  • Good yields were usually obtained in Pd(O)-catalyzed Suzuki aryl-aryl coupling reaction, even when both coupling partners had an ortho tertiary benzamide functional group. The direct ortho functionalization of oligomeric tertiary benzamides at Snieckus condition is dependent on the chain length. Tertiary benzamide 1 can be o,o-dilithiated only by metal-halogen exchange of the 2,6-dihalo-compound. Bis-tertiary benzamide 9 can be o,o'-dilithiated with excess(4.1 equivalents) s-butyllithium/TMEDA as the lithiating agent. Tris-tertiary benzamide 21 is hard to o,o"-difunctionalize due to steric interactions among the tertiary benzamide functional groups, and due to steric interactions between these functional groups and others (if present) on the termini of the terphenyl unit.

  • Physical exercise can be effective in preventing or ameliorating various diseases, including diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer. However, not everyone may be able to participate in exercise due to illnesses, age-related frailty, or difficulty in long-term behavior change. An alternative option is to utilize pharmacological interventions that mimic the positive effects of exercise training. Recent studies have identified signaling pathways associated with the benefits of physical activity and discovered exercise mimetics that can partially simulate the systemic impact of exercise. This review describes the molecular targets for exercise mimetics and their effect on skeletal muscle and other tissues. We will also discuss the potential advantages of using natural products as a multi-targeting agent for mimicking the health-promoting effects of exercise.

  • In this paper, we propose a deep learning-based personalized senior care service application. The proposed application uses Speech to Text technology to convert the user's speech into text and uses it as input to Autogen, an interactive multi-agent large-scale language model developed by Microsoft, for user convenience. Autogen uses data from previous conversations between the senior and ChatBot to understand the other user's intent and respond to the response, and then uses a back-end agent to create a wish list, a shared calendar, and a greeting message with the other user's voice through a deep learning model for voice cloning. Additionally, the application can perform home IoT services with SKT's AI speaker (NUGU). The proposed application is expected to contribute to future AI-based senior care technology.

  • Electronic cleansing is an image post processing technique in which the tagged colonic content is subtracted from colon using CTC images. There are post processing artefacts, like: 1) soft tissue degradation; 2) incomplete cleansing; 3) misclassification of polyp due to pseudo enhanced voxels; and 4) pseudo soft tissue structures. The objective of the study was to subtract the tagged colonic content without losing the soft tissue structures. This paper proposes a novel adaptive method to solve the first three problems using a multi-step algorithm. It uses a new edge model-based method which involves colon segmentation, priori information of Hounsfield units (HU) of different colonic contents at specific tube voltages, subtracting the tagging materials, restoring the soft tissue structures based on selective HU, removing boundary between air-contrast, and applying a filter to clean minute particles due to improperly tagged endoluminal fluids which appear as noise. The main finding of the study was submerged soft tissue structures were absolutely preserved and the pseudo enhanced intensities were corrected without any artifact. The method was implemented with multithreading for parallel processing in a high performance computer. The technique was applied on a fecal tagged dataset (30 patients) where the tagging agent was not completely removed from colon. The results were then qualitatively validated by radiologists for any image processing artifacts.

  • The emergence of ubiquitous computing environment will change the service architecture of business information systems such as Decision Support System(DSS), which will be a new application. Recent mobile DSSs allow the decision makers to be benefited from web and mobile technology. However, they seldom refer to context data, which are useful for proactive decision support. Meanwhile, ubiquitous applications so far provide restricted personalization service using context and preference of the user, that is, they do not fully make use of decision making capabilities. Hence, this paper aims to describe how the decision making capability and context-aware computing are jointly used to establish ubiquitous applications. To do so, an amended DSS paradigm: CKDDM(Context-Knowledge-Dialogue-Data-Model) is proposed in this paper. What will be considered for the future decision support systems when we regard ubiquitous computing technology as an inevitable impact that enforces the change of the way of making decisions are described. Under the CKDDM paradigm, a framework of ubiquitous decision support systems(ubiDSS) is addressed with the description of the subsystems within. To show the feasibility of ubiDSS, a prototype system, CAMA-myOpt(Context-Aware Multi Agent System-My Optimization) has been implemented as an illustrative example system.

