A cycloid speed reducer is a type of the speed reducers. The cycloid speed reducer has a eccentric rotating motion and offset to avoid some problem of assembly, so it has a disadvantage for vibration. In this paper, a multi-body dynamic model is developed for a cycloid speed reducer and the dynamic behaviors of the reducer are investigated. The cycloid speed reducer consists of cycloidal plate gears, housing gear, input shaft, output pin and shaft, and eccentric bearings. Using a CAD program, each component of cycloid reducer is modeled based on the offset and multi-body simulations are performed using Recurdyn. As a result, the pin reaction force and the amplitude of bearing displacement are increased by the offset.
Advanced Pressurized Water Reactors (APWRs) and Boiling Water Reactors (BWRs) employ a suppression pool as a heat sink to prevent containment overpressure. Steam can be discharged into the pool through multi-hole spargers or blowdown pipes in both normal and accident conditions. Direct Contact Condensation (DCC) creates sources of momentum and heat. The competition between these two sources determines the development of thermal stratification or mixing of the pool. Thermal stratification is of safety concern as it reduces the cooling capability compared to a completely mixed pool condition. In this work we develop a scaling approach to prediction of the thermal stratification in a water pool induced by steam injection through spargers. Experimental data obtained from large-scale pool tests conducted in the PPOOLEX and PANDA facilities, as well as simulation results obtained using validated codes are used to develop the scaling. Two injection orientations, namely radial injection through multi-hole Sparger Head (SH) and vertical injection through Load Reduction Ring (LRR), are considered. We show that the erosion rate of the cold layer can be estimated using the Richardson number. In this work, scaling laws are proposed to estimate both the (i) transient erosion velocity and (ii) the stable position of the thermocline. These scaling laws are then implemented into a 1D model to simulate the thermal behavior of the pool during steam injection through the sparger.
Objective:The aim of this study is to evaluate contributions of individual finger forces associated with various levels of submaximal voluntary contraction tasks. Background: Although many researches for individual finger force have been conducted, most of the studies mainly focus on the maximal voluntary contraction. However, Information concerning individual finger forces during submaximal voluntary contraction is also very important for developing biomechanical models and for designing hand tools, work equipment, hand prostheses and robotic hands. Due to these reasons, studies on the contribution of individual finger force in submaximal grip force exertions should be fully considered. Method: A total of 60 healthy adults without any musculoskeletal disorders in the upper arms participated in this study. The young group (mean: 23.7 yrs) consisted of 30 healthy adults (15 males and 15 females), and the elderly group (mean: 75.2 yrs) was also composed of 30 participants (15 males and 15 females). A multi-Finger Force Measurement (MFFM) System developed by Kim and Kong (2008) was applied in order to measure total grip strength and individual finger forces. The participants were asked to exert a grip force attempting to minimize the difference between the target force and their exerted force for eight different target forces (5, 15, 25, 35, 45, 55, 65, and 75% MVCs). These target forces based on the maximum voluntary contraction, which were obtained from each participant, were randomly assigned in this study. Results: The contributions of middle and ring fingers to the total grip force represented an increasing trend as the target force level increased. On the other hand, the contributions of index and little fingers showed a decreasing trend as the target force level increased. In particular, Index finger exerted the largest contribution to the total grip force, followed by middle, ring and little fingers in the case of the smallest target force level (5% MVC), whereas middle finger showed the largest contribution, followed by ring, index and little fingers at the largest target force levels (65 and 75% MVCs). Conclusion: Each individual finger showed a different contribution pattern to the grip force exertion. As the target force level increase from 5 to 75% MVC, the contributions of middle and ring fingers showed an increasing trend, whereas the contributions of index and little fingers represented a decreasing trend in this study. Application: The results of this study can be useful information when designing robotic hands, hand tools and work equipment. Such information would be also useful when abnormal hand functions are evaluated.

