The purpose of this study is to determine how the culture of modern mass consumption is understood in determining a decent lifestyle. This study examined a variety of literature on this problem. The important results are as follows. The culture of consumption has evolved through the increase of productivity in modern industry. People's desires have instigated a developing consumption culture: the concepts of advertising, fashion, over-consumption, and conspicuous consumption. The dissemination of this new consumption culture in an information-rich society, facilitated by the popularization of the Internet, has started to influence every nook and comer of our lives. This change of lifestyle has resulted not only in positive effects, but also in negative ones, such as distortion of information, and inequality. Thus the culture of modern mass consumption has created a new concept of class order and has reinforced the unbalance between opinion-leaders and opinion-followers. It has also increased the ratio of needs to wants. Consumption makes escape and sensual pleasure possible. The conclusion of this study is that the culture of modern mass consumption has not upheld its original purpose, that is, the qualitative enrichment of life through consumption. It has only caused the disintegration of individuality.
Public acceptance is a major issue that will determine the future of nuclear energy. In this article, we review relevant studies and identify several common patterns of nuclear public acceptance. Based on these patterns and four categories of factors, we propose hypotheses on the impact of different socioeconomic factors on the public opinion of nuclear energy. These factors were demographic and social influences, politico-economic, energy conditions, and nuclear accidents and natural risks. We tested these hypotheses using a data set including survey results on public opinion of nuclear energy in 59 countries from 1987 to 2014. Results of the regression analysis generally verified the proposed hypotheses, especially regarding the positive impact of education or geological suitability and the negative effect of improved living standards and democracy on nuclear acceptance. We propose policy recommendations, including a better focus on education and communication and a thorough consideration of the social and geological conditions a country needs to make before deciding to go nuclear. Potential weaknesses of this study are also discussed, including the possible causal relation between independent variables and the binary nature of the dependent variable.
This study understands the actual conditions and problems for making traditional Korean food into the fast food. 1. Convenience to eat and nice atmosphere with friends (25%) are the best motive of visiting fast food restaurant. 2. The frequency of eating fast food is one to three times a month and the result of analysis on interrelation of human being in social anthropology represents that the fast food represents negative (-) interrelation by increasing of the age. The opinion about the fast food's nutrition is that the fast food lacks the nutrition (23.3%) and has excessive fat (40%). 3. The consumers were satisfied with the atmosphere of the fast food restaurant and unsatisfied with it's high prices. 4. The consumers' opinion on making the traditional food into a fast food was 66.4%. The consumers' opinions on traditional food to be improved are the sanitation (37.9%), the cookery (25%), the taste (11.7%), the nutrition (10.7%) and the opinions about inheritance of the traditional food is that 87.5% of people gave positive responses.
This study investigated 3.50 million Facebook reactions collected from 9,429 Bangladeshi news items about rape shared on social media from 2016 to 2021. The primary aim of this study was to understand users' different reaction patterns based on the five major Facebook reactions (i.e., love, haha, wow, sad, and angry). Based on the theories of emotion, we quantitatively answer one research question: How do social media users react to rape with the five major Facebook reactions? The results suggest that users are more likely to express disdain toward rape and sympathy toward the victims using Facebook reactions by using the angry button, along with the sad button. In rape news, both reactions are consistent and maintain a strong positive correlation, meaning they increase and decrease together. Although many users tend to mock and laugh at rape incidents and the victims, trend lines suggest that such expressions may not be consistent with time. Despite contextual relevance, we presume that in socially and morally unacceptable events like rape and war, the valences of reactions alter to some extent: angry and sad usually become positive, while love, wow, and haha become negative. Some strengths and limitations of the study are discussed as well.

Adopting the Tools of Liberalism and Clash of Civilizations theories of international relations, this study examines the perceptions of 25,406 Arabs in 11 Arab countries as expressed in an Arab Barometer survey exploring their perceptions of violence against the United States (US), American citizens as "good," President Donald Trump's foreign policy in the Middle East, increasing economic relations with the US, and welcoming American foreign aid. As aspects of the Clash of Civilizations theory, this study examines religiosity, religious ritual practices, and political Islam and, as aspects of liberalism, this study explores the roles of online media as well as perceptions about US foreign aid in the prediction of the criterion variables. The findings suggest that religious indicators, and aspects of the Clash of Civilizations generally, were negative predictors of the perceptions, while social media and motivations for US foreign aid as aspects of liberalism, positively predicted the perceptions. The study discusses the results in relation to implications for policy makers.
