  • MSC (Multi-Spectral Camera) system is an electro-optical camera system which is being developed to be installed on KOMPSAT-2 satellite. High resolution image data from MSC system will be transmitted to the ground-station through x-band antenna called APS (Antenna Pointing System). APS is a directional antenna which will point to the receiving antenna at ground station while the satellite is passing over it. The APS needs to be controlled accurately to provide the reliable communication with big RF link margin. The APS is controlled by ATS (Antenna Tracking Software) which is included in the MSC software. ATS uses the closed loop control algorithm which will use TPF (Tracking Parameter File) as an input for antenna position, and will use two resolve readings from APS as a feedback. ATS has been developed and verified using APS QM (Qualification Model) and all the control parameters for ATS have been tested and verified. Various kinds of maximum, nominal and realistic dynamics for the APS movement have been simulated and verified. In this paper, closed loop servo control algorithm and obtained APS position error from the verification test with APS QM will be presented in detail

  • As a main management unit of MSC, PMU controls the MSC payload operation by issuing commands to other subunit and PMU internal modules. One of these main control functions is to drive the APS(Antenna Pointing System) when APS motion is required. For this purpose, SBC(Single Board Computer) for calculating motor commands and APDE for driving APM(Antenna Pointing Mechanism) by PWM signal operate inside PUM. In this paper, details on APDE design shall be described such as electronic board architecture, primary and redundant design concept, Cross-Strap, FPGA contents and latch-up immune concept, etc., which shall show good practices of electronic board design for space program.

  • Cognitive radio has been attracting increased attention as an effective approach to improving spectrum efficiency. One component of cognitive radio, spectrum sensing, has an important relationship with the performance of cognitive radio. In this paper, after a summary and analysis of the existing spectrum-sensing algorithms, we report that the existing eigenvalue-based semi-blind detection algorithm and blind detection algorithm have not made full use of the eigenvalues of the received signals. Applying multi-antenna systems to cognitive users, we design a variety of spectrum-sensing algorithms based on the joint distribution of the eigenvalues of the received signal. Simulation results validate that the proposed algorithms in this paper are able to detect whether the signal of the primary user exists or not with high probability of detection in an environment with a low signal-to-noise ratio. Compared with traditional algorithms, the new algorithms have the advantages of high detection performance and strong robustness

  • Helix antennas have been widely applied to satellite TT&C, data communication and GPS receiver systems onboard military, remote sensing and communication purpose satellites. The helix antennas are known to be convenient to control impedance and radiation coverage characteristics with a maximum directivity in satellite z-axis. Waveguide horn is commonly used for radar system that needs ultra-wideband pulse for exploration ground radar and electromagnetic disability measurement etc. It has high efficiency and low reflection characteristics provided by the low-profile shape and suppressed radiation distortion. In this paper, a waveguide horn structure incorporated with helix antenna design is proposed for satellite applications that require ultra-wideband pulse radar and high rate RF data communication link to ground station over wide coverage area. The main design concern is to synthesize variable beam forming pattern based on modified horn-helix combination helicone structure such that multi-mission antenna is implemented applicable for TT&C, earth observation, high data rate transmission. Waveguide horn helps to reduce the overall antenna structure size by introduction fold type reflector connected to the tapered helix antenna. The next generation KOMPSAT satellite currently under development requires high-performance precision attitude control system. We present an initial design of a hybrid hern-helix antenna structure suitable for efficient RF communication module design of multi-purpose satellite systems.

  • This study presents the use of multi-temporal JERS-1 SAR images to the land cover classification. So far, land cover classified by high resolution aerial photo and field survey and so on. The study site was located in Non-san area. This study developed on multi-temporal land cover status monitoring and coherence information mapping can be processing by L band SAR image. From July, 1997 to October, 1998 JERS SAR images (9 scenes) coherence values are analyzed and then classified land cover. This technique which forms the basis of what is called SAR Interferometry or InSAR for short has also been employed in spaceborne systems. In such systems the separation of the antennas, called the baseline is obtained by utilizing a single antenna in a repeat pass

  • In this paper, we propose a compressed sensing-based signal recovery technique for an uplink multi-user spatial modulation (MU-SM) system. In the MU-SM system, only one antenna among $N_t$ antennas of each user becomes active by nature. Thus, this characteristics is exploited for signal recovery at a base station. We modify the conventional orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) algorithm which has been widely used for sparse signal recovery in literature for the MU-SM system, which is called MU-OMP. We also propose a parallel OMP algorithm for the MU-SM system, which is called MU-POMP. Specifically, in the proposed algorithms, antenna indices of a specific user who was selected in the previous iteration are excluded in the next iteration of the OMP algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithms outperform the conventional OMP algorithm in the MU-SM system.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel global navigation satellite system (GNSS) spoofing detection technique through an array antenna-based direction of arrival (DoA) estimation of satellite and spoofer. Specifically, we consider a sophisticated GNSS spoofing attack scenario where the spoofer can accurately mimic the multiple pseudo-random number (PRN) signals since the spoofer has its own GNSS receiver and knows the location of the target receiver in advance. The target GNSS receiver precisely estimates the DoA of all PRN signals using compressed sensing-based orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) even with a small number of samples, and it performs spoofing detection from the DoA estimation results of all PRN signals. In addition, considering the initial situation of a sophisticated spoofing attack scenario, we designed the algorithm to have high spoofing detection performance regardless of the relative spoofing signal power. Therefore, we do not consider the assumption in which the power of the spoofing signal is about 3 dB greater than that of the authentic signal. Then, we introduce design parameters to get high true detection probability and low false alarm probability in tandem by considering the condition for the presence of signal sources and the proximity of the DoA between authentic signals. Through computer simulations, we compare the DoA estimation performance between the conventional signal direction estimation method and the OMP algorithm in few samples. Finally, we show in the sophisticated spoofing attack scenario that the proposed spoofing detection technique using OMP-based estimated DoA of all PRN signals outperforms the conventional spoofing detection scheme in terms of true detection and false alarm probability.
