  • In this study, thick 24mm glulams were composed of thick. 3, 4, 6, 8mm Larch laminas to study that the theoretical analysis and the experimental analysis regarding the location of neutral axis of the glulams were compared, and to study on the effect of location of neutral axis on mechanical properties of glulam. The variation of location of neutral axis after proportional limit(or elastical limit) was studied to offer basic data to make the better composition method of glulam. The result obtained can be summarized as follows: 1. The theoretical neutral axis was 0.547 in solid wood, and also 0.547 in glulams because glulams were composed of only Larch laminas. 2. In solid wood, the deviation of the theoretical and the experimental neutral axis location was 0.1%, But in glulams, the deviation from-12.2% to + 7.8% showed nonuniform pattern but no large deviation. Because laminas was only of Larch and so the mechanical properties of laminas were monotonous. 3. The neutral axis exerted no influance on the elasticity of glulam, which meaned that the maximum shear strength in the neutral axis showed no influance on elasticity limit. 4. The only minutely lower elasticities of glulam than that of solid wood were shown. This was because of influance of glue lines of glulam on the elasticlties. 5. The failure type of glulam was wholly simple tension failure and the horizontal shear failure near neutral axis was not taken place, which was that glue line was complete in bonding and the strength of the lamina was not various but uniform. 6. The ratio of tension strain($^{\varepsilon}t$) I compression strain($^{\varepsilon}c$) initially showed uniform level After the elasticity limit. the ratio was increased with the flow of time and so the tension strain was more increased than compression strain. So this proved tension lamination technique, which is that the mechanical properties of glulam could be improved, if the lamina of more superior strength would he added on the bottom side of the glulam.

  • Seasonal variation of uraenesox cinereus) muscle was investigated. Crude lipid content varied from 3.85 to 12.59 g/100g, comprising the highest content in November. The major fatty acids of total lipid, neutral lipid, and phospholipid were C16:0, C23:0, C16:1, C18:1, C20:5, and C22:6, but in phospholipid, Cl8:3n-6 was also the major fatty acid. The C22:6 content of the neutral lipid was much lower compared to that of the total lipid and phospholipid. The content of polyunsaturated fatty acids (ranged from 73.93 to 66.23%) in phospholipid was higher than that of any other lipid fraction. In glycolipid, C20:1 and C14:1 were higher compared to those of any other lipid fraction, but C20:5 and C22:6 were lower. The annual average ratio of n-3 to n-6 of total lipid, neutral lipid, phospholipid, and glycolipid was 10.82, 12.27, 6.63, and 6.50, respectively. The particular trend of seasonal variation of fatty acid composition was not showed in total and neutral lipid. However, the samples caught in September and November had a high crude lipid content with a significantly lower content of polyunsaturated fatty acids in phospholipid. Also, the content of monounsaturated fatty acids in glycolipid was lower in samples of September, November, and January.

  • This paper discusses the effects of CD type superconducting cable operation in 22.9kV multi neutral grounded distribution system during L-G fault and counterplans to power system protection. In case of using the 3-phase CD-type superconducting cable, the inductance of superconducting cable system would be decreased due to the current of shield part of superconducting cable, which is opposite direction and nearly equal value with respect to main superconductor. However, when the shield circuit system is operated in shorted state, shield current decreases faulted ground current and give effects to power system protection scheme. This study examines the phenomena of single line to ground fault case in above mentioned system using the EMTDC program and discusses the right operation method of superconducting shield.

  • We use Krasnoselskii's fixed point theorem to show that the nonlinear neutral difference equation with delay x(t + 1) = a(t)x(t) + c(t)${\Delta}$x(t - g(t)) + q(t, x(t), x(t - g(t)) has a periodic solution. To apply Krasnoselskii's fixed point theorem, one would need to construct two mappings; one is contraction and the other is compact. Also, by making use of the variation of parameters techniques we are able, using the contraction mapping principle, to show that the periodic solution is unique.

