In this paper, the internal antenna for mobile communication handset which is able to control both coupling coefficient and resonant frequency without any major modification of radiator and ground plane of antenna. Novel internal antenna with its controllable resonant frequency is presented for triple-band or over mobile handsets. The operating range can include GSM(880~960 MHz), GPS($1,575{\pm}10MHz$), DCS(1,710~1,880MHz), US-PCS(1,850~1,990 MHz), and W-CDMA(1,920~2,170 MHz). The proposed antenna is realized by combination of a half wavelength loaded line antenna and PIFA(Planner Inverted F Antenna). A single shorting and feeding points are used and they are common to both antenna structures. One of two inductors which is placed at each shorting post, one inductor is for adjusts amount of coupling, and the other controlling the resonant frequency in DCS/US-PCS/WCDMA bands. The inductance range for control of input impedance is between 0nH and 6.8nH, and each of gain variation in GSM, GPS and DCS/US-PCS/WCDMA band is under 0.15dBi, 0.73dBi and 0.29dBi. The inductance range for control of the resonant frequency is between 1640MHz and 2500MHz, and each of gain variation in GSM, GPS and DCS/US-PCS/WCDMA band is under 0.46dBi, 0.53dBi and 0.8dBi.

In this paper, we employ the modulation technique for improving the characteristics of beamformer in the low frequencies and thus improving the overall noise reduction performance. In the 1-dimensional uniform linear microphone arrays, we can suppress the narrowband noise component using the delay-and-sum beamforming. But, for the wideband noise signal, the delay-and-sum beamformer does not work well for the reduction of low frequency component because the inter-element spacing is usually set to avoid spatial aliasing at high frequencies. Hence, the beamwidth is not uniform with respect to each frequency and it is usually wider at the low frequencies. In order to obtain the beamwidth independent of frequencies, subarray systems[1][2][3][4] and multi-beamforming[5] have been proposed. However these algorithms need large space and more microphones since they are based on the theory that the size of the array is proportional to the wavelength of the input signal. In the proposed beamformer, we reduce the low frequency noise by using modulation technique that does not need additional sensors or non-uniform spacing. More Precisely, the array signals are split into subbands, and the low frequency components are shifted to high frequencies by modulation and reduced by the delay-and-sum beamforming techniques with small size microphone array. Experimental results show that the proposed technique Provides better performance than the conventional ones, especially in the low frequency band.

In this paper, we peformed the real-time implementation of AMR(Adaptive Multi-Rate) speech coding algorithm which is adopted for IMT-2000 service using TMS320C6201, i.e., a Texas Instrument´s fixed-point DSP. With the ANSI C source code released from ETSI, optimization is performed to make it run in real-time with memory as small as possible using the C compiler and assembly language. Implemented AMR speech codec has the size of 32.06 kWords program memory, 9.75 kWords data RAM memory, and 19.89 kWords data ROM memory. And, The time required for processing one frame of 20 ms length speech data is about 4.38 ms, and it is short enough for real-time operation. It is verified that the decoded result of the implemented speech codec on the DSP is identical with the PC simulation result using ANSI C code for test sequences. Also, actual sound input/output test using microphone and speaker demonstrates its proper real-time operation without distortions or delays.

This paper presents a Time-to-Digital Converter which is a key block of an All-Digital Phase Locked Loop. In this work, a Vernier Delay Line is added in a conventional Gated Ring Oscillator, so it could get multi-phases and a high resolution. The Gated Ring Oscillator uses 7 unit delay cell, the Vernier Delay Line is used each delay cell. So proposed Time-to-Digital Converter uses total 21 phases. This Time-to-Digital Converter circuit is designed and laid out in $0.13{\mu}m$ 1P-6M CMOS technology. The proposed Time-to-Digital Converter achieves 26ps resolution, maximum input signal frequency is 100MHz and the digital output of proposed Time-to-Digital Converter are 8-bits. The proposed TDC detect 5ns phase difference between Start and Stop signal. A power consumption is 8.4~12.7mW depending on Enable signal width.
In this paper, we present a robust hand recognition approach to sudden illumination changes. The proposed approach constructs a background model with respect to hue and hue gradient in HSI color space and extracts a foreground hand region from an input image using the background subtraction method. Eighteen features are defined for a hand pose and multi-class SVM(Support Vector Machine) approach is applied to learn and classify hand poses based on eighteen features. The proposed approach robustly extracts the contour of a hand with variations in illumination by applying the hue gradient into the background subtraction. A hand pose is defined by two Eigen values which are normalized by the size of OBB(Object-Oriented Bounding Box), and sixteen feature values which represent the number of hand contour points included in each subrange of OBB. We compared the RGB-based background subtraction, hue-based background subtraction and the proposed approach with sudden illumination changes and proved the robustness of the proposed approach. In the experiment, we built a hand pose training model from 2,700 sample hand images of six subjects which represent nine numerical numbers from one to nine. Our implementation result shows 92.6% of successful recognition rate for 1,620 hand images with various lighting condition using the training model.
The total amount of dry matter for the green manure crops was great wheat> rye> barley> Italian ryegrass in that order. The green manure crope were verified to have the reducing effect of injury of successive croppingin peper, mainly reducing the occurance of the most important pepper disease, Phytophthora capsisi, and enhancing the pepper quality in the fruit length and diameter. The direct seeding using current commercial pepper variety was proved as not economical one. In the first year of compost application, the growth and yield of red pepper were rather somewhat decreasing compared with those of check plot applied with organic fertilizers. compst application increased the content of organic matter in soil, which suggested compost could be applied for the sustainable purposes. In preference analysis about taking the new technique, the smaller farmer's cultivation area the more they wanted to accept the LISA farming, compared with the conventional one, could be possible to save 12% in the inorganic fertilizer expenses but wasted 412% ant 163% in both organic fertilizer and operator labor expenses, respectively. At the same time, the LISA decreased 15% in production cost but increased 225% and 139% in organic fertilizer quantity and operator labor hours. Since there was a great deal of difference in technological and economic factors from two farming methods, LISA multi-goal decision modeling is further required.
In this paper, an automated segmentation algorithm is proposed for MR brain images using T1-weighted, T2-weighted, and PD images complementarily. The proposed segmentation algorithm is composed of 3 step. In the first step, cerebrum images are extracted by putting a cerebrum mask upon the three input images. In the second step, outstanding clusters that represent inner tissues of the cerebrum are chosen among 3-dimensional(3D) clusters. 3D clusters are determined by intersecting densely distributed parts of 2D histogram in the 3D space formed with three optimal scale images. Optimal scale image is made up of applying scale space filtering to each 2D histogram and searching graph structure. Optimal scale image best describes the shape of densely distributed parts of pixels in 2D histogram and searching graph structure. Optimal scale image best describes the shape of densely distributed parts of pixels in 2D histogram. In the final step, cerebrum images are segmented using FCM algorithm with its initial centroid value as the outstanding clusters centroid value. The proposed cluster's centroid accurately. And also can get better segmentation results from the proposed segmentation algorithm with multi spectral analysis than the method of single spectral analysis.

