한국과 미국 예비 유아교사의 다문화 관련 경험에 따른 다문화 이해 및 다문화교육 관련 특성에 대한 연구 (The Research on Multicultural Experiences Influence the Multicultural Understanding and Characteristics toward Multicultural Education of Early Childhood Preservice Teachers in Korea and the United States)

  • 본 연구는 한국과 미국의 예비 유아교사의 다문화 관련 경험에 따라 다문화교육의 이해, 다문화교육 인식과 태도 및 다문화교육 효능감에서 차이가 있는지를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 한국과 미국 대학에서 유아교육을 전공하고 있는 예비 유아교사 512명을 대상으로 질문지를 사용하여 다문화 관련 경험, 다문화 이해, 다문화교육에 대한 인식과 태도 및 다문화교육 효능감을 측정하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 미국의 예비 유아교사들이 한국의 예비유아교사들보다 다문화 관련 교과목 이수 경험, 다문화 가정 유아 경험, 해외 문화 경험, 다문화 가정학생 동분 수업 경험이 많은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 한국과 미국 양국 모두 다문화 경험의 유무에 따라 예비 유아교사들의 다문화에 대한 이해에 있어서 유의한 차이가 없었다. 셋째, 예비 유아교사의 다문화 관련 경험에 따른 다문화교육 관련특성은 다양하게 나타났다. 전체적으로 미국 예비교사의 경우 다문화 경험의 유무에 따라 다문화 교육에 대한 인식과 태도에 있어서 차이를 보이지 않았다. 한국예비교사의 경우, 다문화가정 학생과 동반 수업의 경험이 있을수록 다문화 교육에 대한 인식과 태도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 다문화 교육 효능감에 있어서는 미국 예비 교사들은 다문화 관련 경험에 따라 다문화 효능감에 있어서 차이가 없었으며 한국 예비 교사들은 다문화 관련 교과목을 이수한 예비 교사일수록 다문화교육에 대한 효능감이 높은 것으로 나타났다.

다문화부부의 부부교육 프로그램 요구도에 관한 연구 (Multicultural Couples' Needs of Marriage Education Programs)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the needs of marriage education programs for multicultural couples based on their socio-demographic characteristics. A total of 816 multicultural families (247 Korean husbands and 569 foreign wives) were recruited through 99 Multicultural Family Support Centers across Korea. Descriptive statistics and multiple regressions were conducted. The program needs that were relatively higher than other areas included the need to develop education on "understanding the culture and language of partner," "increased intimacy of the couple," "multicultural awareness," and "set goals for life." We also found that each participant's gender, foreign wife's country of origin, participant's education level, and marriage duration were significantly related to the needs of marriage education programs. These findings suggest that family life education for multicultural couples should be based on the characteristics of the program participants such as socio-demographic characteristics and family life cycle instead of providing a universal program for all multicultural couples.

유아교사의 행복감 및 교직에 대한 태도, 다문화교수변인이 다문화 교수활동에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Early Childhood Teachers' Happiness, Attitudes toward the Teaching Profession and Multicultural Variables on Multicultural Teaching Activities)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine differences in multicultural early childhood teaching activities according to the general characteristics of early childhood teachers, to analyze the relationships and effects of early childhood teachers' happiness, variables of attitudes toward the teaching profession, and variables of multicultural teaching, and ultimately to identify variables related to early childhood teachers that explain multicultural early childhood teaching activities. For this study, 270 teachers in charge of young children from multicultural families at early childhood education institutions were sampled. When the 'age' variable, which might affect multicultural teaching activities, was excluded and the relationships among early childhood teachers' variables as independent variables were analyzed, happiness and obsessive passion were found to have an effect on multicultural teaching activities. These findings suggest that early childhood teachers' happiness and passion for teaching needs to be enhanced as an effort to set the direction of multicultural education fit for the characteristics of Korea in the field of early childhood education, where the foundation of culture is laid and prejudices are easily formed.

The Development of Science Education Program Based on Culturally Responsive Teaching

  • The purpose of this study was to design a development frame for multicultural science program and develop a corresponding program using the frame. This study organized a development frame to design a multicultural science education program based on the culturally responsive teaching theory. This development frame consisted of the elements of purpose, teaching examples, teaching and learning methods, and assessment. This program consisted of the guideline for class teaching courses, reading materials, student worksheet, and teachers' reference materials. Based on this development frame, a multicultural science education program was developed, which was comprised of seven activities for elementary and middle school students. Each activity of the program included the concept and inquiry related to science education. In particular, by connecting the concept of science with the cultural characteristics of various countries, the activity made students aware of cultural diversity and the commonness of science principles. Compared to other subjects, the science education field has not actively undertaken studies on multicultural education. In term of dealing with universal principles, science education is suitable for making students aware of commonness. Accordingly, this gives rise to the need to draw cultural characteristics based on basic studies such as the analysis of science textbooks in various countries and develop culturally responsive programs utilizing the outcomes.

