현대 패션에 나타난 민속풍(Ethnic look)에 관한 연구 (A Study on Ethnic look Expressed in Modern Fashion)

  • As a result of making an inquiry into the ethnic look of each region appearing in present-day fashion by Asia. America and Oceania. Africa and Europe as mentioned above, its characteristics could be summarized as follows: Firstly the Asian ethnic look consists of Indian, Chinese and Japanese looks as mainstream. In terms of form, the draped form constituted its mainstream, and both the draped form and the tunic form are appearing Simultaneously in the Chinese look. And in respect to color the Indian look is using luxurious primary colors red, blue, yellow and green and other regions are making overall use of natural colors. With respect to ornament various kinds of ornaments is utilized in Indian's Sari and turban. Chines's Coolie hat, straw hat and embroidery, knotted button, and bead ornament, and Japan's Obi and Obijime, etc. Secondly in America and Oceania, costurme representing the Indian look in North America and the picture of Western pioneer, and the Peruvian, Mexican and chilean ethnic looks in South America were expressing much. Here, the form consistied a draped form as its main strem, such colors as yellow, purple, grey, etc were much utilized, and the material of costume comprised knits, cotton and the like. And the ornament consisted of hats, tassel ornaments, bead ornaments, metal chain belt, long braided hair, etc. Thirdly, the African ethnic look had an exposing form and a draped form, and such colors as black, white, yellow, brown, etc were used as the fashion color. Ornaments such as precious stone, bead ornaments, animal bones, straw metal ornament, etc were used as fashion decorations. Fourthly, Russia's Cossack look, Bulgaria's Bavshika look, spain's ethnic look cane to the fore as the European look Both the draped form and the tunic form were used simultaneously as fashion form. And grey, brown, purple, etc were much used as fashion color in the European look. Such ornaments as Cossack. Bavshka, boots, tassel ornaments were much used and paisley pattern also was used.

대추농축액을 첨가한 브라운소스의 품질특성 (Quality Characteristics of Brown Sauce Added with Jujube Concentrate)

  • Brown sauce is very frequently used for western meat dishes, and this study aims to develop brown sauce for Asians and Koreans by adding jujube concentrate which has natural sugar and is used in Chinese medicine. The ingredients and sensory characteristics of brown sauce added with jujube concentrate were examined and the results are as follows. First, the moisture content increased with increased amount of jujube concentrate added, while the pH decreased. In the results of the sensory evaluation, the sample added with 5% jujube concentrate had the highest score, and the one added with 9% jujube concentrate had the lowest score in color. In the flavor evaluation, the sample added with 5% jujube concentrate had the highest score, and the one added with 9% jujube concentrate had the lowest score. In overall acceptability, the sample added with 5% jujube concentrate had the highest score, and the scores were high in order of 3%, 7%, and 9% concentrates when the samples were heated for 16 hours. Also, when making brown sauce made with beef leg bones, their ingredients continued to flow out even heated for more than 10 hours. Therefore, it was considered that more delicious and healthier sauce could be made by adding jujubes when making beef leg bone brown sauce. Based on these results, even though brown sauce originated from western foods, it can be used to Koreans' taste by adding Korean ingredients. Moreover, more recipes can be made from the brown sauce added with jujube concentrate for more Asians including Koreans to enjoy.

밀기울 부탄올 분획물이 파골세포의 분화억제에 미치는 효과 (Inhibition of Osteoclast Differentiation by Wheat Bran Butanol Fraction)

  • Osteoporosis is a disease of bones that leads to an increased risk of fracture. In osteoporosis, the bone mineral density is reduced, bone microarchitecture deteriorates, and the amount and variety of proteins in bone are altered. $It^{\circ}{\emptyset}s$ caused by the imbalance between born resorption and born formation. Recently natural products from plants have been extensively studied as therapeutic drugs to treat and prevent various diseases. Wheat bran is the hard outer layers of wheat grain and produced as a by-product of milling in the production of refined grains. In oriental medicines, Bu So Maek (Tritici Immaturi Semen) with wheat bran has been used as bronchitis, sedatives and anti-sweating effects. However effects of wheat bran butanol fraction (WBB, 50 ${\mu}g/ml$) in osteoclast differentiation remains unknown yet. Thus we investigated the effects of WBB on RANKL induced osteoclast differentiation. WBB inhibited osteoclast differentiation by downregulating the RANKL-induced activations of MAP kinases. Moreover mRNA expression of osteoclast-mediating molecules such as c-Fos, NFATc1 and DC-STAMP were attenuated by WBB during osteoclast differentiation. The finding of this study show that WBB and its components might prevent osteoclast-related bone loss.

