This thesis has the aim of studying that the problems of space;time, effectiveness of space, economic characters in the architectural space that should be solved in accordance with the multi-purpose furniture in the multi-purpose rooms on the architectural planning method. The scope of this study is on the space of houses, schools and churches. The possibilities of using the methods between the multi-purpose rooms and multi-purpose furniture were tested. And the real furniture designed by the author was introduced among the pages. References, observations and the feedback from the users were used as the method of this study. The following are the contents of this study; 1. Background and the characters of the space in the multi-purpose rooms. 2. Present and potential features of the multi-purpose rooms. 3. Design method of the multi-purpose rooms. 4. Real multi-purpose furnitures designed and the evaluation on those goods. As a result of this study the multi-purpose furniture could be recommended as a good method to improve the spacial enhancement for the multi-purpose rooms. From now on, the researches like this could be studied as good problem seeking methods.

With recent trends, multi-purpose building is becoming an important thing to have significant effect on the space of multi-purpose apartment (public living place) with the interest in health and sports and social trend of "well-being." The purpose of this study is to provide the meaning of spatial function and role multi-purpose building by finding the spatial composition and constitutional characteristics and analyzing the spatial design of those apartments. Method of the study is to summary the spatial composition and constitutional characteristics by materials of building approval and pamphlets in model houses as there is no case of multi-purpose apartment completed in Ulsan. Among many factors of inner space, approachability, openness and amenity are selected by pre-research and it is analyzed to confirm if these factors are applied and planned appropriately. Based on analyzed materials, the study identifies the spatial composition and constitutional characteristics of the space of multi-purpose building that is planning to be constructed in Ulsan and suggests the problem and improvements. The space of multi-purpose apartment should be purposed to accommodate daily activities and has the meaning of existence when it is provided appropriately. In addition, the space should be designed to provide various functions and purposes for cultural enhancement of citizen in the apartment.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the multi-layered space utilized as strategy for deconstruction in the architecture of Hiromi Fujii. Although the design of Eisenman and Fujii was based on the philosophical theory of Jacques Derrida, there are many different aspects of architecture. At the same time, Hiromi Fujii could construct his concept of multi-layered space to colligate the academic knowledge of Jacques Derrida, Roman Jakobson and Colin Rowe. This kind of concept for multi-layered space is a critical element to be distinct from the characters between two architects, and it is implied such as an significant concept to analyze the architecture for Hiromi Fujii. This multi-layered space contains interesting and researchable value to understand and to analyze the western architecture theory from the viewpoint of Asian architect. Accordingly, the purpose of the thesis is to find the meaning to establish an theoretical foundation for being under discussion to the architecture of Fujii through the concept of multi-layered space.

The opportunity provided for design method and strategy of community space for secondary school through the experience of public library and gallery, is the purpose of this paper. Community space is an important issue in school architecture as it seeks to revive the public area in educational building and to renew the open space as a multi-entertainment space. The latest works of school, however, which are evaluated as well reflected the reality of educational patterns, are still deficient in that communicational elements in school are underdeveloped and inadequate. The cases of this paper, which are grown up as entertainment library and multi-purpose cultural space such as Seattle Public Library, Sendai Mediatech, Tate Modem Gallery, and Kunsthaus, are suitable to offer the method of the creation of community space for school. This paper reviews an assessment of its success in community space for school architecture with multi-entertainment-purpose library and cultural space connected open space and concludes with the establishment of design method for future school; extraction of the factors contributing to development of community space in school and proposal of design method; implementation of school renewal with library and gallery plus open space for the creation of identity considering both of study and play.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of current fashion illustrations within the framework of Multi-space method. Multi-space means being piled up one moment & space on others, and being amassed in a scene. This method is related with Dadaism, Surrealism and Postmodernism, and also influences on the current fashion illustration. In this study, the types of Multi-space method could be classified into 4 types; Repetitive Time Mixture in Multi-space, Juxtaposed Time Mixture in Multi-space, Reiterated Space Mixture in Multi-space, Projected Space Mixture in Multi-space. The characteristics of Multi-space were analyzed and the results are as followed. The distinctive methods for Time Mixture in Multi-space are repetition and juxtaposition in a scene. Time Mixture in Multi-space can make the nonlinear narration and unreal illusory space in fashion illustrations more effectively. Reiterated Space Mixture in Multi-space can be related with the heterogeneous, surrealistic illusions in current fashion illustrations. Projected Space Mixture in Multi-space can be characterized into inter-penetration. It can derive spectators to mix the projected & transparent images in a scene for their own imaginary stories. The final imagination can be made differently according to the personal experiences of spectators.

