Range and velocity measurement algorithm is a procedure for estimating the accurate target position by using matched filter outputs equally spaced both in range and doppler frequency domain. Especially, in measurement algorithm for multi-function radar, it is necessary to consider processing time as well as accuracy in order to track multi-targets simultaneously. In this paper, we analyze range and velocity measurement algorithm using discriminator estimation method which is a technique applied to angle measurement of monopulse radar. The applied method required constant processing time for estimation can be used in multiple target tacking. But, it is necessary to consider measurement accuracy because of using minimum channel outputs for estimation. In the simulation, we show that the applied method is superior to the traditional gravity center measurement algorithm with respect to the accuracy performance and also analyze the characteristics of the proposed technique by calculating RMS error level as the processing parameters such as pulse width , channel step, etc. change.

The purpose of this research was to develop a the reflection technique with near infrared (NIR) radiation for estimating physico-chemical properties in compost. The composts (cattle, pig, chicken and waste composts) were air dried and then ground to pass through a 0.5 or 2mm sieve for the physico-chemical properties and spectroscopic determinations. The physico-chemical properties of compost were shown high values ; moisture(30-60%), T-N(0.8-2.9%), organic matter(29-89%), pH(5.89-9.60) K$_2$O(0.27-5.66%), P2O$\sub$5/(0.07-2.62%), CaO(0.03-4.80%), MgO(0.09-1.56%), NaCl(0.01-1.13%), EC(1.41-13.76dS/m). Generally, we should select a simple calibration and prediction method for determining physico-chemical properties in compost under similar accuracy and precision of prediction. It should be remembered that the NIRS approach will never replace the traditional methods. However, NIRS technique may be an effective method for rapid and nondestructive measurements of a large number of compost samples. Near infrared reflectance spectra of composts was obtained by Infra Alyzer 500 scanning spectrophotometer at 2-nm intervals from 1100 to 2500nm. Multiple linear regression(MLR) or partial least square regression (PLSR) was used to evaluate a NIRS method for the rapid and nondestructive determination of physico-chemical properties and humic acid contents in composts. The standard error of prediction(SEP) for finely sized sample(<0.5mm) and coarsely sized sample(<2mm) did not show much difference. The NIR instrument of filter type showed the same accuracy of the monochromator scanning type to estimate the compost properties. The results summarized that NIR spectroscopy can be used as a routine testing method to determine quantitatively the OM, moisture, T-N, color, pH, cation content in the compost samples nondestructively.

In this paper, we propose a technique for high speed removal of sea-fog using a graphic processor. This technique uses a host processor(CPU) and several graphics processors(GPU) capable of parallel processing to remove sea-fog from the input image. In the process of removing sea-fog, the dark channel extraction, the maximum brightness channel extraction, and the calculation of the transmission are performed by the host processor, and the process of refining the transmission by applying the bidirectional filter is performed in parallel through the graphic processor. To verify the proposed parallel processing method, three NVIDIA GTX 1070 GPUs were used to construct the verification environment. As a result, it takes about 140ms when implemented with one graphics processor, and 26ms when implemented using OpenMP and multiple GPGPUs. The proposed a parallel processing algorithm based on the graphics processor unit can be used for safe navigation, port control and monitoring system.
Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry (InSAR) is affected by various noise source such as atmospheric artifact, orbital error, processing noise etc.. Especially, one of the dominant noise source for long-wave SAR system, such as ALOS PALSAR (L-band SAR satellite) is the ionosphere effect because phase delays on radar pulse through the ionosphere are proportional to the radar wavelength. To avoid misinterpret of phase signal in the interferogram, it is necessary to detect and correct ionospheric errors. Recently, a MAI (Multipler Aperture SAR Interferometry) based ionospheric correction method has been proposed and considered one of the effective method to reduce phase errors by ionospheric effect. In this paper, we introduce the MAI-based method for ionospheric correction. Moreover we propose an efficient method that apply the method over non-coherent area using directional filter. Finally, we apply the proposed method to the ALOS PALSAR pairs, which include the west sea coast region in Korea. A polynomial fitting method, which is frequently adopted in InSAR processing, has been applied for the mitigation of phase distortion by the orbital error. However, the interferogram still has low frequency of Sin pattern along the azimuth direction. In contrast, after we applied the proposed method for ionospheric correction, the low frequency pattern is mitigated and the profile results has stable phase variation values within ${\pm}1rad$. Our results show that this method provides a promising way to correct orbital and ionospheric artifact and would be important technique to improve the accuracy and the availability for L-band or P-band systems.

We have examined the effects of certain mutations of the selectivity filter and of the membrane helix M2 on $Ba^{2+}$ blockage of the inward rectifier potassium channel, Kir 2.1. We expressed mutant and wild type murine Kir 2.1 in Chinese hamster ovary(CHO) cells and used the whole cell patch-clamp technique to record $K^+$ currents in the absence and presence of externally applied $Ba^{2+}$. Wild type Kir2.1 was blocked by externally applied $Ba^{2+}$ in a voltage and concentration dependent manner. Mutants of Y145 in the selectivity filter showed little change in the kinetics of $Ba^{2+}$ blockage. The estimated $K_d(0)$ was 108 ${\mu}M$ for Kir2.1 wild type, 124 ${\mu}M$ for a concatameric WT-Y145V dimer, 109 ${\mu}M$ for a WT-Y145L dimer, and 267 ${\mu}M$ for Y145F. Mutant channels T141A and S165L exhibit a reduced affinity together with a large reduction in the rate of blockage. In S165L, blockage proceeds with a double exponential time course, suggestive of more than one blocking site. The double mutation T141A/S165L dramatically reduced affinity for $Ba^{2+}$, also showing two components with very different time courses. Mutants D172K and D172R(lining the central, aqueous cavity of the channel) showed both a decreased affinity to $Ba^{2+}$ and a decrease in the on transition rate constant(${\kappa}_{on}$). These results imply that residues stabilising the cytoplasmic end of the selectivity filter(T141, S165) and in the central cavity(D172) are major determinants of high affinity $Ba^{2+}$ blockage in Kir 2.1.