New Evaluation of Initial Growth Mechanisms of Hydroxyapatite on Self-assembled Collagen Nanofibrils by Using ToF-SIMS and AFM Techniques

  • Bone is considered as hierarchically organized biocomposites of organic (collagen) and inorganic (hydroxyapatite) materials. The precise structural dependence between hydroxyapatite (HAp, $Ca_{10}(PO_4)_6(OH)_2)$ crystals and collagen fibril is critical to unique characteristics of bone. To meet those conditions and obtain optimal properties, it is essential to understand and control the initial growth mechanisms of hydroxyapatite at the molecular level, such as other nano-structured materials. In this study, collagen fibrils were prepared by adsorbing native type I collagen molecules onto hydrophobic surface. Hydrophobicity was introduced on the Si wafer surface by using PECVD (plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition) method and cyclohexane as a precursor. Biomimetic nucleation and growth of HAp on the self-assembled collagen nanofibrils were occurred through incubation of the sample in SBF (simulated body fluid). Chemical and morphological evolution of HAp nanocrystals was investigated by surface-sensitive analytical techniques such as ToF-SIMS (Time-of-Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry) and AFM (Atomic Force Microscopy) in the early growth stages (< 24 hrs). The very initial stages (< 12 hrs) of mineralization could be clearly demonstrated by ToF-SIMS chemical mapping of surface. In addition to ToF-SIMS and AFM measurement, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis were conducted to characterize the HAp layer in the late stages. This study is of great importance in the growth of real bone-like materials with a structure analogous to that of natural bones and the development of biomimetic nanomaterials.

Studies on phosphorus deficiency in the Qianbei-Pockmarked goat

  • Objective: Qianbei-Pockmarked goats are affected by a disorder locally referred to as 'Ruanguzheng Disorder', which is characterized by emaciation, lameness, muscular relaxation, stiffness of the extremities, and abnormal curvatures of the long bones. Our objective was to determine the relationship between the disorder and phosphorus deficiency. Methods: Tissue samples were collected from affected and healthy animals, while soil and herbage samples were collected from affected and healthy pastures. Biochemical parameters were determined using an automatic biochemical analyzer (OLYMPUS AU 640, Olympus Optical Co., Tokyo, Japan). Mineral contents in soil, forage, and tissue were determined using a Perkin-Elmer AAS5000 atomic absorption spectrophotometer (Perkin-Elmer, Norwalk, CT, USA). Results: The results showed that phosphorus contents in herbages from affected pastures were markedly lower than those from healthy areas (p<0.01), and the ratio of calcium to phosphorus in the affected herbages was 12.93:1. The phosphorus contents of wool, blood, tooth, and bone from affected animals were also markedly lower than those from healthy animals (p<0.01). Serum phosphorus values in affected animals were much lower than those in healthy animals, while serum alkaline phosphatase values from affected animals were markedly higher than those from healthy animals (p<0.01). Inorganic phosphorus values from affected animals were approximately half of that in the control group. Supplementation of disodium hydrogen phosphate prevented and cured the disorder. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that Ruanguzheng disorder in Qianbei-Pockmarked goats is primarily caused by phosphorus deficiencies in herbage due to fenced pastures and natural habitat fragmentation.

Role and functions of micro and macro-minerals in swine nutrition: a short review

  • Livestock production depends on the utilization of nutrients, and when this is accomplished, there is accelerated momentum toward growth with a low cost-to-feed ratio. Public concern over the consumption of pork with antibiotic residues in animals fed antibiotic growth promoters (AGP) has paved the way for using other natural additives to antibiotics, such as herbs and their products, probiotics, prebiotics, etc. Numerous feed additives are trending to achieve this goal, and a classic example is vitamins and minerals. Vitamins and minerals represent a relatively small percentage of the diet, but they are critical to animal health, well-being, and performance; both play a well-defined role in metabolism, and their requirements can vary depending on the physiological stage of the animals. At the same time, the absence of these vitamins and minerals in animal feed can impair the growth and development of muscles and bones. Most commercial feeds contain vitamins and trace minerals that meet nutrient requirements recommended by National Research Council and animal feeding standards. However, the potential variability and bioavailability of vitamins and trace elements in animal feeds remain controversial because daily feed intake varies, and vitamins are degraded by transportation, storage, and processing. Accordingly, the requirement for vitamins and minerals may need to be adjusted to reflect increased production levels, yet the information presented on this topic is still limited. Therefore, this review focuses on the role and function of different sources of minerals, the mode of action, the general need for micro and macro minerals in non-ruminant diets, and how they improve animal performance.

