Purpose of this study is to supply data that need in qualitative improvement and plan for middle class through a post occupancy evaluation by the tenants in the rental apartment of national housing size. The results of this study are as follows; 1) Characteristic of household differ as the size tenants live in at present. But, usually characteristic of household was family life cycle was from child-rearing time to secondary education time, a family's number was 3${\sim}$4 person, and income per month was 1${\sim}$3 million won. 2) The satisfaction of whole and physical environment were satisfied more than average 3 points. However, the satisfaction of economic performance and administration environment were dissatisfied by average 3 points low. 3) Factors that affect in housing satisfaction were administration environment, the housing size, a family's number.
This study aimed at examining whether the national rental housing supplied by Korea National Housing Corporation (KNHC) is truly contributing to the upward mobility of housing in low-income households without their own house by comparatively analyzing whether those who moved out of the national rental housing made upward, horizontal or downward housing type mobility. The subjects of this study included 333 people who had moved out of three national rental housing complexes in Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do in 2007, which had opened to the first residents two years ago. A telephone survey involving the subjects was carried out. Collected data were analyzed through frequency analysis, cross tabulation analysis and multiple regression analysis, with using the type of residential mobility(downward mobility, horizontal mobility or upward mobility) according to "housing size" and "housing costs" as a dependent variable, and personal and family environment and economic environment as independent variables. According to the results of the analysis, 76.4% of the households made an upward mobility, 1.6% remained little changed, and 22% moved downward in terms of "housing costs," compared to before moving into the national rental housing and while living there. Furthermore, in terms of "housing size" 61.8% of the households moved upward, 16.5% remained little changed and 19.7% moved downward. The variables affecting the upward mobility of housing type included the number of income earners in a household, income earner's occupation and education level. Income earner's amount of income, age and family to support, on the other hand, turned out to have little effect on the upward mobility. Based on the results of the study, the following suggests were made for the supply of effective national rental housing. First, various features of each type of residential mobility should be reflected. Second, national rental housing residents' self-sufficiency should be enhanced to help them move upward in housing type.
The purpose of this study was to develop a housing choice behavior program to cultivate housing value orientation among middle-school students. The importance of cultivating housing value orientation in middle school was examined by investigating the relationship between housing value orientation and housing choice behavior, following which a program was developed to cultivate housing value orientation based on various housing values. Housing choice behavior was defined as selecting the ownership type, housing type, housing size, and neighborhood environment of housing, and the program was developed in 12 sessions to understand housing values and cultivate housing value orientation through learning housing choice behavior. The features of this program were as follows. First, although housing choice behavior is not covered in middle-school home economics, the 2015 revised national curriculum and current middle-school textbooks were analyzed and developed in consideration of the level available in schools. Second, it was possible to develop a housing value orientation that encompasses various housing values, including activities used to consider such values as the basis for housing choice behavior by each sessions. Third, the program was meaningful in that it developed practical problem-solving and living independence skills through learning activities, including available sites, experience cases, and housing welfare that cannot be experienced directly or indirectly.
The purpose of this study was to examine influence of home energy cost on housing cost burden of Korean and U.S. monthly renter households in urban areas and to explore influences of household and housing characteristics on their home energy cost burden. Microdata for this research was extracted from the 2011 Korean Household Budget Survey and 2009 American Housing Survey. Monthly renter households in urban areas were initially grouped based on household income, followed by a detailed analysis of housing and home energy cost. Findings are as follows: (1) The maximum ratio of home energy cost to household house hold income in Korea was 49% compared to 83% in the US; (2) Energy cost to income ratio were found to have significant influences on housing cost burden and lower income households' housing cost burden was found more vulnerable to their energy cost; (3) In general, the energy cost burden of low-income renter households in Korea tended to be influenced by household size, the number of household members staying at home during daytime hours and housing unit size. The energy cost burden of low-income renter households in the U.S. tended to be influenced by home structure type, size and age, the householder's age, race, educational attainment, the household size, number of wage earners per household, income, and the number of household members between 7 and 17 years of age.
