A Novel Approach to Prevent Pressure Ulcer for a Medical Bed using Body Pressure Sensors

  • Despite numerous air mattresses marketed to prevent Pressure Ulcers (PU), none have fully succeeded due to residual pressure surpassing critical levels. We introduces an innovative medical bed system aiming at complete PU prevention. This system employs a unique 4-bar link mechanism, moving keys up and down to manage body pressure. Each of the 17 keys integrates a sensor controller, reading pressure from 10 sensors. By regulating motor input, we maintain body pressure below critical levels. Keys are equipped with a servo drive and sensor controller, linked to the main controller via two CAN series. Using fuzzy or PI/IP controllers, we adjust keys to minimize total error, dispersing body pressure and ensuring comfort. In case of controller failure, keys alternate swiftly, preventing ulcer development. Through experimental tests under varied conditions, the fuzzy controller with tailored membership functions demonstrated swift performance. PI control showed rapid convergence, while IP control exhibited slower convergence and oscillations near zero error. Our specialized medical robot bed, incorporating 4-bar links and pressure sensors, underwent testing with three controllers-fuzzy, PI, and IP-showcasing their effectiveness in keeping body pressure below critical ulcer levels. Experimental results validate the proposed approach's efficacy, indicating potential for complete PU prevention.

  • This paper proposes an updating policy of indoor moving object databases (IMODB) for location-based services. our method applies the Ka1man filter on the recently collected measured positions to estimate the moving object's position and velocity at the moment of the most recent measurement, and extrapolate the current position with the estimated position and velocity. If the distance between the extrapolated current position and the measured current position is within the threshold, in other words if they are close then we skip updating the IMODB. When the IMODB needs to know the moving object's position at a certain moment T, it applies the Kalman filter on the series of the measurements received before T and extrapolates the position at T with the estimations obtained by the Kalman filter. In order to verify the efficiency of our updating method, we performed the experiments of applying our method on the series of measured positions obtained by applying the fingerprinting indoor positioning method while we are actually walking through the test bed. In the analysis of the test results, we estimated the communication saving rate of our method and the error increment rate caused by the communication saving.

기존 활성슬러지 공정의 MBBR 공정 적용가능성 평가 (Application of MBBR Process in the Activated Sludge Process)

  • The objective of this study is to evaluate the possibility to apply the Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor(MBBR) in the activated sludge treatment process with existing aerobic HRT. Optimal operation conditions were assumed according to the analysis of organic matter and nutrients removal efficiencies depending on loading variations. The process was operated under different conditions: RUN I(HRT=7.14hr, $I{\cdot}R=100%$), RUN II(HRT=6.22hr, $I{\cdot}R=100%$), RUN III(HRT=6.22 hr, $I{\cdot}R=150%$), RUN IV(HRT=6.22hr, $I{\cdot}R=200%$), the TBOD removal efficien cies are 88%, 88.5%, 94.6%, 97.6%, respectively. Overall TSS removal efficiency is 90%, and it is increasing in RUN IV. In the case of Nitrogen, the highest removal efficiency of 90% was observed in RUN III and RUN IV, Nitrification and Denitrification rates are 0.013-0.016kg $NH_3-N/kg$ Mv-d and 0.009-0.019kg $NO_3/kg$ Mv-d, respectively. Phosphorus removal efficiencies are 89.6% in RUN I, 91.5% in RUN II, 84.3% in RUN III, and 76.4% in RUN IV. The process under shorter SRT yields better performance in terms of phosphorus removal. It was noticed that to achieve the effluent phosphorus concentration ofless than 1mg/L and removal efficiency higher than 80%, SRT should not be longer than 10 days. Experimental result shows that HRT of 6.22 hours is suitable for this treatment process, and, as a result, the aerobic reactor including moving media and DO depletion tank have a sufficient effect to the process performance.