환경모니터링을 위한 집비둘기 깃털의 중금속 축적특성 연구 (The Characteristics of Heavy Metal Accumulations in Feral Pigeon (Columba livia) Feathers for Environmental Monitoring)

  • 집비둘기는 도시지역에서 환경오염물질의 생물축적 모니터링을 위한 지표종으로 알려져 있으며, 집비둘기 알은 생물 자체를 죽이지 않고도 생물축적의 경향을 모니터링할 수 있는 시료로서 유용하다. 하지만 알은 유기 오염물질 축적은 잘 되는 반면, 납, 카드뮴 같은 특정 중금속은 저농도로 축적되는 특성이 있기 때문에 중금속에 대한 적절한 모니터링을 위해 대체 시료의 연구가 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 집비둘기의 세척깃털을 이용하여 중금속 축적 특성을 연구하였고, 중금속 모니터링 시료로서의 가능성을 검토하였다. 도시지역인 서울 한강공원과 농촌지역인 함평군 함평공원을 대상으로 2013년 4월~5월에 집비둘기 개체 포획 및 알 채집을 실시하였고, 생체 조직, 세척깃털, 알의 중금속 5종(Pb, Cd, Total Cr, Ni, As)에 대한 축적 농도를 분석하였다. 중금속 5종의 생체 조직 내 축적 특성을 보면, 납(Pb)과 카드뮴(Cd)은 나머지 3종(Total Cr, Ni, As)에 비해 생체 조직 내 축적이 두드러지게 높게 나타났다. 특히, 납은 다른 중금속에 비해 지역 간 비교에서도 두드러진 농도 차이를 보였는데, 뼈, 간, 혈액에서 통계적으로 유의하게 농촌지역인 함평공원보다 도시지역인 한강공원이 높은 농도를 보였다. 이러한 경향은 깃털에서도 나타났다. 알 시료(알 내용물, 껍데기)는 깃털보다는 상대적으로 낮은 농도로 납이 축적되는 경향을 보였다. 깃털 중에서는 꼬리깃과 날개깃이 각각 신장 및 뼈 조직의 납 농도와 통계적으로 유의한 양의 상관관계를 보였다. 이상의 결과로 볼 때, 중금속 배출경로 요소(깃털, 알, 배설물 등) 중 하나인 깃털로 축적되는 납 농도는 다른 요소(예: 알)에 비해 상대적으로 높고, 환경 오염요소(대기, 토양, 먹이 등) 내 납 농도가 서로 차이나는 지역들 내의 집비둘기의 생체 축적농도 차이를 깃털이 어느 정도 반영할 가능성이 있을 것으로 판단된다.

강릉시 노인의 임상지표를 이용한 OHIP 14 (Oral Health Impact Profile 14)의 타당도 연구 (The Study on the Validity of the OHIP 14 (Oral Health Impact Profile 14) Using Health Index on Elderly Population, Gangneung City)

  • 한국 노인을 대상으로 외국에서 비교적 높은 신뢰도와 타당도가 입증된 Oral Health Impact Profile 14(OHIP 14)를 한국의 문화적 특성이나 사고방식에 맞게 번역하여 강릉시에 거주하는 노인 만 65세 이상 668명을 대상으로 2005년 1월부터 2월까지 2개월간 OHIP 14 지표의 신뢰도와 타당도를 검증(Kappa index, Cronbach's alpha Correlation & Spearman ranked correlation coefficient)하고, OHIP 14와(구강)건강인식도, 구강건강상태, 전신건강 상태와의 차이를 검증(Kruskal Wallis test, Mann-Whitney U-test)함으로써, 향후 우리나라 노인 구강건강문제를 포괄적으로 파악하기 위한 지표로 활용할 수 있는 지를 검토하고자 하였다. 1. (구강)건강인식도와 OHIP 14는 전신건강인식도, 구강건강인식도, 치과치료필요도, 구강건강만족도, 통증에 대한 시각적 정도, 틀니만족도, 구강건강상태와 OHIP 14는 무치악 여부, 현존 자연치아의 개수, 치아치료필요, 전신건강상태와 OHIP 14는 질병의 개수, 치매, 눈, 귀, 호흡기, 심혈관, 소화기, 비뇨생식기, 근골격계, 신경계, 심리상태가 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 2. (구강)건강인식도에 따른 OHIP 14는 전신건강인식도, 구강건강인식도, 치과치료필요도, 구강건강만족도, 통증에 대한 시각적 정도, 틀니만족도, 구강건강상태에 따른 OHIP 14는 무치악 여부, 치아치료필요, 현존 자연치아의 개수, 전신건강상태에 따른 OHIP 14는 치매, 귀, 호흡기, 심혈관, 소화기, 근골격계, 신경계, 심리상태에서 현저한 차이를 보였다. 본 연구는 일부 노인에서 임상지표를 이용한 OHIP 14에서 (구강)건강인식도, 구강건강상태, 전신건강상태가 OHIP 14와의 타당도와 연관성이 있다는 사실을 일부에서 확인할 수 있었다. 이상의 결과로 향후 한국노인의 구강건강문제를 포괄적으로 파악하는데 전통적인 구강건강 상태검사, 전신건강상태검사와 더불어 '구강건강 관련 삶의 질' 지표인 OHIP 14를 활용할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