This study explored housing situation and expectations of young (age between 20 and 34 years) single-person Jeon-se renters and monthly renters with deposit in relation with their family support and own housing cost burden status. Major findings from the analysis of 1,695,729 households were as follows: (1) Among subjects, 27.4% received family supports to pay their rent deposit, and 39.4% had more 'own housing cost burdens' to have housing costs minus the amount supported by their family be 30% or more of their income. (2) More than 11% were found to be 'more burdened' despite receipt of family supports. (3) Family support status was found to be related to formation of first-time households and tenure changes, while own housing cost burden was found to be related to current housing situation and previous and next housing size changes. (4) Households received family supports showed a greater proportion of first-time households or households experienced tenure upgrades. (5) 'Less burdened' households tended to expect housing size upgrade in their next move more positively. Based on the study findings, it was suggested to extend supply of rental housing and housing subsidy targeting young renters in conjunction with programs to encourage their savings.
The purpose of the study is to provide basic data to be useful for living environment of National Rental Housing, through comparative analysis of residential conditions, community consciousness of residents, characteristics of 3 complexes, whose residents have lived more than 3 years, different in area and size. Deungchon 11 Complex in Seoul, Eui-wang Naeson Complex, and Incheon Samsan 4 Complex are chosen for the investigation and the survey and 242 copies of the questionnaire are analyzed for the final result. Analyzing the contents of the survey results are as follows those deriving conclusions and suggestions. 1) Housing and construction standards are required to reconsider for enhancing of community consciousness and housing satisfaction of residents of National Rental Housing. 2) Spending on residential move, and minimize the unnecessary expense of low-income housing need to do to promote stability. 3) Facilities and equipments for residents are needed considering barrier-free design which introduces universal design. 4) Welfare facilities such as culture space and after-school classroom for teenagers are needed. 5) By using the broadcast media actively pro-mote, various layers are encouraged moving into National Rental Housing, through the concept of housing opportunities for change. 6) In short-term, community space are need remodeling and various activity programs are developed to induce activation of community facilities. In long-term, users considering a community facility plan, actively promoting activities, methods and operating system support for the government in the continuing policy and management is needed, when the National Rental Housing are planned to build. Therefore, the organic aspects such as the development and operation of the community program as well as the physical aspects such as the community space and facilities for the active community of the National Rental Housing are constantly considered in the follow-up studies.
The sound absorption property, hand feel, air permeability and pore size of 25 kinds of traditional Korean natural wallpapers (Hanji) were measured and analyzed in this study. The sound absorption rate of Hanji became larger with increasing of frequency beginning from 3.2 kHz, reached 2 times in frequency range of nearby 4 kHz. The sound absorption rate of Hanji was increased as the permeability was lowered and the pore size was decreased. The sound absorption property of Hanji wallpaper could be improved by manufacturing process such as super calendering process.

In this study, it was started with the research for improving the housing plan of the elderly and the aged housing environment. The spatial extent of the study is in Haedoji Village, Yeongdo, Busan, and the time ranged from the mid-1950s, when the Korean war broke out and the refugees started to settle, to the present as of August 2017. As Result, the size of the residential space per capita was overcrowded at $9.2m^2$ in the 1970s and 1980s, when the number of families was high, but since 2010, the size of the residential space currently living alone with only one elderly or couple was $29.2m^2$. In the future, it can be judged that the size of elderly housing can be expected to be envisioned within about $35{\sim}40m^2$ in consideration of the diversity of housing including table space in the 2LDK type.
The typical methods of mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP) and capillary flow porometry (CFP) were used to evaluate the pore size of cross-section of wood and the effect of the pore structure on the permeability of wood was analyzed in this study. The results of this study were as followings: The pore size of wood measured by CFP was larger than that measured by MIP except for Lime tree, Korean red pine and Paulownia. Among the three pore types of porous materials defined by IUPAC (through pores, blind pores, and closed pores), only through pores are related to permit fluid flow. MIP measures the pore size of both through pores and blind pores, while CFP measures the pore size of only constricted through pores. Therefore, pore size measured by MIP was not related to gas permeability, however pore size measured by CFP had a proportional relationship with gas permeability.

The policy introduced recently in order to promote small-size reconstruction housing projects for rehabilitating downtown area consists of aged multi houses has been little practiced, as preferential provisions for such projects are more likely applicable for large projects. Several expert interviews and surveys were conducted to find efficient clauses to overcome the problems and their relative weights. As the results, it is revealed that 'relation of floor area ratio' and 'relaxation of building height limit criteria' are the most effective whereas 'purchasing and operating of residents' common facilities with public fund' is little. The study results would be a great interests for public institutions to rebuild aged housing area without destroying local communities and to provide socially disadvantaged class with rental housing at the same time.