Techniques for change detection using satellite images enable efficient detection of natural and artificial changes in use of land through multi-phase images. As for change detection, different results are made based on methods of calibration of satellite images, types of input data, and techniques in change analysis. Thus, an analytic technique that is appropriate to objectives of a study shall be applied as results are different based on diverse conditions even when an identical satellite and an identical image are used for change detection. In this study, Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) were conducted after geometric calibration of satellite images which went through absolute and relative radiometric calibrations and change detection analysis was conducted using Image Difference (ID) and Image Rationing (IR). As a result, ID-NDVI showed excellent accuracy in change detection related to vegetation. ID-PCA showed 90% of accuracy in all areas. IR-NDVI had 90% of accuracy while it was 70% and below as for paddies and dry fields${\rightarrow}$grassland. IR-PCA had excellent change detection over all areas.

The radar observation system in Japan is operated by two governmental groups: Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) of Japan. The JMA radar observation network is comprised of 20 C-band radars (with a wavelength of 5.6 cm), which cover most of the Japan Islands and observe rainfall intensity and distribution. And the MLIT's radar observation system is composed of 26 C-band radars throughout Japan. The observed radar echo from each radar unit is first modified, and then sent to the National Bureau of Synthesis Process within the MLIT. Through several steps for homogenizing observation accuracy, including distance and elevation correction, synthesized rainfall intensity maps for the entire nation of Japan are generated every 5 minutes. The MLIT has recently launched a new radar observation network system designed for flash flood observation and forecasting in small river basins within urban areas. It is called the X-band multi parameter radar network, and is distinguished by its dual polarimetric wave pulses of short length (3cm). Attenuation problems resulting from the short wave length of radar echo are strengthened by polarimetric wavelengths and very dense radar networks. Currently, the network is established within four areas. Each area is observed using 3-4 X-band radars with very fine resolution in spatial (250 m) and temporal (1 minute intervals). This study provides a series of utilization procedures for the new input data into a real-time forecasting system. First of all, the accuracy of the X-band radar observation was determined by comparing its results with the rainfall intensities as observed by ground gauge stations. It was also compared with conventional C-band radar observation. The rainfall information from the new radar network was then provided to a distributed hydrologic model to simulate river discharges. The simulated river discharges were evaluated again using the observed river discharge to estimate the applicability of the new observation network in the context of operations regarding flood forecasting. It was able to determine that the newly equipped X-band polarimetric radar network shows somewhat improved observation accuracy compared to conventional C-band radar observation. However, it has a tendency to underestimate the rainfall, and the accuracy is not always superior to that of the C-band radar. The accuracy evaluation of the X-band radar observation in this study was conducted using only limited rainfall events, and more cases should be examined for developing a broader understanding of the general behavior of the X-band radar and for improving observation accuracy.

This paper aims to evaluate the applicability of dam inflow prediction model using recurrent neural network theory. To achieve this goal, the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model and the Elman Recurrent Neural Network(RNN) model were applied to hydro-meteorological data sets for the Soyanggang dam and the Chungju dam basin during dam operation period. For the model training, inflow, rainfall, temperature, sunshine duration, wind speed were used as input data and daily inflow of dam for 10 days were used for output data. The verification was carried out through dam inflow prediction between July, 2016 and June, 2018. The results showed that there was no significant difference in prediction performance between ANN model and the Elman RNN model in the Soyanggang dam basin but the prediction results of the Elman RNN model are comparatively superior to those of the ANN model in the Chungju dam basin. Consequently, the Elman RNN prediction performance is expected to be similar to or better than the ANN model. The prediction performance of Elman RNN was notable during the low dam inflow period. The performance of the multiple hidden layer structure of Elman RNN looks more effective in prediction than that of a single hidden layer structure.
