First-order reliability method (FORM) is enhanced based on the search direction using relaxed conjugate reliability (RCR) approach for the embedded nanocomposite beam under buckling failure mode. The RCR method is formulated using discrete conjugate map with a limited scalar factor. A dynamical relaxed factor is proposed to control instability of proposed RCR, which is adjusted using sufficient descent condition. The characteristic of equivalent materials for nanocomposite beam are obtained by micro-electro-mechanical model. The probabilistic model of nanocomposite beam is simulated using the sinusoidal shear deformation theory (SSDT). The beam is subjected to external applied voltage in thickness direction and the surrounding elastic medium is modeled by Pasternak foundation. The governing equations are derived in terms of energy method and Hamilton's principal. Using exact solution, the implicit buckling limit state function of nanocomposite beam is proposed, which is involved various random variables including thickness of beam, length of beam, spring constant of foundation, shear constant of foundation, applied voltage, and volume fraction of ZnO nanoparticles in polymer. The robustness, accuracy and efficiency of proposed RCR method are evaluated for this engineering structural reliability problem. The results demonstrate that proposed RCR method is more accurate and robust than the excising reliability methods-based FORM. The volume fraction of ZnO nanoparticles and the applied voltage are the sensitive variables on the reliable levels of the nanocomposite beams.

This paper is concerned with the buckling behavior of functionally graded graphene reinforced porous nanocomposite beams based on the finite element method (FEM) using two variables trigonometric shear deformation theory. Both Young's modulus and material density of the FGP beam element are simultaneously considered as grading through the thickness of the beam. The finite element approach is developed using a nonlocal strain gradient theory. The governing equations derived here are solved introducing a 3-nodes beam element, and then the critical buckling load is calculated with different porosity distributions and GPL dispersion patterns. After a convergence and validation study to verify the accuracy of the present model, a comprehensive parametric study is carried out, with a particular focus on the effects of weight fraction, distribution pattern of GPL reinforcements on the Buckling behavior of the nanocomposite beam. The effects of various structural parameters such as the dispersion patterns for the graphene and porosity, thickness ratio, boundary conditions, and nonlocal and strain gradient parameters are brought out. The results indicate that porosity distribution and GPL pattern have significant effects on the response of the nanocomposite beams, and the results allows to identify the most effective way to achieve improved buckling behavior of the porous nanocomposite beam.
This paper deals with the buckling and optimization of a nanocomposite beam. The agglomeration of nanoparticles was assumed by Mori-Tanaka model. The harmony search optimization algorithm is adaptively improved using two adjusted processes based on dynamic parameters. The governing equations were derived by Timoshenko beam model by energy method. The optimum conditions of the nanocomposite beam- based proposed AIHS are compared with several existing harmony search algorithms. Applying DQ and Hs methods, the optimum values of radius and FS were obtained. The effects of thickness, agglomeration, volume percent of CNTs and boundary conditions were assumed. The results show that with increasing the volume percent of CNTs, the optimum radius of the beam decreases while the FS was improved.
The aim of this paper is to investigate the free vibration behavior of the micro sandwich beam composing of five layers such as functionally graded (FG) porous core, nanocomposite reinforced by carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and piezomagnetic/piezoelectric layers subjected to magneto electrical potential resting on silica aerogel foundation. The effect of foundation has been taken into account using Vlasov model in addition to rigid base assumption. For this purpose, an iterative technique is applied. The material properties of the FG porous core and FG nanocomposite layers are considered to vary throughout the thickness direction of the beams. Based on the Timoshenko beam theory and Hamilton's principle, the governing equations of motion for the micro sandwich beam are obtained. The Navier's type solution is utilized to obtain analytical solutions to simply supported micro sandwich beam. Results are verified with corresponding literatures. In the following, a study is carried out to find the effects of the porosity coefficient, porous distribution, volume fraction of CNT, the thickness of silica aerogel foundation, temperature and moisture, geometric parameters, electric and magnetic potentials on the vibration of the micro sandwich beam. The results are helpful for the design and applications of micro magneto electro mechanical systems.

