The Nanji landfill is one of the biggest uncontrolled landfill in terms of its size and scale in the world. Because the landfill was constructed on the very vulnerable alluvial deposit installing no pollution control systems such as bottom liner and leachate collection systems, it has caused a serious adverse effect to near-by groundwater and surface water systems. A through remedial investigation comprising plume detection and site-characterization was performed to design the remedial measure. As a part the investigation, comprehensive water quality study was conducted, using ten existing observation wells and one bundle type monitoring well, to determine the contaminant indicators for the plume delineation and to define the vertical and horizontal variation of specific contaminants via distances from the landfill. The results clearly shows that EC and temperature are a good pollution indicators and the vertical concentrations of specific contaminants measured in the fully screened wells are 20 to 90% more than those measured at the same depth in bundle type well which is located just 2 m apart. This paper presents a cost effective monitoring and sampling method to define the contaminant plume and obtain a basic data for leachate control measures.

Recently, estuary reserovoirs have been actively constructed in Korea and also in Japan there are a large number of estuary reservoirs constructed. But most of the estuary reservoirs are located at the downstream of a river where geographical condition is best for the construction of an enclosing dam. And an effective utilization of water from the estuary reservoir seems to be difficult even if estuary reservoirs are considered to be the water resources the most available for their watershed. Studies on estuary reservoirs so far have been mainly concentrated on the physical and engineering problems of the dam construction itself. The purpose of the present study is to review the estuary reservoir planning in connection with the water resources development and to study a basis of the planning. First, the levels of water use in Korea and Japan were compared with those of other countries in the world. And then, some representative reservoirs were selected to study the roles of a reservoir and water-using conditions in the watershed. Based on the study, a survey was given on the relation between a dam construction upstream and an estuary reservoir construction downstream of a river. Finally, a comprehensive examination was made of the bases of estuary reservoir planning. (1) The estuary reservoir planning is deeply related to the plan for water use develo- pment in the watershed. After the upstream water resources were fully developed up to the most, water reso- urces development by an estuary reservoir should be started. (2) If an estuary lake has a capacity big enough, it can store flood discharge of the watershed without any loss and become a basic facility that will bring about the maxi- mum use of water from the watershed. (3) Estuary reservoirs store water used in the upstream watershed, so recycling of water use is attained by the reservoir. Water in the estuary lake is difficult to be fresh water in its long run. Therefore, estuary reservoir should be located at a place where polluted water is purified and refused. All the planning should be based on the assumption that water in the estuary lake is not fresh but polluted after a long time. (4) The estuary lake can only supply water to the lower basin directly. But the upstream area is benefited from the estuary lake by exchange of irrigation water sources between the lower and the upper area. So a large-scale exchange plan between new and existing water resources is important. By constructing estuary reservoirs and the exchange of water sources between upper and lower areas, the reasonable maximum use of water from the whole watershed is at- tained. (5) The big problem coming from the water resources development by an enclosing estuary is salt water intrusion into the lake. To maintain the estuary lake salt-free, multi-purpose use of the lake should be avoided. It is necessary to take such fundamental measures as abolition of back flow operation of gate, and the closing of the fish port and the fish ladder. The results mentioned above were found in this study and these results of this study could be used for the adequate planning of estuary reservoirs in connection with the maximum water use of the watershed.

