MLR-tree : Spatial Indexing Method for Window Query of Multi-Level Geographic Data (MLR 트리 : 다중 레벨 지리정보 데이터의 윈도우 질의를 위한 공간 인덱싱 기법)

  • Multi-level geographic data can be mainpulated by a window query such as a zoom operation. In order to handle multi-level geographic data efficiently, a spatial indexing method supporting a window query is needed. However, the conventional spatial indexing methods are not efficient to access multi-level geographic data quickly. To solve it, other a few spatial indexing methods for multi-level geographic data are known. However these methods do not support all types of multi-level geographic data. This paper presents a new efficient spatial indexing method, the MLR-tree for window query of multi-level geographic data. The MLR-tree offers both high search performance and no data redundancy. Experiments show them. Moreover, the MLR-tree supports all types of multi-level geographic data.

RAG-based Image Segmentation Using Multiple Windows (RAG 기반 다중 창 영상 분할 (1))

  • This study proposes RAG (Region Adjancency Graph)-based image segmentation for large imagery in remote sensing. The proposed algorithm uses CN-chain linking for computational efficiency and multi-window operation of sliding structure for memory efficiency. Region-merging due to RAG is a process to find an edge of the best merge and update the graph according to the merge. The CN-chain linking constructs a chain of the closest neighbors and finds the edge for merging two adjacent regions. It makes the computation time increase as much as an exact multiple in the increasement of image size. An RNV (Regional Neighbor Vector) is used to update the RAG according to the change in image configuration due to merging at each step. The analysis of large images requires an enormous amount of computational memory. The proposed sliding multi-window operation with horizontal structure considerably the memory capacity required for the analysis and then make it possible to apply the RAG-based segmentation for very large images. In this study, the proposed algorithm has been extensively evaluated using simulated images and the results have shown its potentiality for the application of remotely-sensed imagery.

  • To improve the ship operation in automated container terminals, it is important to schedule different types of handling equipment to operate synchronously. For example, a vehicle with container receiving and lifting capabilities is used to transport containers from a storage yard to a vessel and vice versa, while a triple quay crane (QC) can handle up to three 40-ft containers simultaneously. This paper discusses the manner in which vehicles should be assigned to containers to support such multi-lifts of QCs by using information about the locations and times of deliveries. A mixed-integer programming model is introduced to optimally assign delivery tasks to vehicles. This model considers the constraint imposed by the limited buffer space under each QC. A procedure for converting buffer-space constraints into time window constraints and a heuristic algorithmfor overcoming the excessive computational time required for solving the mathematical model are suggested. A numerical experiment is conducted to compare the objective values and computational times of the heuristic algorithm with those of the optimizing method to evaluate the performance of the heuristic algorithm.

  • This study propose a image processing system of unsupervised analysis. This system integrates low-level segmentation and high-level classification. The segmentation and classification are conducted respectively with and without spatial constraints on merging by a hierarchical clustering procedure. The clustering utilizes the local mutually closest neighbors and multi-window operation of a pyramid-like structure. The proposed system has been evaluated using simulated images and applied for the LANDSATETM+ image collected from Youngin-Nungpyung area on the Korean Peninsula.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose a procedure that will be able to find the most efficient sets of weight coefficients for the Geum-River basin in Korea. The result obtained from multi-objective optimization model is inherently sensitive to the weight coefficient on each objective. In multi-objective reservoir operation problems, the coefficient setting may be more complicated because of the natural variation of inflow. Therefore, for multi-objective reservoir operation problems, it may be important for modelers to provide reservoir operators with appropriate sets of weight coefficients considering the inflow variation. This study presents a procedure to find an appropriate set of weight coefficients under the situation that has inflow variation. The proposed procedure uses GA-CoMOM to provide a set of weight coefficient sets. A DEA-window analysis and a cross efficiency analysis are then performed in order to evaluate and rank the sets of weight coefficients for various inflow scenarios. This proposed procedure might be able to find the most efficient sets of weight coefficients for the Geum-River basin in Korea.

A Study for Solving Multi-Depot Dial-a-Ride Problem Considering Soft Time Window (다수차고지와 예약시간 위반을 고려한 교통약자 차량 서비스에 대한 연구)

  • Dial-a-ride is the most widely available transit service for disabled persons or seniors in the United States and Europe. This paper studies a static dial-a-ride problem considering multiple depots, heterogeneous vehicles, and soft time windows. In this paper, we apply a heuristic based on clustering first-routing second(HCR) to a real-world large dial-a-ride problem from Maryland Transit Administration(MTA). MTA's real operation is compared with the results of developed heuristic for 24 cases. The objective function of the proposed model is to minimize the total cost composed of the service provider's cost and the customers' inconvenience cost. For the comparison, the objective function values of HCR do not include waiting cost, delay cost, and excess ride cost. The objective function values from HCR are better than those from MTA's operation for all cases. This result shows that our heuristic method can make the real operation better and more efficient.

  • In the recent day, fatigue life prediction techniques play a major role in the design of components in th ground vehicle industry. Full scale durability testing in the laboratory is an essential of any fatigue life evaluation of components or structure of the automotive vehicle. Component testing is particularly important in today's highly competitive industries where the design to reduce weight and production costs must be balanced with the necessity to avoid expensive service failure. Generally, multi-axis durability testing simulator is used to car교 out the fatigue test. In this paper, the operation software for simultaneously driving 3-axis simulator is developed and the real-time signals of input-output data are displayed in window of PC. Moreover, the displacements and the loads of 3-axis actuators are calibrated separately and the operating characteristics of the actuators are evaluated.

Generally, Hydraulic road simulator is used to carry out the fatigue test and the vibration test. In this paper, the algorithm and software to realize the real road profile are developed. The operation software for simultaneously controlled multi-axial simulator is developed and the input and output data are displayed window based PC controller in real time. The software to generate the real road profile are developed. This paper developed a road profile reappearance software and simultaneously apply 3-axial actuator to white noise, so we verified the propriety of reappearance software through accomplishes an real test.

  • Due to the extremely short pulse in the Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology, the accurate synchronization acquisition method is very important for both high data-rate WPAN and low data-rate WPAN. In this paper, we propose the synchronization acquisition algorithm based on two-step signal search method to acquire the synchronization in the UWB multi-path channel. At the first step, the search window is divided by two and the window that has higher power is chosen as a next search window. This operation is repeated until the measure power of the search window is smaller than the threshold value. At the second step, we employ Linear Search algorithm to the search window obtained at the first step for fine search. The proposed algorithm is proved that the synchronization acquisition is faster than the parallel search algorithm and it shows good performance in environment of the SNR extreme changes by the simulation.

  • In this study, we fabricated the engineered $SiO_2/Si_3N_4/SiO_2$(ONO) tunnel barrier with high-k $HfO_2$ trapping layer for application high performance flash MLC(Multi Level Cell). As a result, memory device show low operation voltage and stable memory characteristics with large memory window. Therefore, the engineered tunnel barrier with ONO stacks were useful structure would be effective method for high-integrated MLC memory applications.
