  • Open innovation concept is advocating the importance of the customer roles in firm's innovation. As a result, crowdsourcing community is drawing attention as a strategic asset for open innovation across diverse industries. Considering that the goal of crowdsourcing community is harnessing innovative ideas, understanding the characteristics of user-favorable and organization-adoptable ideas can enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of idea crowdsourcing. In our approach, we extracted idea content-based characteristics such as subjectivity, negativity, prosocialness, and depth of idea to examine what are the factors that affect user preference and organizational adoption. An analysis of 71,134 ideas from MyStarbucksIdea.com shows that there are significant differences between user-favorable and organization-adoptable ideas in terms of idea characteristics. Lastly, both theoretical and managerial implications are discussed.

  • Independent component analysis (ICA) is a statistical method for linearly transforming observed high-dimensional multivariate data into several statistically independent components. ICA has gained wide-spread attention in a variety of fields including spectrum application. We focus on the application of ICA for separating independent sources from a set of mixtures and estimating their fractions in a mixture. The proposed method of estimating fractions is based on the regression model subject to the non-negativity constraint on coefficients. Simulation experiments are performed to demonstrate the performance of the proposed approach.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine early emotionality and mothering and fathering antecedents of inhibition of children at age 3 years in a sample of 100 children(51 boys; 49 girls). In order to assess child's behavioral inhibition and mothering, the behaviors of each child-mother dyad was videotaped in a structured lab situation. Data on Fathering behavior were gathered through questionnaires. 2X2ANOVA, Hierachical Regression Analyses and Fisher's Z test were conducted for the statistical analyses. The main results were as follows; 1) Only small portion of the variance in subsequent inhibition could be explained by early emotionality(i.e.negative, positive, and the interaction of both emotionality). 2) High negativity coupled with low positivity in infancy predicted high inhibition especially for girls. 3) In general, sensitive mothering and appropriateness of mothers' response were related to child's low inhibition, while parental intrusiveness and negative affect increased child's inhibition. 4) Mothering appeared more influential in the case of children who showed low positivity during infancy. The importance of distinguishing positive and negative emotionality in infancy and studying parental behavior to predict child's inhibition were discussed.

  • To reduce effectively cadmium (Cd) phytoavailability by phosphate in mine tailing affected soil, fused and super phosphate (FSP), a main phosphate fertilizer in South Korea, was selected as phosphate source and then applied at the rates of 0, 78, 390, and 780 $P_2O_5kg\;ha^{-1}$. FSP did not decrease Cd extractability and radish Cd uptake, but increased significantly. The effect of Cd supplement and soil negativity increase through FSP application was not significant. Soil pH decreased markedly with increasing FSP application, which increased significantly soil Cd extractability and radish Cd uptake. As a result, phosphate fertilizer for reducing Cd phtyoavailability in heavy metals contaminated soil should be carefully selected as alkaline type.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate personality adaptation factors related to life satisfaction of the aged. Personality adaptation factors were classified into four factors(The active-intergration, The dependent-passivity, The failing-overaboundance, The self-negativity). The hypothesises of this study are as follow : (1) Personality adaptation factors can be predited by demographic variables and family environmental variables. (2) Life Satisfaction can be predited by demogaphic variables and family environmental variables. (3) Each personality adaptation factors will be correlated with life satisfaction. For the test of hypothesises, Questionnaries were given to the randomly selected 332 persons over age 60 in Pusan. Questionnaries consist of 4 parts. These are demographic part, family environment part, personality adaptation factor part, and life satisfaction part. The data collected were analyzed by satistical methods such as Case, Percentage Factor Analysis, Multiple Regression Analysis, and Pearson's Correlation. According to the results of the analysis of this study, primary, personality adaptation factor is decided by personal problem. But, this personality adaptation factor of the aged is affected by family environment. Particulary, in the results of the study, frequent communication with their family is more important than physical solidary.

  • Dependences of total photoyields on incident photon energies were measured using synchrotron radiation light for different chemical-vapor-deposited diamond with differently treated surface. Results show that a considerable amount of gap states are presented for as-grown specimens with H-terminated, that negative electron affinity (NEA) is realized for H-plasma-treated specimens, and that sufficient O-treatment to NEA specimens results in positive electron affinity. The observed electron affinity can be explained in terms of differences in strength of the surface dipole layer formed by difference in the electron negativity among C, H and O atoms.

  • The purpose of this study were to examine how people categorize obese individuals and if they have stereotyping about obese individuals. Twenty-five female volunteer subjects participated in this study. Subjects were undergraduate students in Textiles and Clothing courses at a midwestern university, US. Subjects were asked to give their one-word responses to four statements or questions regarding their impressions of six stimuli. The six stimuli consisted of magazine photographs of women; the magazines were general interest and fashion publications. Subjects then recorded their answers in the boxes for each of the six pictures. As the results, the relevant question as to whether or not more negative attributes would be assigned to the obese model's photographs was confirmed for the Description of Model variable, but not for the Personality of Model or for the Liking the Model variables. There was significant difference in means between the positive and negative descriptions of the Description of Model variable in the direction of negativity toward the obese group seems to confirm that, not only do people categorize others based on appearance, but there was a tendency to favor the average-size group and to view as negative the obese group.

  • The importance of online reviews is prevalent as more people access goods or places online and make decisions to visit or purchase. However, such reviews are generally provided by short sentences or mere star ratings; failing to provide a general overview of customer preferences and decision factors. This study explored and broke down restaurant reviews found on Google Maps. After collecting and analyzing 5,427 reviews, we vectorized the importance of words using the TF-IDF. We used a random forest machine learning algorithm to calculate the coefficient of positivity and negativity of words used in reviews. As the result, we were able to build a dictionary of words for positive and negative sentiment using each word's coefficient. We classified words into four major evaluation categories and derived insights into sentiment in each criterion. We believe the dictionary of review words and analyzing the major evaluation categories can help prospective restaurant visitors to read between the lines on restaurant reviews found on the Web.
