Energy-efficient task scheduling on multi-core server is a fundamental issue in green cloud computing. Multi-core processors are widely used in mobile devices, personal computers, and servers. Existing energy efficient task scheduling methods chiefly focus on reducing the energy consumption of the processor itself, and assume that the cores of the processor are controlled independently. However, the cores of some processors in the market are divided into several voltage islands, in each of which the cores must operate on the same status, and the cost of the server includes not only energy cost of the processor but also the energy of other components of the server and the cost of user waiting time. In this paper, we propose a cost-aware scheduling algorithm ICAS for computation intensive tasks on multi-core server. Tasks are first allocated to cores, and optimal frequency of each core is computed, and the frequency of each voltage island is finally determined. The experiments' results show the cost of ICAS is much lower than the existing method.

Developing Magnetoencephalography (MEG) based on Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID) facilitates to observe the human brain functions in non-invasively and high temporal and high spatial resolution. By using this MEG, we studied alpha rhythm (8-13 Hz) that is one of the most predominant spontaneous rhythm in human brain. The 8-13 Hz rhythm is observed in several sensory region in the brain. In visual related region of occipital, we call to alpha rhythm, and auditory related region of temporal call to tau rhythm, sensorimotor related region of parietal call to mu rhythm. These rhythms are decreased in task related region and increased in task irrelevant regions. This means that these rhythms play a pivotal role of inhibition in task irrelevant region. It may be helpful to attention to the task. In several literature about the alpha-band inhibition in multi-sensory modality experiment, they observed this effect in the occipital and somatosensory region. In this study, we hypothesized that we can also observe the alpha-band inhibition in the auditory cortex, mediated by the tau rhythm. Before that, we first investigated the existence of the alpha and tau rhythm in occipital and temporal region, respectively. To see these rhythms, we applied the visual and auditory stimulation, in turns, suppressed in task relevant regions, respectively.

In this paper, we propose new depth estimation and intermediate view synthesis algorithms for three-dimensional video generation. In order to improve temporal consistency of the depth map sequence, we add a temporal weighting function to the conventional matching function when we compute the matching cost for estimating the depth information. In addition, we propose a boundary noise removal method in the view synthesis operation. after finding boundary noise areas using the depth map, we replace them with corresponding texture information from the other reference image. Experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm improved temporal consistency of the depth sequence and reduced flickering artifacts in the virtual view. It also improved visual quality of the synthesized virtual views by removing the boundary noise.

In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm to automatically generate an RTP timestamp value that is required for the RTP packetization in order to transmit SVC video over various If networks such as Internet. Unlike the conventional single layer coding algorithms such as H.263, MPEG-4 and H.264, SVC generates a multi-layered single bitstream which is composed of a base layer and one or more enhancement layers in order to simultaneously provide temporal, spatial, and SNR scalability. Especially, in order to provide temporal scalability based on hierarchical B-picture prediction structure, the encoding (or transmission) and display order of pictures in SVC coding is completely decoupled. Thus, the timestamp value to be specified at the header of each RTP packet in video transmission does not increase monotonically according to the display time instant of each picture. Until now, no method for automatically generating an RTP timestamp when SVC video is loaded in a RTP packet has teen introduced. In this paper, a novel automatic RTP timestamp generation method exploiting the TID (temporal ID) field of the SVC NAL unit header is proposed to accommodate the SVC video transmission.
This study performed a multi-classification task to classify mesial temporal lobe epilepsy with left hippocampal sclerosis patients (left mTLE), mesial temporal lobe epilepsy with right hippocampal sclerosis (right mTLE), and healthy controls (HC) using magnetoencephalography (MEG) data. We applied various artificial neural networks and compared the results. As a result of modeling with convolutional neural networks (CNN), recurrent neural networks (RNN), and graph neural networks (GNN), the average k-fold accuracy was excellent in the order of CNN-based model, GNN-based model, and RNN-based model. The wall time was excellent in the order of RNN-based model, GNN-based model, and CNN-based model. The graph neural network, which shows good figures in accuracy, performance, and time, and has excellent scalability of network data, is the most suitable model for brain research in the future.

Remote Sensing has been very useful tool in monitoring of cities and updating of GIS database compare to traditional methods due to its benefit; wide range covering on low cost and advanced data collection. However it had come to a limited method in limited researches because of its relatively poor spatial resolution in scanning. Recently launched satellites are able to produce improved imageries, and new commercial services have been commenced for the use of general public with higher spatial resolution up to $1m{\times}1m$. This study tackled a potential use of these improved satellite imageries in urban planning based on the Multi-temporal satellite imagery with particular reference to monitoring on urban areas, for example urbanization and its expanding. i) Portion of individual features and elements in each pixel of satellite imagery was computed based on 'Endmember' of targeted elements. ii) Urbanized areas were categorized based on the 'Fraction imagery' derived from the 'SMA algorithm'. iii) Alterations and expanding of urban areas were identified based on the Multi-temporal satellite imageries. Tested method showed a strong potential to produce more advanced monitoring skills of urban areas.

