소프트웨어 정의 라디오: 실시간 동영상 데이터 송수신기 구현에 대한 접근 (Software-defined Radio (SDR): An Approach to Real-Time Video Data Transceiver Implementation)

  • 본 논문에서는 소프트웨어 정의 라디오 (SDR: Software-defined Radio)를 활용하여 실시간 동영상 송수신기를 구현하기 위한 접근 방법을 제시한다. 이를 통해 최근 주목받고 있는 개방형 무선 접속망(O-RAN: Open Radio Access Network)을 연구하고 이를 SDR 장치와 개방형 소프트웨어를 통해 구현하고자 하는 연구자들의 접근 문턱을 낮추고 새로운 시각과 통찰력을 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

  • In the past, radio astronomers have sought isolation from man-made signals by placing their telescopes in remote locations. These measures may no longer safeguard scientific observations, since NGSO satellite systems, particularly low-Earth orbit (LEO) systems, are usually designed to provide global or wide regional coverage. Further, radio astronomers have historically made their observations in the frequency bands allocated for their use by the member countries of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The science of radio astronomy could be adversely impacted by the deployment of large constellations of new non-geostationary orbiting (NGSO) satellites for telecommunications, navigation and Earth observation, and the proliferation of new, high-power broadcasting and telecommunication satellites in geostationary (GSO) orbits. Radio telescopes are extremely sensitive, and, in certain situations, signals from satellites can overwhelm the signals from astronomical sources. This paper describes the problem in detail and identifies ways to mitigate it without adversely affecting the continued vigorous growth of commercial space-based telecommunications.

  • 본 논문은 Digital satellite radio 방송의 채널 정보 update 방법에 관한 것으로, 예를 들어 Digital satellite radio의 방송 수신 기능이 구비된 Hometheater, MP3 player, 이동 전화기, Car audio 등과 같은 다양한 유형의 Digital 기기에서 새로운 Digital satellite radio(이하 XM으로 표기) 방송 채널 정보를 수신하게 되면, 현재 수신 중인 XM radio 방송 채널과 인접된 N 개의 전/후 방송 채널만을 지그재그(Zigzag) 방식으로 random하게 선별 한 후, 이전의 XM radio방송 채널 정보를 새로 수신된 XM radio 방송 채널 정보로 update 함으로써, 사용자가 거의 선국하지 않는 XM radio 방송 채널을 일괄적으로 모두 update 하게 되는 것을 미연에 예방 할 수 있게 되므로, 실시간으로 자주 변경되는 XM radio 방송 채널 정보를 보다 효율적으로 신속하게 update 시킬 수 있게 되는 매우 유용한 방법을 제시한다.

  • Radio astronomy, on its part, requires 'quiet zones' to be able to receive incoming cosmic signals unaffected by interference to enable astronomers and others learn about universe. The agenda item 1.16 of WRC-2000 contains a number of issues relevant for radio astronomy, but some of them are more important than others. The preparations for WRC-2000 have reached a close-to-final stages, with a number of proposals to this agenda item submitted to the ITU by many countries and groups of countries, like APT, CEPT and CITEL. There is no clear preference to anyone of these proposals since their differences are only minor. However, several points remain to be solved in the APT and CITEL. Fortunately, the preparation went very well, and consensus was reached on allocations above 71 GHz and three resolutions. The radio astronomy has obtained about 100 GHz of new spectrum allocations in bands above 71 GHz. In addition, a new resolution was approved by plenary meeting of WRC-2000. It deals with the consideration by a future WRC of sharing and compatibility issues between passive and active services in adjacent bands particularly with the space services (downlinks) into radio astronomy above 71 GHz. Therefore, in future, there should be a need for studies to be made to determine if and under what conditions sharing is possible, given that modifications were made on the basis of requirements known now and that little was known of requirements and implementation plans for active services in bands above 71 GHz.

  • Recent research work has unearthed that multi-radio multi-channel wireless mesh networks offer considerable capacity gains over single-radio wireless mesh networks. In this paper, we present a new routing metric for multi-radio multi-channel wireless mesh networks. The goal of the metric is to choose multiple link/node disjoint paths between a source and destination node that, when used concomitantly, impart high end-to-end throughput. The proposed metric selects high fidelity paths that will produce elevated throughput with maximum fault tolerance.

  • The Spectrum Usage Fee System which has been introduced and enforced since 1993 has had a great role for effective use of the radio frequency resources and the promotion of radio wave industry. However, the current system has been criticized due to several drawbacks. For example, broadcasting stations and national institutions are exempted whereas the overdue utility rate on some frequency has been imposed. So there has been rising the questions on whether the principles of fair imposition are broken. Another problem regarding the current system is that how to calculate the fee is too much complicated, and it needs to be revised into a simpler and clearer formulation. In this regard, this study intends to propose a new calculation framework for the radio spectrum usage fee and then prove its validity empirically on the basis of real data gathered from MIC and focus group interview.

  • The bit error probability of RS/trellis concatenated coded-modualtion system in the mobile radio channel is analyzed. A new upper bound to the symbol error probability of the inner TCM in the mobile radio channel is obtained by exploiting the unequal symbol error probability of the TCM. This bound is applied to the derivation of the upper bound to the bit error probability of the concatenated coded-modulation system. An efficient way of searching distance spectrum of the TCM in mobile radio channel is devised. Our new bounds are tighter than the earlier studied other bounds.

  • 현재 무선 환경통신에서 점차 고갈되어가는 주파수를 효율적으로 사용하기 위해서 새로운 접근 방법이 개발되었다. Cognitive Radio는 디바이스가 동작하는 환경의 정보에 근거하여 자신의 송수신 방법을 바꿀 수 있는 장비를 말한다. 현재 무선 모바일 디바이스를 대상으로 하는 무선통신표준들은 절전모드에 대해서 다루고 있으며, 대부분 전력절감을 위하여 데이터 송신과 수신에 대한 전원을 차단하는 방법을 이용한다. 하지만 Cognitive Radio 환경에서는 모든 디바이스들이 채널을 검색하기 위해서 Quiet Period를 두고 있으며, 기존의 에너지 절감 방법으로는 Cognitive Radio 환경에 응용하기에는 적합하지 않다. 본 논문에서는 Cognitive Radio 환경에서 무선 모바일 디바이스를 위한 에너지 효율적인 MAC 프로토콜을 제안하고, 시뮬레이션을 통하여 일반적으로 사용되는 에너지관리 방법과 제안한 방법을 비교하여 성능이 향상되었음을 확인한다.

  • train radio system used for shinkansen in japan has been 18 years since it was opened in 1982 and grown old. Analogue train radio is short of the number of lines and can't cope with the needs for the new high speed data transmission by 1,200 bps. The construction to renew the Tohoku - Joethu shinkansen train radio system(shinkansen train radio system) with digital method started from 2000 in JREast Digital method makes it possible to improve the quality of radio transmission, reliability of the network and every device, the speed and capacity of transmission and to be more efficient maintenance by introducing the latest IT technology. This paper will consider synchronization between base station. diversity method. software receiver, mobile high speed digital radio system, high reliability LAN introduced as technologies supporting these.