Objectives: This study investigated beliefs of Koreans on the usefulness of various resources they use to alleviate depressive symptoms and to identify factors affecting the beliefs on different approaches to depressive symptoms. Methods: A household survey was conducted on a stratified sample of adults of age 18~74 (N=1,607) in 2009. The participants were asked to read a case vignette of depression and to provide their opinion about usefulness of 39 types of resources as ways of addressing the symptoms. Factors affecting opinions on usefulness of various resources were examined with logistic regression. Results: The three approaches identified via factor analysis were believed to be useful in the order of 'psychological/relational/activity-oriented', 'lifestyle/cultural', and 'physical/medical' approaches. The logistic regression analyses revealed that correct recognition of symptoms increased the likelihood of positive opinion about psychological and physical approaches, and so did having current symptoms about physical and popular approaches. Past help-seeking experience increased the likelihood of negative opinion about physical approach, however. Conclusions: Strategies to adopt various types of resources need to be developed, including rigorous use of psychosocial methods, mechanisms to control service quality, and the integration of diverse resources into the current community mental health services.

The aim of this study is to apply latent semantic indexing(LSI) techniques for efficient automatic classification of opinionated documents. For the experiments, we collected 1,000 opinionated documents such as reviews and news, with 500 among them labelled as positive documents and the remaining 500 as negative. In this study, sets of content words and sentiment words were extracted using a POS tagger in order to identify the optimal feature set in opinion classification. Findings addressed that it was more effective to employ LSI techniques than using a term indexing method in sentiment classification. The best performance was achieved by a supervised LSI technique.
The Chinese economic growth rate has been much higher than many countries of the world for many years now. Nowadays, China is experiencing significant economic transformation and structural adjustment. Its speed of development is slowing, and housing and commodity prices are slowly rising. Consequently, a series of economic and social problems have come into being. Under these circumstances, how satisfied are Chinese people on the seven aspects of daily living such as Housing Situation, Household Income, Health, Family Life, Food, Human Relations and Job? The Media and Public Opinion Research Center of Fudan University (FMORC) conducted a phone survey of 606 people living in Beijing, the capital and political and cultural center of China, and Shanghai, the Chinese economic center. The survey results show that the overall satisfaction of Chinese people with their daily life is high. The levels of Family Life and Human Relations are on the top, those of Food, Health and Jobs are listed from the third to the fifth, and satisfaction levels of their Housing Situation and Household Income are on the bottom. The satisfaction levels of males with their Family Life and Health are higher than those of females. Age has a significantly negative correlation with satisfaction with personal health. Monthly income has positive relationships with four aspects of daily life - house income, job, house situation, and family life. Owning a house in cities is another important factor that influences satisfaction with the house situation, house income, food, and family life. Shanghai residents also show higher satisfaction with their health than Beijing residents.
With the increase use of smartphones, users can consume contents such as webtoon, webnovel and TV drama directly provided by the producers. In this Direct-to-Consumer era, webdrama services from the portal websites are increasing rapidly. Webdramas such as , , and can be analyzed in real time using responses such as unique users, likes, and comments. The analyses used in this research were Social Media Big Data Mining Method and Opinion Mining Method. Specific key words from webdrama can be extracted and viewers positive, neutral or negative emotion can be predicted from the words. The analyses of popular webdramas showed that the established K-Pop Idol member appearance and servicing portal site greatly influence the views, traffics, comments, and likes. Also, 'Mobile TV' proved the effectiveness as another platform other than television. Mobile targeted contents and robust business models still to be developed and identified. Overcoming these few tasks, Korea will be proven to be a webdrama content powerhouse.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to survey the opinion and attitude of hospital managers toward the hospital evaluation program. Method : Managers of 157 hospitals which had participated in the hospital evaluation program were requested to respond to structured self-administered questionnaire. The questionnaire was composed with five categories: the preparation for the hospital evaluation program, the expertise levels of surveyors, the process and contents of the hospital evaluation program, the applying strategies for the result of the hospital evaluation to manager's work at their hospitals, and the main points to improve the hospital evaluation program. Result : 135 out of the 157 subjects completed the questionnaire, and the overall response rate was 86%. The hospital managers answered that they didn't have enough information such as the scoring rule of the standards, the process of the evaluation, and how to ask and get an answer to prepare the hospital evaluation. Furthermore, they estimated that the surveyors weren't specialized enough and didn't give a chance of checking over the result of the evaluation. In addition, they experienced that the result and feedback of the evaluation weren't enough information to be used as a guideline to improve in hospital management. Managers of the hospitals responded that the standards and method of survey in the hospital evaluation system should be reformed. Conclusion : Most of the responded managers seemed to have negative opinion on the hospital evaluation system, even though they were pushed up for interest in quality. Further studies and extensive evaluation of the hospital evaluation program are needed to bring up various information such as receptiveness and effectiveness.