  • Carbon nanotube has excellent mechanical strength and functionality, so it has been utilized in various applications. In recent years, utilization of carbon nanotube in construction material has started to get interests from researchers in the area of construction materials. However, there is limited amount of work with respect to the rheological properties of cement paste using carbon nanotube. In this work, solution made of multi-walled carbon nanotube with dispersing agent of polyvinyl pyrrolidone was used to prepare cement paste specimens, and rheological properties and 28 day compressive strengths of cement paste using multi-walled carbon nanotube were measured. According to the experimental results, as the amounnt of multi-walled carbon nanotube increased, plastic viscosity and yield stress of cement paste specimens also increased. It was also found that such effect was higher with lower w/c cement paste specimens. With respect to the compressive strength, it was maximized at carbon nanotube content of 0.1wt.% for w/c 0.30 cement paste, whereas the maximum strength of w/c 0.40 cement paste was observed with carbon nanotube content of 0.2wt%.

  • Kojic acid (KA) is an antimelanogenic agent which has been widely used in cosmetics to whiten the skin color. However, it has the drawbacks of the skin irritancy and the instability against the pH, temperature, and light. In order to overcome these problems, various topical gels and multiple emulsion creams which can control the release of active ingredient, KA, were formulated employing cream bases of mineral oil with caprylic capric triglyceride and hydrophilic polymers such as chitosan, carbopol. and pluronics. Using Franz diffusion cells mounted with a synthetic cellulose membrane (MWCO 12,000), drug release characteristics of the formulations were evaluated by the HPLC assay of KA concentration in the receptor compartment of pH 7.4 phosphate buffered saline solution. Drug release from chitosan-based gels (ChitoGel) obeyed to the first order kinetics with a rapid release especially in the initial period. However, pluronic-based gels (PluGel) and carbopol-based gels (CarboGel) revealed controlled release of drug to some extent, followed by the square root-time kinetics. Moreover, the release of KA was further controlled with the W/O/W multiple emulsion creams (MultiCream), showing the apparent zero order release kinetics by virtue of dynamic ratecontrolling membrane of the oil layer. The flux $(J,\;{\mu}g/cm^2/hr)$ of ChitoGel. CarboGel. PluGel. and MultiCream in the initial period of 6hr were 73.30, 28.67. 24.04 and 7.72, respectively. On the other hand, the skin irritancy score of ChitoGel and MultiCream were observed as 2.5 and 2.3 respectively, in the rabbit skin irritation test. Although there were insignificant differences at p<0.05 between those formulations, it was possible to conclude that the W/O/W multiple emulsion creams containing KA might be a good candidate for an antimelanogenic drug delivery system due to the controlled release of acidic drug molecules.

  • In this study, it should be mentioned that Lipid-LCG can be prepared with the main compound of hydrogenated lecithin in oil-in water emulsion. The results of its physical property and stability are as follows. First, the best suitable compositions of Lipid-LCG are made from 4.0wt% of the hydrogenated lecithin, 4.0wt% of cetostearyl alcohol as emulsifier and gelling agent, 3.0wt% of butylene glycol and 2.0wt% glycerin as moisturizers, 3.0wt% of cyclomethicone, 3.0wt% of isononyl-isononanoate, 3.0wt% of capric/caprylic triglycerides, 3.0wt% of macadamia oil as emollients. Second, As the optimum conditions to form Lipid-LCG, which figured out 6.0 ${\pm}$ 1.0 for pH level, 32kg/mm, min for hardness to make a .essence to be formed the ternary phase of liquid crystal(multi-lamellar type). Third, as the analytical result of this system, it obtained that particle size is $1{\sim}8{\mu}m$ level, and is certified with it at 400 and 1,000 magnifications by microscope. The stability of Lipid-LCG is very stable on condition of a low temperature ($4^{\circ}C$), a room temperature ($25^{\circ}C$) and a high temperature ($40^{\circ}C$), which is not to be split in for a long time(for 3-month). We produced our own moisturizing essence, which has a good affinity to skin by means of this system.
