  • We investigated the structural and electrical properties of the Ba ($Zr_{x}$ $T_{il-x}$ )$O_3$ (BZT thin films with a mole fraction of x=0.2 and thickness 150 nm for the application in MLCC (Multilayer Ceramic Capacitor). BZT films were prepared on $Pt/SiO_2$/Si substrate at various substrate temperatures by the RF-magnetron sputtering system. When the substrate temperature was above $500^{\circ}C$, we could obtain multi-crystalline BZT films oriented at (110), (111), and (200) directions. The crystallization of the film and high dielectric constant were observed with the increase of substrate temperature. Capacitance of the film deposited at high temperature is more sensitive to the applied voltage than that of the film deposited at low temperature. This paper reports surface morphology, dielectric constant, dissipation factor, and C-V characteristics for BZT films deposited at three different temperatures. The BZT film deposited at 40$0^{\circ}C$ shows stable electrical properties but a little small dielectric constant for MLCC application.

  • A compact radio frequency (RF) bandpass filter (BPF) in low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) is suggested for WiMAX applications. The center frequency ($f_0$) of the BPF is 5.5 GHz and its pass band or 3-dB bandwidth is 700 MHz to cover all the three major bands, low and middle unlicensed national information infrastructure (U-NII; 5.15-5.35 GHz), World Radiocommunication Conference (5.47-5.725 GHz), and upper U-NII/industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) (5.725-5.85 GHz), for the WiMAX frequency band. A lumped circuit element design-the 5th order capacitively coupled Chebyshev BPF topology-is adopted. In order to design a compact RF BPF, a very thin ($43.18{\mu}m$) ceramic layer is used in LTCC substrate. An interdigital BPF is also designed in silicon substrate to compare the size and performance of the lumped circuit element BPF. Due to the high relative dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}_r$ = 11.9) of the silicon substrate, the quarter-wavelength resonator of the interdigital BPF can be reduced. In comparison to the 5th order interdigital BPF at $f_0$ = 5.5 GHz, the lumped element design is 24% smaller in volume and has 17 and 7 dB better attenuation characteristics at $f_0{\pm}0.75$ GHz.

  • We separated the multilayer structure of CD-R(compact disk-recordable) and investigated optimal spot marking conditions and physical and chemical transitions in response to various laser beam energh levels. Spot marking(80 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ spot size) was produced on the surface of each layer using a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser between 27 mJ and 373mJ. By investigating resulting pit formation with Optical Microscopy(OM) and Optical Coherence Tomography(OCT), we analyzed the formation process of spot marking in the multilayer structure of different chemical composition. The localized heating of the substrate in the multilayer thin film caused the short temporal thermal expansion, and absorbed optical energy between reflective and dye interfaces melted dye and increased the volume. During the cooling phase, formation of pit and surrounding rim can be explained by three distinct processes; effect of surface tension, evaporation by spontaneous temperature increase due to laser energy, and mass flow from the recoil pressure. Our results shows that the spot marking formation process in the multilayer thin film is closely related to the layers' physical, chemical, and optical properties, such as surface tension, melt viscosity, layer thickness, and chemical composition.

  • We prepared Al doped ZnO/Ag/Al doped ZnO on the polymer substrate by Facing Target Sputtering (FTS). FTS featured Facing Target Sputtering featured that deposition is stable at the low pressure, it has high plasma density and suppresses the substrate damage from energetic particles. We fixed to 50nm up and down thickness of AZO layer, respectively and that of intermediate Ag layer was adjusted with deposition time. In the result, AZO/Ag/AZO multilayer thin films have much better electrical conductivity than AZO single layer thin film. As increasing the thickness of Ag layer, the transmittance decreased.

  • This study presents the fabrication process and display characteristics of a flexible organic polymer display device that consists of a thin substrate of Polyether Sulfone, a multilayer serpentine-type microheater array that is fabricated on the substrate, and a UV-sensitive polydiacetylene (PDA)-polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) composite film. A retention time of one second is achieved with cell sizes of $500{\mu}m$ and $700{\mu}m$ with cell-to-cell distances of $100{\mu}m$ and $200{\mu}m$, respectively.

  • Top-emitting organic light-emitting diode (TEOLED) was fabricated on flexible substrate of PES film. Aluminum and Chromium multilayer was used as an anode of TEOLED and the TEOLEDs of Cr(20nm)/Al(100nm)/Cr(20nm)/NPB(60nm)/Alq(60nm)/LiF(1nm)/Al(2nm)/Ag(20nm)/NPB(200nm) has been fabricated on PES film and Si wafer for control device. The TEOLED on PES film which had good anode surface morphology, showed very similar device characteristics to that on Si wafer.

  • The characteristics of hybrid conductive films based on multilayer graphene and silver grid have been investigated for the high-performance and flexible organic solar cells. The hybrid conductive films have been prepared on glass and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrates using conventional photolithography process and transfer process of graphene. The optical and electrical properties of prepared conductive films show transmittance of 87% at 550nm and sheet resistance of $28{\Omega}/square$. The electromechanical properties were also investigated in detail to confirm the flexibility of the hybrid films. OSCs have been fabricated on the hybrid conductive films based on graphene and silver grid on glass substrate. The power conversion efficiency of 2.38%, a fill factor of 51%, an open circuit voltage of 0.58V and a short circuit current of $8.05mA/cm^2$ were obtained from the device on glass substrate. The PCE was enhanced 11% compared with OSCs on the MLG films without silver grid.

  • A thin metal layer of molybdenum is placed between the conventional barrier layer and the stainless steel substrate for investigating the diffusion property of iron (Fe) atoms. In this study, the protection probability was confirmed by measuring the concentration of out-diffused Fe using a SIMS depth profile. The Fe concentration of chromium (Cr) barrier layer with 10 nm molybdenum (Mo) layer is 5 times lower than that of Cr barrier without the thin Mo layer. The insertion of a thin Mo metal layer between the barrier layer and the stainless steel substrate effectively protects the out-diffusion of Fe atoms.

  • The cordierite(2 MgO, $2Al_2O_3$, $5SiO_2$) is of great interest for microelectronic substrate of multilayer intergrated circuits. The metal used in this study was copper, and metal layer is fabricatedon the cordierite substrate by the screen printing method. We studied the adhesion properties of the interfaces due to the different cosintering conditions. When cosintering in the $Ar+H_2O$ gas, the adhesion is very good. Specially heating rate is very important factor for the adhesion.

  • Diamond-like carbon (DLC) films were deposited on silicon substrates by the plasma decomposition of hydrocarbons under various conditions, and studied by the spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE). We used the effective medium approximation with the dispersion model developed by Forouhi and Bloomer to determine simultaneously both the structure and the optical constants of the DLC films from their ellipsometric spectra. Especially, we investigated the variation of the multilayer structure including the interface layer, of the refractive indices, and of the extinction coefficients as the deposition conditions were varied; substrate pretreatment procedure, hydrocarbon precursors, and the substrate bias voltage were varied.