This paper presents a Time-to-Digital Converter which is a key block of an All-Digital Phase Locked Loop. In this work, a Vernier Delay Line is added in a conventional Gated Ring Oscillator, so it could get multi-phases and a high resolution. The Gated Ring Oscillator uses 7 unit delay cell, the Vernier Delay Line is used each delay cell. So proposed Time-to-Digital Converter uses total 21 phases. This Time-to-Digital Converter circuit is designed and laid out in $0.13{\mu}m$ 1P-6M CMOS technology. The proposed Time-to-Digital Converter achieves 26ps resolution, maximum input signal frequency is 100MHz and the digital output of proposed Time-to-Digital Converter are 8-bits. The proposed TDC detect 5ns phase difference between Start and Stop signal. A power consumption is 8.4~12.7mW depending on Enable signal width.
Crosslinked polyimides (PIs) were synthesized by reacting 4,4'-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)-diphthalic anhydride (6FDA) and 2,2'-bis(trifluoromethyl)benzidine (TFDB) with various ratios of the cross-linkable, end-capping agent cis-1,2,3,6-tetrahydrophthalic anhydride (CDBA) via ring-opening metathesis polymerization. Residual stress behaviors were investigated in-situ during thermal imidization of the crosslinked PI precursors using a thin film stress analyzer (TFSA) by wafer bending method. The thermal properties were investigated via differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermomechanical analysis (TMA), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The optical properties were measured by ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer (UV-vis) and spectrophotometry. All properties were interpreted with respect to their morphology of crosslinked networks. With increasing the amounts of the end-capping agent, the residual stress decreased from 27.9 to -1.3 MPa, exhibited ultra-low stress and high thermal properties. The minimized residual stress and enhanced thermal properties of the crosslinked PI makes them potential candidates for versatile high-density multi-layer structure applications.

In this paper, a quad-band antenna for DCS1800, PCS1900, WCDMA, WLAN and Mobile WiMAX application is proposed. The proposed antenna is a printed monopole structure, and consists of two rectangular ring-shaped radiating patches on the front side and two different size of L-shaped slots on the back side(ground plane). Two rectangular ring radiation patches are respectively resonant at 2 GHz and 3.5 GHz bands, and additional resonance is occurred at 5.3 GHz by the coupling effect between two ring patches. In addition, the optimized matching characteristic is obtained by controlling the gaps. Also, by adding two L-slots on the ground plane, additional resonant frequency band of 5.6 GHz is occurred. Finally the measured bandwidths of the proposed antenna below -10 dB return loss are 1,200 MHz(1.6~2.8 GHz), 800 MHz(3.2~4.0 GHz), 300 MHz(5.14~5.44 GHz), and 690 MHz(5.56~6.25 GHz). The radiation patterns have the omni-directional characteristic, and the measured antenna average gains at resonant bands are 0.86~4.07 dBi.
Debris flows are a natural hazard which looks like a combination of flood, land and rock slide. Large rainfall in July 2006 produced several large scale debris flows and many small debris flows that resulted in loss of life and considerable property and railway damage, as was widely reported in the national media. The hazard "debris flow" is still insufficiently researched. Furthermore debris flows are very hard to predict. Flexible Ring net barriers are multi-functional mitigation devices commonly applied to rock fall or floating wood protection in floods, snow avalanches and also mud flows or granular debris flows, if properly dimensioned for the process or processes for which they are intended. Overtopping of the barriers by debris flows and sediment transport is possible, supporting the design concept that a series of barriers may be used to stop volumes of debris larger than are possible using only one barrier. The future for these barrier concepts looks promising because these barriers represent the state of art for such applications and are superior to many other available options.
Using the cross-gain modulation (XGM) characteristics of semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs), multi-functional all-optical logic gates, including XOR, AND, and OR gates are successfully simulated and demonstrated at 10Gbit/s. A VPI component maker^TM simulation tool is used for the simulation of multi-functional all-optical logic gates and the10 Cbit/s input signal is made by a mode-locked fiber ring laser. A multi-quantum well (MQW) SOA is used for the simulation and demonstration of the all-optical logic system. Our suggested system is composed of three MQW SOAs, SOA-1 and SOA-2 for XOR logic operation and SOA-2 and SOA-3 for AND logic operation. By the addition of two output signals XOR and AND, all-optical OR logic can be obtained.

In this paper, we propose an extended reality-based simultaneous multi presence system in a process of remote cooperative work. The proposed system generates a ring-shaped invisible screen which surrounds a user, and it provides position and manipulation of remote workspace and personal workspace. With the proposed system, the user easily navigates the several workspace for the remote collaboration or he/she selects a specific space for immersion. The proposed system also provides manipulation of personal workspace for the user during the remote cooperative work. We conducted a user study to prove effectiveness of the proposed system. According to the results, the proposed system increased understanding spatial information and usage of time during the remote cooperative work.