군 간부의 다문화교육경험이 다문화수용성에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Multicultural Education Experiences on the Multicultural Acceptability of Military Officers)

  • This research seeks to examine the relationship between multicultural education experiences and the multicultural acceptability of military officers. The sample included 552 Republic of Korea Army officers and non-commissioned officers(NCOs) who were located in Gangwon-Do and Gyeonggi-Do. For the statistical analysis, SPSS 18.0 was used to perform descriptive statistical analysis, frequency analysis, differential verification, and multiple regression analysis. The major analysis results are as follows: First, The multicultural acceptability of the military officers and NCOs, including sub-factors, was above the mean level; in terms of the ranking per sub-factor, the scores were in the order of diversity, relationship, and universality. The experience frequency of the targets and the evaluation was lowest in the educational experience within the military, and the evaluations were in the order of public media, school, and military. Second, The differential verification, depending on the characteristics of the sociology of the population and the existence of the multicultural educational experience, showed that the duration of education(personal factor), marital status(family factor), existence of a foreign relative(family factor), and existence of experience of managing multicultural personnel as soldiers under command(military-related factor) showed a significant difference in multicultural acceptability. Additionally, the existence of multicultural education through schools and public media lead to a significant difference in multicultural acceptability, but the existence of education within the military did not lead to a significant difference. Third, The analysis of the influencing relationship through multiple regression analysis showed that the higher the evaluation of multicultural education through the military, school, and public media, the higher the multicultural acceptability.Therefore, this research proposes multicultural educational plans that may improve the multicultural acceptability of military officers and NCOs as a way to establish a multicultural composition in the army.

다문화가족 자녀생활서비스 방문교육지도사의 직무만족도에 관한 연구: 개인 특성과 근무 특성 변인 중심으로 (Job Satisfaction of Visiting Supervisors for Multicultural Families in Charge of Childcare Services: Focusing on Personal and Job Characteristics)

  • This study was designed to investigate variables influencing the job satisfaction of visiting supervisors for multicultural families in charge of childcare services. It focused on personal characteristics including personal and job characteristics. The subjects in this study were 784 visiting supervisors for multicultural families in charge of childcare services in 140 multicultural family centers located across Korea. The job satisfaction of these visiting supervisors was measured using a self-administered questionnaire, and the collected data were analyzed using a frequency analysis, analysis of variance, and post hoc tests. The findings of this study were as follows: first, these visiting supervisors showed a relatively high level of job satisfaction. However, the job satisfaction subscales of treatment and salary were relatively low. Second, the results revealed significant differences in effects of the variables related to the personal characteristics of the visiting supervisors, such as their age, education level, and their major in college, on their total job satisfaction and subscales (job performance, treatment and salary, work ethic and aptitude). Finally, the results revealed significant differences in the effects of the variables related to the job characteristics of the visiting supervisors, such as their responsibilities, career, number of children to handle, and age of children to handle, on the total job satisfaction and subscales (treatment and salary, relationship with caregivers).

학령기 자녀를 둔 다문화가정의 가정생활경험과 생활만족도 (Family Life Experience and Life Satisfaction of Multicultural Families with School-Aged Children)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the general characteristics and the variety of family life experiences related to the life satisfaction of multicultural families with school-aged children. Data were drawn from the first wave of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey conducted in 2010 and developed by the National Youth Policy Institute. Further, the sample for this study consisted of 95 multicultural families who met the requirements. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, the t -test, analysis of variance, and multiple regression using SPSS ver. 18.0. The main results showed that family life experiences that were made up of 5 domains, specifically time, leisure, household economy, health, and child education had a broad range of levels. In addition, family life experiences differed according to the general characteristics of multicultural families with school-aged children, such as mother's employment status, number of children, father's employment status and education level, and family composition. Lastly, their life satisfaction was significantly predicted by the father's employment status and health, children's age, children's education, and leisure in the order of significance. These findings suggested the need to expand the social intervention range for multicultural families with school-aged children, particularly in terms of family leisure and children's school life adaptation.