This study focuses on the human-centered diversity that is one of the important value in modern society, and the method to apply various demands for architectural space. Human begins pursue new contents and leisurely life all the time and live toward the period of high emotion with personal characteristics. With those social trends, people aggressively request subjects to satisfy their emotional attractiveness as well as comforts and pleasures beyond the functional basic requirements in space. Many studies and projects about emotion have been progressed in the fields of architectural planning and design these days. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to suggest the Multi-Purposed Emotional Space as a new alternative of space renewal that satisfy both functional programs and users emotional demands. Method: For this research, the pervious researches were investigated first to determine essential methodology and terminology to estimate and construct the multi-purposed emotional space. Result: According to survey, the multi-purposed emotional space could finally be classified by emotional words, and the results of experiment were applied for building spaces. By the above process, types of the multi-purposed emotional space and design guidelines could be suggested.

Recently, as necessity for urban recycling has increased, the research on integrated multi-purpose space has been required. Development of the system for integrated multi-purpose space is needed to form the efficient and higher value-added space. In this research, the notion of integrated multi-purpose space is defined and two proposed structural system, which are space truss and mega structure system, are compared. Mega structure system has been found as more proper system and proposed for analysis. As verified by the number of mega beam and shape of mega column, the analysis has been carried out. The results show that mega structure system offers proper performance for integrated multi-purpose space.

The purpose of this research is to find applicable design characteristics of communal spaces in multi-family houses. With this goal, international multi-family housing projects are selected and their communal spaces are identified. The purpose of study lies in analyzing on recent 10 years trends of shared space of multi-family houses in Europe, Japan, central America. The design characteristics of the communal spaces are analyzed with a special focus on the four Aspects such as Organization of space, access roads, parking, pedestrian movement In terms of the framework for analysis, community, rest, separability, rambling, territory, distribution, entrance, openness, view, prospect and aesthetic characteristics are reviewed. As a result, the communal space of the analysis are integrated in plans and sections throughout the multi-family houses. Openness and connection with surrounding urban environments are articulated by communal spaces. Communal identities and aesthetics are emphasized by various space for dweller and the other inhabitant. For a further research, it is necessary to combine a design method study with new multi-family houses for the future.

Results of RF compatibility test between KOMPSAT(Korea Multi-Purpose SATellite) and TTC(Tracking, Telemetry, and Command) station are described. S/C(Spacecreft) RF Test, telemetry test, command test, ranging test, and tracking receiver test were performed with respect to pass/fail criteria. To provide physical RF interface between KOMPSAT and TTC equipment, direct low cable and antenna-to-antenna interface were implemented. Through RF compatibility test, it was fully demonstrated that KOMPSAT and TTC equipment are functionally workable.

Korea multi-purpose satellite-5 (KOMPSAT-5) is a low earth orbit (LEO) satellite scheduled to be launched in 2010. To satisfy the precision orbit determination (POD) requirement for a high resolution synthetic aperture radar image of KOMPSAT-5, KOMPSAT-5 has atmosphere occultation POD (AOPOD) system which consists of a space-borne dual frequency global positioning system (GPS) receiver and a laser retro reflector array. A space-borne dual frequency GPS receiver on a LEO satellite provides position data for the POD and radio occultation data for scientific applications. This paper describes an overview of AOPOD system and operation concepts of the radio occultation mission in KOMPSAT-5. We showed AOPOD system satisfies the requirements of KOMPSAT-5 in performance and stability.