  • Hydrodynamic stability equations are formulated for natural convection flows adjacent to a heated or cooled, inclined, isothermal surface in pure water at $4^{\circ}C$, where the density variation with temperature becomes nonlinear. The resulting stability equations, when reduced to ordinary differential equations by a similarity transformation, constitute a two-point boundary-value problem, which was solved numerically. It is found from the obtained stability results that the neutral stability curves are systematically shifted to have lower critical Grashof numbers, as the inclination angle of upward-facing plate increases. Also, the nose of the neutral stability curve becomes blunter as the angle increases. It implies that the greater the inclination of the upward-facing plate, the more susceptible of the flow to instability for the wide range of disturbance wave number and frequency.

  • In this paper, a hyperbolic shear deformation theory is presented for bending analysis of functionally graded beams. This theory used in displacement field in terms of thickness co-ordinate to represent the shear deformation effects and does not require shear correction factor, and gives rise to transverse shear stress variation such that the transverse shear stresses vary parabolically across the thickness satisfying shear stress free surface conditions. The governing equations are derived by employing the virtual work principle and the physical neutral surface concept. A simply supported functionally graded beam subjected to uniformly distributed loads and sinusoidal loads are consider for detail numerical study. The accuracy of the present solutions is verified by comparing the obtained results with available published ones.

  • In this paper, a simple n-order refined theory based on neutral surface position is developed for bending and frees vibration analyses of functionally graded beams. The present theory is variationally consistent, uses the n-order polynomial term to represent the displacement field, does not require shear correction factor, and gives rise to transverse shear stress variation such that the transverse shear stresses vary parabolically across the thickness satisfying shear stress free surface conditions. The governing equations are derived by employing the Hamilton's principle and the physical neutral surface concept. The accuracy of the present solutions is verified by comparing the obtained results with available published ones.

  • The non-periodic angular accelerations of engine are the major cause of gear rattle. This gear rattle is based on the existence of a backlash between the drive gear of input shaft and the free gear of output shaft in the gearbox. Especially, the neutral gear rattle have a very bad effect on the ride quality. Test-rig was constructed in order to evaluate the parameter influence upon the neutral gear rattle. Also, each different 4 type torsional characteristic of clutch was manufactured. Experimental conditions are the use of each different 4 type torsional characteristic of clutch and oil temperature variation in gearbox. In case of the same stiffiness of pre-damper type clutch at idling, the clutch of large hysteresis showed dam- ping effects at the 2nd input gear and the 2nd output gear. Also, the main-damper type clutch was shown to large resonance phenomenon at the 2nd input gear. Accordingly, main-damper type clutch was unapp- roriate at idling.

  • A polyelectrolyte chain confined in a slit nanochannel exhibits a structural transition from the one in free space. In this paper, the effect of the long-range electrostatic interactions between the xanthan polyelectrolyte and the slit wall on the confined xanthan conformation is investigated via the Brownian dynamics simulation. A neutral and two negatively charged surfaces of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and glass are combined to make four kinds of slit channels with different charge characteristics: i) neutral-neutral, ii) glass-glass, iii) neutral-PDMS and iv) neutral-glass walls. Their walls are characterized by uniform surface charge densities determined from experimental data of zeta potential. Both the nonmonotonic chain size variation and the loss of long-range bond vector correlation, previously observed under confinement in the PDMS-PDMS slit, are also found in the neutral slit, demonstrating the nonelectrostatic origin of such crossover behaviors. As expected, the effect of wall charges is negligible at sufficiently high medium ionic strength of 100mM but it becomes significant in the opposite limit of 0.01mM. In the latter case, the high charge density of glass walls strengthens the effective confinement of a negatively charged polyelectrolyte and produces a xanthan structure comparable to that confined in a much narrower neutral slit. The obtained structural data suggest the possibility of controlling the structure of confined polyelectrolytes by the modification of surface charge characteristics of micro/nanofluidic devices in combination with the adjustment of the medium ionic strength.
