Method for synchronizing multimedia data is needed to support continuous transmission of multimedia data through a network in a bounded time and it also required for supporting continuous presentation of multimedia data with the required norminal playout rate in distributed network environments. This paper describes a new synchronization method for supporting delay-sensitive multimedia Presentation without degration of Quality of services of multimedia application. It mainly aims to support both intermedia and intermedia synchronization by absorbing network variations which may cause skew or jitter. In order to remove asynchonization problems, we make use of logical time system, dynamic buffer control method, and adjusting synchronization intervals based on the quality of services of a multimedia. It might be more suitable for working on distribute[1 multimedia systems where the network delay variation is changed from time to time and no global clock is supported. And it also can effectively reduce the amount of buffer requirements needed for transfering multimedia data between source and destination system by adjusting synchronization intervals with acceptable packet delay limits and packet loss rates.

In the real-time delivery of multimedia data streams over networks, the interruption of continuity in a single media stream and the mismatching of the data within the same time interval in multimedia data streams transfered in paralled on different channels are considered as the most serious synchronization problems. There are several mechanisms proposed to handle these problems. In this paper, these mechanisms are analyzed and compared in various point of view by the computer simulation. According to the simulation results, it has been shown that the method which uses the segmentation and the method which uses the seperate synchronization channel are superior to the method which uses the synchronization marks in view of the real-time transmission and quality of sevice. On the other hand, it can be seen that the method which uses the segmentation is superior to the method which uses the seperate synchronization channel from a channel utilization's point of view.
The basic requirements of distributed multimedia systems are intramedia synchronization which asks the strict delay and jitter for the check period of media buffer and the scaling duration with periodic continuous media such as audio and video media, and intermedia synchronization that needs the constraint for relative time relations among them when several media are presented in parallel. In this paper, a distributed intermedia synchronization algorithm that solves the intermedia synchronization problem by using variable service rates based on the fuzzy logic is designed and then the performance is evaluated through simulation.
In distance education, use of proper software tools can greatly enhance student's attention and learning efficiency. In such software tools, offering diverse multimedia information is one of the most critical factors. However, integration and synchronization of the various media types has been relatively difficult parts of implementation. This paper proposes a prototype system that uses a metafile and event handling mechanism for the uniform treatment of various media types. This event-level integration and synchronization of multimedia makes the implementation relatively simple. With this approach, instructor's behaviors are automatically recorded, and the instructors can freely choose and show any type of multimedia contents while lecturing. Current commercial or non-commercial lecture management systems could incorporate this approach, so that the distance education market could be expanded with richer multimedia contents.
PBS(Pairwise Broadcast Synchronization) is a well-known synchronization scheme for WSN(Wireless Sensor Networks). As PBS needs the set of node-pairs for network-wide synchronization by over-hearing, GPA(Group-Wise Pair Selection Algorithm) was also proposed after PBS. However, GPA is complex and requires too many message transmissions, leading to much power consumption. Besides, GPA is not appropriate to topology change or mobile wireless sensor networks. So, we propose a new and energy-efficient pair-node selection algorithm for PBS. The proposed scheme's performance has been evaluated and compared with GPA by simulation. The results are shown to be better than GPA.

For interchange of multimedia informations and presentation as intented by objects composer, there are need to interchange format of informations and control synchronization between medias. And It is therefore need to provide a method and apparatus for synchroniztion control of multimedia objects which can control the conditional, temporal. and spatial synchronization in a MHEG engine developed to execute the functions defined as the international standards. In this paper. We propose to improved method and apparatus for synchronization control of multimedia objects which can execute the synchronized presentation by combining media data needed for presentation of multimedia information, and which enable the interactive processing between the user and the MHEG engine by allowing the user input to be processed during presentation.

Owing to the increase in consumption of multimedia content and the improvement of device capacity, user demand for high-quality content has increased. However, it is difficult to transport such large amounts of content over the existing broadcasting network with limited bandwidth. To provide high-definition broadcasting, some studies suggest methods of transporting multimedia over heterogeneous networks after encoding content hierarchically. MPEG Media Transport (MMT), standardized by Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG), is a solution that enables large-volume media transport over heterogeneous networks such as digital broadcasting networks and packet-switched networks. In the case of delivering a scalable encoded video over different networks, synchronization of each stream is an important issue. MMT defines a synchronization scheme, but does not contain sufficient functions to implement it. In this paper, we propose a synchronization scheme for media streams that are encoded hierarchically, divided into layers, and transported over heterogeneous networks. We implement our scheme using MMT and HTTP, and experimented using three encapsulated video streams with different durations. As a result, we show that the proposed scheme can reduce the waiting time to display high-quality video, relative to Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP-Scalable Video Coding (DASH-SVC) by requesting segments of enhanced layers after calculating the transmission time. Additionally, we find out that the selection of durations have a relation to the characteristics of the video.

When a single source of multimedia contents is distributed to multiple reproduction devices, the audio and video contents require synchronous play for multi-channel stereo sound and lip-synchronization. The multimedia system in vehicle, especially, has researched to move to wireless environments from legacy wired environments. This paper proposes the advanced algorithm for providing synchronized services of real-time multimedia traffic in IEEE 802.11 WLANs [1]. For these, we implement the advanced IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol [2] and the environments for simulation. Also, we estimate and analysis performance of the algorithm, then we experiment and analysis after the porting of algorithm in wireless LAN devices (Linksys wrt-350n AP network device) to characterize timing synchronization accuracy.

The necessity of IoT(Internet of Things) and Multimedia CSCW is described, and error control for multimedia CSCW(Computer Supported Cooperated Works) based on CoAP stack is suggested. This paper describes an error synchronization running on gateway software stack based CoAP. This system consists of an CS_EDA, and CS_ESA. CS_EDA is an agent that detects an error for multimedia distance system based on gateway software stack based CoAP environment. CS_ESA is an agent that is an error synchronization system for multimedia distance control based on gateway software stack based CoAP environment. From the perspective of multimedia collaborative environment of gateway software stack based CoAP, an error application becomes another interactive presentation error is synchronized with participants engaged in a cooperative work.

In the paper, we divide the ATM cells generated by multimedia systems that want to transmit multimedia informations over B-ISDN into two categories:i)a media cell with a media information and ii) a synchronization cell with a synchronization information. We induce a media cell loss equation and a synchroni- zation cell loss equation based on probability distribution functions with on-off source as an input traffic model. In order to meet the requirements of real-time and integrity of multimedia informations, multimedia synchronization cells should provide the delay-sensitive and the loss-sensitive requirements. A traffic control mechanism needs to satisfy above requirements. According to the performance evaluation by a traffic control model simulation, we describe both spatial priority for minimizing the synchronization cell loss and temporal priority for reducing the synchronization cell delay must be applied simultaneously.