다문화가족과 일반가족 청소년의 구강건강행태 비교 분석 (A comparative analysis of oral health behavior in adolescents between multicultural and ordinary Korean families)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to compare the oral health behavior in adolescents between multicultural and ordinary Korean families. Methods: The subjects were 66,797 adolescents who were derived from the web-based survey of the National 2014 Korean Youth Risk Behavior of Korean Center for Disease Control. A self-reported web-based questionnaire survey was carried out from June 1 to 30, 2013. A multicultural family is defined as the immigrant mother and child in the study. The variable included demographic, socioeconomic, and oral health related behavior. The demographic characteristics included sex, age, residence area, subjective academic achievement, type of family, education of parents, subjective economic status, and nationality before marriage. Data were analyzed by PASW statistics 18.0. Results: Tooth brushing frequency was closely related to family type, age, residence area, academic achievement, residential type, education level of the parents, and economic status. Conclusions: It is necessary to support oral health services and oral health promotion programs for the adolescents in the multicultural family.

우리나라 청소년의 가정배경에 따른 스케일링 경험 관련 요인 : 제18차 청소년건강행태온라인조사를 바탕으로 (Factors related to scaling experience among Korean youth according to their family background : the 18th Youth Health Behavior Survey (KYRBS))

  • Objectives: To investigate factors related to scaling between Korean and multicultural families using data from the 18th Youth Health Behavior Survey (KYRBS), 38,320 Korean adolescents were selected as subjects. Methods: A complex sample cross-analysis was conducted on general characteristics and oral health characteristics using the IBM SPSS program. Factors related to adolescent scaling were analyzed using complex sample logistic regression analysis. Results: Compared to Korean families, adolescents from multicultural families had 0.50 times less scaling experience within 12 months. Learning achievement was 1.30 times higher in high compared to low, indicating that scaling experience was high. In terms of economic status, scaling experience was found to be high at 1.50 times in high compared to low. Non-smoking adolescents had 1.26 times higher scaling experience. It was found that adolescents who do not use dental floss and interdental brushes have 0.71 and 0.55 times less scaling experience, respectively. Conclusions: Based on the above results, there is a need to increase adolescents awareness of oral health and motivate them to manage their own oral care. There is a need to provide opportunities to participate in various oral health education programs and to deepen continuous oral health education on oral disease prevention.

다문화 가정 어머니의 양육효능감 변화 양상에 따른 진로관련 행동 및 자녀의 심리사회적, 학업적 특성 차이 (Career-related Behaviors, Psychological and Academic Outcomes according to Parenting Efficacy Trajectories of Mothers in Multicultural Families)

  • 본 연구에서는 자녀가 초등학생에서 중학생으로 성장하는 과정(초4-중3)에서 다문화 가정 어머니의 양육효능감이 어떠한 형태로 변화하는지 확인하고, 확인된 잠재계층에 따라 고등학교 1학년 시기의 자녀가 지각한 어머니의 진로관련 행동, 자녀의 심리사회적, 학업적 특성에 차이가 있는지 확인하였다. 이를 위해 다문화청소년패널연구 7개년도 자료(초4-고1, 2011년-2017년)를 활용하였으며, 잠재계층성장분석, BCH 분석 방법을 사용하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 자녀가 초등학생에서 중학생으로 성장하는 과정(초4-중3)에서 다문화 가정 어머니의 양육효능감 변화 양상은 4개 잠재계층(상수준 증가-감소형, 중상수준 증가-감소형, 중수준 무변화, 중하수준 무변화)으로 구분될 수 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 확인된 잠재계층의 특징은 양육효능감 수준이 높은 집단의 경우 자녀가 초등학교 시기에는 양육효능감이 증가하지만, 중학교 시기에는 감소하는 반면, 양육효능감 수준이 낮은 집단의 경우 자녀가 성장하는 과정에서 양육효능감의 변화가 거의 없다는 것이다. 그리고 다문화 가정 어머니의 양육효능감 변화 양상에 따라 고등학교 1학년 시기의 진로관련 행동 및 자녀의 심리사회적, 학업적 특성에 차이가 있었으며, 대체로 상수준 증가-감소형 집단의 자녀가 지각한 진로관련 행동 수준이 높으며, 심리사회적(자아존중감, 우울, 진로장벽인식), 학업적(성취동기, 학업성취) 특성 또한 긍정적인 것으로 확인되었다. 본 연구는 자녀가 초등학생에서 중학생으로 성장하는 과정(초4-중3)에서 다문화 가정 어머니의 양육효능감을 높여주는 것이 고등학교 1학년 시기의 진로관련 양육행동 및 자녀의 심리사회적, 학업적 특성에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있음을 시사한다.