Improving the mechanical properties of concrete in the construction industry in order to increase resistance to dynamic and static loads is one of the essential topics for researchers. In this work, vibration analysis of elastic nanocomposite beams reinforced by nanoparticles based on mathematical model is presented. For modelling of the strucuture, sinusoidal shear deformation beam theory (SSDBT) is utilized. Mori-anak model model is utilized for obtaining the effective properties of the strucuture including agglomeration influences. Utilizing the energy method and Hamilton's principal, the motion equations are calculated. The frequency of the elastic nanocomposite beam is obtanied by analytical method. The aim of this work is investigating the effects of nanoparticles volume percent and agglomeration, length and thickness of the beam on the frequency of the structure. The results show that the with enhancing the nanoparticles volume percent, the frequency is increased. In addition, the water absorption of the concrete is presented in this article.
Dynamic response and economic of a laminated porous concrete beam reinforced by nanoparticles subjected to harmonic transverse dynamic load is investigated considering structural damping. The effective nanocomposite properties are evaluated on the basis of Mori-Tanaka model. The concrete beam is modeled by the sinusoidal shear deformation theory (SSDT). Utilizing nonlinear strains-deflection, energy relations and Hamilton's principal, the governing final equations of the concrete laminated beam are calculated. Utilizing differential quadrature method (DQM) as well as Newmark method, the dynamic displacement of the concrete laminated beam is discussed. The influences of porosity parameter, nanoparticles volume percent, agglomeration of nanoparticles, boundary condition, geometrical parameters of the concrete beam and harmonic transverse dynamic load are studied on the dynamic displacement of the laminated structure. Results indicated that enhancing the nanoparticles volume percent leads to decrease in the dynamic displacement about 63%. In addition, with considering porosity of the concrete, the dynamic displacement enhances about 2.8 time.

In this paper, static and dynamic bending of nanocomposite micro beam armed with CNTs considering agglomeration effect is studied. The structural damping is considered by Kelvin-Voigt model. The agglomeration effects are assumed using Mori-Tanaka model. The micro beam is modeled by third order shear deformation theory (TSDT). The motion equations are derived by principle of Hamilton's and energy method assuming size effects on the basis of Eringen theory. Using differential quadrature method (DQM) and Newmark method, the static and dynamic deflections of the structure are obtained. The effects of agglomeration and CNTs volume percent, damping of structure, nonlocal parameter, length and thickness of micro-beam are presented on the static and dynamic deflections of the nanocomposite structure. Results show that with increasing CNTs volume percent, the static and dynamic deflections are decreased. In addition, enhancing the nonlocal parameter yields to higher static and dynamic deflections.
This paper presents the development of an educational management model for analyzing the dynamic instability of nanocomposite sandwich beams. The model aims to provide a comprehensive framework for understanding the behavior of sandwich micro beams with foam cores, featuring top and bottom layers made of smart and porous functionally graded materials (FGM) nanocomposites. The bottom layer is influenced by an external electric field, and the entire beam is supported by a visco-Pasternak foundation, accounting for spring, shear, and damping constants. Using the Kelvin-Voigt theory to model structural damping and incorporating size effects based on strain gradient theory, the model employs the parabolic shear deformation beam theory (PSDBT) to derive motion equations through Hamilton's principle. The differential quadrature method (DQM) is applied to solve these equations, accurately identifying the improvement in student understanding (ISU) of the beams. The impact of various parameters, including FGM properties, external voltage, geometric constants, and structural damping, on the DIR is thoroughly examined. The educational model is validated by comparing its outcomes with existing studies, highlighting the increase in ISU with the application of negative external voltage to the smart layer. This model serves as a valuable educational tool for engineering students and researchers studying the dynamic stability of advanced nanocomposite structures.

The resonance properties due to the surface plasmon(SP) excitation of metal nanoparticles make the nanocomposite films promising for various applications such as optical switching devices. In spite of the well-known ultra-sensitive operation of optical switches based on a guided wave, the application of nanocomposite film(NC) has inherent limitation originating from the excessive optical loss related with the surface plasmon resonance(SPR). In this study, we addressed this problem and present the experimental and theoretical analysis on the pump-probe optical switching in prism-coupled Au(1 vol.%):$SiO_2$ nanocomposite waveguide film. The guided mode was successfully generated using a near infrared probe beam of 1550 nm and modulated with an external pump beam of 532 nm close to the SPR wavelength. We extend our approach to ultra-fast operation using a pulsed laser with 5 ns pulse width. To improve the switching speed through the reduction in thermal loading effect accompanied by the resonant absorption of pump beam light, we adopted a metallic film as a coupling layer instead of low-index dielectric layer between the high-index SF10 prism and NC slab waveguide. We observed great enhancement in switching speed for the case of using metallic coupling layer, and founded a distinct difference in origin of optical nonlinearities induced during switching operation using cw and ns laser.