An FM radio based PCL system is a passive radar technique for detecting the multiple moving targets from FM radio signals and tracking the trajectories of the targets by calculating the cross-correlation function of direct-path signal and target echo signals. However, the interference signals are received from a surveillance channel, which is designed to receive the target echo signals. Because of this problem, the target echo signals are masked by the strong interference signals and this makes it difficult to detect the true targets from the cross-correlation function. Adaptive filters are known as effective methods for suppressing the interference signals but there is a problem to present their accurate performances in the PCL system because many literatures used the cross-correlation function and the ratio of input and output power as a measure of the performance analysis. In this paper, a performance analysis method is proposed to evaluate the performance of interference cancellation algorithms. By using the property that each component of the filter weight vector is adjusted to suppress the specific interference signal, a performance measure of the interference signal suppression is defined by a function of adaptive filter weights. Based on the proposed method, we compare the performance of the adaptive filters used in the PCL system. Simulation results show that the proposed method can be very effective for evaluating the performance of interference cancellation algorithms.

We perform a 3D tomographic inversion using surface wave dispersion curves to obtain S-velocity model and radial anisotropy beneath Saudi Arabia. The Arabian Peninsula is geologically and topographically divided into a shield and a platform. We used event data with magnitudes larger than 5.5 and epicentral distances shorter than $40^{\circ}$ during 2008 ~ 2014 from the Saudi Geological Survey. We obtained dispersion curves by using the multiple filtering technique after preprocessing the event data. We constructed SH- and SV-velocity models and consequently radial anisotropy model at 10 ~ 60 km depths by inverting Love and Rayleigh group velocity dispersion curves with period ranges of 5 ~ 140 s, respectively. We observe high-velocity anomalies beneath the Arabian shield at 10 ~ 30 km depths and low-velocity anomalies beneath the Arabian platform at 10 km depth in the SV-velocity model. This discrepancy may be caused by the difference between the Arabian shield and the Arabian platform, that is, the Arabian shield was formed in Proterozoic thereby old and cold, while the Arabian platform is covered by predominant Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and Cenozoic sedimentary layers. Also we obtained radial anisotropy by estimating the differences between SH- and SV-velocity models. Positive anisotropy is observed, which may be generated by lateral tension due to the slab pull of subducting slabs along the Zagros belt.

Target processing mechanisms are necessary to collect target information, real-time data fusion, and tactical environment recognition for cooperative engagement ability. Among these mechanisms, the target tracking starts from predicting state of speed, acceleration, and location by using sensors' measurements. However, it can be a problem to give the reliability because the measurements have a certain uncertainty. Thus, a technique which uses multiple sensors is needed to detect the target and increase the reliability. Also, data fusion technique is necessary to process the data which is provided from heterogeneous sensors for target tracking. In this paper, a target tracking algorithm is proposed based on probabilistic data association(PDA) by fusing radar and ESM sensor measurements. The radar sensor's azimuth and range measurements and the ESM sensor's bearing-only measurement are associated by the measurement fusion method. After gating associated measurements, state estimation of the target is performed by PDA filter. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm provides improved estimation under linear and circular target motions.
In this study, our purpose is to develop a technique to discriminate artificial explosions from local microearthquakes on the basis of time-frequency domain. To obtain spectral features of artificial explosions and microearthquakes, we used 3-d spectrograms(frequency, time and amplitude) because this is a useful tool to study the frequency content of entire seismic waveforms observed at local and regional distances (e. g., Kim et al., 1994). P and S waves from quarry blasts show that frequency content of dominant amplitude appeared above 10 Hz and Rg phases that are observed at near distance ranges. But P and S waves from microearthquakes have more broad frequency content as well as below 10 Hz. And for discrimination, Pg/Lg spectral ratio is performed below 10 Hz. In order to select time windows we computed group velocity using multiple filter method(MFM) and removed free surface effects from all 3-components data for improving on data quality. Next step, we computed Fast-Fourier transform, and a log average spectral amplitude over seven frequency bands : 0.5 to 3, 2 to 4, 3 to 5, 4 to 6, 5 to 7, 6 to 8 and 8 to 10 Hz. The best separation is observed from 6 to 8 Hz.

In this paper, we designed a low power face detection hardware and analysed its power consumption. The face detection hardware was fabricated using Samsung 0.18um CMOS technology and it can detect multiple face locations from a 2-D image. The hardware is composed of 6 functional modules and 11 internal memories. We introduced two operating modes(SLEEP and ACTIVE) to save power and a clock gating technique was used at two different levels: modules and registers. In additional, we divided an internal memory into several pieces to reduce the energy consumed when accessing memories, and fully utilized low power design option provided in Synopsis Design Compiler. As a result, we could obtain 68% power reduction in ACTIVE mode compared to the original design in which none of the above low power techniques were used.
