  • In this paper, we present a robust beamforming design to tackle the weighted sum-rate maximization (WSRM) problem in a multicell multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) - non-orthogonal multipleaccess (NOMA) downlink system for 5G wireless communications. This work consider the imperfectchannel state information (CSI) at the base station (BS) by adding uncertainties to channel estimation matrices as the worst-case model i.e., singular value uncertainty model (SVUM). With this observation, the WSRM problem is formulated subject to the transmit power constraints at the BS. The objective problem is known as on-deterministic polynomial (NP) problem which is difficult to solve. We propose an robust beam forming design which establishes on majorization minimization (MM) technique to find the optimal transmit beam forming matrix, as well as efficiently solve the objective problem. In addition, we also propose a joint user clustering and power allocation (JUCPA) algorithm in which the best user pair is selected as a cluster to attain a higher sum-rate. Extensive numerical results are provided to show that the proposed robust beamforming design together with the proposed JUCPA algorithm significantly increases the performance in term of sum-rate as compared with the existing NOMA schemes and the conventional orthogonal multiple access (OMA) scheme.

  • In this article, the uplink achievable rate is investigated for massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) under correlated Ricean fading channel, where each base station (BS) and user are both deployed multiple antennas. Considering the availability of prior knowledge at BS, two different channel estimation approaches are adopted with and without prior knowledge. Based on these channel estimations, a two-layer decoding scheme is adopted with maximum ratio precoding as the first layer decoder and optimal second layer precoding in the second layer. Based on two aforementioned channel estimations and two-layer decoding scheme, the exact closed form expressions for uplink achievable rates are computed with and without prior knowledge, respectively. These derived expressions enable us to analyze the impacts of line-of-sight (LoS) component, two-layer decoding, data transmit power, pilot contamination, and spatially correlated Ricean fading. Then, numerical results illustrate that the system with spatially correlated Ricean fading channel is superior in terms of uplink achievable rate. Besides, it reveals that compared with the single-layer decoding, the two-layer decoding scheme can significantly improve the uplink achievable rate performance.

  • In this paper, we develop an interference neutralization (IN) method based on a set of multi-antenna relays for K-user interference channel. The feasibility condition for IN is fully characterized. We further provide a relaxed IN method for the cases in which there are not enough relays to satisfy the feasibility condition.

  • Coordinated multi-point transmission is a candidate technique for next-generation cellular communications systems. We consider a system with multiple cells in which base stations coordinate with each other by sharing user channel state information, which mitigates inter-cell interference (ICI), especially for users located at the cell edge. We introduce a new user scheduling method that considers both ICI and intra-cell orthogonality. Due to the influence of ICI cancellation and the loss reduction of effective channel gain during the beamforming process, the proposed method improves the system sum rate, when compared to the conventional method, by an average of 0.55bps/Hz for different numbers of total users per cell.

  • This paper proposes a unified medium access control (MAC) design methodology and presents the implementation of the IEEE 802.11ac down-link multi-user multi-input and multi-output wireless local area network MAC using the proposed design methodology. The proposed methodology employs unified code for both network simulation and system implementation. Because the unified code closely relates these two processes, the performance of the implemented MAC system can be estimated before implementation. The MAC architecture for an access point implemented using the proposed design methodology is verified on an ARM-based platform, and it is applied to a 65 nm CMOS library.

  • In this paper, we study a power allocation technique for Tomlinson-Harashima precoding (THP) in multi-user multiple input single output (MISO) downlink systems. In contrast to previous approaches, a mutual information based method is exploited for maximizing the sum rate of zero-forcing THP systems. Then, we propose a simple power allocation algorithm which assigns proper power level for modulo operated users. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms a conventional water-filling method, and it provides similar performance with near optimal method with much reduced complexity.

  • The rapid development of mobile communication not only has made the industry gradually diversified, but also has enhanced the service quality requirements of users. In this regard, it is imperative to consider jointly network slicing and mobile edge computing. The former mainly ensures the requirements of varied vertical services preferably, and the latter solves the conflict between the user's own energy and harsh latency. At present, the integration of the two faces many challenges and need to carry out at different levels. The main target of the paper is to minimize the energy consumption of the system, and introduce a multi-slice joint task offloading and resource allocation scheme for massive multiple input multiple output enabled heterogeneous networks. The problem is formulated by collaborative optimizing offloading ratios, user association, transmission power and resource slicing, while being limited by the dissimilar latency and rate of multi-slice. To solve it, assign the optimal problem to two sub-problems of offloading decision and resource allocation, then solve them separately by exploiting the alternative optimization technique and Karush-Kuhn-Tucker conditions. Finally, a novel slices task offloading and resource allocation algorithm is proposed to get the offloading and resource allocation strategies. Numerous simulation results manifest that the proposed scheme has certain feasibility and effectiveness, and its performance is better than the other baseline scheme.

  • Under the maximum transmit power constraint and the minimum rate constraint, we propose the optimal number of transmit antennas and transmit power which maximize energy-efficiency (EE) in multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) downlink system with the maximal ratio transmission (MRT) precoding. Because the optimization problem for the instantaneous channel is difficult to solve, we use independence of individual channel, average channel gain and path loss to approximate the objective function. Since the approximated EE optimization problem is two-dimensional search problem, we find the optimal number of transmit antennas and transmit power using Lagrange multipliers and our proposed algorithm. Simulation results show that the number of transmit antennas and power obtained by proposed algorithm are almost identical to the value by the exhaustive search.

  • The study on interference channel is very important information theoretically and many studies have been done on it. However, even in the simplest case, even in the case of two user interfering channels, the channel capacity is not yet known except in special cases. Recently, research on the multiplexing gain that shows the tendency of the transmission rate in the high signal to noise ratio (SNR) band has been actively carried out, instead of accurately grasping the channel capacity. Obtaining optimal multiplexing gain can reveal trends in channel capacity at high signal-to-noise ratio bands. In an interfering channel with two users, the best multiplexing gain can be obtained by eliminating the interference. However, recent research shows that when the number of users is more than three, the optimal multiplexing gain can not be obtained only by zero forcing and a new technique called interference sorting is needed. There are two types of interference sorting techniques. Beamforming A method of effectively separating signals and interference by properly selecting matrices and constructing structured codes using rational numbers and irrational numbers. The interference alignment technique can achieve optimal multiplexing gain in various environments such as interference channel, X channel, compound broadcast channel, and multi hop network for multi source multi destination. In recent years, it has also been applied to distributed storage. • This study develops a control algorithm on berthing/unberthing system using a joystick for ships with thrusters and a rudder. A nonlinear mathematical model for low speed maneuvering of typical container ships is used to develop a MIMO(multi-input multi-output) nonlinear control algorithm for velocity feedback joystick control. Also a virtual HILS(hardware in the loop simulation) software program for berthing/unberthing is developed to test the performance of the nonlinear and a PID control algorithm. The program is developed using LabWindow/CVI, and a user can see current position and desired trajectory of ship in a monitor, then he can control forward and yaw velocities of a ship using a joystick. The simulation results show that the nonlinear mfd the PID controller have superior performance over a simple open loop joystick control algorithm.
