The multilayered $Pb_{1.1}(Zr_{0.4}Ti_{0.6})O_{3}$/$Pb_{1.1}(Zr_{0.6}Ti_{0.4})O_{3}/Pb_{1.1}(Zr_{0.4}Ti_{0.6})O_{3}$[PZT(4060)/(6040)/(4060)] thin films were deposited by RF sputtering method on the Pt/TiO2/SiO2/Si substrate. We investigated the effects of deposition conditions on the structural and electrical properties of the multilayered PZT thin films. All the multilayered PZT thin films showed dense and homogeneous structure without the presence of the rosette structure. The dielectric properties such as dielectric constant, loss, remanent polarization of the multilayered PZT thin film were superior to those of single composition PZT(4060) and PZT(6040) films, and those values for the multilayered PZT(10/20/10) thin film were 903, 1.01% and $25.60{\mu}C/cm^2$. This study suggests that the design of the multilayered PZT thin films capacitor with tetragonal and rhombohedral phase should be an effective method to enhance the dielectric and ferroelectric performance in devices.
The $Pb(Zr_{0.4}Ti_{0.6})O_3/Pb(Zr_{0.6}Ti_{0.4})O_3$ [PZT(4060)/(6040)] multilayered thin films were deposited by RF Sputtering method on the Pt/Ti/$SiO_2$/Si substrate. This procedure was repeated several times to form PZT(4060)/(6040) heterolayerd thin films. The effects on the structural and dielectric properties of PZT multilayered thin films were investigated. The MFM(Metal Ferroelectric Metal) type capacitors were made using the PZT(4060)/(6040) multilayered thin films deposited with optimum deposition condition. An enhanced dielectric property was observed in the PZT(4060)/(6040) multilayered thin films. The relative dielectric constant and dielectric loss at 100Hz of the PZT(4060)/(6040)-5 multilayered thin films were about 1106 and 0.016, respectively.

We present the results for the design ofantireflection (AR) coatings on facets of a multilayered structure waveguide device. The method, whose results agree very well with the reusults of the rigorous method in the case of a symmetric three layer structure deveice, is extended for the design of AR coatings on the facets of a multilayered structure waveguide device. the field profile in a multilayered structure waveguide necessary for the use of the extended method is obtained from the transfer matrix method. The virtual four layered structure method (VFLM) is proposed to reduce the time for the design ofAR coatings because the time for the design of AR coatings using the extended method increases as the number of layers increases. The optimum coating parameters and tolerance mapsfor two different six layered waveguide devices in Ref. [9] and [10] are obtained using the extendedmethod and the VFLM,and for the three different cases approximated as three layered waveguide devices to compare the results of each case. The results of the VFLM are similar to those of the extended methodcompared to those of the three layered structure waveguide. The main reason for the above results is that the field profile in the device calculated usingthe VFLM is similar to that calculated using the extended method compared to that for three layered structure wavegjide. We conclude that the extended method or VFLM should be used for the design of AR coatings on facets of a deice required for the facet reflectivity less than 10$^{-3}$ such as a semiconductor otical amplifier.
A modified Pagano method is developed for the three-dimensional (3D) free vibration analysis of simply-supported, multilayered functionally graded material (FGM) circular hollow cylinders with a constant rotational speed with respect to the meridional direction of the cylinders. The material properties of each FGM layer constituting the cylinders are regarded as heterogeneous through the thickness coordinate, and then specified to obey a power-law distribution of the volume fractions of the constituents, and the effects of centrifugal and Coriolis accelerations, as well as the initial hoop stress due to rotation, are considered. The Pagano method, which was developed for the static and dynamic analyses of multilayered composite plates, is modified in that a displacement-based formulation is replaced by a mixed formulation, the complex-valued solutions of the system equations are transferred to the real-valued solutions, a successive approximation method is adopted to extend its application to FGM cylinders, and a propagator matrix method is developed to reduce the time needed for its implementation. These modifications make the Pagano method feasible for multilayered FGM cylinders, and the computation in the implementation is independent of the total number of the layers, thus becoming less time-consuming than usual.
The mechanical responses of multilayered aluminum sheet fabricated by roll bonding, i.e., A1050/A3004 (65% A1050, 35% A3004 by thickness), were investigated via combined experiment and finite element (FE) analysis. The mechanical properties were measured using uniaxial tensile tests in various loading directions for the multilayered sheet. The corresponding tests for individual layers were also conducted. The testing samples were prepared by wire electro discharge machining (EDM). Stress-strain curves and Lankford coefficients of the multilayered sheet were then predicted by FE simulations. The measured mechanical properties of the individual layers were utilized as inputs for the simulation. Two yield functions, i.e., isotropic von-Mises and anisotropic non-quadratic Hill1948, were employed. Predicted results were compared with the experimental data and further discussed.

