Multi-unit Level 1 probabilistic safety assessment: Approaches and their application to a six-unit nuclear power plant site

  • Following a surge of interest in multi-unit risk in the last few years, many recent studies have suggested methods for multi-unit probabilistic safety assessment (MUPSA) and addressed several related aspects. Most of the existing studies though focused on two-unit nuclear power plant (NPP) sites or used rather simplified probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) models to demonstrate the proposed approaches. When considering an NPP site with three or more units, some approaches are inapplicable or yield very conservative results. Since the number of such sites is increasing, there is a strong need to develop and validate practical approaches to the related MUPSA. This article provides several detailed approaches that are applicable to multi-unit Level 1 PSA for sites with up to six or more reactor units. To validate the approaches, a multi-unit Level 1 PSA model is developed and the site core damage frequency is estimated for each of four representative multi-unit initiators, as well as for the case of a simultaneous occurrence of independent single-unit initiators in multiple units. For this purpose, an NPP site with six identical OPR-1000 units is considered, with full-scale Level 1 PSA models for a specific OPR-1000 plant used as the base single-unit models.

천수용 다기능 해양폐기물 수거시스템 개발(PART II : 시스템 구성 및 성능시험) (Development of Multi-purpose Marine Wastes Cleaning Systems for the Shallow Waters(PART II : System Development and Performance Evaluation))

  • 본 연구는 '천수용 다기능 해양폐기물 수거시스템 개발(PART I 초기 개념설계)'의 후속연구로서, 천수용 다기능 해양폐기물 수거시스템의 시스템 구성 및 성능시험 결과에 대하여 논한다(조[2003]). 수거깊이 15미터 이내의 항내 침적폐기물의 수거를 위한 다관절 수거시스템과 100미터 이내의 예인식 수거시스템이 개발되었다(해양수산부[2001]). 다관절 수거시스템은 부유폐기물, 침적 잔여폐기물의 수거, 작업의 고효율화를 위한 스틸와이어커터 시스템도 포함이 되어 다기능화 되어있다. 이 시스템의 시제품을 제작하여 수심이 낮은 해역에서 실해역 시운전을 수행, 시스템의 성능검증을 수행하였다. 결과로서, 개발된 시스템은 안전하고 원활하게 작동되어 시스템의 타당성을 입증하였다.

  • Recently school food service operations are confronted with the wide spread pressures for accountability and the need to increase productivity. This paper is concerned with the make-or-buy decision framework for school food service systems considering the multi-attributes in the decision making. For the purpose of considering the multi-attributes analysis method in decision making for the school foodservice, we developed a make-or-buy decision framework using the multi-attribute analysis method, analytic hierarchy process, AHP method for school food service system. Finally, we developed a systematic and practical solution builder for a three-step decision support system in the view of 1) brainstorming for the idea generation, 2) analytic hierarchy process, AHP as a multi-attribute structure ed analysis method, and 3) aggregation logic model to integrate the results of reviewers. We developed web based program and applied it to a school foodservice problem.

Analysis on Liveability of Multi-Family Housing Blocks in Seoul, Korea: A Focus on Comparison with Multi-Household Housings

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of housing units assembled as complexes on residential satisfaction. Two analyses were performed to examine residential satisfaction of Multi-Family Housing Blocks (MFHB; complex) and Multi-Household Housing (MH; non-complex). The residents from both housing types were surveyed on nine categories of questions regarding residential satisfaction and one on overall satisfaction from their experiences. First, the t-test results between MFHB and MH suggest that MFHB has insufficient effect in terms of improvement over MH, as their satisfaction differences are either insignificant or uncontrollable. Second, the common factors affecting Overall Satisfaction of MFHB and MH are Maintenance and Residential Environments.

  • The multi-function radar can detect and track the low RCS targets. For this purpose the multi-function radar uses the pulse train waveform. because this waveform has high dynamic range and good SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio). But the spurious signals can also be detected by processing the pulse train waveform. Thus the multi-function radar signal processor must have the high SFDR(Spurious Free Dynamic Range). This paper describes the development of the multi-function radar signal processor having the high SFDR.

Implementation and Experimental Test Result of a Multi-frequency and Multi-constellation GNSS Software Receiver Using Commercial API

  • In this paper, we implement a navigation software of a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver based on a commercial purpose GNSS software receiver platform and verify its performance by performing experimental tests for various GNSS signals available in Korea region. The SX3, employed in this paper, is composed of an application program and a Radio Frequency (RF) frontend, and can capture and process multi-constellation and multi-frequency GNSS signals. All the signal processing procedure of SX3 is accessible by the receiver software designer. In particular for an easy research and development, the Application Programing Interface (API) of the SX3 has a flexible architecture to upgrade or change the existing software program, equipped with a real-time monitoring function to monitor all the API executions. Users can easily apply and experiment with the developed algorithms using a form of Dynamic Link Library (DLL) files. Thus, by utilizing this flexible architecture, the cost and effort to develop a GNSS receiver can be greatly reduced.

  • 본 연구는 한 개의 표본에서 농업 基本統計와 家畜統計 조사를 다같이 실시하는 多目的 표본설계에 관한 연구를 목적으로 한다. 본 연구의 특징은 첫째 全國 및 道別 추정오차를 작게 하는 동시에 市郡별 추정오차를 균등하게 유지하도록 시도하였고, 둘째 任意標本과 有意標本을 결합하여 표본의 효율을 높이는 방법을 제안하였다. 유의표본은 農家 유의표본과 調査區 유의표본으로 구분하였고, 이들 유의표본 선정에 있어서 추정치의 精度를 높일 수 있는 선정 기준에 관하여 고찰하였다.

대심도 복층터널의 다목적 활용을 위한 입지선정 및 통수성능 평가 (A Study on site selection criteria and discharge capability evaluation for the multi-purpose use of a double-deck tunnel in a great depth)

  • 최근 도시지역의 홍수방지 및 지정체 반복구간의 교통문제 해결을 위해 다목적 대심도 복층터널의 건설이 요구되고 있다. 다목적 복층터널은 주기능인 도로기능 이외에 다목적 기능을 부여해 지하공간의 효율적인 활용을 위해 도입이 절실하다. 본 연구에서는 도심지 치수능력 증진과 도로터널의 기능을 동시에 고려하기 위한 입지선정 조건과 복층터널의 단면 구역별 처리가능한 유량에 대한 기초검토를 수행하였다. 터널의 용도별 입지선정 기준 검토를 통해 복층터널의 다목적 활용을 위한 입지선정 기준 방안을 제시하고 있다. 또한 대심도 복층터널의 다목적 활용성 검토를 위해 계획단면에 대한 홍수시 처리 가능 유량을 검토하였다. 본 연구로부터 복층터널의 입지선정은 다양한 분석을 통한 복합적인 고려가 필요함을 알 수 있다.
