  • It is generally referred that life cycle of concrete construction is depend on whether durability of concrete is obtained or not. Nevertheless, it has not been yet applied that new material and technology to improve durability of concrete such as seaside concrete construction. In this study, chemical agent which is capable of improving durability added to 2 types seaside concrete mixs and evaluated engineering properties such as slump, air content, setting time and compressive strength. Besides shrinkage crack with an restraint condition and chloride ion penetration tests were executed to measure resistance of concrete added chemical agent and then compared non-added. It was appeared that engineering properties and resistant for chlorides was possible to improved. But resistant for shrinkage crack was not noticeable improvement than non-added. Therefore it is necessary that more consideration and following study to improve durability aspect to shrinkage crack and chlorides resistant.

신축 아파트의 실내 마감재 변경 및 시공단계별 휘발성유기화합물 발생 특성 (Characteristics of VOCs Emission According Interior Finish Materials and Working Phases of New Apartments)

  • In this research, IAQ is measured to evaluate the emission performance of VOCs in three new apartment houses finished by totally EFMs (Environmental Friendly Material), partially installed EFMs and general materials. Among various VOCs, Target pollutants for the IAQ measurement are benzene, ethylbenzene, toluene, xylene, 1,4-Dichlorobenzene and formaldehyde. The measurement is conducted one day after each interior finishing material is worked over by construction schedule. The result of this research concluded that (1) Except toluene, the concentration levels of each pollutant did not exceed the national IAQ standards in all test residences, (2) As the interior finishing work schedule, A toluene level peaked when the furniture installing was ended. (3) The toluene concentration level of the house installed general interior materials as the non-EFMs furniture was one and half higher than other houses. Consequently, installing. the furniture made by EFMs is one of effective methods to improve the IAQ for new apartment houses.

연약지반 개량을 위한 수평배수층 재료로 순환골재의 적용 방안에 대한 연구 (A Study on Utilization of Recycled Aggregates as Lateral Drain for Soft Ground Improvemnet)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 연약지반개량을 위한 수평배수층 재료로 순환골재의 적용가능성을 검증함에 있다. 최근 모래의 수급불균형이 초래되고 있으며, 이는 단순히 가격 상승의 문제에서 그치는 것이 아닌 전체 공정의 지연을 초래하게되어 문제의 심각성이 크다. 이러한 상황에서 순환골재는 그 수요를 충족시킬 수 있는 적절한 대체재료로 인식되고 있으며, 이를 검증하기 위해 우선 이미 제정된 각종기준과 규정을 찾아 비교 정리하였고, 다음으로 기존의 수평배수층 재료인 모래와의 공학적 특성에 대한 비교 및 검토를 시행하였다. 결과로써 순환골재는 모래에 비해 큰 투수계수 및 단위중량으로 인해 수평배수층으로써의 대부분 기준을 만족하였으며, 클로깅에 대한 문제는 수평배수층 상부에 필터층을 추가 설치하는 방안으로 해결할 수 있어, 현장적용이 가능한 것으로 판단되었다. 또한 모래에 비해 순환골재의 구입단가가 상대적으로 낮아 공사비 절감이 가능하여, 수평배수층 재료로 순환골재는 매우 경쟁력있는 대체재료라 할 수 있다.

신한옥 주거 만족도 실태조사 연구 - 전라남도를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Actual Conditions and Responses of New Han-ok Inhabitants through Questionnaire - Focused in Jeonnam Province -)

  • Recently, New Han-ok is in prevail because it has many good qualities as a dwelling. But the New Han-ok dwellers' needs and satisfaction ratio on their houses are not investigated yet. So, surveys on satisfaction ratio for New Han-ok were carried out to know New Han-ok's existing conditions and inhabitant's responses on New Han-ok dwellings. Followings are results. 1) Dwellers response that it is cool in summer and it is cold in winter. So, design and construction method against cold is needed for New Han-ok. 2) Window is the most picking element of New Han-ok for house improvement. 3) Window opening is main control method for cooling in summer. Warming sources in winter are various such as electricity, gas, oil, wood, etc. 4) PVC window structure and glasses were used for New Han-ok's window system as well as wooden window structure and Han-gi. 5) Interviewees are generally satisfied with New Han-ok's exterior view and inner spaces. Almost no humidifier is used. These results could be used for improvement of Han-ok and basic material for New Han-ok design.

