In recent years, Transport Demand Management has been conducted for the efficient management of transport. In ITS applications in particular, the prerequisite is accurate and reliable positioning. However, the major problems are satellite signal outage, and multipath. This paper proposes that outage and multipath measurement can be detected and estimated using elevation angle and signal to noise ratio data association relation in stand-alone GPS. In order to verify the performance of the proposed method, it is then evaluated by the car test. the evaluation test environment has low accuracy and unreliable positioning because of signal outage or multipath such as steep hill and high buildings. In the evaluation test result, 918times abnormal signal occurred and it was confirmed that the proposed method showed more improved 9.48m(RMS) horizontal positioning error than without proposed method.
In this paper, we design a rake-based cellular radar receiver (CRR) scheme to detect a moving target located in a multipath environment. The modules of Doppler filter banks, threshold level test, and target detection module are newly introduced into the conventional rake receiver so that it can function as a radar system. The proposed CRR tests the Doppler-shift frequency and signal-to-noise ratio of the received signal against predefined threshold levels to determine detection and then calculates target velocities and ranges. The system performance is evaluated in terms of detection probability and the maximum detection range under a Nakagami-n channel that reflects the multipath environment.

The potential ability of the Applebaum type adaptive array to suppress the multipath signals is examined. The output Signal-to-Noise Ratio is expressed in terms of (1) the input SNR. (2) relative multipath signal amplitude, and (3) ambient noise when a multipath component is present Computer simulation is done on several performance measures to learn that the performance of the array depends upon the magnitude and the phase of the correlation coefficient. It is also shown that the performance is maximized when the phase of the correlation coefficient is zero degree.
In CDMA systems, the performance of the typical multipath searcher degrades much according as the signal to noise ratio becomes low. In this paper, multipath searcher algorithm is proposed based on sliding window to overcome this drawback. In searcher systems, correlation values between incoming and local PN sequences are used to acquire multipath components. Therefore more accurate distributions of correlation values obtained through this proposed algorithm enables to get higher detection probability. In computer simulations, it is verified that proposed algorithm has better performances in Rayleigh fading channel and Gaussian channel.

Multipath is an inevitable error source in radio navigation system such as GPS, it causes signal tracking errors such as carrier tracking errors, code tracking errors. Since code tracking error is a dominant error in absolute positioning, this paper focuses on the improvement of code tracking performance. This paper proposes a method that detects the change of autocorrelation function's slope and mitigates the multipath error. Also, this paper shows the performance evaluation results by post-processing the digitized RF samples.

In this paper, an energy detection-based low power, low complexity IR-UWB receiver in multipath impulse radio channel is presented. The proposed receiver has a simple 1-bit sampler for energy detection. Also, multipath signal received from multipath impulse radio channel is amplified and envelope of the signal is detected. Then, energy detection technique using integrator by summing multipath signals in certain period is adopted to minimize the BER loss by simple energy detection. In particular, in acquisition of a sample signal, SNR is additionally improved using a digital sampler. Symbol decision using several sampled signals is performed and thus the process of symbol synchronization is significantly simplified. Also, it is effectively designed to be compatible with influences of multipath and timing error. In addition, the proposed receiver complexity is reduced using pulse decision window. The performance of the proposed receiver is simulated based on IEEE 802.15.4a channel model and the algorithms are implemented on FPGA.

Underwater acoustic communication has multipath error because of reflection by sea-level and sea-bottom. The multipath of underwater channel causes receive signal to make error floor. In this paper, we propose the underwater communication system using various channel coding schemes such as RS coding, convolutional code, turbo code and concatenated code for overcoming the multipath effect in underwater channel. As shown in simulation results, characteristic of multipath error is similar to that of random error. So interleaver has not effect on error correcting. For correcting of error floor by multipath, it is necessary to use strong channel codes like turbo code. Turbo code is one of the iterative codes. And the performance of concatenated codes including RS code has better performance than using singular channel codes.
The effect of multipath is especially serious in urban area and sea surface where buildings and water reflect GPS signal. Multipath brings about the performance degradation on many GPS application because the presence of multipath causes the diminution of pseudorange measurement accuracy in turn position accuracy. In this paper, a multipath mitigation named weighted correlation method is implemented on software GPS receiver, in which the asymmetric correlation function is compensated by modifying the late correlation value. Asymmetry compensation is obtained as weighted sum of two correlators which have different early-late chip spaces. This structure is adopted to lessen the computation load lower keeping up performance similar to that. The performance of implemented multipath mitigation technique is evaluated using GPS signal and multipath signal generated by GPS signal generator and software GPS receiver. The test results show that the weighted correlation method gives hefter performance than the standard correlator and the narrow correlator.

The satellite communication is an important method for maritime communications. Binary offset carrier (BOC) signal is a promising candidate of next generation global navigation satellite systems (GNSS). Synchronization of BOC signal is one of the most important processes to demodulate BOC signal in GNSS. However, in maritime environment, the synchronization of BOC signal is suffered from the problem of side-peak of BOC autocorrelation function and multipath fading caused by the sea surface reflection. In this paper, we proposed a novel synchronization scheme which can eliminate side-peak perfectly and is robust in multipath channel. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme has better performance than conventional schemes in multipath channel.
In this paper, a GNSS error generation simulator for Signal Quality Monitoring (SQM) is implemented by using Matlab based on mathematical models derived from the effect of GNSS signal and measurement errors. The GNSS signal measurement errors of interest in this paper include three cases such as Evil Wave Form (EWF), Multipath (MP) and Radio Frequency Interference (RFI). In order to verify the validity of the generated measurement errors, a simple form of metrics for detecting and monitoring GNSS errors is included in the simulator. The GNSS errors generated by the simulator are added to the GNSS measurement data from commercial GNSS receiver in real time, and then, the SQM is tested for various scenarios of each case configured by scenario setting of the user.