  • [ $CO_2$ ]원천 분리 수소제조 반응시스템은 금속 산화물의 산화/환원 반응을 이용하여 기존의 수증기-메탄 개질 반응을 3단계의 반응시스템으로 분리함으로써 메탄 연소 시 발생되는 $CO_2$를 원천적으로 분리함과 동시에 고순도 수소를 별도의 후단 공정없이 직접 생산해 내는 신 개념의 수소 생산 기술이다. 반응 시스템은 크게 연료(즉, $CH_4$)가 공급되는 연료반응기(FR: Fuel Reactor), 수증기가 공급되는 수증기반응기(SR: Steam Reactor) 및 공기가 공급되는 공기반응기(AR: Air Reactor)로 구성되며, 다른 반응기와 비교하여 반응 매체의 전환율과 선택도를 높이기 위하여 긴 체류 시간을 확보할 수 있는 두 개의 이동 층(FR, SR)으로 구성되었다. 본 연구에서는 200 L/h의 수소를 생산할 수 있는 매체 순환식 이동층 반응기 제작을 목적으로 수소발열량 기준 0.55kW급 이동 층 반응기의 개념 설계 및 cold model을 설계 제작하고 주요 운전 변수에 따른 수력학적 특성을 결정하였다. 개념 설계 결과 원하는 매체 전환율을 얻기 위해 필요한 고체 순환속도범위($20{\sim}100kg/m^2s$)를 결정하였다. Cold-model 실험 결과, loop-seal의 유속이 증가함에 따라 고체 순환 속도가 증가하였으며 이를 통하여 고체 순환속도 조절이 가능하였다. 반응시스템의 안정적인 조업을 위해서는 이동층(FR, SR) 조업 조건을 최소 유동화 속도 부근으로 유지하는 것이 좋은 것으로 나타났다. 이동층 내 고체 체류 량은 기상유속 및 고체 순환 속도 종가에 따라 감소하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 조업조건에서 개념 설계에서 원하는 고체 순환 속도 및 흐름 특성을 얻을 수 있음을 확인하였다.

Gantry Type 공작기계의 CROSS RAIL Z축 처짐량 보상에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Z axis Defection Compensation of the Cross rail for Gantry type Machine tools)

  • Machine tools of Gantry type have been performing machine work as a moving machinery. In a large machine tools, the machinery is moving with bed and it is structurally unstable. When the objects are processed, machine tools gets loads in the direction of Z-axis. In other words, the machine tools which become bigger was performed by the trend of complexation. It made that the increased machine weight can't be passed over. In order to enhance manufacturing precision, it needs to compensate Z-axis deflection of weight for machine tools. In this paper, Machine tools of Gantry type were miniaturized and deflection was measured by LVDT sensors. When deflection was measured, block mass weighted 50kg is moving on particular distance. Then, the displacement of fixed point and moving point is measured by recording telemeter.

Simulation of Moving Storm in a Watershed Using Distributed Models

  • In this paper distributed models for simulating spatially and temporally varied moving storm in a watershed were developed. The complete simulation in a watershed is achieved through two sequential flow simulations which are overland flow simulation and channel network flow simulation. Two dimensional continuity equation and momentum equation of kinematic approximation were used in the overland flow simulation. On the other hand, in the channel network simulation two types of governing equations which are one dimensional continuity and momentum equations between two adjacent sections in a channel, and continuity and energy equations at a channel junction were applied. The finite difference formulations were used in the channel network model. Macks Creek Experimental Watershed in Idaho, USA was selected as a target watershed and the moving storm on August 23, 1965, which continued from 3:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M., was utilized. The rainfall intensity fo the moving storm in the watershed was temporally varied and the storm was continuously moved from one place to the other place in a watershed. Furthermore, runoff parameters, which are soil types, vegetation coverages, overland plane slopes, channel bed slopes and so on, are spatially varied. The good agreement between the hydrograph simulated using distributed models and the hydrograph observed by ARS are Shown. Also, the conservations of mass between upstreams and downstreams at channel junctions are well indicated and the wpatial and temporal vaiability in a watershed is well simulated using suggested distributed models.

