  • Through the NFV (Network Function Virtualization), companies such as network service providers and carriers have sought to dramatically reduce CAPEX / OPEX by improving the speed of new service provisioning and flexibility of network construction through the S/W-based devices provided by NFV. One of the most important considerations for establishing an NFV network to provide dynamic services is to determine how to dynamically allocate resources (VNFs), the basic building blocks of network services, in the right place. In this paper, we analyzed the latest research trends on VNF node, link allocation, and scheduling in nodes that are required to provide arbitrary NS in NFV framework. In this paper, we also propose VNF scheduling problems that should be studied further in RA (Resource Allocation).

  • NFV is a technology that allows network services to be controlled and managed in software by separating various net work functions (NFs) from hardware devices in dedicated network equipment and implementing them in a high-performance general-purpose server. Therefore, standardized virtualization of network functions is one of the most important factors. However, until the introduction of NFV to provide commercial services, there are many technical issues to be solved such as guaranteeing performance, stability, support for multi-vendor environment, ensuring perfect interoperability, and linking existing virtual and non-virtual resources. In this paper, we propose a method to provide an end-to-end network virtualization service based on OSM R2 in KREONET.

  • Network Function Virtualization (NFV) is a key technology of 5G networks that has the advantage of enabling building and operating networks flexibly. However, NFV can complicate network management because it creates numerous virtual resources that should be managed. In NFV environments, service function chaining (SFC) composed of virtual network functions (VNFs) is widely used to apply a series of network functions to traffic. Therefore, it is required to dynamically allocate the right amount of computing resources or instances to SFC for meeting service requirements. In this paper, we propose Deep Q-Networks (DQN)-based auto-scaling to operate the appropriate number of VNF instances in SFC. The proposed approach not only resizes the number of VNF instances in SFC composed of multi-tier architecture but also selects a tier to be scaled in response to dynamic traffic forwarding through SFC.

  • The network function virtualization (NFV) uses virtualization technology to separate software from hardware. One of the most important challenges of NFV is the resource management of virtual network functions (VNFs). According to the dynamic nature of NFV, the resource allocation of VNFs must be changed to adapt to the variations of incoming network traffic. However, the significant delay may be happened because of the reallocation of resources. In order to balance the performance between delay and quality of service, this paper firstly made a compromise between VNF migration and energy consumption. Then, the long short-term memory (LSTM) was utilized to forecast network traffic. Also, the asymmetric loss function for LSTM (LO-LSTM) was proposed to increase the predicted value to a certain extent. Finally, an experiment was conducted to evaluate the performance of LO-LSTM. The results demonstrated that the proposed LO-LSTM can not only reduce migration times, but also make the energy consumption increment within an acceptable range.

  • Software Defined Networking (SDN) is a novel approach that have accelerated the development of numerous technologies such as policy-based access control, network virtualization, and others. It allows to boost network architectural flexibility and expedite the return on investment. However, this increases the system's complexity, necessitating the expenditure of dollars to assure the system's security. Network Function Virtualization (NFV) opens up new possibilities for network engineers, but it also raises security concerns. A number of Internet service providers and network equipment manufacturers are grappling with the difficulty of developing and characterizing NFVs and related technologies. Through Moodle's efforts to maintain security, this paper presents a detailed review of security-related challenges in software-defined networks and network virtualization services.

  • The design, management, and operation of network infrastructure have evolved during the last few years, leveraging on innovative technologies and architectures. With such a huge trend, due to the flexibility and significant economic potential of these technologies, software defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV) are emerging as the most critical key enablers. SDN/NFV enhancing the infrastructure agility, thus network operators and service providers are able to program their own network functions (e.g., gateways, routers, load balancers) on vendor independent hardware substrate. They facilitating the design, delivery and operation of network services in a dynamic and scalable manner. In NFV, the management and orchestration (MANO) orchestrates other specific managers such as the virtual infrastructure manager (VIM) and the VNF Manager (VNFM). In this paper, we examine the contents of these NFV MANO systematically and proposes a security system in a virtualized environment.

  • The number and size of resource constituting the web page has been increasing steadily, and this circumstance leads to rapidly falling quality of web service in mobile network that offer relatively higher delay. Moreover, Improving the quality of a web services protocol is difficult to provide network function because the current network architecture has closed structure. In this paper, we suggest schemes to enhance web performance in mobile network, which are Check Coded DOM scheme and Functional JavaScript Transmission scheme, and then try to seek idea which can be provided suggested schemes as a network function using NFV(Network Function Virtualization). For the performance evaluation and analysis about the suggested schemes, we perform network simulation using SMPL library. We confirm that suggested schemes offer better performance in term of page loading time, the number of message and the amount of traffic in the network than HTTP Protocol.

  • Network Function Virtualization (NFV) environment can deal with dynamic changes in traffic status with appropriate deployment and scaling of Virtualized Network Function (VNF). However, determining and applying the optimal VNF deployment is a complicated and difficult task. In particular, it is necessary to predict the situation at a future point because it takes for the process to be applied and the deployment decision to the actual NFV environment. In this paper, we randomly generate service requests in Multiaccess Edge Computing (MEC) topology, then obtain training data for machine learning model from an Integer Linear Programming (ILP) solution. We use the simulation data to train the machine learning model which predicts the optimal VNF deployment in a predefined future point. The prediction model shows the accuracy over 90% compared to the ILP solution in a 5-minute future time point.
