  • In this study, nanoporous iron oxide layers were fabricated by the anodization of 304 series stainless steel. K2HPO4/glycerol solution was used as an electrolyte for anodization. We investigated the anodization behavior according to various parameters such as electrolyte concentration, reaction temperature, applied voltage, and reaction time. As a result of anodization, we confirmed that the anodic growth rate of oxide layer on 304 series stainless steel increased with increasing the electrolyte temperature and applied potential. In order to form well-ordered porous nanostructures, the electrolyte temperature was at 160 ℃, and the applied potential was at 30 V in 10 wt% K2HPO4/glycerol electrolyte.

  • Dynamic responses of porous piezoelectric and metal foam nano-size plates have been examined via a four variables plate formulation. Diverse pore dispersions named uniform, symmetric and asymmetric have been selected. The piezoelectric nano-size plate is subjected to an external electrical voltage. Nonlocal strain gradient theory (NSGT) which includes two scale factors has been utilized to provide size-dependent model of foam nanoplate. The presented plate formulation verifies the shear deformations impacts and it gives fewer number of field components compared to first-order plate model. Hamilton's principle has been utilized for deriving the governing equations. Achieved results by differential quadrature (DQ) method have been verified with those reported in previous studies. The influences of nonlocal factor, strain gradients, electrical voltage, dynamical load frequency and pore type on forced responses of metal and piezoelectric foam nano-size plates have been researched.

  • Based on differential quadrature method (DQM) and nonlocal strain gradient theory (NSGT), forced vibrations of a porous functionally graded (FG) scale-dependent beam in thermal environments have been investigated in this study. The nanobeam is assumed to be in contact with a moving point load. NSGT contains nonlocal stress field impacts together with the microstructure-dependent strains gradient impacts. The nano-size beam is constructed by functionally graded materials (FGMs) containing even and un-even pore dispersions within the material texture. The gradual material characteristics based upon pore effects have been characterized using refined power-law functions. Dynamical deflections of the nano-size beam have been calculated using DQM and Laplace transform technique. The prominence of temperature rise, nonlocal factor, strain gradient factor, travelling load speed, pore factor/distribution and elastic substrate on forced vibrational behaviors of nano-size beams have been explored.

  • Porous carbon materials were prepared with a thermal treatment of coal tar pitch at 550 in the Ar gas. Growth, merger, and distribution of pore were characterized with scanning electron microscopy as variation ascending temperature gradient and chamber pressure. After graphitizing at the 2600 (1 hr.), walls and connecting parts between pores were investigated with X-ray diffraction patterns. Wall thickness and pore size decreases as increasing ascending temperature gradient, and pore size becomes homogeneous. Graphite quality and thermal conductivity become higher due to the enhanced orientation of walls and connecting parts between pores.

  • Pure and nano-sized $TiO_2$ and $CaTiO_3$ powders were fabricated by a polymeric steric entrapment route and planetary milling process. An ethylene glycol was used as a polymeric carrier for the preparation of organic-inorganic precursors. Titanium isopropoxide and calcium nitrate were dissolved in liquid-type ethylene glycol without any precipitation. At the optimum amount of the polymer, the metal cations were dispersed in solution and a homogeneous polymeric network was formed. The dried precursor ceramic gels were turned to porous powders through calcination process. The porous powders were crystallized at low temperatures and the crystalline powders were planetary milled to nano size.

  • One of the promising routes for producing highly ordered nanostructures is a template method using the porous alumina membrane (PAM). Because the PAM is mechanically, chemically, thermally stabile with highly ordered structure, many researchers have studied under various experimental conditions to fabricate nanostructures. We present the information on the fabrication of about 300 nm nano-mask which have important applications for various patterned nanostructures.

  • Nanocrystalline porous silicon surfaces have been used to detect nitroaromatic compounds in vapor phase. The mode of photoluminescence is emphasized as a sensing attitude or detection technique. Quenching of photoluminescence from nanocrystalline porous surfaces as a transduction mode is measured upon the exposure of nitroaromatic compounds. Reversible detection mode for nitroaromatics is, too, observed. To verify the detection afore-mentioned, photoluminescent freshly prepared porous silicons are functionalized with different groups. The mechanism of quenching of photoluminescence is attributed to the electron transfer behaviors of quantum-sized nano-crystallites in the porous silicon matrix to the analytes(nitroaromatics). An attempt has been done to prove that the surface-derivatized photoluminescent porous silicone surfaces can act as versatile substrates for sensing behaviors due to having a large surface area and highly sensitive transduction mode.

  • Nanocomposites of reduced graphene oxide and manganese (II,III) oxide can be synthesized by the freeze-drying process of the mixed colloidal suspension of graphene oxide and manganese oxide, and the subsequent heat-treatment. The calcined reduced graphene oxide-manganese (II,III) oxide nanocomposites are X-ray amorphous, suggesting the formation of homogeneous and disordered mixture without any phase separation. The reduction of graphene oxide to reduced graphene oxide upon the heat-treatment is evidenced by Fourier-transformed infrared spectroscopy. Field emission-scanning electronic microscopy and energy dispersive spectrometry clearly demonstrate the formation of porous structure by the house-of-cards type stacking of reduced graphene oxide nanosheets and the homogeneous distribution of manganese ions in the nanocomposites. According to Mn K-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy, manganese ions in the calcined nanocomposites are stabilized in octahedral symmetry with mixed Mn oxidation state of Mn(II)/Mn(III). The present reduced graphene oxide-manganese oxide nanocomposites show characteristic pseudocapacitance behavior superior to the pristine manganese oxide, suggesting their applicability as electrode material for supercapacitors.

  • This paper describes the thermal and mechanical properties of doped thin film 3C-SiC and porous 3C-SiC. In this work, the in-situ doped thin film 3C-SiC was deposited by using atmospheric pressure chemical vapor deposition (APCVD) method at $120^{\circ}C$ using single-precursor hexamethyildisilane: $Si_2(CH_3)_6$ (HMDS) as Si and C precursors. 0~40 sccm $N_2$ gas was used as doping source. After growing of doped thin film 3C-SiC, porous structure was achieved by anodization process with 380 nm UV-LED. Anodization time and current density were fixed at 60 sec and 7.1 mA/$cm^2$, respectively. The thermal and mechanical properties of the $N_2$ doped porous 3C-SiC was measured by temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) and nano-indentation, respectively. In the case of 0 sccm, the variations of TCR of thin film and porous 3C-SiC are similar, but TCR conversely changed with increase of $N_2$ flow rate. Maximum young's modulus and hardness of porous 3C-SiC films were measured to be 276 GPa and 32 Gpa at 0 sccm $N_2$, respectively.
