Since the wall thickness can be up to 6" or greater, welds must be made in many layers, each layer containing several passes. However, the welding time for the conventional welding processes such as SAW(Submerged Arc Welding) and FCAW(Flux Cored Arc Welding) can be required many hours. The aim of this paper is to develop a high speed welding system with multi-torch and laser vision sensor for increasing the production speed on the line and to remove the need for the operator so that the system can run automatically for the complete multi-torch multi-layer weld. It was shown that the developed laser vision sensor and analysis of arc blow for multi-torch were effective for multi-pass seam tracking and stable arc. A new automated multi-torch welding systems for thick wall applications has been proved in several production lines.

This paper addresses a welding task sequencing for robot arc welding process planning. Although welding task sequencing is an essential step in the welding process planning, it has not been considered through a systematic approach, but it depends rather on empirical knowledge. Thus, an effective task sequencing for robot arc welding is required. Welding perations can be classified by the number of welding robots. Genetic algorithms are applied to tackle those welding task sequencing problems. A genetic algorithm for traveling salesman problem (TSP) is utilized to determine welding task sequencing for a MultiWeldline-SingleLayer problem. Further, welding task sequencing for multiWeldline-MultiLayer welding is investigated and appropriate genetic algorithms are introduced. A random key genetic algorithm is also proposed to solve multi-robot welding sequencing : MultiWeldline with multi robots. Finally, the genetic algorithm are implemented for the welding task sequencing of three dimensional weld plate assemblies. Robot welding operations conforming to the algorithms are simulated in graphic detail using a robot simulation software IGRIP.

In this paper, we present the simulation results of multi-layer VCO(voltage controlled oscillator), which is composed of resonator, oscillator, and buffer circuit, using EM simulator and nonlinear RF circuit simulator. EM simulator is used for obtaining the EM(Electromagnetic) characteristics of conductor pattern as well as designing the multi-layer VCO. Obtained EM characteristics were used as real components in nonlinear RF circuit simulation. Finally the overall VCO was simulated by the nonlinear RF circuit simulator. The material for the circuit pattern was Ag and the dielectric was Dupont 951AT, which will be applied for LTCC process. The structure of multi-layer VCO is constructed with 4 conducting layer. Simulated results showed that the output level was about 4.5 [dBm], the phase noise was -104 [dBc/Hz] at 30 [kHz] offset frequency, the harmonics -8 dBc, and the control voltage sensitivity of 30 [MHz/V] with a DC current consumption of 9.5 [mA]. The size of VCO is $6{\times}9{\times}2 mm$(0.11 [cc]).
In this paper, we propose the industrial controller with multi-function/multi-purpose in order to cope with a small-amount and large-items environments. The controller designed consists of Main Unit including all of information and Display Unit. The software in the Main Unit is composed of tasks and device drivers and each task is being processed in parallel by operating system supporting multitasking. The controller is structured in three levels to promptly address the control algorithm’s modification, MMI’s change, and so on. We can produce a controller without changing the first layer(hardware) and the second layer(firmware). We only modify the third layer(control algorithm) depending on control targets.
A multi layered elastic analysis program, IDYSPAP, was developed. The objective of this study was to develop the IDYSPAP program on Graphic User Interface environment for field engineers using Visual Basic, which was considered span of multi-wheels and maximum 4 axles using superposition of linear elastic theorem. It is suggested that this study considers algorithm with dynamic properties of asphalt layer on various temperature and non-linear properties of subbase and subgrade on stress non-linearity for asphalt pavement structure. This Program was modified to divide asphalt layer automatically according to layer division concept. The developed program was verified with initial measuring data in test road sections of KEC (Korea Expressway Co.) using laboratory test results.
Reaction Bonded Silicon Carbide(RBSC) has been used for engineering ceramics due to low-temperature fabrication and near-net shape products with excellent structural properties such as thermal shock resistance, corrosion resistance and mechanical strength. Recently, attempts have been made to develop hot gas filter with gradient pore structure by RBSC to overcome weakness of commercial clay-bonded SiC filter such as low fracture toughness and low reliability. In this study a fabrication process of porous RBSC with multi-layer pore structure with gradient pore size was developed. The support layer of the RBSC with multi-layer pore structure was fabricated by conventional Si infiltration process. The intermediate and filter layers consisted of phenolic resin and fine SiC powder were prepared by dip-coating of the support RBSC in slurry of SiC and phenol resin. The temperature of $1550^{\circ}C$ to make Si left in RBSC support layer infiltrate into dip-coated layer to produce SiC by reacting with pyro-carbon from phenol resin.

