We propose an unbiased signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) estimator for the high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) system. The proposed SIR estimator solves the problem of underestimation present in conventional SIR estimators and is suitable for channel quality measurement in the adaptive modulation and coding scheme of HSDPA, which requires accurate SIR estimation for optimum adaptive modulation and coding selection. Our analysis and simulation results demonstrate the improved estimation performance of the proposed SIR estimator.

For under-water communication system, due to limit of bandwidth and reflect of under-water wave, it is difficult to implement high-reliability high-speed digital communication system. To apply high-reliability and high-speed communication system for under-water system, the efficient combine the channel design with the use of multiple transmit and/or receive antennas. Therefore this paper analyze the space time coded system for under-water communication environment.

MIMO(Multi-Input Multi-Output)) system, which can increase the channel capacity by in multiple transmit and/or receive antennas, has been intensively studied for higher data rates and better quality in wireless communications. This paper treats the MIMO channel modeling and analyze the performance of V-BLAST system with ZF receiver and MMSE reciver, using OSUS algorithm respectively, over MIMO channel.

In this paper, a X-Band T/R-module for SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) systems based on active phased array antennas is designed and fabricated. The T/R modules have a and width of more than 800 MHz centered at X-Band and support dual, switched polarizations. The output power of the module is 7 watts over a wide bandwidth. The noise figure is as low as 3.9 dB. Phase and amplitude are controlled by a 6-bit phase shifter and a 6-bit digital attenuator, respectively. Further the fabricated T/R module has est and calibration port with directional coupler and power divider. Highly integrated T/R module is achieved by using LTCC(Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic) multiple layer substrate. RMS gain error is less than 0.8 dB max. in Rx mode, and RMS phase error is less than $4^{\circ}$ max. in Rx/Tx phase under all operating frequency band, or the T/R module meet the required electrical performance m test. This structure an be applied to active phase array SAR Antennas.

In this paper, the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system with a precoder is considered in the transmit-correlated Rayleigh channels. We specifically target the MIMO system employing the minimum mean square error receivers. Based on random matrix theory, we first present a direct and generalized formulation for deriving a probability density function (PDF) of the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR). Then, we derive the accurate closed-form SINR PDFs for a small number of transmit and receive antennas. Based on the SINR PDFs, tight closed-form approximations of the symbol error rate (SER) are derived. Our analysis suggests that the SER approximations can be used to accurately estimate the error probabilities or as a useful tool for the system design.

In typical cellular systems using frequency reuse scheme, the terminal suffers a performance degradation due to the intercell interference signals from adjacent cells as the terminal moves toward the cell boundary. In this paper, a signal transmission and reception scheme which achieve spatial multiplexing and beamforming gain from a distributed MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) channel using multiple-antenna terminal is proposed for the spectral efficiency enhancement in a multi-cell downlink environment, when geographically separated base stations cooperatively transmit signals. In particular, we analyze the effective signal-to-interference ratio and spectral efficiency of the proposed scheme for different frequency reuse patterns and for varying numbers of receive antennas, and compare with the performance of the MRC (maximal ratio combining) reception scheme in typical cellular systems. We evaluate the amount of transmission efficiency of the scheme by comparing the performance near the cell boundary where the strong intercell interference is experienced.

This paper considers hybrid beamforming for millimeter wave system in uplink transmission where multiple users send their data streams simultaneously. Hybrid beamforming has low-cost and low power consumption features compared to conventional digital beamforming schemes. We assume that each user uses one transmit antenna and sends one data stream, while the base station has multiple receive antennas and multiple radio frequency chains. Therefore, hybrid beamforming is performed only at the base station. We also assume that each user does not know instantaneous channel side information (CSI), while the base station is able to estimate the CSI from all users accurately. Under this channel assumption, the outage probability is not zero. We evaluate the outage probability of the considered hybrid beamforming as a performance metric through computer simulations. We show that the outage probability of hybrid beamforming approaches that of digital beamforming in some cases.

It has been shown that the performance of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) spatial multiplexing systems is significantly degraded when spatial correlation exists between transmit and receive antenna pairs. In this paper, we investigate designs of a new statistical precoder for spatial multiplexing systems with maximum likelihood (ML) receiver which requires only correlation statistics at the transmitter. Two kinds of closed-form solution precoders based on rotation and power allocation are proposed by means of maximizing the minimum E tlidean distance of joint symbol constellations. In addition, we extend our results to linear receivers for correlated channels. We provide a method which yields the same profits from the proposed precoders based on a simple zero-forcing (ZF) receiver. The simulation shows that 2dB and 8dB gains are achieved for ML and ZF systems with two transmit antennas, respectively, compared to the conventional systems.

Recent works on ad hoc network study have shown that achievable throughput can be made to scale linearly with the number of receive antennas even if the transmitter has only a single antenna. In this paper, we propose a non-parametric linear minimum mean square error (MMSE) receiver for achieving further gain in performance when the channel state information at receiver (CSIR) of interferers is imperfect. The key feature to make our approach effective is to exploit the autocorrelation of the received signal. In fact, by incorporating the desired channel information on top of the observations including interference and noise only, the proposed method achieves large fraction of the optimal MMSE transmission capacity without transmission rate loss. From the SINR analysis as well as transmission capacity simulations in realistic ad hoc network system, we show that the proposed non-parametric linear MMSE receiver brings substantial performance gain over existing multiple receive antenna algorithms.

As satellite communication technology with high efficiency and spatiality evolves, demands of customer for efficient and effective satellite broadcasting services are increasing due to interval reduction of the between satellites, and the limited radio-frequency spectrum resources. Recently, research on antenna that it possible to simultaneously receive multiple signal from various satellites while holding maintain the same number of previous reception channels by using the single reflector has been ongoing. It is necessary to be able to simultaneously receive signals from various satellites in order to maintain the same number of previous reception channels. We suggest a multiband antenna which can be simultaneously and independently receiving Ku band and Ka band satellite broadcasting signals transmitted by three adjacent satellites. We have designed and simulated using commercial design tools TICRA CHAMP and CST MWS to meet the target specifications. It appears that the antenna has -10 dB return loss, and more than 40 dBi directivity gain in Ku band and Ka band respectively.