  • 건설프로젝트가 점차 대형화, 고층화 되어감에 따라 프로젝트의 관리방식에 많은 변화가 요구되고 있다. 특히, RFID/USN과 같은 유비쿼터스 기술적용이 활발히 진행되고 있는 건설물류관리 분야를 중심으로 이를 효율화하기 위한 다양한 관점의 방안이 제시되고 있다. 이에 최근 건설현장을 지능화하기 위한 목적으로 개발되고 있는 지능형 장비의 도입은 건설현장에서의 건설물류관리에 새로운 프로세스 모델개발이 요구되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 바코드 및 RFID/USN 기반의 개별 자재 형태로 제안되고 있는 기존 건설물류프로세스의 한계를 극복하고, 지능형 장비와 같은 건설물류관리의 변화요인들을 반영하여 건설공사에 사용되는 수많은 자재들이 이러한 변화된 프로세스에 쉽게 적용될 수 있는 가이드를 제공하기 위하여 지능형 건설물류관리 프로세스 레퍼런스 모델을 개발하였다.

An Assessment of the Impact of Construction Activities on the Environment in Uganda: A Case Study of Iganga Municipality

  • Construction while being an economic activity that provides facilities and infrastructure, it is beneficial to man in some aspects and detrimental in others. There have been environmental concerns related to construction activities globally which mainly focus on atmospheric emissions, depletion of natural resources and energy issues. This study was carried out to assess the impacts of construction activities on the environment in Iganga Municipality and to propose measures for their mitigation. The methodology included: review of relevant literature, observations of the general environmental effects of construction activities, focus groups and a survey conducted among construction industry role players to determine their perceptions and opinions regarding environmental impact of construction activities. The collected data was presented in tabular form and analysed by description of responses to questions. The study revealed that forests were the most greatly degraded due to high demand of timber for construction followed by wetlands degradation. The findings of this study will be useful to architects, designers and builders in order to carefully design buildings and other infrastructure that are environmentally friendly and sustainable. Construction materials and their mode of acquisition are harmful threats to the environment. There is need to reduce the consumption of these materials through recycling and reusing wastes to reduce on waste generation, use of virgin materials and the subsequent waste of energy used in new material production.

강-PC 복합모듈러 골조의 합성보에 대한 구조성능 평가 (Structural Performance Evaluation for Composite Beam Member of Hybrid Modules Frame with Steel-Precast Concrete)

  • 본 연구는 새로운 모듈러 시스템을 개발하기 위한 목적으로 수행하였다. 현재 국내에서 적용되고 있는 모듈러 시스템은 C형 강재보만을 사용하기 때문에 재료비와 내화 측면에서 매우 고가이다. 이를 극복하기 위하여 새로운 강-PC형의 복합모듈러 시스템을 개발하고자 하였다. 우선, 보 단면 형상을 개선하여 개발하기 위한 연구를 진행하였다. 3개의 실험체를 제작하여 휨성능 평가를 위한 실험을 수행하였다. 실험결과, 합성보는 수평전단 파괴에 의해 지배되는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 비선형 유한요소해석을 수행하여 실험과 이론식과 비교를 통해 구조적 성능을 평가하였다.

한국(韓國) 연근해어선(沿近海漁船)에 대(對)한 전개가능곡면(展開可能曲面) 선형(船型)의 응용(應用) (An Application of the Developable Hull Surface to Korean Inshore Fishing Boats)