Multi-temporal high resolution satellite images are essential data for efficient city analysis and monitoring. Yet even when acquired from the same location, identical sensors as well as different sensors, these multi-temporal images have a geometric inconsistency. Matching points between images, therefore, must be extracted to match the images. With images of an urban area, however, it is difficult to extract matching points accurately because buildings, trees, bridges, and other artificial objects cause shadows over a wide area, which have different intensities and directions in multi-temporal images. In this study, we analyze a shadow effect on image matching of high resolution satellite images in urban area using Scale-Invariant Feature Transform(SIFT), the representative matching points extraction method, and automatic shadow extraction method. The shadow segments are extracted using spatial and spectral attributes derived from the image segmentation. Also, we consider information of shadow adjacency with the building edge buffer. SIFT matching points extracted from shadow segments are eliminated from matching point pairs and then image matching is performed. Finally, we evaluate the quality of matching points and image matching results, visually and quantitatively, for the analysis of shadow effect on image matching of high resolution satellite image.

It is necessary to normalize spectral image values derived from multi-temporal satellite data to a common scale in order to apply remote sensing methods for change detection, disaster mapping, crop monitoring and etc. There are two main approaches: absolute radiometric normalization and relative radiometric normalization. This study focuses on the multi-temporal satellite image processing by the use of relative radiometric normalization. Three scenes of KOMPSAT-2 imagery were processed using the Multivariate Alteration Detection(MAD) method, which has a particular advantage of selecting PIFs(Pseudo Invariant Features) automatically by canonical correlation analysis. The scenes were then applied to detect disaster areas over Sendai, Japan, which was hit by a tsunami on 11 March 2011. The case study showed that the automatic extraction of changed areas after the tsunami using relatively normalized satellite data via the MAD method was done within a high accuracy level. In addition, the relative normalization of multi-temporal satellite imagery produced better results to rapidly map disaster-affected areas with an increased confidence level.
This study aims to produce land-cover maps of Korean peninsula using multi-temporal MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) imagery. To solve the low spatial resolution of MODIS data and enhance classification accuracy, Linear Spectral Mixture Analysis (LSMA) was employed. LSMA allowed to determine the fraction of each surface type in a pixel and develop vegetation, soil and water fraction images. To eliminate clouds, MVC (Maximum Value Composite) was utilized for vegetation fraction and MinVC (Minimum Value Composite) for soil fraction image respectively. With these images, using ISODATA unsupervised classifier, southern part of Korean peninsula was classified to low and mid level land-cover classes. The results showed that vegetation and soil fraction images reflected phenological characteristics of Korean peninsula. Paddy fields and forest could be easily detected in spring and summer data of the entire peninsula and arable land in North Korea. Secondly, in low level land-cover classification, overall accuracy was 79.94% and Kappa value was 0.70. Classification accuracy of forest (88.12%) and paddy field (85.45%) was higher than that of barren land (60.71%) and grassland (57.14%). In midlevel classification, forest class was sub-divided into deciduous and conifers and field class was sub-divided into paddy and field classes. In mid level, overall accuracy was 82.02% and Kappa value was 0.6986. Classification accuracy of deciduous (86.96%) and paddy (85.38%) were higher than that of conifers (62.50%) and field (77.08%).

The aim of this study is to propose a fine co-registration approach for multi-temporal satellite images acquired from RapidEye, which has an advantage of availability for time-series analysis. To this end, we generate multitemporal ortho-rectified images using RPCs (Rational Polynomial Coefficients) provided with RapidEye images and then perform fine co-registration between the ortho-rectified images. A DEM (Digital Elevation Model) extracted from the digital map was used to generate the ortho-rectified images, and the RNCC (Registration Noise Cross Correlation) was applied to conduct the fine co-registration. Experiments were carried out using 4 RapidEye 1B images obtained from May 2015 to November 2016 over the Yeonggwang area. All 5 bands (blue, green, red, red edge, and near-infrared) that RapidEye provided were used to carry out the fine co-registration to show their possibility of being applicable for the co-registration. Experimental results showed that all the bands of RapidEye images could be co-registered with each other and the geometric alignment between images was qualitatively/quantitatively improved. Especially, it was confirmed that stable registration results were obtained by using the red and red edge bands, irrespective of the seasonal differences in the image acquisition.