The APEX model has been developed for assessing agricultural management efforts and their effects on soil and water at the field scale as well as more complex multi-subarea landscapes, whole farms, and watersheds. Recently, a key component of APEX application, named APEX-Paddy, has been modified for simulating water quality by considering paddy rice management practices. In this study, the performance of the APEX-Paddy model was evaluated using field data at Iksan experimental paddy sites in Korea. The discharge and pollutant load data during 2013 and 2014 were used to both manually and automatically calibrate the model. The APEX auto-calibration tool (APEX-CUTE 4.1) was used for model calibration and sensitivity analysis. Results indicate that APEX-Paddy reasonably performs in predicting runoff discharge rate and nitrogen yield. However, sediment and phosphorus yield is not correctly predicted due to the limitation of model schemes. With APEX-Paddy, the performance in reproducing the discharge and nitrogen yield is found to be a satisfactory level after manual calibration. The manually calibrated model performed better than the automatically calibrated model in nearly all comparisons. For runoff, manual calibration reduced PBIAS while R2 and NSE values of the automatically calibrated model were the same as the manual calibration. For T-N, NSE and PBIAS were reduced when using manual calibration, whereas R2 value was the same as manual calibration. The limitation of the APEX-Paddy model for predicting sediment, as well as the phosphorous yield, was discussed in this study.
In case that group communication protocols assume every process is interested in all events occurring in a large scale group, the events multicasting to a subset of a large process group, such as a sensor network, potentially varying for every event based on their interests might lead to very high communication overhead on each individual process. Moreover, despite the importance of both guaranteeing message delivery order and supporting overlapped group using gossip based group communication for multicasting in sensor or P2P networks, there exist little research works on development of gossip-based protocols to satisfy all these requirements. In this paper, we present a new gossip-based causal message order guaranteeing multicast protocol based on local views and delegates representing subgroups and fully utilizing multi-group features to improve scalability. In the proposed protocol, the message delivery order in overlapped groups has been guaranteed consistently by all corresponding members of the groups including delegates. Therefore, these features of the proposed protocol might be significantly scalable rather than those of the protocols guaranteeing atomic order dependencies between multicast messages by hierarchical membership list of dedicated groups like traditional committee protocols and much stronger rather than fully decentralized protocols guaranteeing dependencies between multicast messages based on only local views. And the proposed protocol is a hybrid approach improving the inherent scalability of multicast nature by gossip-based technique in all communications.

The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) is the multi-lateral 'cap and trade' system endorsed by the Kyoto Protocol. CDM allows developed (Annex I) countries to buy CER credits from New and Renewable (NE) projects of non-Annex countries, to meet their carbon reduction requirements. This in effect subsidizes and promotes NE projects in developing countries, ultimately reducing global greenhouse gases (GHG). To be registered as a CDM project, the project must prove 'additionality,' which depends on numerous factors including the adopted technology, baseline methodology, emission reductions, and the project's internal rate of return. This makes it difficult to determine ex ante a project's acceptance as a CDM approved project, and entails sunk costs and even project cancellation to its project stakeholders. Focusing on hydro power projects and employing UNFCCC public data, this research developed a prediction model using logistic regression and CART to determine the likelihood of approval as a CDM project. The AUC for the logistic regression and CART model was 0.7674 and 0.7231 respectively, which proves the model's prediction accuracy. More importantly, results indicate that the emission reduction amount, MW per hour, investment/Emission as crucial variables, whereas the baseline methodology and technology types were insignificant. This demonstrates that at least for hydro power projects, the specific technology is not as important as the amount of emission reductions and relatively small scale projects and investment to carbon reduction ratios.
This study compares the visual elements of the top five global beer brands currently in the Chinese market with those of the top five Chinese beer brands. The purpose of the research is to identify the importance of visual elements in the label design of beer package and to present the direction of efficient label design. To this end, it is a brand among visual elements of beer label design, and it investigates the label design of Chinese beer and global beer brand through the multi-accelerated comparative analysis method, focusing on color, illustration and layout, and analyzes the difference of elements appearing in the global beer label design from China by utilizing the recursive five-point scale. According to the research, the visual elements used in the Chinese beer brand were more complex compared to the global beer brand, and most layouts were similar, making the product less differentiated. On the other hand, the global beer brand has secured brand identity and differentiation based on its iconic visual elements and diversity of layout. In order to establish itself as a strong brand in consumers' minds, the Chinese beer brand needs differentiated label design through active use of unique brand design.

Safety accidents, called industrial accidents in construction work, are causing a lot of casualties, property damage and social controversy in the event of an accident, causing the construction to lose public confidence. The risk of safety accidents at construction sites may continue to increase as the construction of high-rise, large-scale, and multi-purpose complex buildings has increased in recent years. In particular, the most frequently constructed apartment construction among reinforced concrete buildings is designed and constructed with a wall-like structure with no beams for each floor, while the lower floors are made of lamen with columns and beams. As a result, the transfer beam or transfer slab to withstand the upper load is installed on the upper part of the Ramen structure, so the system Dongbari, which is installed as a temporary material during concrete laying construction, may collapse at any time during plowing and curing. The purpose of this study is to apply IT convergence technology to prevent the collapse of the system Dongbari during concrete installation, and to apply many of the variables that may occur during construction on a case-by-case basis to check the stability of the system Dongbari and to propose a model of the anti-conducting prediction system.

