  • Recently a number of multi-rate CDMA systems have been proposed for the third generation mobile communication system. Multi-Code CDMA (MC-CDMA) offers the system construction advantage of being able to use a single-rate receiver. But MC-CDMA suffers from the distortion due to the nonlinearity of the power amplifier. In this paper, we analyze the effect of the nonlinearity on the bit error rate performance of MC-CDMA systems. A polynomial model is used to represent the amplifier amplitude nonlinearities.

  • The channel parameters such as RMS delay spread and Doppler frequency have an effect on performance of system. This paper investigates the effect between the Inter-Code Interference (ICI) and the frequency diversity gain in the multi-rate MC-CDMA system. The multi-rate MC-CDMA system has achieved the more variable data rate than the MC-CDMA and moreover it has the better performance than the OFDMA system, because it has achieved the frquency diversity gain. However, the frequency diversity gain and ICI have a trade-off relationship by using the spreading code. Therefore, we have improved the system performance by efficient choice of system parameters. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the frequency diversify gain and the ICI effect, we perform simulations by altering the Doppler frequency and RMS delay spread.

  • In this paper, an asynchronous multi-rate optical wireless pulse position modulation-code division multiple access (PPM-CDMA) is proposed for an indoor non-directed diffuse channel. As a signature sequence for CDMA, an optical orthogonal code (OOC) is used and an interference cancellation scheme is applied to improve the bit error rate. It is known that the optical PPM-CDMA has advantages due to its power efficiency. Moreover, it provides multi-rate services by varying the modulation level with fixed pulse duration. In the proposed multi-rate PPM-CDMA system with fixed pulse duration, chip rate and sampling time do not change for each transmission rate and this simplifies overall system structure.

  • In this paper, it is analyzed that the error performance of a Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA system in a single cell with multipath Rician fading and multiple access interference (MAI) and the error performance of the system is compared with that of a Sing1e-Carrier DS-CDMA system. Moreover, the convolutional coding techniques with code rate of 1/2, 1/3, and 1/4 are adopted in order to improve the error performance degraded by the multipath fading and MAI and performance improvement through the coding techniques is analyzed. As a result, it is shown that the number of users in each system can be determined by the number of branches of the rake receiver in a Single-Carrier DS-CDMA system and the number of carriers in a Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA system. Furthermore, the convolutional coding should be chosen with considering the trade-off between coding gain and a power limitation in a Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA system. In case of increasing the number of carriers, the processing gain is decreased but the error performance is improved through the effect of frequency diversity and the system can be possibility implemented due to the low chip rate.

  • In this paper, adaptive multi-stage parallel interference cancellation (PIC) receiver is considered for a multi-rate DS-CDMA system. In each stage of the adaptive multi-stage PIC receiver, multiple access interference (MAI) estimates are obtained using the sub-bit estimates from the Previous stage and the adaptive weights for the sub-bit estimates. The adaptive weights are obtained by minimizing the mean squared error between the received signal and its estimate through a least mean square (LMS) algorithm. It is shown that the adaptive multi- stage PIC receiver achieves smaller BER than the matched filter receiver, multi-stage PIC receiver, and multi-stage partial PIC receiver for the multi-rate DS-CDMA system in a Rayleigh fading channel.

  • As underwater channel is very complex and time-varying, don't supports good-quality for communication service. In this paper, a multi-carrier CDMA(MC-CDMA) system for the reliability and robust service in the underwater acoustic channel is proposed and analyzed for its performance. Applied variable rate algorithm to the proposed system gets a channel state information from relationship between SINR and user data-rate. Using channel state information make spectrum usage more efficient and overall system performance improved. In this paper, the performance of proposed system analyzed by simulation. And Pseudo-Random spread codes used in the system are discussed.

  • In this paper, the bit error rate (BER) performance of Multicode DS/CDMA-BPSK communication system is investigated in the presence of multi user interference and Nakagami fading channel environments. The DS/CDMA-BPSK communication system adopts multicode technique to enhance the data transmission rate. Using the calculated BER performance, BER figures of Multicode DS/CDMA-BPSK communication system are shown to discuss the effect of the number of multi user interference, Nakagami fading index, and data transmission rate. From the results, the transmission rate of DS/CDMA-BPSK signal improve by adopting Multicode technique. And we know that the major parameter of BER performance degradation in Multicode DS/CDMA system is the effect of multi user interference than the fading depth.

  • Multi-Code CDMA (MC-CDMA) can not only be integrated easily with a conventional system, but also achieve good spectral efficiency and high processing gain. However, it suffers from high value of peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). In this paper, we propose the Multi-Phase CDMA (MP-CDMA) system that can provide variable rate service and is not susceptible to the non-linear characteristics of amplifier. The clipping is introduced between at the output of multi-code modulator and at the input of MPSK modulator in order to improve the performance of MPSK chip demodulator and reduce the system complexity, The system performances are compared for the different Number of codes and different clipping levels, respectively. The optimum clipping level is also evaluated for the different number of codes in both, AWGN and frequency flat fading channel.

  • In this thesis, Multi-code/Multi-carrier CDMA(MC/MC CDMA) system which is combination of Multi-code CDMA and Multi-carrier CDMA is analyzed. This system is suitable fur multi-rate services that use multi-codes and high data rate transmission that employ multi-carriers. In addition, the MC/MC CDMA system is robust against frequency selective fading, is good for narrowband interference rejection, and has higher spectral efficiency. In this paper, The users are assigned OVSF codes as a spreading code according to their data rates and divides the active users having different representative code split into a number of groups for effective cancellation. At the receiver, The code grouping interference canceller performs cancellation between the groups. The proposed receiver does not require any information about interference users, such as code, data and amplitude, and has relatively low complexity. The results show the large improvement in performance that can be attained by cancellation scheme.

  • We propose a multi-rate and multi-BEP transmission scheme using adaptive overlapping pulse-position modulator (OPPM) and optical power controller in optical code division multiple access (CDMA) networks. The proposed system achieves the multi-rate and multi-BEP transmission by accommodating users with different values of OPPM parameter and transmitted power in the same network. The proposed scheme has advantages that the system is not required to change the code length and number of weight depending on the required bit rate of a user and the difference of bit rates does not have so much effect on the bit error probabilities (BEPs). Moreover, the difference of transmitted powers does not cause the change of bit rate. We analyze the BEPs of the four multimedia service classes corresponding to the combinations of high/low-rates and low/high-BEPs and show that the proposed scheme can easily achieve distinct differentiation of the service classes with the simple system configuration.
