A non-linear finite element model (FEM) was constructed using a three-dimensional software (ATENA-3D) to investigate the effect of strengthening on the behavior of prestressed hollow-core (PHC) slabs with or without openings. The slabs were strengthened using near surface mounted (NSM)-carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) strips. The constructed model was validated against experimental results that were previously reported by the authors. The validated FEM was then used to conduct an extensive parametric study to examine the influence of prestressing reinforcement ratio, compressive strength of concrete and strengthening reinforcement ratio on the behavior of such slabs. The FEM results showed good agreement with the experimental results where it captured the cracking, yielding, and ultimate loads as well as the mid-span deflection with a reasonable accuracy. Also, an overall enhancement in the structural performance of these slabs was achieved with an increase in prestressing reinforcement ratio, compressive strength of concrete, external reinforcement ratio. The presence of openings with different dimensions along the flexural or shear spans reduced significantly the capacity of the PHC slabs. However, strengthening these slabs with 2 and 4 (64 and $128mm^2$ that represent reinforcement ratios of 0.046 and 0.092%) CFRP strips was successful in restoring the original strength of the slab and enhancing post-cracking stiffness and load carrying capacity.
This paper reports new repair and strengthening mathod using improved material. This mathod have two type according to covering thickness of reinforcement. One type is near surface mounted FRP rod. Anther type is overay. Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) materials has become very popular in recent years. FRP material used to rehabilitate many types of structures with superior characteristics such as high strength and stiffness and corrosion resistance. This strengthening mathod were used FRP rod which have better bond and shear strangth than current FRP rod. Development of FRP rod due to 3-D winding system. In addition, Ductile hybrid FRP has a certain plastic deformation and an elongation greater than 3% at maximum load is usually required for steel reinforcement in concrete structures. Moerover this mathod can be effective repair of base concrete by sprayed polymer mortar.
Recently, concrete structures with carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) reinforcements have been commonly used for the bridge and building construction. In this paper, pier caps were strengthened by prestressed near surface mounted CFRP. To verify the effectiveness of the strengthening method, 7 pier cap specimens were fabricated. One specimen was designed for control, two for external prestressing steel strands, two for CFRP plates, and two for CFRP bars. Experimental variables consist of type of reinforcement materials and prestressing levels. The results of laboratory have shown that the ultimate load capacities of prestressed near surface mounted CFRP specimens were about $20{\sim}33%$ greater than that of a control specimen. Also, ultimate load capacities of prestressed near surface mounted CFRP specimens were similar to those of external prestressing specimens with steel strands.

Steel plate bonding method with epoxy is common applied to repair and strengthen RC structures, but Steel is apt to corrode quickly, hard to manufacture and heavy. To overcome these defects, it is carried out research on strengthening RC structures with FRP(Fibre Reinforced Polyrner/Plastic) FRP is generally used in the shape of Plate or Sheet, but it has weak point such as premature failure, difficult work. To cope with these problem, NSMR(Near Surface Mounted Reinforcement) which uses CFRP in the shape of Rod is proposed and carried out active research on strengthening effect of variables such as quantity, anchorage length and space of CFRP-Rod. Strengthening with CFRP-Rod is carried out under loading to some degree in fact, and so the amount of pre-loading is selected as variable in this research. The amount of pre-loading is chosen in proportion to nominal strength of non-strengthened specimen with CFRP-Rod.

Recently, the Near-Surface-Mounting method using Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) has been developed and applied to the reinforcement of many concrete structural members. However, as a part of the fire resistance design, there is a lack of research related to fire insulation for the areas reinforced with FRP. In case of NSM reinforcement, there is a difference in the transferred temperature from the external surface to the groove corresponding to the location of the groove where the FRP is embedded, and the effect of this should be reflected in the fireproof insulation design. Therefore, in this study, after forming grooves for surface embedding in concrete blocks, fireproof insulation reinforcement was performed using Calcium Silicate (CS) fireproof board and an experiment to evaluate the temperature transfer was performed. By observing the temperature at these groove positions, the reduction of temperature transfer according to fireproof insulation detail was studied. As a result, when the NSM-FRP is properly fire-insulated using the CS-based fireproof board, the epoxy inside the groove does not reach its glass transition temperature until the external temperature reaches $800^{\circ}C$.

