Researchers continue to explore possibilities for expanding additive manufacturing (AM) technologies into direct product manufacturing. One limitation is in the materials available for use in AM that can meet the needs of end-use applications. Stereolithography (SL) is an AM technology well known for its precision and high quality surface finish capabilities. SL builds parts by selectively crosslinking or solidifying photo-curable liquid resins, and the resin industry has been continuously developing new resins with improved performance characteristics. This paper introduces a unique SL machine that can fabricate parts out of multiple SL materials. The technology is based on using multiple vats positioned on a rotating vat carousel that contain different photo-curable materials. To change the material during the process, the build platform is raised out of the current vat, a new vat with a different material is rotated under the platform, and the platform is submerged into the new vat so that the new material can be used. This paper introduces a new vat exchange mechanism, cleaning process, recoating process, resin leveling mechanism and process planning technologies for the implementation of multiple material SL. An overview of the system framework is provided and the system integration and control software is described. In addition, several multiple material test parts are designed, fabricated, and described.
Cirsium japonicum var. ussuriense has long been used in herbal medicine for the treatment of arthritis, dyspepsia, and bleeding in Korea. In the present study, we investigated anti-inflammatory effects of C. japonicum var. ussuriense against lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced activation in RAW264.7 cells by the expression of heme oxygenase (HO)-1. The 70% EtOH extract of the aerial parts of C. japonicum var. ussuriense (CJE), showed the potent anti-inflammatory effects on LPS-induced inflammation in RAW264.7 cells. The anti-inflammatory effect of CJE was demonstrated by the suppression of pro-inflammatory mediators, including pro-inflammatory enzymes (inducible nitric oxide synthase and cyclooxygenase-2). Furthermore CJE induced HO-1 expression through nuclear translocation of nuclear factor E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and increased HO activity in RAW264.7 macrophages. The effects of CJE on LPS-induced NO and $PGE_2$ productions were partially reversed by an HO-1 inhibitor, tin protoporphyrin (SnPP). Therefore, it is suggested that CJE-induced HO-1 expression plays a role of the resulting anti-inflammatory effects in macrophages. These results suggest that CJE may be a promising candidate for the treatment of inflammatory diseases.
In this paper, a new hyperbolic shear deformation plate theory based on neutral surface position is developed for the static analysis of functionally graded plates (FGPs). The theory accounts for hyperbolic distribution of the transverse shear strains and satisfies the zero traction boundary conditions on the surfaces of the beam without using shear correction factors. The neutral surface position for a functionally graded plate which its material properties vary in the thickness direction is determined. The mechanical properties of the plate are assumed to vary continuously in the thickness direction by a simple power-law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. Based on the present new hyperbolic shear deformation plate theory and the neutral surface concept, the governing equations of equilibrium are derived from the principle of virtual displacements. Numerical illustrations concern flexural behavior of FG plates with Metal-Ceramic composition. Parametric studies are performed for varying ceramic volume fraction, volume fraction profiles, aspect ratios and length to thickness ratios. The accuracy of the present solutions is verified by comparing the obtained results with the existing solutions.
Viscoelastic (VE) dampers have shown to be capable of providing structures with considerable additional damping to reduce the dynamic response of structures. However, the VE material appears to be sensitive to the variations in ambient temperature and vibration frequency. To minimize these effects, a new VE material has been developed. This new material shows less sensitivity to variations in vibration frequency and temperature. However, it is highly dependent on the shear strain. Experimental studies on the seismic behavior of a 2/5 scale five-story steel frame with these new VE dampers have been carried out. Test results show that the structural response can be effectively reduced due to the added stiffness and damping provided by the new type of VE dampers under both mild and strong earthquake ground motions. In addition, analytical studies have been carried out to describe the strain-dependent behavior of the VE damper. The dynamic properties and hysteresis behavior of the dampers can be simulated by a simple bilinear model based on the equivalent dissipated energy principle proposed in this study.