  • The Korea inshore fishing boats are the size up to 30G.T., and their construction commonly employs the traditional wide wooden planking. Nevertheless, the hull forms have been developed with chine-type straight-framed sections which give developable surface party, but not on the whole: especially not on the whole portion of the hull are preferable for them. Considering many merits in the boat construction, the author, excluding cases of the FRP construction by hand lay-up or spray-up method and of the ferro-cement construction, finds out no reasons to depart from the chine-type hull forms of a developable surface in future development of their hull forms, too. In this report, the author proposed new designs of the developable hull surface for four typical boats forming the main structure of Korean inshore fishing fleets; 5G.T.-class multi-purpose boat, 10G.T.-class angling and longlining boat, 20G.T.-class drift and gill netters, and 27G.T.-class stow netters, and presented the tank test results on their propulsion resistance. The tank test had two purposes; one is to present the powering schedule of the new designs and the other to investigate the resistance characteristics of this kinds of boat in comparision with those of equivalent round-type boats at operational speed ranges. Between the both types of the boat no material differences in powering are expected. Hence, the author is confident of that saving in the construction cost of the developable hull over that of the round-type boat may result in considerable contribution to the over-all boat economy.

Use of Recycled Brick Masonry Aggregate (RBMA) and Recycled Brick Masonry Aggregate Concrete (RBMAC) in Sustainable Construction

  • Use of recycled aggregates in portland cement concrete construction can offer benefits associated with both economy and sustainability. Testing performed to date indicates that RBMA can be used as a 100% replacement for conventional coarse aggregate in concrete that exhibits acceptable mechanical properties for use in structural and pavement elements, including satisfactory performance in some durability tests. RBMAC is currently not used in any type of construction in the United States. However, use of RBMAC could become a viable construction strategy as sustainable building practices become the norm. Rating systems such as LEED offer points for reuse of building materials (particularly on-site) and use of recycled materials. If renovations at an existing facility call for the demolition of existing brick masonry constructions, the rubble could be included as RBMA in new concrete pavement, sidewalks, or curb and gutter. Other potential uses for RBMAC could include those in the precast concrete industry, particularly in architectural precast concrete applications. In addition to providing acceptable strength and economy, the color of RBMA could be an attractive component of architectural precast concrete panels or other façade components. This paper explores the feasibility of use of RBMAC in several types of sustainable construction initiatives, based upon the findings of previous work with RBMAC produced from construction and demolition waste from a case study site. Guidance for obtaining and using RBMA is presented, along with a summary of material properties of RBMAC that will be useful to construction professionals.

탄소섬유를 포함한 시멘트 그라우트의 압축파 및 전단파 특성 (Compressional and Shear Wave Properties of Cement Grout Including Carbon Fiber)

  • 대부분이 산악지역인 국내에서는 터널 및 지하공간개발의 비중이 점점 높아지고 있다. 지하공간개발 시 지반 개량공법을 적용하여 지반을 보강하지만 국내에서는 여전히 사건 사고가 빈번하게 발생하고 있다. 대표적인 지반 보강공법인 그라우팅 공법은 주입재의 총량과 실제 그라우팅 시공 시 사용한 주입재의 양을 비교하여 효과를 판정하였으며, 혹은 그라우팅 공법을 적용한 지반에 보링 후 시료의 일축압축강도 평가 혹은 현장 투수시험을 통하여 지반 보강여부를 판단하였다. 하지만, 시공 중 혹은 대상 지반 내에 지반 보강이 제대로 이루어졌는지는 판단하기는 어렵다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 전도성 재료인 탄소섬유와 그라우트 재료인 마이크로시멘트를 혼합하여 그라우팅을 수행한 후 전기비저항 측정을 통해 시공 중이나 시공 후에 품질관리가 가능한 새로운 방법에 대해 연구가 필요한 실정이다. 본 연구는 이에 대한 기초연구로 전도성 재료인 탄소섬유가 혼합된 그라우트 재의 성능을 평가하기 위해 탄소섬유 0%, 3%, 5%, 7%로 혼합된 시멘트 공시체를 제작하였으며, 제작한 공시체에 대하여 3일, 7일, 28일 습도 99%의 조건으로 습윤양생 시킨 후 압축파 속도 및 전단파 속도 측정을 수행하였다. 압축파 속도 및 전단파 속도 측정 결과 탄소섬유의 배합비 및 재령일수 증가에 따라 증가하는 경향을 보였으며, 재료의 강성인 탄성계수 및 전단탄성계수도 증가하는 것을 확인하였다.