Recently FRP (Fiber Reinforcement Polymer) is widely used for the strengthening of damaged RC beams. Although many tests were carried out to verify flexural capacity of RC beams strengthened with FRP sheet or plate, the behavior of strengthened RC beams has not yet clearly verified. To investigate the strengthening efficiency of the Near Surface Mounted Reinforcement (NSMR) technique experimentally and analytically, a total of 7 specimens have been tested. The experimental results revealed that specimens strengthened with NSMR improved the flexural capacity of RC beams. Also, while the NSMR specimens utilized CFRP reinforcement efficiently compared to the EBR (Externally Bonded Reinforcement) specimen, the NSMR specimens still have debonding failure between epoxy and concrete interface. This study has proposed the model to predict failure modes and failure loads. Good agreement was obtained between the predicted and the experimental results.

This paper presents a fire exposure test result to evaluate fire resistance capacity of retrofit method using FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer) in reinforcement concrete structure. Especially, this paper focused on near-surface-mounted retrofit method; FRP is mounted into the groove after making a groove in concrete. In the test, main parameters are retrofit method and materials for fire proofing. Spray type of perlite and board type of calcium silicate were considered as external fire proof on surface while particle of calcium silicate and polymer mortar as internal one in groove. By increasing the temperature of inside heating furnace, the transfer of temperature from surface of fire proofing material to groove in specimen was measured. As a result, fire proofing using the board of calcium silicate was more effective to delay the heat transfer from outside than spraying with perlite. It was found that the fire proofing could resist outside temperature of $820^{\circ}C$ at maximum to keep the temperature of epoxy below glass transit temperature (GTT).
Due to the fast development of constructions in recent years, there has been a rapid consumption of fresh water and river sand. In the production of concrete, alternatives such as sea water and sea sand are available. The near surface mounted (NSM) technique is one of the most important methods of strengthening. Aluminum alloy (AA) bars are non-rusting and suitable for usage with sea water and sand concrete (SSC). The goal of this study was to enhance the shear behaviour of SSC-beams strengthened with NSM AA bars. Twenty-four RC beams were cast from fresh water river sand concrete (FRC) and SSC before being tested in four-point flexure. All beams are the same size and have the same internal reinforcement. The major factors are the concrete type (FRC or SSC), the concrete degree (C25 or C50 with compressive strength = 25 and 50 MPa, respectively), the presence of AA bars for strengthening, the direction of AA bar reinforcement (vertical or diagonal), and the AA bar ratio (0, 0.5, 1, 1.25 and 2 %). The beams' failure mechanism, load-displacement response, ultimate capacity, and ductility were investigated. Maximum load and ductility of C25-FRC-specimens with vertical and diagonal AA bar ratios (1%) were 100,174 % and 140, 205.5 % greater, respectively, than a matching control specimen. The ultimate load and ductility of all SSC-beams were 16-28 % and 11.3-87 % greater, respectively, for different AA bar methods than that of FRC-beams. The ultimate load and ductility of C25-SSC-beams vertically strengthened with AA bar ratios were 66.7-172.7 % and 89.6-267.9 % higher than the unstrengthened beam, respectively. When compared to unstrengthened beams, the ultimate load and ductility of C50-SSC-beams vertically reinforced with AA bar ratios rose by 50-120 % and 45.4-336.1 %, respectively. National code proposed formulae were utilized to determine the theoretical load of tested beams and compared to matching experimental results. The predicted theoretical loads were found to be close to the experimental values.

Bonded CFRP Plate method used murk in reinforcement method is very efficient for stress increment of reinforced members. But CFRP plate dosen't display enough its capacity and have the destruction characteristic of premature failure that reach failure by debond plate, because near-surface-bond using epoxy. Such destruction character of reinforced specimens take the influence at variables as steel reinforcement ratio, concrete strength, kind of reinforcement materials, reinforced length, property of epoxy used in binder and so on. In this study, performed experiment results are compared and considered on flexural performance of Near Surface Mounted Reinforcement used CFRP-Rod, as complement about structural behavior of RC beam reinforced flexural capacity in CFRP plate and premature failure of reinforcement material. Main variables of RC beam applied CFRP Plate external bond method are experimental variables as reinforcement length, reinforcement position (tension face and side face of beam) and existence of ironware in end parts. In case of CFRP-Rod, variable is reinforcement length.
Strengthening concrete structures with fiber reinforced polymer materials have grown to be a widely used method over most parts of the world today, which FRP was developed in 1960. A method to apply prestressing force to FRP is developed newly in these days, which can use the maximum performance of FRP materials. This paper presents the results of a study on improvement in flexural capacities of RC beams strenthened with near surface mounted prestressed CFRP rod and plate. Experimental variables include type of CFRP, prestressing level. Tests show that prestressed beams exhibit a higher crack-load as well as a higher steel-yielding load compared to non-prestressed strengthened beams.