아교 전처리 및 평가 조건에 따른 특성연구 (A Study on Characteristics of Animal Glue depending on Pretreatment and Evaluation Condition)

  • 아교는 짐승의 가죽이나 뼈를 정제하여 제조한 천연접착제로 목재, 종이 등의 공예나 단청 또는 그림 채색 시의 교착제로서 다방면에 사용되고 있다. 아교의 사용 조건은 다양하나 전처리 및 측정조건에 따른 아교 특성을 평가하는 방법이 정형화되어있지 않아 아교 생산 및 사용에 있어서 정확한 품질평가가 어려운 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 시중에 판매되고 있는 아교 및 젤라틴을 대상으로 팽윤과 온도, 농도 등의 조건을 세분화하여 특성 평가를 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 물리적 특성 평가는 아교를 23℃, 6시간 동안 팽윤한 뒤 점도 측정 시에 안정적인 결과 값을 나타냈으며 시판아교 12종 대상으로 점도 최솟값이 12.67 cP, 최댓값은 29.43 cP으로 측정되었다. 광학적 특성 평가에서는 10% 농도의 아교를 분광측색계의 반사모드로 측정 시 경향성 및 정제된 값을 가짐을 확인하였다. 분말아교는 중반대의 명도와 상중반대의 채도를 가지며 막대아교는 상대적으로 밝기가 낮으며 중반대의 채도를 가진 것으로 확인되었다. 본 연구를 통해 아교를 사용하는 작업자 또는 연구자에게 시판아교의 특성에 대한 기초자료를 제공하고, 향후 아교 특성을 평가하기 위한 평가기준 및 방법을 제시할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

키토산피복 임프란트 계면에 관한 조직학적연구 (THE HISTOLOGICAL STUDY ON INTERFACE BETWEEN BONE AND CHITOSAN COATED DENTAL IMPLANT)

  • In order to improve the success rate of implants, various implant designs have been developed. Although there have been enough efforts to handle the surface of the implant with careful choice of material and mechanics so that the bone and the implant can be tightly joined together, they have still failed to play the role of periodontal ligaments of the natural teeth in the past. The role of periodontal ligaments is very important since it can improve the initial stability of implant by absorbing the impacts. The purpose of this study is, thus, to test the possibility of alleviating the impact when the surface of the implant was coated with chitosan, a natural polymer, and making sure that the coated material stayed on. Then, the condition of newly developed bone formation and the degree of inflammation in response was closely observed in the surface level. In the main experiment, Chitosan coated implant ($3.3mm{\times}7mm$) was implanted on both the right and the left side of rabbit's femur. The animals were each sacrificed on the $1^{st}$, $2^{nd}$, $3^{rd}$, $7^{th}$, $14^{th}$, $21^{st}$ and 28th day. The process was observed under an light microscope after the Toluidin Blue staining. From the experiment, it was found that the chitosan was evenly distributed on the surface of the screws, and the implant was adjoined with adjacent bone. There was a sign of inflammation on the $3^{rd}$ day, but on the $14^{th}$ day, the formation of woven bone and newly formed bones were noticed. Also, chitosan filled the gap was formed between the implant and the newly formed bone. The implant, the chitosan and the newly formed bone were forming one unit as a result. Therefore, it was found that chitosan coated implant could absorbe the impact in the initial stage of implant.