Multilayered CdTe/PSS films were prepared by the electrostatic self-assembly method in an aqueous medium. Positively-charged cadmium telluride (CdTe) nanoparticles and anionic polyelectrolyte, poly (sodium 4-styrene sulfonate) (PSS) were assembled alternately in order to build up a multilayered film structure. A linear proportion of absorbance to the number of bilayers suggests that an equal amount of CdTe was adsorbed after each dipping cycle, which resulted in the buildup of a homogenous film. The binding energies of elements (Cd and Te) in multilayered CdTe/PSS film shifted from those of the CdTe nanoparticles in the pure state. This result indicates that the interfacial electron densities were redistributed by the strong electrostatic interaction between the oppositely-charged CdTe and PSS. Electrochemical properties of the multilayered CdTe/PSS films were studied in detail by cyclic voltammetry (CV).
The main purpose of this paper is the numerical analysis of the non-linear seismic response of a RC building mock-up. The mock-up is subjected to different synthetic horizontal seismic excitations. The numerical approach is based on a 3D-model involving multilayered shell elements. These elements are composed of several single-layer membranes with various eccentricities. Bending effects are included through these eccentricities. Basic equations are first written for a single membrane element with its own eccentricity and then generalised to the multilayered shell element by superposition. The multilayered shell is considered as a classical shell element : all information about non-linear constitutive relations are investigated at the local scale of each layer, whereas balance and kinematics are checked afterwards at global scale. The non-linear dynamic response of the building is computed with Newmark algorithm. The numerical dynamic results (blind simulations) are considered in the linear and non linear cases and compared with experimental results from shaking table tests. Multilayered shell elements are found to be a promising tool for predictive computations of RC structures behaviour under 3D seismic loadings. This study was part of the CAMUS International Benchmark.

We present the peridynamic dynamic fracture analysis to solve impact fracturing of multilayered glass impacted by a high-velocity object. In the most practical multilayered glass structures, main layers are glued by thin elastic masking films. Thus, it is difficult and expensive to construct the numerical model for such a multilayered structure. In this paper, we employ efficient numerical modeling of multilayered structures with a nonlocal ghost interlayer model in which ghost particles are distributed between main layers and they are interacting with each other in peridynamic way. We also consider a simple nonlocal contact condition in peridynamic frameworks to solve impact and penetration of the high-velocity impactor to the multilayered structure. Finally we can confirm the fracture capabilities of the method using a multilayered glass model in which 7 glass layers and a single elastic backing layer are affixed by polyvinyl butyral films.

This paper presents computed frost penetration depths for a number of cross sections of multilayered system including insulation. Results of Modified Berggren method were compared with those of numerical analysis which is based on finite element method with phase change. For the homogeneous single layer medium, Modified Berggren method gives almost the same results as finite element based numerical method. For the multilayered systems with insulation, Modified Berggren method shows, however, inaccurate results compared with FEM results. Therefore numerical solution based on finite element or finite difference should be used in place of Modified Beggren method to estimate the frost penetration depth for the layered medium with insulation.
Polycrystalline $BaTiO_3/SrTiO_3$ powder was prepared by sol-gel process and the multilayered thick films were prepared on the $Al_2O_3$ substrates by screen printing method. The films were sintered at $1400^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours in the air. The structural and dielectric properties were investigated, The X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns indicate that the BST phase and porocity were formed in the interface of $BaTiO_3/SrTiO_3$ multilayered thick films. The dielectric constant and the dielectric loss of the BT/ST/BT/ST multilayered thick films were about 247 and 0.84% at 1MHz.