Although the efficient formation of urban space structure is a key factor in energy saving and environmentally-friendly aspect, the maintenance of the center and sub-center of the city that are key factors has been becoming increasingly difficult due to the variability and complexity of urban activities. In the case of Busan, amid the expansion of urban scale due to rapid economic development and overpopulation, systematic approaches to professional diagnosis and maintenance have been significantly insufficient - other than the city basic plan which has been conducted at an interval of 20 years. For the effective management of urban central area, systematic monitoring of the CBD through demand forecast and blight forecast at a city level must first be implemented. In order to fulfill this goal, this study is to figure out the current state of the CBD through the diagnosis on blight of the urban central area in the viewpoint of rehabilitation of the CBD and to propose the measures for practical utilization of the information about space for the further management of the central area of the city. For analysis, the study looks into the present state in terms of physical index, economic index, and social index. And then as a micro-approach by utilizing economic index, the study has thoroughly examined the economic blight of the Seomyun urban central area of Busan. The outcome of the analysis shows that in terms of population distribution and land utilization the area is in the stage of inefficient dispersion after having gone through the stage of suburbanization. It is expected that this study, as the material that proves the necessity of enhancing the function of the CBD, can propose the direction for the management of the urban center of Busan through blight prediction and management of the urban center and can provide the basic data for the long-term urban development that aims at the efficient strengthening of functions of the CBD.

The spice combinations for substitute of salty taste were developed for reducing sodium intakes in home cooking. The seventeen materials, which have been known as remedy effects for hypertension, were collected and blended based on descriptive sensory evaluation and principal component analysis. Four types of spice combinations such as nutty, umami and salty, hot and sour, and multi attribute were developed as substitutes of salty taste. The developed spice combinations were applied to mackerel meat instead of salt. Consumer acceptance of mackerel meat with spice combinations was analyzed using hedonic nine point scale by 54 panelists. As the sensory evaluation results, the consumer acceptance value of the spice combinations for substitute of salty taste with hot and sour attribute was the highest value as 6.4, whereas that of the salt was 3.1. Also, the fish and rancid flavor were the lower values in the salt free spice blends than those of salt. The spice combinations for substitute of salty taste 5% and NaCl 1%, as a control, were spread on mackerel meat and incubated at $30^{\circ}C$ for 0, 24, and 48 hours. The TBA values of the spice combinations for substitute of salty taste were shown as a half and/or one third values of salt. As the result, the spice combinations for substitute of salty taste with reducing undesirable flavor could be used in home cooking instead of salt.

The fatigue characteristics of glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) composites were studied under repeated loads using the finite element method (FEM). To realize the material characteristics of GFRP composites, Digimat, a mean-field homogenization tool, was employed. Additionally, the micro-structures and material models of GFRP composites were defined with it to predict the fatigue behavior of composites more realistically. Specifically, the fatigue characteristics of polybutylene terephthalate with short fiber fractions of 30wt% were investigated with respect to fiber orientation, stress ratio, and thickness. The injection analysis was conducted using Moldflow software to obtain the information on fiber orientations. It was mapped over FEM concerned with fatigue specimens. LS-DYNA, a typical finite element commercial software, was used in the coupled analysis of Digimat to calculate the stress amplitude of composites. FEMFAT software consisting of various numerical material models was used to predict the fatigue life. The results of coupled analysis of linear and nonlinear material models of Digimat were analyzed to identify the fatigue characteristics of GFRP composites using FEMFAT. Neuber's rule was applied to the linear material model to analyze the fatigue behavior in LCF regimen. Additionally, to evaluate the morphological and mechanical structure of GFRP composites, the coupled and fatigue analysis were conducted in terms of thickness.