In this paper, a chip antenna using multi-layer configuration for multi-band operation, such as GSM, DCS, pcs, WCDMA, and Mobile WiMAX for 2.3 GHz is proposed. This proposed antenna is a PIFA structure with multi-layer configuration fabricated on R04003 substrate(${\varepsilon}_r=3.4$) and its size is $22{\times}5.5{\times}4.0\;mm^3$. Multi-layer structure can effectively reduce the size of an antenna from a reuse of air-space and can achieve broad bandwidth due to decrement of parallel capacitances from the insertion air-gap to the middle layer. The proposed antenna has a broadband operation by the high order resonance modes and the resonance at the top layer. The measured bandwidths with over 45 % radiation efficiency are 80 MHz($880{\sim}960\;MHz$) at the lower band and 690 MHz($1,710{\sim}2,400\;MHz$) at the higher band.

In this paper, a dual-polarized multi-band multi-layer antenna for a vehicle, which operates in the GPS, bluetooth, and DSRC bands, was implemented. The antenna was designed as a multi-layer structure, and a FR4-epoxy substrate with =4.4 and =1.6mm was used. GPS and DSRC antennas have circular polarized characteristics, and a single probe feeding method was applied. Simulated results by Ansys HFSS v11 was compared with the measured ones. The size of the optimally designed antenna is $67mm{\times}67mm{\times}4.8mm$, -10dB bandwidth of the anatenna was measured to be 820MHz, 127MHz, and 862MHz in each band, and 3dB AR bandwidth of the antenna was simulated to be 19MHz and 110MHz in GPS and DSRC bands. The results confirmed that suggested system satisfies the system requirements.

Experimental study was performed to investigate the flow behavior in boundary layer on the blade suction surface of a multi-stage axial flow compressor, which was focused on the third stage of the 4-stage Low Speed Research Compressor. Flow measurements in the boundary layer were obtained using a boundary layer hot wire probe, which was traversed normal to the blade suction surface at small increments by the probe traverse specially designed. Detailed boundary layer flow measurements covering most of the stator suction surface were taken and are described using time mean and ensemble averaged velocity profiles. Amplitude of the velocity fluctuation and turbulence intensity in the boundary layer flow are also discussed. At midspan, narrow but strong wake zone due to passing wake disturbances is generated in the boundary layer near the blade leading edge for the rotor blade passing period. Corner separation is observed at the tip region near the trailing edge, which causes to increase steeply the boundary layer thickness.
The multi-dielectric layer SiOz/Si3N4/SiO2(ONO) is used to scale down the memory device. In this paper, the change of composition in ONO layer due to the process condition and the conduction mechanism are observed. The composition of the oxide film grown through the oxidation of nitride film is analyzed using auger electron spectroscopy(AES). AES results show that oxygen concentration increases at the interface between oxide and nitride layers as the thickness -of the top oxide layer increases. Results of I-V measurement show that the insulating properties improve as the thickness of the top oxide layer increases. But when the thickness of the nitride layer decreases below 63.angs, insulating peoperties of film 28.angs. of top oxide and film 35.angs. turn over showing that insulating property of film 28.angs. of top oxide is better than that of film 35.angs. of top oxide. This phenomenon of turn over is thought as the result of generation of surface state due to oxygen flow into nitride during oxidation process. As the thickness of the top oxide and nitride increases, the electrical breakdown field increases, but when the thickness of top oxide reaches 35.angs, the same phenomenon of turn over occurs. Optimum film thickness for scaled multi-layer dielectric of memory device SONOS is estimated to be 63.angs. of nitride layer and 28.angs. of top oxide layer. In this case, maximum electrical breakdown field and leakage current are 18.5[MV/cm] and $8{\times}{10^-12}$[A], respectively.
