Space Plan in Establishing Residential Complexes -A Case Study of the Public Open Space Plan in Tama New Town, Japan- (주거단지 조성에 있어서의 공공녹지계획의 특징에 관한 기초연구 -일본 타마 뉴타운의 공공녹지체계를 사례로-)

  • In order to address housing issues, alleviate the concentration of urban populations, and resolve other issues regarding residential spaces, large residential complexes have been developed in Korea since the 1970s. The changes to the residential culture due to such development projects propagated rapidly, making the apartment complexes the most representative form of housing in Korea. In developing such large-scale complexes, plans for public open spaces, which play an important role in formulating the quality of residential environment, have been mostly the same, only utilizing the spaces remaining after planning other types of spaces. The current study looks at the case of Tama New Town development project, a Japanese new town development project that has a similar public open space system in large scale residential complex development projects in Korea. In doing so, the current study aims to identify the features of public open space plans. In the conclusion, the study first finds that various public open spaces must be reviewed and introduced in term of predicting social demands. Second, the study suggests the policy-makers should actively introduce pedestrian paths as a public open space. Third, the study deduces the planning implications of applying the principle of original landscape preservation.

Impacts on water-cycle by land use change and effects of infiltration trenches in Asan New town (토지이용 변화가 물순환에 미치는 영향과 침투트렌치 설치 효과 분석 - A 신도시 지구를 중심으로 -)

  • As the water-cycle is transformed by increasing of the impermeable area in process of urbanization, decentralized rainwater management facilities(infiltration, harvesting and retention facilities) as source control are considered to be a method of restoring water-cycle of urban and reducing runoff. SWMM model was used to analyse the change of water-cycle structure before and after development in A new town watershed. Modified SWMM code was developed to apply infiltration facilities. The modified SWMM was used to analyse the change of water-cycle before and after infiltration trench setup in AJ subcatchment. Changes of the impervious area by development and consequent increase in runoff were analyzed. These analyses were performed by a day rainfall during ten years from 1998 to 2007. According to the results, surface runoff increased from 51.85% to 65.25 %, and total infiltration volume decreased from 34.15 % to 21.08 % in A newtown watershed. If more than 80 infiltration trenches are constructed in AJ subcatchment, the low flow and the drought flow increases by around 47%, 44%, separately. The results of this study, infiltration trench is interpreted to be an effective infiltration facility to restore water-cycle in new town.