척추관 분절운동을 제공하는 수직 상승 압력이 파킨슨병 환자의 증상 완화에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Vertically Rising Pressure Providing Spinal Canal Segment Motion on Symptom Relief in Patients with Parkinson's Disease)

  • 본 연구는 온열·마사지 자극이 가능한 기계식 침대 적용을 통해 척추를 수직으로 자극하여, 파킨슨병의 통증 감소 및 증상 완화를 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 파킨슨병 환자를 대상으로 의료용 조합자극 침대를 사용함에 따른 척추의 분절운동을 확인한 후 시각아날로그척도, 요통 기능 장애, 보행 능력, 나선형 그리기 검사를 실시하고 해당 변수 간의 관계를 파악하였다. 10일간의 시각아날로그척도, 요통 기능 장애 평가에서 침대 사용 후 평균이 감소하는 경향을 확인하였다. 보행 능력은 이동 시간의 감소와 이동 거리의 증가를 관찰하였다. 나선형 그리기 검사에서 침대 사용 후 검사 시간의 평균이 전보다 유의하게 낮았다. 그 결과, 기계식 온열 및 마사지로 척추 분절운동이 발생함에 따른 파킨슨병 환자의 회복 및 통증 완화를 위한 보조적인 방법으로 사용할 수 있는 가능성을 제시하였다. 그러나 본 연구는 예비적 연구로 피험자수가 적어 향후 피험자수와 상태를 세부적으로 고려한 추가적 연구가 필요하다.

CCHE1D 모형을 이용한 저수지 붕괴에 따른 하상변동 해석 (Numerical Analysis of River Bed Change Due to Reservoir Failure Using CCHE1D Model)

  • 본 연구에서는 저수지의 붕괴로 인한 하류부 하천의 하상변동에 대한 해석을 수행하였다. 저수지 붕괴에 따른 1차원 비평형, 비균일 유사의 이송과 하상 변동을 연구를 위해 CCHE1D 모형을 이용하였다. CCHE1D 모형은 비평형 및 비균일 유사해석을 위해 조정거리와 분류된 입자의 입경을 사용하며, 하상 물질의 교환을 위한 혼합층의 개념이 사용된다. CCHE1D 모형을 1996년 저수지 붕괴가 발생한 Ha!Ha!강 유역에 적용하여 저수지 붕괴로 인한 하류부의 비평형, 비균일 유사이송을 해석하고, 계산 결과를 저수지 붕괴전 후에 하류부 실측 하상과 비교하였다. 또한, 조정계수($L_{s,b}$), 비평형 계수(${\alpha}_s$), 혼합층 두께(${\delta}_m$), 공극률(p')을 포함하는 주요 매개변수에 대한 민감도를 분석하였으며, 대상유역에서는 비평형 계수가 하상변동에 가장 큰 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다.

복합조직이식을 이용한 갈고리 손톱 변형 교정의 임상례 (Correction of Hook Nail Deformity with Composite Graft)

  • Purpose: Hook nail deformity is caused by inadequately supported nail bed due to loss of distal phalanx or lack of soft tissue, resulting in a claw-like nail form. A composite graft from the foot bencath the nail bed gives adequate restoration of tip pulp. Methods: From September of 1999 to March of 2004, six patients were treated for hook nail deformity and monitored for long term follow up. Donor sites were the lateral side of the big toe or instep area of the foot. We examined cosmetic appearance and nail hooking and sensory test. The curved nail was measured by the picture of before and after surgery. Results: In all cases, composite grafts were well taken, and hook nail deformities were corrected. The curved nail of the 4 patients after surgery were improved to average $28.7^{\circ}$ from average $55.2^{\circ}$ before surgery. The static two point discrimination average was 6.5mm and the moving two point discrimination average was 5.8mm in the sensory test. Conclusion: Composite graft taken from foot supports the nail bed with the tissue closely resembling the fingertip tissue, making it possible for anatomical and histological rebuilding of fingertip.

반복삼축압축실험을 통한 사질토의 소성변형 특성에 관한 연구 (Study on Plastic Deformation of Cohesionless Soil through Cyclic Triaxial Test)

  • The structure of railroad or subway is that low fare transportation system of the large traffic volume. Like this structure is subjected to the cyclic load of moving vehicle. Consequently the result of the settlement analysis or plastic deformation prediction of railroad bed could be used as an important factor in safety of the railroad. The results of cyclic triaxial test were used in the numerical analysis of power model which Li and Selig(1994) developed. The soil samples were obtained from the construction site of railroad. Cyclic triaxial test was conducted with the variation of the magnitude of cyclic load and soil types. The large magnitude of plastic deformation in the railroad bed is caused of structure failure of the railroad.
