  • The purpose of this study is to investigate factors that explain the degree of need for community welfare services designed for the residents of Wonju City. For this purpose, we identify five categories of community welfare services : employment no income supporting programs, residence supporting programs, public health programs, family programs and welfare facilities for enhancing quality of life. The data come from 234 adults living in Wonju city, Major findings can be summarized as follows. Firstly, we find that participants are well aware of needs for community welfare service, and that the degree of need for public health services is the highest among the five types of welfare programs. Secondly, we find differential effects of the individual factors such as predisposing, enabling, and need, and the community factors such as quality of environmental facilities which make daily lives convenient, and residential region. Particularly, environmental facilities appear to have a strong association with high needs for the majority of welfare services. Finally, differences between urban and rural areas are still observed. These results suggest that the responsibility of Wonju city for providing diverse and adequate welfare services should be emphasized. Priorities for welfare policies based on the empirical data are also taken into consideration in the process of developing community welfare policies.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the perception and needs of doctors on clinical nutrition services. A cross-sectional survey design was used. The doctors' perception and needs were assessed by questionnaires that had been specifically designed for the study. The research was conducted from February 14 to March 15, 2011 for 544 doctors at 42 large hospitals (with over 400 beds). Ninety-eight percent of doctors responded that clinical nutrition service was important. The mean scores of importance on clinical nutrition service were 4.45 for 'nutrition screening at admission', 4.50 for 'treatment of malnutrition', and 4.43 for 'nutrition education and counseling'. The mean scores of needs for clinical nutrition service were 4.42 for 'individual nutrition counseling & education' 4.39 for 'nutrition management for malnourished patients' and 'nutrition management for tube fed patients'. The medical specialists showed significantly (P<0.01) higher scores than the residents on the importance and needs for clinical nutrition services. Eighty-five percent of the doctors recognized the necessity of the specialized dietitians classified by diseases. The medical specialists (93.8%) showed significantly (P<0.01) higher recognition of this necessity than the residents (77.7%). The low residents' perceptions of the importance and needs for clinical nutrition services will necessitate clinical nutrition education plans. The departments of clinical nutrition in universities should improve the ability and skills of the clinical dietitians.

  • The major purpose of this study was to identify the differences in priorities of nutrition service needs between the service provider and consumers (general population). Identification of the personal characteristics which influence the priorities of nutrition service needs among the general population was also examined. An interview survey using a questionnaire was conducted to collect the data required for analysis. The questionnaire included the priorities of various nutrition service needs as well as the personal characteristics of the study subjects. The study subjects were 300 residents over 40 years of age, and 15 health workers representing health center service personnel in Kyounggi province. Wilcoxon Rank Sums test were adopted to analize the differences in priority between the service providers and consumers. The results showed that priority of nutrition service needs for provider were significantly different from that of consumer. Gender, age, family type, and education levels of the population were the significant factors affecting the differences in priorities for nutrition service needs among consumers (general population). Out of the results, it could be suggested that consumers need should be considered in developing nutrition services to promote nutrition services utilization in health centers. The results may also suggest that one of the causes for the low utilization rate of nutrition services in health centers was the provider oriented program development regardless of the needs of consumers.

A questionnaire was modified pursuant to the IC & RC (International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium) Certified Prevention Specialist role delineation. The questionnaire consisted of five domains with 27 items. Data were collected via the self-administered questionnaire from October to November of 2009. 400 questionnaires were mailed and 144(36.0%) were returned. The collected data were analyzed using the Borich's needs assessment model and with SPSS/WIN 15.0. Results: Overall mean scores for the importance levels of competency ratings were 3.79, while the performance levels of the competency were 2.13 and Borich's need results were 6.32. Public Health and Mental Health Center showed the highest degree of educational needs in terms of education & program development (p=.022). Conclusion: The perceived importance levels pertaining to staff competency for alcohol prevention services in the workplace were higher than those of the current performance levels. • Objectives : This study analyzed the factors that determine the use and type of medical examination services (MES) to develop a model explaining the use behavior of MES which could consequently contribute to policy implications for medical examinations. Methods : Based on Anderson's healthcare utilization model, the MES utilization model was developed by including the perceived needs for MES. The data were collected from an online survey of a population aged 20-39 years and from a telephone survey of a population aged 40 years or older, respectively. Chi-Square tests and hierarchical logistic regression analyses were done with SAS version 9.3. Results : Generally, as health status became lower, the use of MES increased. However, patients with two or more chronic diseases were less likely to use private MES compared to patients with one chronic disease. The perceived needs for MES were only related to the use of service and not to the choice of the MES type. Conclusions : There were different results for the significant determinants between the use of the MES and the choice of the MES type. The healthcare industry needs to aware of consumer needs to provide MES based on empirical findings.

Building services for children is especially vital in changing public awareness and expanding the customer base. Therefore this study aims to present fundamental data required for improving exhibit services by understanding children users' perceptions and needs. For such purposes, this study examines the cases of both domestic and overseas exhibit services of presidential archives. Also, the study included the surveys of children and parents who have accompanied children visiting the presidential archive and experiencing the exhibit services. This study is meaningful in that it conducted the evaluation of archival exhibit services in the perspective of the children users. In addition, the analysis of children's satisfactions and needs can contribute to the spread of archival culture and the revitalization of children users' visitations.

  • As users' needs for customized services increase, the service provision method is changing from a vertical structural service provision method to a horizontal structural service provision method. This paradigm shift has led to a change from the way existing users find the content they want to find and provide customized needs of users by content providers. With the recent development of smartphones and various AI technologies, demand for providing seamless services such as smartphones is increasing in automobiles. However, it is difficult to provide services in line with changes in this service paradigm because automobile services provide services centered on finished car manufacturers rather than individually providing services tailored to user needs. In this paper, we develop a Node-RED-based dynamic vehicle service simulation tool so that users can use the service they want in cars. The simulation tool developed provides a simulation environment for services authored by the user using NodeRed by writing, registering, and using NodeRed.