This study aims to give a new modern light to a paper and search for a possibility of a paper as a new formative material. And then this study wants to suggest the formative effect of the paper operation as one technique which creates the idea of fashion design and to contribute in enlarging the possibility of expression of fashion design. The results of this study are as follow Firstly a paper is found to be expressed in new moulding forms by the various formative experiments because a paper can be easily and variously used as the material of expression. So the moulding images of paper operation are provided for the idea of fashion design and give much influences on the development of fashion design. Seccondly through the new light on a paper as the formative material it is demonstrated that a paper can be used for the development of many forms and the enlargement of the area of expression in the fashion design. Thirdly in the fashion design the formative effect of the paper operation not only give a variety to silhouette but also forms one technique of creation of new materials

We have developed low driving voltage white organic light emitting diode with a new electron transport material, triphenylphosphine oxide ($Ph_{3}PO$). The white light emission was realized with a rubrene yellow dopant and blue-emitting DPVBi layer. The new electron transport layer results in a very high current density at low voltage, resulting in a reduction of driving voltage. The device with a new electron transport layer shows a brightness of $1150\;cd/m^2$ at a low driving voltage of 4.3 V.
During the screening of material which has the antimicrobial activity against aminoglycoside-resistant bacteria, A new material ${\varepsilon}-(L-{\beta}-lysine)$ polypeptide from a culture medium of Streptomyces sp.(DWGS2) was isolated, and the structure and the physicochemical properties of the new material were elucidated. The new material was separated by column chromatography of the culture medium using Dowex $1{\times}2$, Silica gel, and Sephadex LH20 etc. The structure and molecular weight were determined with the data of NMR, MALDI mass, and ESI mass experiments. And the monomer obtained by hydrolysis of the new material with 6N-HCI was identified as a $L-{\beta}-lysine(T_2)$, which is a tail of bleomycin. As tail-region analogy, $T_2({\beta}-lysine$ derivatives from streptomyces) interactions with a self-complementary oligonucleotides, $d(CGCTTCGAAGCG)_2$, was investigated by NMR.

As the industrial development is accelerated, a new machining process and system are keenly required to achieve super precision surface finish. Especially to get ground surface finish fer complicated and narrow inner shape of molds, it is impossible with the existing methods so that a new method is being required to be developed. A new material, called Magic(MAGnetic Intelligent Compounds), is finally made and it is called Magic machining that uses this material. There is a way to make a material as follows, the mixture of magnetic particles, bonding material and particles of abrasive grain should be melt down by proper heat, and then this mixture put in a mold and cool down in magnetic field which has a uniform direction. This new polishing method is spotlighted as an excellent solution to the existing problems. However it hasn't reported any study about the influence of the machining conditions of polishing velocity, amplitude and polishing pressure to the surface roughness yet. This study would examine closely the influence of polishing conditions of the Magic polishing tool to the surface finish to decide the optimum polishing condition and to standardize the Magic polishing work.
Available-to-promise (ATP) exhibiting availability of manufacturing resources can be used to support customer order promising. Recently, one advanced function called Capable-to-promise (CTP) is provided by several modern APS (advanced planning system) that checks available capacity for placing new production orders or increasing already scheduled production orders. At the customer enquiry stage while considering the order delivery date and quantity to quote, both ATP and CTP are allocated to support order promising. In particular, current trends of mass customization and multi-side production chain derive several new constraints that should be considered when ATP/CTP allocation planning for order promising - such as customer's preference plants or material vendors, material compatibility, etc. Moreover, ATP/CTP allocation planning would be executed over a rolling time horizon. To utilize capacity and material manufacturing resource flexibly and fulfill more customer orders, ATP/CTP rolling planning should possess resource reallocation mechanism under the constraints of order quantities and delivery dates for all previous order promising. Therefore, to enhance order promising with reliability and flexibility to reallocate manufacturing resource, the ATP/CTP reallocation planning mechanism is needed in order to reallocate material and capacity resource for fulfilling all previous promised and new customer orders beneficially with considering new derived material and capacity constraints.
In this present paper, a new two dimensional (2D) and quasi three dimensional (quasi-3D) nonlocal shear deformation theories are formulated for free vibration analysis of size-dependent functionally graded (FG) nanoplates. The developed theories is based on new description of displacement field which includes undetermined integral terms, the issues in using this new proposition are to reduce the number of unknowns and governing equations and exploring the effects of both thickness stretching and size-dependency on free vibration analysis of functionally graded (FG) nanoplates. The nonlocal elasticity theory of Eringen is adopted to study the size effects of FG nanoplates. Governing equations are derived from Hamilton's principle. By using Navier's method, analytical solutions for free vibration analysis are obtained through the results of eigenvalue problem. Several numerical examples are presented and compared with those predicted by other theories, to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of developed theories and to investigate the size effects on predicting fundamental frequencies of size-dependent functionally graded (FG) nanoplates.
